Hi, Can one of you lot help me out 'Again' Ive got a FUjitsu Siemens S6120 Lifebook with plugfree bluetooth software installed, when I try and connect to my XDA 2 (WM2003 2nd) I can only get the following services available : Dial up networking , Service Discovery and voice gateway.

XDA/Activesync/Passthough - Use XDA as a Modem?

Hi all, this has probably been asked b4. I'm wanting to use my Sony notebook on the internet using the GPRS connection of my XDA. I'm told MS Activesync's passthrough facility allows this.
Has anyone done this and what is the procedure? Do I need extra leads or can I use the cradle?
I'm visiting Spain soon and hope I can use it on the Movistar network although this is quite expensive I plan to use Yahoo Messenger & MSN Messenger only.

John

I guess in that case a quick use of the search function would have been in order...

It does not: it only allows the XDA to use the network connection on the PC, not vice-versa
If you upgrade to the latest Qtek 1010 ROM and get a serial cable (or use infrared), you can use the XDA as a modem. This site still contains another procedure for using the XDA as a modem, but using the Qtek upgrade is superior...
Thanks for the reply,
I did infact use the search facility but didn't find the answer to my question. I used the following words in my search 'activesync' & 'passthrough'. I read through many of the results but without finding the specific information. I therefore thougtht it appropriate to post my request.
I hope I didn't offend anyone.
I guess part the problem for some of us 'not in the know' type, when someone refers to qtek rom upgrade we are left wondering if this is specific to our hardware. I have an XDA on o2 network and qtek means nothing at all to me.
Thanks again for the reply.

John
PS Going to find out what qtek means!
As for as I can tell, QTek is some middle-man brand that handles software specifics for mobile phone operators around the world.
I've mirrored Othmans ROM updates at:

Has anybody got the WModem program working with IR?

internet connection through ppc

Hi,
I had a query. I use GPRS to surf the internet from my qtek 2020. I want to know If I can surf on my pc using ppc (GPRS) via the USB cradle, since I don't have serial cable.
I have read lots of discussions to surf the net on ppc using pc via lan/USB etc, but none where it says how I can use a USB cradle for the reverse process.
The reason for this is, I have unlimited usage scheme for my GPRS connection. (RS. 500 per month approx. 8-9 euros only). It is much cheaper than broadband connections, therefore I'd rather connect on my pc using ppc.
Thanks
Manish
if your xda2 have wireless modem installed then you can surf from your pc using the usb cable or bluetooth or seriel or what ever you like
Problem with Modem
Hi,
I'm trying to connect to the web via GPRS through USB and IR, but I am having no luck...
I have followed the instructions and used the files on the XDA official website, but everytime I try I get a message like error 732 or "could not connect to your device" the PDA flashes yellow for a few second before the error message...
Anyone elese had this problem? Is there a solution or do I need to upgrade OS? I still have a 1.53... Orange
Thanks,
Chris
read thumper's post he looks like he can get it to work
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=9770
maybe he got some idears
I can now use my PPC as a Wireless modem with Ir
Thank Rudegar!
I read the post... at the beginning seemed out of topic, but then I have found the clue!!!
I think the proble was releted to the use of the SPB GPRS software... I could coonect to the GPRS service from the phone, but not using it as a modem... maybe we should tell it to the SW producer?
I also found out, strange, that the dialing string (the one with the APN" was within an extra set of "" which I don't remember to have inserted...
ANYWAY NOW IT WORKS!
Next step is to get it to work through USB... is that SW was the problem I'll have a positive answer soon!
Thanks again,
Chris

Wallaby And Wifi

Hello every one ,
Right so now that my SX 56 has been fixed and upgraded to WM 2003,i've got one question:
Is it compatible with those wireless wifi SD cards?
or is the model to old?
many thanx geniouses !!
No, you need an SDIO slot which these handsets don't have. Sorry.
Check this out then, i don't understand, according to this site it is compatible! http://www.pdassistant.net/Siemens/SX56.htm
"Siemens SX56 GPS capable PDA"
judging from this too then most likely they got it a bit wrong
dutr it's gps capable but only if you get an wired external
gps dongle which well does everything gpsWise and send info
over the serial port
in which case many many things are GPS capable
my old 486 pc in the attic too it have a comport too
ok so if i got it right , the update from WM2002 to WM2003 FINAL was useless if i can't use the network card option in the connections menu.
i 'm just trying to find a way to connect to the wireless internet!!
with wallaby the only have to connect it using usb to a pc which have wifi
and access it's wifi using activesync

The wallaby has no WiFi hardware. Nor can you use an SDIO WiFi card, the hardware simply does not support SDIO devices. You can use GPRS, the datacable or infrared (wouldn't recommend this since you'd have to maintain constant line of site).
So how do i do this with GPRS then cause i can 't seem to get internet explorer
recognise any WAP or WEB pages , even thought i 've got the right settings,
many thanks

[Q] HELP!!! using 3g dongle with tablet to make call

Hi everyone,
I would like to know if there is an android app or any other methods or fixes or any ways to be able to make calls like a phone from a 3g unlocked dongle on a tablet pc that supports usb 3g dongles like there is software for pc's such as mobile partner? If there isnt can anyone one of you advanced android programmers create such an app or fix? The 3g dongle already supports call making and sms sending features. I have scoured the net for a solution but to no avail. I think this one is for the advanced xda developers. Thanks in advance and take good care.
Come on people!!! Somone must have an idea on this?
Bump!
Still no luck?

It has been more than two years since this post. Still no luck with such an app that allows calling through a usb dongle?
sry i know that threat is old.. but are some one know is there any way to use 3g dongle to use it to calling on my android device
lol to this day there is no software or fixes for 3g/4g dongles except ONLY ONE....... heres a thought though! there are new mobile sim calling devices being manufactured these days where you insert the mobile sim card into the device which has a telephone and a keypad and you can make calls, perhaps its because of this reason there are no softwares, SOME SORT OF BLACKLISTING. to allow sales.
the android app you need is called PPP Widget. theres an old version and a version 2 try them both.
