I have a big problem with a XDA i buyed yesterday.
The original rom was an italian rom, so i just wanted to upgrade to a english rom.
But the whole update failed with error 012 and my xda isn't starting up anymore (i see two bars with the xda first time alignment screen as background)
Now i want to flash it, just wrote the nk.nbf image to an sdcard (with xdarit) with the 3.5 option.
But it doesn't start?
Just load's to the bootloader menu
Has someone succeed to boot from an SD card with the 5.22 bootloader?
It Won't BOOT UP after MASTER RESET!!!

Here's something weird...
I have an early model PH10A XDA II...
was on ROM 0.81.00 USA
Radio: 1.05.09
Protocol: 1337.10b
Date 8-11-03
I'm trying to upgrade it to the latest i-mate ROM.
I have gotten to the point where it says "The current software is now being erased....the update should take 30 minutes." but the first time...it gave me an error and it asked me to reboot the device and try again...since then...
....it stays there for hours with no update, no errors, or feedback of any kind. All I get on the RUULog.log is "17:24:10 Connection with USB"..then nothing happens...
I have tried re-boots, hard boots, taking the battery out and waiting a few mins, making sure the battery is charged, I'm on XP and the latest Activesync 3.7.1, also I kill the wces...exe. app and still sits there..
I have tried the O2 version, the UK-02-version, himalayaupgradeut_197.exe...all to no avail...
Any other things I should attempt? I'm bootloader 0.23....
I'm still scouring the groups to see if anyone had this problem..

Thanks to these posts I can safely say I found a partial solution that works. From other similar posting, it seems the early bootloader 0.23 was a pre-release demo and not for public consumption...so this USB upgrade process does not work for this version.
What worked for me using this bootloader version was a combination of the posting here http://en.pdamobiz.com/en/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=93&PN=1 - using their choice #3.
1. Download ROM 1[1].72 SD.rar (ROM 1.72)
2. Extract ROM 1[1].72 SD.rar with WinRAR, you will find two files; ntrw.exe and ROM.nb1
3. Put them in any folder; say c:\ROM\
4. Go to DOS command and the folder contains the files
5. Type C:\ROM>ntrw write ROM.nb1 E: (Assume your card reader drive is E as shown in the below figure. Wait until finish writing the rom.
6. Put SD card into your XDAII, go to bootloader mode (Power + Reset + Directional Pad) and follow instruction on your device screen.
However, for this bootloader it definitely wanted a RAW formatted SD card, not a card formatted by XP/2000 card readers. I also tried other devices format Treo 600, etc...but what did the trick was to do a save to SD command using the USB/Serial program ROMUPDATE.exe located somewhere on this board.
This allowed the card to work with the bootloader...
Once this was done...I was able to insert the card on the card reader (and get an error - ingnore since it was raw format)...and type step #5.
Once this was done I was able to boot the device again.
To note..most of the solutions posted here work for public release bootloaders above 1.0...but this was an early release bootloader...and this is how you get this one to work. NOT using USB.
Now the next task is ...how do I upgrade the bootloader?

does anyone know how to reset and try to restore setings from pda (its on a german ,so that is more dificult)
removing SD card from device should solve your problem

for hard reset u need not to press the navigation key just press power and reset.
and if this does not help try reinstalling the rom in boot loder mode(serial 1.06).
just need ideas
as my xdaII is ****ed

1. What was the directory contents when you started your upgrade
2. What did your devicedata file say before the upgrade?
3. What are the operator id & language of the NBF files?
4. Did you previously upgrade?

Hello everyone, hope you're having a good Xmas.
I have the same problem but it's partly of my own making. I was upgrading my O2 XDA II to the lastest ROM (obtained from O2 website) and my laptop went into sleep mode after 46% of the upgrade was complete. Now all I have is the O2 blue screen. Soft and hard resets do nothing.
I did backup all my data (which I'm not sure includes the OS) to SDIO before starting the update and don't know if I can recover from that.
I will need to send it back to have it re-flashed if I can't find a solution but any advice you guys can give would be most welcome. At the moment my PC can't see the usb connected XDA and there's no activity on the XDA screen.

I set up the Vanilla OS on my TyTn and worked fine... then out of the blue I decided to upgrade it again and then some radio upgrade was performed and now it won't boot up. The phone is stranded in the splash screen at boot up but I can access the Bootloader (1.04) but if I use MTTY via USB I can only make some commands, info commands do not work (hang). Also, when trying to up/downgrade via SD card, it says "Loading..." and then "Checking..." and then no more (hangs). Now, I might be stupid but I have tried all possible threads in this forum (I think) but I can't find any solution. Please help me!!! :|

It was the day I decided to upgrade my HTC HD2, and someone disconnected the usb cable during the process.

The problem is I can't flash any rom radio into the phone.
OS ROMS work.

My phone is a french HTC HD2, Orange branded.
I successfully installed HSPL 2.08
Making upgrades using USB is very difficult, it is very unstable (communication errors, no response from the phone....) .
I tried on windows 7 pro and win xp sp3 and it is the same.
I then created a goldcard, that I'm using to flash directly in the phone. It is stable, but when flashing a radio rom I always get the "ERROR 00018003, RSA FAIL error".
I learned from xda that the issue can be solved by flashing the original stock radio rom from Orange.
I downloaded a lot of shipped roms from Orange, or HTC.
Always RSA_FAIL.
I'm maybe doing something wrong, or this is a hardware problem....
a few questions for you folks :
1/ It seems that the original Orange stock rom is a 1.43
Must I have the 1.42 HSPL to flash it ?
Is the version of your HSPL important, when you want to flash a rom ? can I flash whatever rom with any HSPL ?
2/ using a Glodcard with HSPL already installed.
when you enter on the bootloader (vol down + power) you arrive on the HSPL tri color screen, displaying HSPL 2.08....
Are you sure the Goldcard is being used ?
How to be sure of that ?
I think (I may be wrong) when you enter the bootloader mode You are on HSPL mode.
What I do to enter the goldcard mode :
I just press power,
I have a "Software update failed message"
Then I arrive to the "Loading..." message
With the name of the ROM i'm trying to flash
LEOIMG.nbh
RADIO V2
Press power to start update
Am I right ?

Can't really make out if you tried it from your post, but you could try to flash back to stock by using the SD flash method. Just put the leoimg.nbh in the root of the SD and boot while holding the vol down button. That way you go back to stock spl, rom and radio.
Check the sticky in the ROM development section which refers to the whole HSPL and how to flash everything topic. That should fill you in on HSPL.

I already flashed 22 radio roms and a dozen of full roms (os + radio) using SD CARD.
As the usb is very unstable I'm using the sd card method to flash, which is also a goldcard.
the problem is I ALWAYS get the RSA FAIL message (error 00018003) at the end of the radio flashing process.

had the same problem but with un unbranded phone and had it solved by flashing a cooked rom he randomly choosed.
To understand the situation,
my phone is an Orange branded one, what is the difference between a branded and an unbranded phone, assuming they both have the same HSPL ?

The phone wasn't able to boot
It was stuck at the white HTC logo,
After the failure of a radio flash, I was not able to flash it again. (RSA FAIL)

You don't just rename the whole update,you extract the ruu_signed.nbh file and rename that.
RSA FAIL
I had the same problem with my polaris (htc touch cruise - pola160). I managed to get rid of the problem by downgrading the radio rom.
I couldn't find my old one, but I was able to find the highest version older than my old one in the forum. So I first downgraded the radio using the sd card, after that the rom I was trying to install in the first place worked.

Put the back of the phone in front of an AC in cold for 5 minutes, and keeping it always in front of the AC try to install.
If you are able to do that, send it back to the warranty.

I have the same problem!
long time ago I had HTC devices, but few days ago I bought HD2 and it was installed android. Is unable to start or when they try to load a ROM eror occurs.
phone has only a white scrin.
error occurs mostly when upgrade Radio ver. I somehow managed NRGZ image but again not boot system.
Task 29 also comes to 19% and stops with the error.
I have a feeling that the real problem is the radio version. (00,018,003 Radio Fail)
I do not know what is the original ROM.

Hello everyone,i have changed my rom several times,everything was ok but as i run task29,and then when i lunched Miri & Dinik WM6.5.x 23569 v.17.4(2),my HD2 doesn't load and the blank screen that has the htc logo doesn't disappear.i have done every thing that it was said in this site(sd flash and so on,putting leoimg.nbh in the sd card and so on...) but it didn't work!!!
I wonder what should i do now?is it a hardware problem?

can you manually get into bootloader?
yes,with soft reset and holding the vol down button.
and what does it say next to spl in bootloader?
sorry,it seems that the information that i gave,wasn't so complete to be answered,
it is SPL-1.42.000.
ok, so any spl that ends .0000 is stock so you dont have hspl installed, and so cannot flash custom roms or radios.
This no doubt happened when you tried to flash a stock rom from sd card, because even if the sd flash fails, it will have reset the spl. (Example, say you have an o2 locked phone, you try to flash a tmobile stock rom, from sd card, the first thing it does is remove hspl, and THEN it does the cid check, , finds that its a tmobile rom and an o2 phone so the flash fails, making you think it just failed, nothing more, but in reality it has already flashed the spl removing hspl)
Get hspl2
run it, choose the hspl version you want (1.42.hspl, 1.66.hspl, 2.08.hspl, it doesnt really matter)
pick any rom you want to flash and flash it from usb.

i tried many ways to fix it,but the rom update failed all the time.i tried to flash hd2 through micro sd,so i formatted my memory card and then i rename "ruu_signed.nbh" to "LEOIMG.nbh", and i reset hd2 while holding vol down button.then the loading screen appeared, i thought that i solved the prob but i was wrong and the loading screen was still there,i even waited for a hour!!!but nothing changed.the last option was to state my prob here,and i did,and i received a reply from you sam,i dont know how can i thank u,only i can say many thanks and you did me a very big favor!
