New Smartphone Rom

Hi, I own the QTEK 2020 and a couple of months ago updated it with the dangard rom update. Now it seems there is a new update in the form of the WM2003SE and I need to know if I cn get one for my phone as I dont have an XDA2, imate, himalaya or any such device but a QTEK 2020!
I want it too
When you can find one, please let me know, because I'm in searching of one too
i have heard nothing about any 2003SE for xda update
where did you hear that ?
Microsoft Creates New Opportunity for Windows Mobile Developers With New Software Platforms and Tools
Microsoft unveils the new Windows Mobile™ 2003 Second Edition software focused on enabling unprecedented hardware innnovation and application development.
ANother question.
I saw this update on the front page:
A sotware update was released for the iMate (Himalaya / XDA II). It's a ROM update which holds a new OS ROM and not just a new extended ROM.
i.e. Imate 1.66
if i install this upgrade on my qtek 2020 would it work and will my phone still retain its triband capabilities?

Upgrading Window Pocket PC 2003

To my knowledge I have PPC 2003.
ROM Version 1.03.00 USA
Radio Version 1.05.12
and Protocal Version 1337.12
Is this up-to-date?
If not, where can I find updates to PPC 2003?
Is there a new version of PPC 2003 update website.
If so, what is it?
Thanks

State of the nation: Bluetooth and ROM upgrades

I've been off the forum for a long while.
Could somebody update me on where we stand on ROM/Operator ROM versions and is it yet possible to install a REAL Bluetooth stack (i.e. one that supports a handsfree profile and passes car microphone into the XDA for voice recognition).
I have an XDA2 with an identity crisis (had a sexchange and now masquerades as an M1000 on Orange).
BTW I currently use a T610 with my Parrot car kit. What an outstanding implementation of Bluetooth services!! XDA developers could do worse than write a T610 emulator ....
The current rom version is:
OS 1.72.00WWE
Radio 1.17.00
ExtROM:
O2 1.72.181 / 1.72.187 (UK based, difference: one is with other without Blackberry)
T-Mobile 1.72.190 (NL based)
iMate 1.72.126
QTek 1.72.601
I would go for the O2 or T-Mobile ones, but: There are many customisations available (like my own 1.72.903 T-Mobile based) with many extras that might suit your wishes.
Read the sticky post from dcs to fix & prevent upgrade errors to avaoi Identity crises.
The current ExtROM version of the imate is 1.72.800.
How (and why..) can I upgrade the Radio version to 1.17 (my current is 1.14.
@amir : you could replace radio.nbf from your upgrade with another 1.17 out of some recent update.
Just watch the country code.
and do not try to update radio alone. just reupdate with existing OS rom, new radio rom and existing EXtrom
About the why I'm not so sure. I don't recall the benefits of 1.17 against 1.14. maybe you could do a search.
Only rom part that can be left out with a rom update is the ExtROM.
You MUST upgrade Radio & OS at the same time as a minimum.
The ExtROM can also be updated via the ExtRom Tools (which is less dangerous than flashing.
Have loaded all the latest updates available but original BT problems still remain. I have a Nokia CK-1W car kit which has always refused to work though I did get some success using the Pocket Bluetools stack ( incoming calls only ). Don't know of any other solutions for BT right now ???
Well I have the T-Mobile 1.72 ROM already (with Orange 1.66 ExtROM) and the Bluetooth is still rubbish.
Oh well, one day!!
PS Pocket PC tools looked promising for a while but I couldn't get it to work with Parrot. Have there been any updates since April?
Cheer
BT is working just fine (thanks god ).
I am pairing daily with GPS receiver & BT headset, no problems at all.
I just upgrded my ExtROM, with official update from iMate, I think I'll skip updating the radio, since I see no known reason for that.
BTW, I just heard a rumor saying ROM 1.77 for the iMate, will on the air within 1-2 weeks.
The update contains radio 1.17
Get the 2.02.t1WWE Windows 2003SE upgrade which is available on this site from DCS.
I recently upgraded my device and it now works with my Nokia CARK-1W bluetooth car kit. I have tried every upgrade available up until this one for a fix without any joy so I am rather please with the results !!
Incidentally, performace on my XDAII has improved over the last ROM.

New MDA II - Where to start with? Advantage of WM2003SE?

Hi,
on Christmas i got a MDA II.
I started reading a lot but yet im a bit unsure where to start with.
My current system is:
T Mobile MDA II
ROM: 1.03.00 GER
Date: 09/25/03 (seems to be quite an old one, huh?)
Radio: 1.05.12
Protokoll: 1337.12
I already know there is a 1.72 Rom update from t-mobile out, which is probably the first thing i should "install".
The next thing i am curious about is WM2003SE. I noticed a lot of people seem to use it here, so what's the advantage to the current system? Will the english version mix up any German programms? WM2005 on the other Hand seems to be a bit buggy on the Himalaya?
Im going to use my MDA for Navigation with a BT Mouse, will upgrading on 1.72 + WM2003SE fix the Bluetooth issue?
Any other hints on "must have's" tool, software, updates?
Thx for any advises.
Hi, I also have the VPA 2 (the same like yours just from Vodafone).
At first I also had the original Rom from Vodafone. After a while I testet WM2003SE, which is much more stable then the older one. Bluetooth is also working better, no need of Bluetooth Tools anymore. The only bad thing is that its on englisch , but that is ok. It doesn't change your other Programms, when they are german they will stay german.
WM 2005 is also not bad, but not all the software is working there.
PS: For navigation use TomTom 5, its really great, and especially the warning Function of Points of Interest is great.

Hi Björn,
welcome to XDA-Developers.com (Herzlich Willkommen, es ist immer schön jemanden Neues aus Deutschland begrüßen zu dürfen)!! If you're looking for 3rd party programs, have a look here:

If you're looking for the T-Mobile 1.72.170 ROM upgrade, go here:

Which provider are you using your MDA II with? I'm using mine with E-Plus but am having problems with the GPRS settings. Entering them manually doesn't really work.
Thx for the links.
Actually, i don't really use any provider. I hardly used any mobile phones, so i only had an vodafon prepaid card. However i am currently looking for a well-priced option to use internet with my pocket pc.
@da4walker: Which WM2003SE build are you using?
IN Device Information there is shown: 2.20.07CHS (but its englisch)
Build from the 09/17/04
It's working really good, thats why I didn't try any other version
cu
The 2.20.07 translated SE ROM is the fastest and most stable SE rom for Himalaya imho.
You might want to try my cooked rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=39938
Its just the 2.20.07CHS and 1.18 radio but with a generic ExtROM.
Advantages f this rom above the 1.72 or 1.75 non-SE roms are Intellidialer, Landscape, again better BT support (although with 1.72 you did not need those BT Tools anymore too)

From 2003se to 2005 back to 2002 ?

Hi,
I´m haveing a XDAII from O².
For 2 Month ago I upgraded it to WM 2005 to test the Navigation Software.
Ans Now I have to use 2002.
Is there a chance to downgrade my WM 2005 to 2002 ?
Thanks in advance.
[EDIT]
Ah sorry I now see I already downgraded to 2003se
pocketpc2002 have never been released for xdaII
are you sure you dont mean 2003 ?
the upgrade is the same nomatter if you up or downgrade
thanx for your answer.
I need to check the navigation soft. with the Qtek 1010.
And I thought if I can upgrade my Himalaya why not downgrade it to 2002
windows on pc's have setups for all types of pc's
pocketpc's which are more limited in rom size
ONLY! have the setup of the hardware they have
so rom are eunuiq for each device
no pocketpc2002 rom was ever made (as far as i know much less released) for himalaya
much like wm2005 was never released for Qtek 1010
