I need to reset my pda and i would like to save my MMS, SMS (using jeyo) and the database of CALLER ID...any advice?
Sprite Backup V3.x and up has the ability to backup those databases.
And you can savely restore afterwards.

Hey guys...
I've got a new annoing problem with my HD2... (official Firmware)
I just updated my phone with the new 3.14 Firmware and restore my Data with spb-Backup... everything seems to work fine, BUT my HD2 won't save the sms history in the contacts now.
If I get a new sms I see it normally in the messaging tab, but if I want to answer in the message window of the contact it won't show ANY sms - not even my own sended ones.
The inbox menu in traditional mode works normally and shows any received sms.
Hope you understand me, my english is not the best.
Any ideas?
No ideas? I don't want to hardreset my phone again...
maybe backup of SMSes with PIM Backup, then deleting all messages and restore back could help?
I have the same problem on my hd2. If I switch to "traditional mode" The history is showing, but not in "conversation mode" (Don't know if that's what its called in English)
It happened after I updated the rom to the latest official HTC ROM. (3.14)
It's really annoying
happened to have the same problem today, tested PIM Backup, helped with mine:
1. install PIM Backup
2. backup only Messages
3 restore Messages:
- "Text Messages" checked, below that "Conversations" box unchecked (not sure if it's necessary), "Inbox" and "Sent Items" checked
- Message restore options: Delete all existing messages from the Database
4. soft reset

try repeating the above procedure with one addition - delete contents of Windows\Messaging folder after step 2,
I'm not sure if and how it affects stored email messages so it could be a good idea to make full backup first if you keep any important emails

I had the same problem. The problem is when you restore your messages using PIM Backup, 3.14 does not sense the messages at all. I personally think the new 3.14 loads sms's to another folder than before thus we can't see it under threaded but when you look at traditional it shows all the pervious messages meaning it might be in a sub-directory in the folder. Just an idea.
To my knowledge there is no way of getting it to show in all your messages. I would recommend just to delete all your messages and start from scratch or load another rom, maybe 2.07 or something.
I can speak only for myself, but for me PIM Backup + deleting files in Windows\Messaging folder works - tested it few times just to be sure.
On my device restoring the messages with PIM backup brings back files in this folder, and then SMS threads reapear.
It looks like if the SMS thread information was stored in all the files inside Windows\Messaging - I wonder if anyone could confirm this?
My messages folder is empty, and I also tried to delete all messages including the folder to see if the new messages would line up in conversation mode without restoring any messages, but it didn't help.
I'll try a hard reset once I've made a backup of everything except my messages. If that doesn't work I might consider downgrading the ROM.
so i have done
BACKUP
1) nandroid backup with CWM for emergency
2) backup system and apps with titanium
3) backup contacts with phone explorer (don't want sync with google account)
4) backup sms with sms backup & restore
RESTORE
1) restore system data with titanium backup (only green marked)
2) restore apps with titanium (apps and data)
3) restore contacts with phone explorer
4) restore sms with sms backup & restore
after doing this i only miss call protocoll, is there anyway to restore this ?
spirotech
By call protocol, do you mean the call logs you want to restore? If so, you can use call logs backup and restore which is made by the same dev who makes sms backup and restore. Sorry if this is not what you meant.
Hi
Without routing through adb backup command contacts.db, mmssms.db I can come to have a computer??
1. adb backup -> backup.ab
2. java -jar abe.jar unapck backup.ab backup.tar
3. unpack backup.tar
but i have not app/com.android.providers.telephony, com.android.providers.contacts/
Said the route was no friend to adb backup has contacts and came to this mmssms possible?
Pretty sure adb backup is only for user apps, not system apps. Easiest way to back up your contacts is just by exporting them to storage from your Contact (or People) app. For saving texts, there are a variety of methods as well. There are apps that all they do is SMS backup like SMS Backup & Restore (via XML) or SMS Backup+ (which you can sync to Gmail) or any of a dozen other type of apps that can backup contacts and SMS for you, like Go Backup, My Backup Pro, Super Backup, etc.
thank you

This file contains adb backup mmssms.db, contacts2.db is not it?
If you have files on the command adb pull while not rooted not no better than me, right?
I apologize as I should have looked it up first, but yes, those are the correct files for the backup of contacts and messages. I'm lazy and always just use apps as I've never had an issue with backing up and restoring those in that manner. Here is some more info on how to backup and restore those .db files:

But yes, you have to be rooted for that to work. If you aren't rooted, then you can try Helium. It works for many phones non rooted, but needs to have a PC companion app to make it work.

Hi,
Is there an app that backups & restores these things (and maybe more):
1. All apps data
2. All photos (camera, whatsapp, mms)
3. SMS messages, preferably to GMail
4. WhatsApp messages ("exploded" - meaning, not just upload the msgstore.db file)
I'm looking for something automatic, that will backup things as they arrive (e.g. after I take a photo), or hourly/nightly, and that knows to upload the new data to a cloud service.
I know a mix of Titanium & Google + & SMS Backup+ can do these things (SMS Backup+ can't restore whatsapp messages and only backsup nightly, not as whatsapp messages arrives, and can't backup crypt7 files (tri-crypt can decrypt, but for me SMS backup didn't trigger afterwards)). Titanium also failed to upload backups for me (for reasons unclear. the message it gives in the notification is cut off)
Nandroid backup will contain everything, but can't be done nightly and the file is huge, so can't be uploaded. I think it also means that if I change phones, it can't be used for restore.
Basically, I don't want to mess with it. Have it work in the background, send everything to a cloud storage and allow me to restore, even if I switched to a new phone.
When I reinstalled WhatsApp it did not restore the backup. The reason was probably that I initially denied WhatsApp access to contacts. Now finally I did give WhatsApp access to contacts, and my backup about one gigabyte in size shows up in the settings. The backup is only in Google. Before wiping the phone, I checked if there is a way to create a local backup of WhatsApp, but I didn't find it anymore.
How do I restore the backup without losing new messages?
PS: I used the WhatsApp contact function to send them a message, but the message bounced:
Code:
[email protected]
host smtpin.vvv.facebook.com [2a03:2880:ff:fffd:face:b00c:0:686e]
SMTP error from remote mail server after end of data:

Open WhatsApp and verify your number.
Then, tap RESTORE to restore your chats and media from Google Drive.
After the restoration process is complete, tap NEXT.
WhatsApp will restoring your backup files.
