Rom flashing

Hi I want to flash to the latest firmware but my current Rom is branded. I read on a website if you flash an unbranded Rom to a branded Rom it bricks your phone. Is this true or is it just as simple as downloading the latest firmware and flashing via ordin ?
Any help is highly appreciated

it is simple as dwnloading and flashing. but make sure you read and understand.
Also do not include the .pit file when you flash, bad things can happen
Thanks for the help

In my experience, you can flash any Rom using Odin. And on how to do this, Google is your friend.

Nandroid Backup for 16gb model

Hey all
We were trying to flash stock rom on a friends i9100 mobile and stupidly we selected .pit file (yeah I know stupid ,,,,,) It was a mistake and now when we try to flash a rom, odin gets stuck at factory_fs.img. We have checked for brick sectors but everything seems fine.
By flashing a kernel we can boot into recovery, that is possible we have done this. if anyone can plz provide a nandroid backup for this mobile we can restore from that backup. I think that this will work. So please if anyone can help us plz
Regards
Bilal
Flash a custom kernel such as siyah or Dorimanx, boot in recovery, flash custom rom through recovery. Job done

Thanks for you reply. I tried to help him flash Chameleon but it is not working. Any ROM that you would like to recommend, please ??
Maybe I am wrong but when we flashed earlier with the pit file, doesn't it mess up the partition ?? if that is the case will your method work ?? because all customs roms say ( if you are coming form this rom do this, coming from this rom do this and his mobile has nothing)
Thanks
solved, we flashed Resurrection rom and it worked then we flashed a stock rom.

Flashing android 4.3 rom onto 4.2.2 rom

Hey everyone,
I want to flash the new slimrom onto my I9505. It goes from android 4.2.2(stock rom) to android 4.3 (slimbean).Do i have to change my kernel when doing so?
Thx in andvance

Not sure about the specifics to the i9505 but on most every device that has a custom ROM produced for it (especially a big name ROM like cyanogen or slim) you would just make a backup in recovery, wipe clean, flash new ROM, then flash gapps if needed
The kernel most always is included with the ROM and will be flashed at the same time, but there are differences in every device so I advice to read the procedure in phone forum for specifics to your devices

Return to stock rom without odin

Hi I have Galaxy Ace
I' install the CM7.2 on it using the CWM v5.0.2.6
Well now I'd like to retun to stock rom
I found that I cannot connect my phone to the computer(I have a damaged micro usb on the phone) to use Odin
Well is there any way to return to stock rom without odin, by using the SD card?
Thank's
You can return stock Rom with mobile Odin, if it supports your device. If isn't, you can flash stock based Rom
