Combining the best of each NK.nbf WM2003SE ROM - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

We currently have 3 NK.nbf WM2003SE ROMs to play with and I've stumbled on a way to create a better version out of the 2 English ones:
2.02.t1WWE : 4.21.1088 (Build 14132)
PROS:
Stable - no reboot hangs or delays
The faster of the English versions
BT Handsfree - allows the Handsfree profile to be activated
CONS:
ClearType - not worth using in this version
BT Handsfree - early version, can disable radio randomly. Blocks activesync when activated and if Handsfree mode isn't enabled, Headset mode won't work.
BT Profile - plays hide'n'seek
Newer "Outlook integrated" MMS clients not sending/receiving correctly
No Media Player 10
2.06.00WWE : 4.21.1088 (Build 14132)
PROS:
ClearType - looks and works great
BT Headset - no handsfree option but works seamlessly with activesync
CONS:
Unstable - can lock-up in OS & suffers hangs/delays on reboot
BT Profile - plays hide'n'seek
Newer "Outlook integrated" MMS clients not sending/receiving correctly
No Media Player 10
:!: NOTE: This is only my experience of the above and you may not have experienced any/some of the above
Combining ROM's
By first flashing with the 2.02.t1WWE ROM (& 1.18.00 Radio + Extended ROM), then setting up BT and detecting all devices but before adding additional software, I ran an activesync backup. The reason I used activesync was to capture the registry and system state but not an image of the whole ROM.
I then flashed with the 2.06.00WWE ROM + 1.18.00 Radio & Extended ROM, but this time I restored from the activesync backup. Rather than what I expected (everything good about 2.06 to be blown away), activesync restore did a merge of the 2 registries and overwrote the files not in use.
The end result came as a surprise:
I now have a version 2.06.00WWE that doesn't hang/delay on reboot, runs faster, looks great with cleartype and now has BT Handsfree as an option. Handsfree works great, though still blocks activesync via BT (a reboot auto disables it) but it doesn't interfere with the radio now.
Are you sure they didn't just rename BT Handsfree in 2.02t1WWE to BT Headset in 2.06.00WWE? (same functionality, just no menu option in the later)
The reason I'm posting this, is not to produce a backup file for installation, but to give those of us playing around with the ROMS's food for thought.
I'm curious what would happen if someone installed an English version, deleted Media player 9 & it's registry as much as possible, then backed up. Then installed the Chinese version (2.20.07CHS with Media Player 10) and restored the original backup over it.
Would you end up with a combined Chinese version in English with Media Player 10?
(Before you ask why I don't try it myself - I need a break so I'm going back to work  )

Man!
it seems working for me also now i have 2.02 stability with 2.06 advantages (i.e clear type).
one thing,,, how did you think about it? i mean it is always advised to avoid restoring from different ROM!
thanx man

how do you restore from activesync? after a reflash, the partnership is removed right?
can you guys post step by step? thanks

Yup this is true... just folow there steps...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=14240

I would love to try this but pardon my ignorance but correct me if i'm wrong.... isn't it when you do a hard reset or ROM/extROM upgrade you loose partnership with activesynch? I had this problem eversince that's why i use sprite backup. How do you restore from activesynch after loosing partnership?

The steps are outlined here, but you'll have to obtain the correct ROM's to suit your region, model & carrier.

Can we have both registries posted here?
Hi Sin,
Can you posted the vanilia registries of 2.02 and 2.06 ROM?
I will love to check the difference between both ROMs and make a stable ROM by adding registry changes after the upgrade. Many thanks.

Re: Can we have both registries posted here?
Sorry, I missed your request. Here's a link to one I posted today.

Sin,
Have you try this process? And if you did what was the result? I am just curious. (I don't have enough knowledge to do this, that's why I asked)
Thanks!

ExtROM 1.72.902

8-11-2004 20:57 GMT: New version V2 uploaded.
I added a small archive containing the changed ExtROM files to solve the earlier reported errors (not updating ExtROM version and not making IIWPO un-installable).
Comment on IIWPO and making it un-installable: After having customized & installed IIWPO, you will have to do one of the following to make it un-installable if youre using the 1.72.902 ExtROM:
a. Another hard-reset
b. Running Version_172_902.cab from the ExtROM

Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am d/l'ing right now and will be installing shortly...
One request... You might want to include the cab for setting up IIWPO in case someone is installing it into the phone.
edsub Thanks.
Question tho. Can I use this for T-Mobile USA and does it fix the MMS problem ?
asking because the version says NL, isnt that the Netherlands country code ?
Thanks again
Well from first look everything seemed ok.
THese are a few of the things I have noticed since loading.
1. The ext rom version # doesn't show up in the info
2. If you use the IIWPO then it still shows in the remove list
3. The new apps from the 187 version will not install no matter what you do. (I have tried adding the ver # in the Reg, both 902, and 187 (not at same time)) Niether worked.
These are the few things that I have found since loading. If I find any more I will loet you know. Other than these I think you havea winner here!
I was wondering about the streaming MMS, the new bluetooth stack, and some of the other new versions of software that came in the 181,187 packages, and why you didn't include or update to them? Was there some incompatibality issue?
Thanks and great job!

Is SRS included?
SRS is not included due to the fact that I don't see any use for it personally. Since it is an ExtROM installer, you could add it yourself.
The NL is only there because some sdetting are more or less specific to the Netherlands. I had feedback on my earlier 1.72.901 package that it worked for other countries (incl USA) as well. Be prepared that the date format will be dutch by default (easy to change via settings though).
Also MMS is suposed to be working (but I have not tried it due to lack of interest in MMS)
The ExtRom# is not showing because some bug in the Version_172_902.cab. Working on that now.
IIWPO not showing in the remove programs list is a bit more difficult than it seems if you install for the first time. Normally you would boot up the device with new rom. IIWPO is NOT installed at this point. Once you have customised & installed IIWPO, you will have to do ANOTHER hard-reset (ie run the ExtRom contents again) to disable the uninstall. You could force this by hand first time to re-run Version_172_902.cab after installing the customised IIWPO. BUT as this cab is not OK, it wont work anyway. Working on that now.
I did not find the time to look into the new O2 apps. If someone finds a solutiuon here, I am more than happy to includew it in a new version.
For the streaming MMS, the new bluetooth stack, and some of the other new versions of software that came in the 181,187 the basic reason is lack of time. I dont know what 'extra' new there is on bluetooth in the O2 builds? OS Rom 1.72 allready has an updated BT stack that fixes most open issues. I have no experience (& interest) in MMS / streaming MMS . . .
I suppose the issue with TomTom locking up without GPS enabled is not solved with this rom ?
I know: wishful thinking..........
@Pleun: Nope. I WISH I would have solved that one!!! FYI: I tested he new TomTom GPS 3.07. It doesnt solve any locking issue and next to that makes my Headset react very slow. Also the 'Bluetooth GPS' option that is supposed to solve the locking has gone, at least with my installation. Not advisable. I reverted back to TomTom GPS 3.03.
@all: I solved the issue of not setting the Ext Rom version and making IIWPO non-uninstallable. New version V2 will be up in 10mins (incl. incremental fix for all that downloaded the version from yesterday).
New V2 is up now. See first post in thread.

I feel like my MDA2 is a little bit slower to respond not sure why! I added PocketMVP, Belkin Bluetooth GPS, Resco Explorer 2003 V5.0 and .NET Compact Framework 1.0 SP2 for Pocket PC 2003.
I am having problem with Belkin BT GPS; I got it to bond, detect the COM port (COM5) and baud rate(4800) to use but my MDA2 hangs up and had to soft reset. Any idea why?
I will try to install one by one and see what's causing it and report here.
edsub thanx for me it works great its a great improvement!
machine seems faster and no more lock-ups.
Keep up the good work (ill be following you)
p.s only one thing my battery seems to give me no more than 4 hours of on-time
4 hours is very different from my (and others!) experience. The 1.72 rom should even improve battery life.
My battery lasts for about 1,5 days (not measured but recalled from my memory) with approx 1-1.5 hours on the phone and bluetooth permanently switched on . . .
were can I download this rom from?
from the first msg in this thread : RUU172902WWE_eDsuBsofT V2.exe

Edit: The new upgrade files are now available (see refered post)
An error need help please
I downloaded the files then followed the instruction below but now I get error
the flashing process
first the devicedata is obtained from the device, with HimaGetDeviceData.exe, this gets the operatorname, and language/country code from the extended rom, sector 2 of the BDK.
Then a tool 'HimaClearJumpCode' is executed, which erases the jump at the start of the kernel. causing the bootloader to start at next reboot.
the upgrade tool then connects to the bootloader of the xda, via serial over usb. ( port \\.\WCEUSBSH001 )
warning do not just run the 'HimaClearJumpCode' program, it will erase part of your OS rom, after which you will have to repair your device by running an entire upgrade again.

Some Suggestion to make you WM2003SE 2.06 fast and Stable...

and if your not using the flashmans files then delete those flashmans file on startup... now ive left in my startup are the "CheckAutoRun, ChgDfLnk, IA_Caller_ID, poutlok, RegNotify, stk" and makes your PPC fast. Try it...
Just install the 2.02 WM2003SE DCS Rom then use activesync backup.. (Dont install anything after the 2.02 was installed just backup after upgraded to 2.02) after the activesync backup were completed reflash again, use the 2.06 WM2003SE Mamaich Rom then Restore the backuped files from activesync... then delete those flashmans... then VOILA!!!
Result: Fast and Stable, For me no hangs for reboot fast load when reboot and more stable... (For me... i dont know for you...)
Just try...
mines working the way i want it ( no hangs etc ) for more than a week now...got tired on reflashing and flashing...im testing the whole phone to the extreme ( calls, texts, games, movies, etc ) since the last time i flash and so far, its quite stable...
the reason : i just streamlined the today plugins to the one designed to run on SE ( RhinoCode plugins ) , thou i got a near-full ExtendedROm with extended-extended ROm ( \storage ), i dont even get unplanned soft resets till now...
this is my experience so far....

Perhaps you can upload both registries so we can do a comparison to see what is the difference between the 2 registries. Worth the check, if it does solve a few problems for those installed with either 2.02 or 2.06 ROM.

2.02t1WWE to 2.06 possible

Hi
I've updated my XDA2 to 2.02 thanks to the information supplied by DCS (as always excellent work Mr!), but I've since realised that I would perhaps be better off with a 2.06 with O2 customisations - even if I then wish to remove the less desirable aspects.
Can someone please point out the easiest way of doing this? It's worth noting I have to change the O2 to CDL whenever I update.
Cheers
Anthony
The best idea would be to combine 2.02 with 2.06, to do this you will need a copy of the extended ROM you used when you upgraded to 2.02. Download 2.06 , put it in a directory and delete the radio.nbf file and any ms.nbf(extended ROM). Copy your extended ROM from the 2.02 upgrade along with the radio.nbf that was there as well.
To combine the 2 roms, you need to make sure you have got any data you want from your phone, then master reset it and and set up your owner details, device name, and most importantly, any bluetooth pairings. Using ActiveSync, do a full backup of your phone in this state. Next you need to reflash your phne by running the 2.06 upgrade (you will need to use dcs's operatorupdate.bat to change the operator code to cdl first). When the flash is complete, hard reset it again and then enter your user details and device name, but not bluetooth this time. Put your phone in the cradle and restore your phone with the backup you made. You will then have the best of both worlds- a decent 2.06 cleartype etc along with BT handsfree profile from 2.02!
I hope this is clear, there are similar (and probably better!) instructions here, but they have been designed for an Australian XDA.

Thanks for that findus...
I'm curious though, why is it important to do the bluetooth stuff before applying 2.06? Is there something wrong with simply rerunning the upgrade with the 2.06 files?
Not sure if it's worth the extra hassle (would anyone consider it a "hassle"?) and also am I really missing that much with 2.02 compared to .06?
Cheers
Anthony
The reason for installing bluetooth devices whilst on 2.02t and backing up is because 2.06 does not support handsfree profile, only headset so it is up to you which one you need, I personally found 2.02 better than 2.06 but i like having them combined now, so I suppose it is all down to whether you can be bothered!! 2.02 is fine though, I had it for weeks and it was very stable.
Fin
I decided to take the plunge and updated it as per the instructions above.
One thing though, which applications included in the ext rom are really that necessary? From what I can see some of them aren't and also as I've got rid of a couple I now can't get it to show in landscape mode. When I go to the Screen option it has lost the options for Portrait / Landscape Left / Right.
Any ideas?
Cheers

[Mar 8, 2008] WM6 5.2.1711 for StarTrek (OEM, Clean, Neo)

Here I have a bunch of boring ROMs for your StarTrek. I call them boring because they are devoid of any personalization, customization, or 3rd party apps other than what comes with a shipping ROM. These ROMs are OS only, will not change your initial splash or radio (but it does change the operator splash). A text file ReadMe.txt in the download contains brief instructions on how to flash this ROM. Apparently the 3.06 IPL/SPL in QTEK ROMs is broken and cannot recover via MicroSD so I would recommend updating to 4.01.0001 prior to flashing any of these ROMs, although that in itself can be risky (see below for download). Enjoy, and flash at your own risk!
Details
5.2.1711 (Build 18170.0.5.1) Core OS (SYS) is ported from T-Mobile Shadow Feb. '08 update.
OEMAPPS and OEMOPERATORS are straight from CWS 4.1.502.5 ROM. It has the latest camera and apps.
OEMDrivers specific to StarTrek are the latest, from 4.1.502.5 ROM. Some common libraries are from TMO Shadow ROM.
OEM Edition for AT&T 3125 - The same old, boring, Cingular-branded ROM you're used to, only ported to WM6. My objective with the Boring Edition is a ROM that's indistinguishable from what an OEM would put on a shipping device. This is based on Cingular ROM v4.1.502.5 with many changes made throughout to work with the WM6 core, but hopefully the changes are transparent. It comes with all the bloatware and apps that came with the original Cingular ROM. If you want lots of storage and free RAM, this is NOT the ROM for you!
Adobe Reader LE 2.0 (new, from TMO Shadow, replaces original ClearVue PDF)
Office Mobile (new, replaces original ClearVue Office suite)
Windows Live/Live Messenger (new, replaces original MSN Messenger)
Microsoft Voice Command (replaces Cyberon Voice Dial)
English-only xT9 (new, from HTC S730 "Wings", dated Sep 7, 2007, replaces older T9)
Esmertek Java (new, from TMO Shadow update, replaces discontinued Tao Intent Java)
Cingular bloatware, customization, setup, and theme
Clock/carrier block of Cingular theme changed to standard WM6 style (I liked the bigger clock).
SecurityOff (required, because some apps can't install with it on)
Clean ROM WM6 - Similar to the above (same drivers), but lacking Cingular customization and bloatware. Does NOT have Microsoft Office or Adobe Reader. This will leave more storage available for 64MB devices like QTEK 8500 or iMate Smartflip. As this is an unbranded ROM, you will need to manually set up your GPRS and Proxy connections.
Windows Live/Live Messenger (new)
English-only xT9 (dated Sep 7, 2007)
Esmertec Java
Cyberon Voice Dial
SecurityOff (required, because some apps can't install with it on)
Neo Edition Clean WM6 ROM - Same as above, only added Neo theme from the T-Mobile Shadow. No other customizations.
CREDITS
Thanks to pArtizAn (Erofich), Alex[DFR], Strik3r, and Chymmylt for use of the WM6 XIP in early versions of my ROMs. Without it, my first ROM would have been delayed 2-3 weeks.
Known Bugs - Applies to all versions.
Analog Clock 2 and Analog Clock 3 on external display don't look right. NOT a WM6 bug because the original Cingular WM5 has the same problem!
Possible xT9 can't backspace on some websites bug.

Change Log
Mar 6, 2008 - OEM version, single press of RECORD button activates Voice Command. Should support BT activation now. All clean versions now use the same animated HTC splash. Shows HTC logo on outside screen instead of blank (thanks Erofich). I figured how to port XIPs so all ROMs now use my own XIPs ported from scratch. Added Neo and WM6.1 editions.
Feb 21, 2008 - Fixed Vibrate in Profiles bug, possibly fixed Microsoft Live can't connect bug, updated some files (no longer have to press OK after cold boot setup), newer OS build (18170.0.5.1), newer Esmertec Java, Sim Manager, changed Cyberon Voice Dial to MS Voice Command on Boring version.
Feb 18, 2008 - Changed Tao Intent Java to Esmertec Java, T9 to xT9 on all versions. Added download links to latest radio and IPL/SPL.
Feb 16, 2008 - Added kitchen files for Clean Edition.
Feb 15, 2008 - Added Clean Edition. Changes to Boring Edition: T9 problem fixed, Start menu now allows scrolling (no need to press More), SecurityOff to fix programs can't install problem.
Feb 13, 2008 - Original Release of Boring ROM.

Extras
Clean ROM a little too clean? Here are some add-ons in CAB form.
Adobe Reader LE 2.0 Build 288531 (from T-Mobile Shadow)
Neo Black & Blue Theme - Only works on ROMs with Neo integrated. Not just a simple color change, I tried to copy the mockup of T-Mobile Black. It looks almost identical to the mockup on my PC, but unfortunately the conversion from 16.7m to 65k colors results in some false contouring.
thanks man!!
does gprs work in this one?

Boring ROM WM6 Cingular (AT&T) - It's the same old, boring, Cingular-branded ROM you're used to, only ported to WM6. My objective with the Boring ROMs is to make a ROM that's indistinguishable from what an OEM would put on a shipping device.
XIP is thanks to Erofich's WM6.
5.2.1711 (Build 18165.0.5.0) Core OS (SYS) is ported from T-Mobile Shadow.
Changes
Behind-the-scenes changes were numerous, but visible changes are minimal (although I did make a few):
Office Mobile replaces ClearVue apps. Most devices that used ClearVue in WM5 were changed to Office Mobile in WM6 so monkey see, monkey do.
Adobe Reader LE 2.0 from TMO Shadow replaces ClearVue PDF.
Clock/carrier block of Cingular theme changed to standard WM6 style (I liked the bigger clock).
Known Bugs
Analog Clock 2 and Analog Clock 3 on external display don't look right. NOT a WM6 bug because the original Cingular WM5 has the same problem!
OS only, will not change your initial splash or radio (but it does change the operator splash).

If there is much interest, I can make a cleaner, unbranded version of this ROM or a vanilla kitchen.

Will this work on i-mate SmarkFlip (out of box device without any hacks)
Yes, GPRS works, but I use T-Mobile so I had to add a connection to T-Mobile GPRS. It should work with Cingular/AT&T as-is.
It should work on a SmartFlip, but I'm not sure if you need to CID unlock first.
Downloading and installed...
Attempt 1: Read everything within the Word file. Installed right from the RomUpdate program in the root directory of your
WM6 update. Didn't work, so I will attempt what you have in the Readme text file in my next attempt....
Attempt 2: The Update Utility program says version 3.12.3.1 on the title while the pictures you have in the word file says
version 2.99. Also, when I go through to update ROM, it verifies my current Image version as 4.1.502.5,
I click Update and the next screen it indicates that it will be updating from my current version to the
new version of 1.00.000.0. Then, a minute or so later, I get the following message:
ERROR [270] : UPDATE ERROR Image file is corruprted. Please check your Update Utility.
Do you know how I could resolve this matter because you do not list error 270
within your troubleshooting material? Your UpDate program is not even the same version!
Vista Home, Cingular 3125 unlocked with current released Rom version. So, what am I missing here?
Sorry, I shouldn't have included the Word doc, it's the standard doc that came with the RUU and happened to be in the folder at the time.
Are you using SoftSPL? You MUST use the SoftSPL, it won't work to just run the RUU. The doc I wrote is ReadMeWM6.txt.
You also need to CID unlock according to the sticky thread.

@kumar00455,
GnatGoSplat noted that this should work on any StarTrek, but there is something you should be aware of. In the past, it seems like a lot of people that have tried a Cingular ROM on a StarTrek that is not a 3125 model have not liked it, because they ended up with too little storage memory. This is because Cingular has loaded a ton of large crapware programs on their ROMs. Now, that isn't a big problem for the 3125, because it is actually different hardware from all other StarTreks - it has double the storage memory (128MB) all the other StarTreks (which have 64MB). Since GnatGoSplat has tried to make this just like a Cingular ROM, with all the added programs, you may find you have the same problem. However, I do think there is a thread here somewhere that talks about how to clean all the crapware off of a Cingular 3125 ROM and reclaim some storage memory.
@GnatGoSplat,
Thanks for putting this together - I think I will try it soon on my 3125! I would be very interested in a cleaned-up version and a kitchen as well. And of course, many thanks to Erofich and everyone else who worked on getting WM6 on the StarTrek. I thought we would never see this day!
Oh yeah, I forgot the 3125's have double the storage memory!
I'll make a slimmer, cleaner ROM as soon as enough people have tried this one to confirm it doesn't have any significant problems.
What apps are essential to keep in a cleaner ROM and which can go? What are typical apps that come on a Smartflip or 8500?
device PIN lock working?
Can anyone who has tried this ROM tell me if the security PIN lock works correctly without any problems? I sync my 3125 with my corporate Exchange server, and our IT people enforce a device PIN lock requirement through the Exchange server. So I have to enter a 6 digit PIN if the phone has been idle over an hour. Anyway, I'm interested in flashing this ROM, but if there is any problem with that functionality in this ROM, it would be a deal-killer for me... Thanx...

I do like your approach here, though. Start with something as much like the carrier ROM as possible until you know that it's pretty stable, then put it on a nice diet to make it lean and mean. Makes good sense to me...

Put it in the root of your device /not/ Windows. Start softspl.lnk as it says in the manual
I tried to use the program you directed the user to transfer. Everytime I clicked on it, I would get an error which stated that the link's program could not be found.
Don't get me wrong over here, I read the directions a few times and did everything you instructed. I am pretty good with directions and I am not one for doing things my own way. If I could help in anyway, just say something. I have alot of times on my hands and I am educated in matters, like, programming on my home desktop.
I made several attempts, I still get the same error, time and time again.
Are you trying to run the correct SPL? The one that looks like a square with a blue bar on top is the correct one. The one that looks like a piece of paper with the corner folded and a Microsoft icon in the center is NOT the right one.
Also, copy ONLY the files and NOT the whole folder. All these files need to be on ROOT folder of your device. If you're using ActiveSync, when you open your device icon, it defaults to My Documents so you have to go to My Device.
Okay, there we go. I copied the entire folder. Sorry. :O(
I'll make a new attempt in just a few.
UPDATE: I tried it, and now instead of an error, it just doesn't do anything. Sorry.
GnatGoSplat -
Thanks man, this ROM has been perfect so far. Just like my previous cingular rom with WM5. You did a superb job. This is just what I was looking for. Thanks Again!
I am waiting for the slimmer ROM since my device is teh European QTEK 8500. I am waiting impatiently

READ THIS FIRST
Finally Working Bluetooth problem
For ATOM/ATOM PURE ONLY
Download link moved to post #2
Step by step upgrading
NOTE: These steps only apply if you have an ATOM/ATOM Pure.
Basically, there are three steps to flash a custom ROM to your ATOM.
1. Choose and download your choice of custom ROMs
2. Flash the custom ROM to your Atom using the Device Software Update Utility (DSSU)
3. Flash the custom ROM using MiniSD
Preparation
Backup your personal information using a program such as PIM Backup (freeware). Also make sure your phone has at least a 50% charge. You need M$ ActiveSync 4.5 for XP or Windows Mobile Device Center for VISTA and 7 to upgrade your device through PC.
Please read through this guide and download the all the necessary files beforehand. That way, you know exactly what you're getting into.
Choose and download your custom ROM
There are many, many custom ROMs out there for the Atom.
Look through the threads and find a ROM that you like. Custom ROMs differ in their preinstalled software, system settings, performance tweaks, and more.
ROMs usually come compressed in a .zip file. Extract the downloaded ROM file to somewhere on your hard drive temporarily in preparation for the next step.
Flash Custom ROM Using DSSU
Copy the custom ROM file (usually came with 6 files) to C:\WINDOWS\Temp folder you just extracted.
Once you've got everything hooked up correctly, run the Device Software Update Utility (DSSU).exe program inside of the C:\WINDOWS\Temp folder you just copied. Follow the onscreen instructions to flash the custom ROM to your phone. Reboot your phone at the end and you're finished. Enjoy the new custom ROM!
In case you can't update the ATOM in active mode, you may need to update by entering bootloader mode. Hold the down power and camera button and use your stylus to press reset button at the same time until you see monochrome bootloader screen. Then connect your phone via USB cable to your computer.
Follow the onscreen instructions to flash the custom ROM to your phone. Reboot your phone at the end and you're finished. Enjoy the new custom ROM!
Flash Custom ROM Using MiniSD
*Not recommended
Here's the step how to flash your Atom using MiniSD.
1. Extract downloaded custom ROM to somewhere on your harddrive.
2. Cut first 12byte header of diskimage_Ver.nb0 using hex editor.
3. Rename diskimage_Ver.nb0 to diskimg.nb0
4. Rename ExtendedROM.img to extended.img
4. Copy both files diskimg.nb0 and extended.img to your miniSD
Now, hold the down power and camera button and use your stylus to press reset button at the same time until you see monochrome bootloader screen. The Atom will flash the new ROM automaically. Once it done, setup the device and enjoy the new custom ROM.
Big thanks to HelloWorld, [email protected], Tj's and all atom tester...

Thanks Glossy.....wow first one in line..........
Downloading now and will flash it later.....will update you from the try outs.
Good work though!
I'm wondering and really hope if this is very CLEAN, FAST & STABLE WM6.5 ROM in LOW BATTERY CONSUMPTIONS for O2 XDA Atom. Thanks before GlossyX1, you're the Atom ROM masterpiece too!
Wow! Great!
Thank you for this new build. Will try soon...
Have a try and gimme some report...
Gloss,
Tried for half a day now, this is what I have :
- overall, this built is much better than the previous, in terms of memory and battery
- overall functions and programs ran smoothly and no problems
- calls and receiving calls all good
- I can't seem to set the ringer mode to ring and vibrate but the phone by default now will ring and vibrate even if not set for vibrate, so no complains there
- persian blue works nicely to compensate for WM6.5 not able to locate any bluetooth device to beam
- Tested and still unable to sync/add more than 2 bluetooth devices, but at least I managed to get activesync working and also my handsfree, that's all I want anyway.
- taps and display are all fast, no issues there.
- booting from hard and soft reset are coming up nicely now
- one advice for user of this ROM is don't try to unlock the Extended ROM and use, the Extended ROM not very stable and when it crash, you will have problem reseting and booting your device, takes a long time and a few soft resets
But overall for me, this is a good, clean and stable ROM(forgetting about the bluetooth issue). Thanks to Glossyx1 and Helloworld1.............
Let's hope someone comes up with a permanent fix for the bluetooth issue, then this will be the defacto WM6.5 for Atom's!

What do you mean by unlock the EXTENDEDRom? I use this ROM for several days and found no problem on my device. Now I uninstalled PersianBluetooth to save more memory.
Did you found another issue? Has anyone else try this ROM?
I am in the road right now and im gonna try it tonight when i got home. one thing i would like to know if it is possible to install Spb Mobile Shell (current version is 3.5) and install MSkip ProPlus Elegance skin since I like this skin so much? if it is possible, what is the xda atom resolution based on the list QVGA, WQVGA, VGA, WVGA? sorry not familiar with and this is a bit off topic but I am consider sticking on this rom until such time that there is a solution for the bluetooth issue.

Waiting for your feed. I'm not tested yed to install SPB mobile, but there's no issue when I install another cab application. You have to try it by your self and give us a report. ATOM is QVGA device. thanks
Gloss,
What I mean by unlocking the Ext ROM is that I installed the unlock extended cab file so that the Ext ROM will be visible via file explorer or Resco explorer. Unless the cab I am using is not working properly for WM6.5(it's meant for WM6) but after I unlock it and became visible, I installed a few application on the Ext ROM to try, it was working fine until I need to soft reset the device(as some application do), then the Ext ROM is no longer visible and takes a long time to reboot(think OS can't get at the Ext ROM). Well, other issues is as my previous post, the ring mode can't set to ring and vibrate but it vibrates anyway. Then the same problem with bluetooth not able to add more than 2 devices still there. Otherwise I would say all is prefect.
As for SPB Mobile Shell, I tried installing it before under Helloworld's ROM(21869) before but does not work. The application installed okay but just could not get it to run, do not know why? Maybe some software conflict?
Add application
Hi Gloss,
Where or how can I add applications(.exe) manually in WM6 to the program or Today menu section? Is there a way? I am trying to add some other application like Torch Light, Chess games etc.
So far so good your ROM........(up till now)....

I mean WM6.5(this ROM)....

I see, you can't unlock the EXTRom as it is configured automatically in a file named config.txt. So, every chef has configured it depend on what it is configured in config.txt to EXTRom. Another thing, don't ever use other EXTrom but what is it included on ROM package, it wont work.
For the Ring mode, I can set it as usual in ring mode. Just go to setting->sound and notification->incoming call. Not working??? Try this, set to ring and vibrate, restart and set to ring.
Bluetooth??? Need some magic
I just tried to install SPB 3.5 and it works as well

No you cant, while run standalone application (.exe) you wont see any shorcut because it not registered to registry and doesn't have any shortcut (lnk). You can try to build CAB file and set all shortcut in (initflash.txt) for eq to put TorchLight.exe then write it down Directory("\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\"):-File("Torch.lnk","\Windows\TorchLight.lnk"), it will show Torch on Start Menu->Programs
Try this to make a CAB file http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=400221
Yeap, learned that after unlocking it today....had to reflash again and the 2nd time I did not unlock it, all fine after that. I was hoping to use some of the available memory on Ext ROM, so no choice then.
Thanks for the link for making cab, will go thru the thread and learn some cab making...
Cheers and keep at it......good ROM there.....clean and stable! The way it should be!
So bluetooth handfree is not working again

It usual happen while atom run out of memory. My ROM preinstalled with PersianBluetooth, when you try to install custom home screen eq SPB then your screen goes white. Here is a tip for you: Try to remove PersianBlue and see what happen. I'm not recommended to use any custom Home Today screen because WM6.5 use more resource than you can expected.

Dragon,
Bluetooth handsfree is fine, working. Only issue is choose your bluetooth devie wisely as you can only add 2 bluetooth device only at the moment. So for me, luckily 2 is just enough, one for activesync and one for handfree(bluetooth). The reason is after you added the 2nd bluetooth device, you can't see add new device tap anymore.
Good luck....
