Hi all
i've spent an hour trawling through posts, but i haven't got very far.
I've now upgraded to the 2.02 Winows SE - dcs's. I got the error that 'this application cannot run...'. dcs warned about it and said you have to edit config.txt otherwise the applications won't install.
I then went through posts and tried ERedit2003 to edit the existing rom, but for some reason i can't see the files, i've only got one tab saying 'ROM Info'.
I also tried xda2nbftool.exe in the upgrade zip file, but that doesn't open up a window which i can use.
Can someone help. i'm really desperate to get this sorted.
Thanks!!!
got a little further... i've now been able to show the Extended Rom using this tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=6470&highlight=tutorial+extended+rom
However, i can't edit the WM2003SE_Upgrade Rom since there is no ms_.nbf file there. I have also downloaded the Rom version which lists config.txt, but how can i get that onto the XDAII?

Hi guys,
I've got an XDAII and I want to be able to see / edit the extended rom...
I've found the cab files I need (elsewhere in this forum) but I have no idea whatsoever how to use them?!?!
I can't run them, so there must be either an app I need or somewhere I need to put them, right?
Please help
Thx
Have you transfeered the cab file to your phone and executed from there?
It's a cab file. You put it on the XDA II in a folder of your choice, then run it, after reboot you will find a new icon in Programs. The rest is simple.
When I try to run it I get:
The is no application associated with "00unhide". Run the application first, then open this file from within the application.

Please post the link to the exact file so I can download and test it.
I just got it working...
After I downloaded the .cab, as I have WinRar I thought that it was something that needed extracting and it didn't!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/download.php?id=567
that's the link anyway, but it works perfectly!
Sorry for being such a idiot
No problem, hope its all sorted for you now.

Hi, I also need to cab file to make my camera work on my 02 XDAII. I copied the cab file that was posted to my storage card and executed it. It said it copied the information correctly but I don't see an icon for the program. Do I need to do anything else after running the cab file?

If cab file was installed corectly, it doesn't need to do anymore.
If you doesn't found CAMERA icon in Program, you may try install again.
By the way, Camera program is always put in Ext ROM.
if you flash your ROM with official ROM, no need to do anymore.
But if you flash with your custom ROM, you need to make sure that in your Ext ROM include camera-cab file.
you can use extended ROM viewer or extended ROM unlocker to view your Ext ROM.
Thank you very much! I installed the Ext. ROM viewer and saw the camera cab file in there. When I executed the camera cab file, the camera icon reappeared in the programs directory. Thanks again!
Glad to hear that
Happy new year
Hi tumtum
thanks for the files
but now i can't see the mms icon in program folder but i can see vedio icon
is there any other file for that

Hello, i've posted this before and tried to contact several experienced members, unfortunately, no one was able to help or didn't reply. I've tried all types of ROMs including factory\official ROMs yet i keep having the same issue. I went through several guides and followed all the steps correctly, yet still this issue!
This is the original thread i had posted earlier:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=364059
I went through many posts on this and it seems other people have the same issue yet no one has replied to them with a solution...
While experimenting on Korands 2.5 & 2.6 roms (btw great work!), everything goes well until i need to "dump xip". When i run this i get the following error:
Xip2.bin: No such file or directory
...and after that no files are copied and i can't go further than that to build the ROM.
Appreciate all the help!

Ok try this
Use msflshtool from scooter kitchen
It will dump the os.nb file in 2 or 3 parts ....the 1st part is the xip. Rename that 1st file to xip.bin and run the dumprom tool. Instructions are also included in scooter kitchen inside the same folder.
Thanks villaboy25 for the help! I tried the tool and it worked, yet i got another error down the line which has to do with the XIP extraction process. Apparently part of the extracted files should include a boot.rgu. I got this error when i loaded Build OS.
Appreciate your help there or anyone else's. Are there steps or files i'm missing in the beginning? I've tried the kitchen on my desktop and laptop yet still facing the same issue.
Thanks!

msflshtool is what i will suggest. you can use rommaster to dump the xip too. all you have to do is to find where your xip partition starts in os.nb (msflashtool doesn't work with Kaiser roms for example)
since you have already dumped your xip (hopefully with xipport) then you wont have any problem. extract the xip partition with msflshtool then dump it with xipport. i think that's all. if you dump the xip with xipport you will get the boot.rgu. you have to put this file in your Kitchen\ROM\XIP folder.
hope it helped.
I am having having problems opening OS.nb file with msflstool.
It's Korands 2.6 ROM.
Any ideas?
Never mind, I figured out...

Hey guys, would greatly appreciate the help with installing swype.
My first concern is what i've been seeing with users being locked out of their phone due to incorrect passwords after installing swype. Does anyone have the cab for a version of swype that DEFinitely does not do this?
And onto my biggest problem:
When i copy the cab onto my external memory and run the "_SETUP" file on my STOCK FILE EXPLORER it just opens the file as if it was a link on a website.
Do i need to download a new file explorer? or can i just use the one that came with the phone.
I cant seem to find a Do it yourself tutorial anywhere online please help!!
I have a hd2 from hong kong.
basically, stay away from swype 3.9 from the tmous. it checks your model and if it isn't a tmous it messes with the password.
as to the _setup issue, it sounds like you have unpacked the .cab
the pc will see a cab and think it is a type of zip, with (usually) 4 files inside, and try to unpack it if you double click it. instead, you should move the whole filename.cab as a single file to the phone and run it from there.
hey samsamuel. thanks for your help
i'm at work right now but will try this when i'm home. just a qick question, do you have any suggestions as to which version of swype i should downlioad?
i know there are many versions out there and am curious as to what a veteran like yourself chose,
many thanks
i use v2.i'll post it when i get home.
I will say i haven't searched for this one yet but i probably will a little later if i don't get any quick responses.
Now to my question. I'm trying to create a cab file that i can use to install some registry changes from the performance tweak thread. The file is specifically based on the memory tweak cab file that is available there but because i use the energy standard 6.5.x series roms there are a couple of tweaks that cause the phone to stop booting correctly. So i have extracted all the original files and modified the xml file appropriately. I've then recompressed them into a new cab file but if i try to install it i get an "not installed successfully error" so obviously i'm doing something wrong but i have no idea what. Anyone got any ideas?
What software did you use to make the cab file?
I actually first tried to create it with winace and that was the problem. Winace just creates the cab as a storage file and not as an installable cab file. I've since searched coz i didn't get a quick reponse and found quickcab. Did the trick nicely. I've tested it on my phone and i've now posted the finished file in the energy rom thread. You will find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8078336&postcount=24318
At beginning I create .caps I used QuickCap (in the attachment). In the .zip for you is the Programm and guide only in german but with pictures. I think you can understand it, its very simple. Now i used the WinCE CapMgr, but you must pay for it, so I can't share.

Quickcab did it for me and i will continue to use until it my needs exceed it but i have to say i figured out to use it in about 10 seconds (literally). Kudos to the developers for making a very intuitive and easy to use program. Not many out there that are that specialised and that easy to use.
