I've been able to surf using T-Mobile USA's entry "T-Zones" GPRS plan with the 1.72 ROM on my XDA II... I upgraded to 2.06 and it no longer works. It says it connects to T-Zones, but then Internet Explorer fails on all sites with "Site not found."
Messaging and my IMAP account work, so it's not the connection itself. Is this an Internet Explorer 2.06 ROM thing, or a T-Mobile thing?? Did they turn off port 80 or something?
T-Mobile
T-Mobile has changed a bunch of stuff latley. They cut me off of my browsing, if you setup the proxy, it'll start working again. They started blocking unlimited browsing without going through the proxy.
Ah. I set the connection up again as a "work" network that connected via proxy, using 216.155.165.50 (for reference if anyone searches this thread), and I am able to surf.
Thanks!
Forgot to log in. :?
In T-Mobile's ongoing battle to make their "T-Zones" service different from their "Internet" service (for which they charge at least $15 more a month), they keep closing off ports.
I am still able to ssh over the POP3 and IMAP ports, however.
Maybe you guys can help. . .
I just upgraded to 2.06 and the Connection Wizard is different - where there was a place for "Number" and I had *9***3# to connect, now it's "Access point name:" and with the same characters it won't connect. I tried using the proxy as described above and it still won't connect. Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks

Hey guys,
I was wondering if anybody has the blackberry software running on the xdaII with tmobile US? I know theres a specific rate plan you have to get with it, but does it allow you to browse the web with it also? What apn's are you using to do both, mail and web? How well does it work and where can I find the app?
thanks
I am using it on an XDA II on t-mobile. I hav the Blackberry minutes and mail plan that is essentially $19.99 for un,imited data and SMS messages and 59.99 for 1000 anytime minutes. As far as the Blackberry Client is concerned, I am use the Blackberry Web Client (BWC). Have not activated BES side yet. Here's my "good" and "bad" lists on the BWC side:
GOOD
1. Excellent, super fast, very reliable basic messaging.
2. Allows you to auto forward and consolidate multiple e-mail accounts and have all messages forwarded to your device
3. Allows you to specify what return address you want the recipientto respond to.
4. Allows you to make the reciepient think that the message is coming from a different e-mail address than your tmo web client address. For example, I have a RIM pager and use that address as return address on XDA. Everyone still thinks I am using the RIM device, when in fact everything is being doen to and from the XDA.
BAD
1. Have not been able to download or open any attachments
2. Clinet does not automatically open the next message, like it odes on regular e-mail. makes you open each message manually.
3. Move message function does not seem to work i.e. you can delete a message, but you cannot seem to be able to move a message to say an archive folder.
4. The client softeare is not integrated with the "Sounds and Notifications" settings i.e. the balckberry client does not show up under the "sounds and notifications" menu, making it imposible to set any kind of audible, vibrating or flashing light alert when a message comes in. All you have is a very short and quiet "beep" when a new message arrives
I can still browse the web, but some sites are not as assessible as they were under th normal data service. For example, I cannot run he Smartner client anymore. It may be possible to add a second APN for regular data, but TMo tech support put me off trying this as they said it would creat a conflict.
All in all I am pleased with the software as I have now been finally able to retire my RIM ipager and now have everything on one device!
And oh yes, where do you get the software? Its part of the latest O2 ROM image. Download and install 1.72.181 ROM for the O2 myxda website
Hope that helps
Regards
Chris
thanks chris,
So to be able to browse the web, Im gonna need the 19.99 data right? I guess thats why the web wasnt working for me, I got the blackberry app to somewhat work but the web was a no go. Thats what I was afraid of, I definitely do not want to add another 19.99 to my plan.
Thanks for confirming the info with me.
Ben
Hi Ben
I am actually able to browse the web using the Blackbery APN (blackberry.net). I also had some success with APN: wap.voicestream.com. TMo have had some network issues recently that have interupted the Blackberry service. I have called tech support and they had to reprovision the account, which fixed the problems. I would give them a call, say you are having issues with web access and then ask them to reprovision the account for you. You should be able to reach most sites. My issues were more with accessing data and relay servers and services (a la Smartner, iAnywhere etc) than regular web sites.
Give that a try and see if that helps. Let me know how you get on
Regards
Chris
Ben
One more thing. You may be doing this already, but if not, make sure that you "stop" the blackberry software before you launch internet explorer. That way you will disconnect the blackberry connection and allow the XDA to start a new data connection under either APN: blackberry.net or APN: wap.voicestream.com (whichever you have setto default) Once finished with the internet you can stsrt the blackberry messaging client up again.
Regards
Chris
chris,
When u were able to access wap.voicestream.com and the blackberry.net, did you always have the 19.99 data option on your rate plan? I was just using the wap.voicestream.com apn since I only had tzones, but since I'm using the xdaII, I was always able to view html pages. Tmobile has now blocked port 80 if your not paying for the 19.99 data package. So I was just wondering if you always had 19.99 data option.
thanks for the help.
ben
Hi Ben
No, I was able to access it after I switched over to the blackberry plan. They disabled my regular data plan first and then activated the Blackberry plan. Tech support said that I should be able to "access most web sites" which appeared to be correct, aside form some of the network problems TMo had as mentioned earlier.
Regards
Chris
How did you guys get the software on your device? I am thinking about buying an XDA just for this. Right now I have a siemens sk65 coming in but I would love to get back to a pocketpc
Hi StingOr
The Blackberry software client is built into the latest O2 ROM (1.72.181), so if you get the O2 XDA 2 and load that ROM, then you would be good to go.

Chris
All,
Trying to figure out what is the best way to setup your network connections on WM6 roms. I'm currently a Tmobile user in USA. The data plan im on, uses a proxy server. So it created an interesting problem if any expert out there can figure this out. HEre goes:
network wizard creates : Tmobile Data, Tmobile mms, on top of the My work network (empty setting), My ISP. None of them uses proxy.
Ok then I went ahead added the proxy into Tmobile Data config then IE works, push mail works from mail2web. AOl emails,YAHOO emails, weather ...etc stops working cuz the proxy.
Ok I decided to play with network management settings like a lot people suggested: I picked My work network (empty setting) as internet, Tmobile Data as private network connect. Now AOL,YAHOO ...etc anything cant use proxy server works, but my IE and PUSH mail fails.
My question is are there ways to tie connection to each application? actually tie into each mail account.
I remember there use to be a skipping proxy cab somewhere, I'm willing to try that cab if someone has it. I just need proxy to be transparents to some mail accounts and maybe applications like HTC weather.
Thank you. Let me know if I confusses everyone.
All,
Ok i did a partial fix.
Changed all the aol, yahoo, accounts to use work connection.
push mail can only use internet connection which has to have proxy. now that my sync doesnt like it, will fail with unreachable sever during sync because of the proxy. More digging. I know there are more tmobile web users out there. anyone has other suggestions?
When using any of these ROM, it doesn't seem to allow me to syncronise my emails with my exchange.
Has anyone experienced any problems?
I had the same problem you need to disable the proxy for the T-Mobile connection
I have disabled the Proxy, and i can receive emails but now neither internet explorer or opera connects to the internet.
Any ideas?
I live in the UK and use T-Mobile as MY phones’ service and Data provider.
I have recently purchased a HTC P4600 aka The Fuze or Raph110
Unlocked but “at&t branded”.
friends has said that The Fuze is the American Equivalent version of the UK HTC touch Pro So as you know the Fuze has a USA Configuration. I don’t know that much about Opera Mobile but my guess is that it wont work in the UK. When I request to open a Opera Media page I get a Error Message HTTP gateway timed out etc. On my request T-Mobile Sent me an Automatic Configuration Text to my phone and eventually I Got connected - once connected I accessed Internet Explorer successfully so I knows the phones IE works in the UK. But now it don’t. I get a: “Cannot Connect Bubble” To change your connection settings tap Settings Settings and I do wonder why the Data settings have changed although I had put my T-Mobile sim card in another phone to test some functions I also Uninstalled the Built in “Proxy4CWS.cab” thing but when I read up a little about it I reinstalled it which helped a bit. I have also tried to connect and setup the built in Windows messenger But I get a Media Net Error message It seems as though Opera Media, Media Net, Messenger, Yahoo and IM needs the Media Net connections modem settings which seems to be hard fixed to a USA Configuration, they are not consulting the systems custom settings set by me the User;
which would be: T-Mobile Inter.

to help aid this diagnostic I had deleted all the other connections Modems Namely
Media Nets, AT&T ISP, My Work ISP, My ISP but when I customised The Media Net’s I had a better response from messenger but not a complete connection The phone is also turning the Data Connection off randomly which is probably a product of me trying to find my way around this problem. Please Note I do have a successful Connection using T-Mobiles 3G Network. The phones Email Connection wizard works so well and I receive my Emails as I should. Along with Syncing Outlook through Active Syn 4.5. That Function seems to request the protocols I need it to be requesting. Being that the phone is a World Phone “at&t branded” Im expecting that I can iron out the Issues here for successful use in the united kingdom

Hey, i'm in the uk also, while i haven't encountered your specific problem i'll share what i know! I have used a few different roms some that are designed for the AT&t network, alot have a cab which is "Remove Hidden Proxy" maybe is this hidden proxy stuffing you up? worth a look, I do as you have and edit the MEdia net connection for my network Vodafone, but the settings vodafone send me never work so i enter them in manually found on http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html
I'm sure you've tried that, you could also try flashing a new Rom from here I am using RRE 5.8 RC2 and is Fast Stable and Reliable, it has everything Pre loaded exept Opera which is easy to find. Make sure you Hard SPL first though and follow Flashing your first Rom instructions for Rapheal,
Also just had a thought try a cab called Diamond Tweak in it you can enable /disable network connections and various other stuff that might be of help! i hope that helps some, let me know
just one extra thing you may be better posting this in Rapheal General as this part of the forum is for Rom development, I know its sort of a rom issue but you'll get a more positive response I think!! Safe.
hi there
im currently using a Raphael on the T-Mobile network, and as said by osrix25, removing the proxy tends to work.
also, why havent you flashed a custom rom yet?!!!! get flashing dude! any of the custom roms are miles better than the stock roms
search for 'connection wizard', its a program which does just that, sets up your connection for you after you select teh country and network!
good luck!
Hi,
I'm also on T-mobile (contract). Custom ROM - Cheers NRG
like previous posters, unchecking proxy works for me.
I get no problems with the settings you have in your post.
Maybe try another ROM?
Hi guys,
I don't know where else to ask this, it has me totally stumped.
I just changed from O2 to Tesco pay monthly and I can't get my AOL and Gmail accounts to connect.
I've talked through the APN settings with Tesco but they're unable to figure it out either.
I can connect to the internet OK via a browser but my email accounts return an error when I go to inbox and send/receive:
"Cannot Connect", "Cannot connect with current connection settings, to change your conection settings, tap settings"
I've been through it many times without success.
My mail accounts are set up properly, they were working with the O2 SIM, and they connect fine and send/receive over WiFi.
Am I missing something?
(I also have 3 native SD android roms installed on the HD2, they won't even connect to the internet despite my best efforts, phone calls work fine though).
I put the Tesco SIM in an old Wildfire, and it configured correctly straight away
Spent all day googling and trying to figure this out
Help. :crying:
What was the settings they gave you ?
Was it WAP based internet .
What WM ROM are you using, do you have the HTC connection setup link in Settings>Connections as that has Tesco Mobile settings can auto install them.

Thanks for replying
APN: prepay.tesco-mobile.com
Username: tescowap
Password: password
Proxy 193.113.200.195
Port 8080
Yes, I believe it's WAP based.
Rom = 1.66.405.2 WWE
Radio = 2.15.50.14
Yes, I have the connection setup link and I've cleared/reset the database several times.
I also went into Settings>Connections>Advanced>Select Networks and removed all the previous modem settings.
I've used the database settings and also the ones sent by Tesco by text.
Tesco seem to be pretty good, their helpline operator ran through all the settings using his onscreen WM6.5 representation of the HD2's menus (I was surprised they just didn't say "not supported"), but it still doesn't work.
I'm wondering if it could be the Radio Rom, as none of my Android Roms will connect to the internet, (although WM does)
It would be a major task to hard reset, as I have some critical work apps installed and configured just right, so I don't want to do that unless there's no other choice.
If you get another providers sim to work on internet then I doubt it device or radio but rather settings as WAP & proxy is a bit of a pain.
Try the following (I hope has small variation on what you may of tried already !, be sure double check typing & make sure the modem connection has the black selection dot in it once completed; settings>connections>connections>manage existing connections. Add a new modem connection ("New" soft key). Put a appropriate name for new modem connection and choose "cellular line (GPRS)" Next enter apn address, prepay.tesco-mobile.com . Next enter username, tescowap . and password, password . Finish . Under proxy tab , tick "this network uses a proxy.." Put 193.113.200.195 in proxy server box . Tap advanced and put 193.113.200.195:8080 for the first 3 (HTTP, WAP, Secure WAP) and 193.113.200.195:1080 for the last (Socks). Exit from settings then go back in & check you can see the new modem setting & that it the checked connection option, exit again & Soft reset & fingers crossed ...
I'm using a custom WM ROM so don't be put off too much if some details seem named differently.
You may want clean out existing settings or try couple of changes in details if doesn't work :-S
Not a keen fan of your radio version but it is a well used one & I not seen internet connection issues with it but you never know ! so a radio change maybe worth a shot if really come to an end on the settings !
Hi, this is a screenshot of the settings, I think I got it right?
It still doesn't work
instead of port 8080 try 9201 !
I do remember newer builds of Magicall software caused internet connection failure, u happen to have that by any chance !
Port 9201 disables all my internet connection and email still not working
I tried 8080 again, internet back but no email.
I don't have magicall, though I wish I did sometimes
In connections advanced tab under select networks button what do you have selected for programs that automatically connect to the internet ?
Seems it actually connecting in terms of internet means you can't be far off.
Worth running through mail settings & see if anything can be adjusted to help.
Also what mail type is setup here (IMAP/POP3) & does Tesco Mobile have any limitations on mail server connections ?

AOL is IMAP4, I haven't asked Tesco Mobile if they have any specific limitations but the standard settings work fine with the SIM in a Wildfire running Android 2.2, I've gone through all the working settings on the Wildfire to see whether there's anything different there but I can't find anything, though I suppose there might be some small but important setting I've missed
I also tried to set up a gmail account on the HD2, but that doesn't work either
