Today Screen Horizontal Lines - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

Purely a cosmetic enhancement - does anyone know if there is a way to get rid of the horizontal separating lines on the today screen? Is there a way to disable them/change them to invisible/remove them?

I've been after doing this for aaages, but noone ever seems to know how. There is a way via installing a tweaker thingy (I forget the name of it now but always when I installed it in the past it was a waste of resources and prone to crashes) and because of that I assume there is a registry hack for it somewhere...I've never been able to find it.
If anyone does know or cojones if you find out, I'd be interested in what the answer is.
Cheers
Anthony

bump I'd like to know too.

Keyboard backlight

Hey Ive seen issues with people having trouble with the distribution of LEDs on the keyboard with not seeing keys and others to bright and thats not me haha. I was wondering though if anybody knew a registry hack or something that would let the backlight on the keyboard stay on longer than 5 seconds? That is the biggest annoyance of this phone that ive seen so far.

Do a search for a utility called Advanced Config, it has a setting to change the backlight timeout, among a lot of other things. You'll need to have the ARM4i version of ppc .NET 3.5 installed also.
BEWARE: Use the tool at your own risk. Don't turn menu animations and start menu animations on, as it has caused my start menu to go really wonky (all the colors are jumbled and its impossible to read) Turning this off made it behave as expected. Just a warning
Hey thanks man. I didnt even know that setting was in advanced config and ive used since the mogul lol.
Doesnt work
I have tried the tweak in advanced config and nothing changed, has anyone else had luck with this?

This is one of the most annoying things about the TP. Anytime you pause for 5 seconds the keyboard backlight goes off! Grrr!
No kidding. I completely disabled the light sensor on my P4000, it was always on as long as the slider was open. I even watched an hour long episode of top gear while I sat in a Mazda dealership while having an oilchange done on my car.
I too have been equally frustrated with this. With no solution in sight, I think I might have thought of a program that could save our sanity. The only problem is that i've only THOUGHT of it and it doesn't exist yet. I've started a thread in the 'Development and Hacking' section. [Q] Different orientation transition?

So a while back in the G1 launching days, I had a JesusFreke rom I believe and it had this option in Spare Parts where whenever the orientation would change, it would do like a zoom out, wiggle, and zoom back in kind of thing.
The Spare Parts app today doesnt have that option anymore and I've been lookin everywhere to find this!
Does anyone know what Im talking about/know where I can find it?
Thanks in advance!

[Q] Changing "hardware" buttons function / rebind

I have searched and haven't found an answer to this yet.
I hate the "Search" hardware button in the lower right of the Vibrant. I never use it, and I keep bumping it when I grab the phone, bringing up an annoying screen I have to close.
Is there a way to disable it, or at least rebind it to something useful (like Vlingo) ?
I'm running the stock OS from t-mobile, rooted.
Thanks in advance,
~A

It is possible to access the camera without typing pin to unlock phone?

Hi,
I have been looking this for long time. So it is possible to access the camera without typing pin to unlock phone?
Because WP7.5 and iOS can handle this but why not Android?
My HTC One X has this. Can use volume keys (i think it's volume keys anyway) to get camera and choice on my xoom to have various apps icons on lock screen. I had the camera taking photos via lock screen on my phone last night until I changed it. I think it was volume keys, I was pretty worn out from insomnia and fumbling the phone when picking it up to use it to pass time while not being able to sleep from pain induced insomnia.

That is not the answer because if I make that nice smart move to activate Camera. It still ask first my pin-code and after that opens Camera.
So Android can't handle Camera in sandbox mode?
Has anyone found a solution?
i would like to know the answer to this also was a handy feature on the Iphone for sure
Don't think there's a way to do this. The point of the pin is so no one can access any function of the phone without the pin. AFAIK there isn't a mod that bypasses this
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Instead of making a new thread i would like to ask is there any update to this?
I know the htc phones are able to do this by dragging the camera to unlock it.
But if someone can develop this for the S3.
I know some people have played around with Sense 4.0 with s3 its still glitchy.
The main reason i want this is so i can take pictures and video immediately instead of having to put my 8 character password in and if there something interesting to record such as a dispute or police brutality or anything really we can pull out and record for future use.
Thanks for reading hopefully someone out there atleast attempts this to see if there is a solution.

Yes, there is a solution even on a password locked phone... try camera unlock : https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=Aeropic

You can bypass the pin and open the camera with Xposed framework and a module.

[Q] App / lockscreen with quick call to contacts? (For kids.)

Hi.
Either my ninja skills in googling has lost it's mojo today, or what I'm looking for doesn't exist. Which would seem quite stange.
I have an old unused phone running Android 2.1, I think it's a Samsung GT-I5600 or something very similar. My three year old daughter have all the computers and tablets she could ever want, so I would like this one to be a very simple telephone that she could use to make calls to preset numbers and nothing else. I would like a screen lock that's easy to unlock and then just two big pictures or buttons. One for me and one for her mum. That button should make a call, and nothing else. Perhaps there could be a hidden preference whenever the call should be made thru the speaker or not.
To me this seems like something someone must have thought of before me, but as i wrote... I can't find anything like it.
Do you know of any app / lockscreen like this?
Turns out it was possible to achieve this, with a bit of fiddeling around, with Holo Launcher and Holo Lock. There are some quick call apps that seems promising too.
