SMS messages sent incomplete - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

Hi guys, I'm back seeking your wisdom once more
I have complaints from people I send SMS messages to, that my messages are being received either blank or with only half my text appearing. Ususally after I have used characters such as ..... or : o)
Is this a known issue and is there a fix?

Anyone? I don't want to have to reinstall if I don't have to.

Are you using Intellipad? This happens to me whenever i forget to press enter or tab after my last word. You have to make sure that your phrase is complete before tapping the send box.
i hope this helps you..

REally? Simple as that? I will have to try that and come back to report. I have never hit enter or tab after my last character as I didn't think that would be necessary.
Thank you.

How to send sms with the xda?

Hi
I have not been able to send any sms messages with my xda. I managed to receive them ok but whenever I tap on "New", the message choice doesn't come out and and I could not even compose a message. I am with vodaphone and has unlocked the phone with xda manipulator and I have checked under options that I do have the settings for sms mailbox correct.
Can anybody help please?
Thanks
Vic
Hi all,
Though nobody seemed to know the answer, I got the problem sorted out by cold booting. Somehow some important files must have been erased and now I got full functionality of the sms.
Hope this thread helped somebody.
Cheers
Vic

[Q] SMS Contact Lookup Crashes Message

Hi,
I'm running a HTC HD2 with Windows Mobile 6.5 running ROM 3.14.110.1 WWE.
Recently, whenever I try to send an SMS and type the contact's surname into the "To:" box - the messaging application disappears off the screen. No draft SMS is saved, and when I return to the messaging application - no evidence of the SMS is present.
If I click the Contact Lookup icon in the top right hand corner, I can manually select contacts through this method - but obviously it's a lot slower than simply typing a surname and picking out a contact.
I've tried removing my MS Exchange ActiveSync connection, and then re-establishing it after a Soft Reboot - but the problem persists.
Has anyone experienced this, and can suggest a fix?
Regards,
Richard Tubb.
Im glad I'm not the only one this happens too, I just thought it must be my fat fingers pressing the wrong buttons....
Sorry I cant help but will be watching to see if there are any helpful hints on how to fix this error..
How many text messages have you got. . . . Coz when i was getting this and after a hard reset, I didn't restore my test message and the problem want away.
Don't now as never found a solution yet.

This is usually caused by network errors or data interruptions in my experience. Also if you go from Roaming to Native network or vice versa. It seems some messages get lost in space for a bit and you finally get them and the time stamp is weird. My daughter text me at 12pm the other day and the time on the text showed 8:15pm. I was Roaming at the time.
Edit - I recall Handcent was really good at keeping texts in the proper time order, regardless of what the time stamp said when it arrived.

Problems with text messages and contacts

Hi Im having a lot of problems with my text messages and contacts. I get the notification that I got the text message but when I open it is not there. And when I text somebody the message is not showing in the thread. Also on text messages when i press compose and type the name of a person I know I have it will not show any results. I have to close it and try and always on the 3 try it shows.
And with my contacts , whenever I try opening "people" it takes forever to load , and sometimes it doesnt even load.
My phone is bone stock. not rooted or anything. This where some of the issues I was having with my rooted EVO 4G when it was rooted and was running cyanogen mod 10 thats what was keeping me from installing a rom. But is pissing me off. i cant answer my phone at work so i text everybody A LOT. So its annoying. is there a fix for this. Its stock so I dont get it. I have done the updates , I havent deleted anything or stop updates on anything. WTF!!
can anyone help me with this.
Do u have your contacts backed up thru a gmail account or in phone memory? I remember that happening once or twice where people wouldn't show up when I searched. Was also when I first got phone unrooted and completely stock.
Can u open text message app and compose from there? Searching people for me is too many steps.
Do u have a lot of resources being used on your phone? Can't think of much else that would help u being unrooted other than to reset phone to clear your caches. Maybe delete some texts u don't need anymore? That will speed up the text loading.

How do I reset the phone , what exactly will it erase. Now is happening with all my notifications like email and ebay notifications. I receive the notifications but my inbox is empty and I refresh and theres nothing there
Hold down power until the lights start blinking for a simulated battery pull is what I'm saying. U can try to factory reset. U will have to call sprint and ask them for your msl number for a factory reset. There u will have to dial a ## number, I forget what the exact numbers are. Ask the sprint tech when u get msl.
But it could be something simpler and I really think the answer is in your settings somewhere. Are u forwarding your messages by chance? Are they deleting after u view them by option? Idk man. I'd have to see it in action and mess with it myself.
I have the contacts issue too. Usually means no caller id loads or I can't pull up my contacts list. Usually get an error msg about acore not responding as well. I don't know what can be done about it.

saving multiple drafts to same person in android

Hi,
There's something I'd like to do on my samsung galaxy note that I was able to do on my Symbian-based device in the past, but I can't figure out how to do it under Android.
I'd like to save multiple SMS drafts per recipient. However, my Galaxy note 2 only seems to permit me to save one SMS draft per recipient, with each subsequent draft overwriting the previous draft for that same recipient.
Here's why I'd like to have this capability:
If I want to type a long SMS to someone (more than 160 characters), what I like to do is split the message at logical places such as after commas, sentence endings, etc. I would do this by getting close to the end of a given SMS message and then stopping it at the point that I choose, saving it as a draft, and then continuing my text in a new SMS starting at the beginning of the next sentence, phrase, etc. Then, once the set of drafts is completed, I will first proofread and make corrections in the entire group of drafts, and only then will I manually send them off, one after the other.
Yes, I know I can type a long message and the SMS app will automatically split it into pieces after 160 characters, but that often splits words or breaks sentences and phrases in places that I don't want them broken.
Here's how I try to accomplish this on my G1:
Invoke the Messaging app.
Select New Message.
Select recipient.
Compose first SMS.
Select the Back key (draft 1 gets saved).
Select New Message.
Select same recipient as before.
Compose second SMS.
Select the Back key (draft 2 gets saved).
However, at this point, draft 1 has been overwritten by draft 2. In other words, only draft 2 remains.
Can anyone think of a way for me to accomplish what I want (or at least something similar) on my samsung galaxy note 2?
Thanks in advance.
no one ??
This isn't possible in the stock messaging app. You can use GO SMS Pro or Handcent SMS, which allow you to create folders and save messages in them just like in Symbian. So you can save parts of the long message in a folder and send them one by one. I like to use the stock messaging app in my devices though, so the way I do this is to type out the message till the limit, copy it and paste it in a note taking app, then copy it back to the messaging app when I need to send it. In ICS and JellyBean, when you select a bunch of text to copy, you get a share button to directly share it by SMS and other stuff. So it's very easy and doesn't involve copy-pasting twice. I just select, share, done. I find this to take the same number of steps and be just as easy as saving to a folder and sending. If you must do it that way, then one of the above apps should be right for you.
I regularly send long messages, sometimes even 10-15 messages long if I'm copy-pasting some stuff from the internet to someone, but I've never experienced your problem or messages breaking up and missing content. They just reach the recipient as one big message. Although, this behaviour is dependent on the mobile network provider, so I can't speak for yours. But I have never seen this happen with any GSM provider I'm my country. I'm guessing yours must be CDMA?

Could you please tell me which note taking app you use with ics thank you in advance. Tom
This is merely a work-around for how to work on multiple drafts to a recipient. First add your name and mobile device phone # to your Contacts List. Refine your first draft as thoroughly as possible. Then address that message to your own mobile device phone #, and send it. You'll see that message twice, as both your "Sent" & your "Received" message. Your first draft is "parked" in your mobile device's phone #. Now you can work on your next draft, as you would normally. If you decide to send your first draft to the recipient, just forward it from your mobile device's inbox!
