where can i get himaupgradeut_197.exe? - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

after some extensive googling, a lot of swearing and general frustation, i simply cant seem to find himaupgradeut_197.exe, can anyone here be so kind as to point me in the right direction?

Why do you want to search for that file? If you want the file to upgrade your Xda II, well I think I got the right file for you (without '_197' at the back).. Anyway, this file came with 'HimaClearJumpCode.exe', 'HimaGetDevice.exe', 'ms.nbf', nk.nbf' and 'Radio.nbf', which is necessary when upgrading
Hope this is the right file..

well, the _197 version of HimaupgradeUT is supposed to ignore Country and language codes, afaik, i have all the other files for upgrading, as ive already upgraded to WM 2003 SE

Pocket PC 2003 Phone Edition

Hi all.
I've just joined this Forum, because I think my Qtek 1010 is a great device, which I want to use as wide as possible though I am a non-tech. I saw this Forum and I am very impressed and amazed of all what's going on here. I can clearly see that there is a lot to learn about my device and I also realize that people posting here knows A LOT about PDA's. But I hope reading all the great topics will help me better understand what happens inside my PDA and maybe even make me able to do things myself.
I would like to upgrade my Qtek from PPC2002PE to PPC2003PE. Having read the warnings about upgrades I am a little confused and also afraid to screw up. My device has ROM version 3.14.06.ENG, Radio version T313 and Protocol version 32S54. So far it has never been updated before. I bought it in Denmark, where no updates are available.
I would really appreciate if someone has detailed step by step (as I saw another user call "dumbass") suggestions on what to do (right versions of ROM and Radio versions etc....).
Sincerely,
Luffe
Ok here you go!
Updating your Qtek ROM using the 'SD Card' or 'Bootloader' Method

Just ignore the radio updates unless your carrier issues one for your device. For a ROM upgrade, find the link to Jeff's Kitchen and create yourself a PPC 2003 custom ROM in .exe form, download it, and run it with the device in the cradle. Simple as that.
You will, of course, lose all data on the device. DO NOT restore a full backup. You can selectively restore non-system files and data.

WM2003SE for iMate Pocket PC (asia)

Hi Folks,
I'm using iMate pocket PC which i bought from India. Its awesome while sync with my exchange server and get me entire mailbox of mine to the device.
I also want to check whether i can enjoy the WM2003SE on this device. I have been reading quite a few posts on WM2003SE for XDA here (i'm not sure whether this is the right forum to talk bout the iMate; however, i tried coz i seen a category for HTC).
I know for sure that the vendor has not yet published WM2003SE for iMate PPC. however, Could anybody please let me know if i can upgrade my iMate to WM2003SE (i'm crezy about it and a couple of days back i just decided to use one of the upgrade from this site and somehow cud hold myself as i cud not predict what its going to do with my device ). If its possibel, from where shall I get the upgrade?
thanks in advance.

Hi Columbus,
thanks for the response,
Wud this upgrade work with the iMate Pocket PC from India?
thats what is the concern for me. I have seen threads where we need to modify the .nbf files for the operator / country codes. Do i need to modify the .nbf file for this upgrade?

From Today screen, goto START/Settings/System/Device Information.
What's your ROM version/date, Radio version etc?
You can search and check out DCS posting on how to check the operator code on the .nbf files and your devices.
Alternatively, if you are not too worry about changing the operator code (since the upgrade to WM2003SE voids warranty anyway), you can run the upgrade only with HimaUpgradeUt.exe (remove the HimaGetDeviceData.exe and HimaClearJumpCode.exe).
There exists many tutorials/tips from people who have tried the upgrade, so have a good read and copy the important tips.
Some general tips from me:
(a) Backup all your important data (calendar schedule, docs, contacts etc)
(b) Be mentally prepared to spend quite awhile doing the upgrade. Smooth upgrade -> 1-2 hours, Error-prone upgrade -> 1-2 days.
Do not rush, or you will find that 99% of the time, the error happens because you are careless. Always clarify, clarify, clarify.
(c) If encounter errors, copy the sequence of events, EXACT error messages, search for similar errors reported here. If unable to find, post your errors to request for urgent help!
(d) Also, if you have the luxury of a spare phone, keep that handy in case your mobile phone connectivity is indispensable to you.
(e) If all else fails, be prepared for a downgrade back to the original ROM. Remember to download the original WM2003 ROM package as well.
good luck!

Cheers
Hey,
I just ran the himalayut.exe and i'm sure there was no ms_nbf file in the directory
So, I beleive the ext ROM was not present and its not installed.
Can anyone give me a good ext ROM which i can use to with my iMate (asia)?
Thanks.

whats orange uk operator code?

I think this is a stupid question but having spent 2 evenings trying to find it
I decided to bite the bullet and ask!
I fear it might be "ORANGE UK" making my question even stupider????
also when I run himagetdevicedate on my m1000 I get a file in windows folder cal deviceinfo but it just contains a "U" and nothing else - any ideas?
thanx
As far as i know, it is ORANGE . I might be wrong, but I have flashed my phone more than a few times and I am sure that is what comes up on my Himagetdevicedata text file. When you run getdevicedata, you need to copy the generated txt file to your PC to be able to read it, otherwise you will just get rubbish. Have you tried that?
HTH
Fin
thnx
seems to work! - thanks mate

Cooking an ExtROM

Since getting my XDAII a few days ago, I've been impressed with the number of customisations possible, and have managed to acheive a number of different tasks, however, I have as yet to cook my own ExtROM for it.
This is something I would very much like to do, and I have acquired an ms_.nbf from the end of the line update that O2 provides from their website.
I have all the necessary tools to do it, and I know exactly how to, but I do not know which packages I need to keep in order to have a PDA with fully functioning bluetooth, blackberry and ad nauseum. alternately, as I'm sure that there is probably an ExtROM with all the bare essentials in it (and probably newer version essentials too) so if someone could point me to one, or the other I'd be very grateful, and whatever it is, I am definitely interested in dumping O2Active.
you dont need to mess with nbf files to cook an extented rom
you can just use the tool to unhide and unlock the extented rom from the xda and remove the cab files you dont want and
add the ones you want and change the config.txt file to include the new stuff and exclude the stuff you removed
then you just lock and hide the rom and hardreset
and the rest if history
I know, but someone else wants a custom ROM, and they're too far away for me to get hold of their PDA to do it that way.
all I need to know now is what .CAB files I need to include to have everything functioning, then I'll bung on extras
I guess this is a trial and error jobby then.
now something I've wondered that should be simple to answer;
when flashing on an ExtROM, is it possible to flash ONLY the ExtROM, or is it mandatory to flash the OS and radio as well, on pain of trashing the PDA and reducing it to only the bootloader.
well, through trial and error I've got it all sorted, thanks to everyone for their help... oh, wait, I didn't get any help, but many thanks to Rudegar.
Sure, you don't owe me anything, but if a forum's been setup for the purpose of giving help, it sure would have been nice to have received some rather than just getting ignored because I haven't made enough posts yet to join whatever religious PDA sect you happen to run exclusively to help eachother.
rant over, I've made my point, perhaps something positive can come of it?
Just yesterday I created my first "EXTENDED ROM" and installed it by myself for my friends XDA II, all you need is EDIT2003 program thats on the wiki somewhere. Then you can open the ms_.nbf, and edit the splash images and the files it will install on the hard reset, then just install it to the phone using the rom upgrade procedure but put the extended rom in and delete the nk.nbf and the radio_.nbf tah dah!

Howto Rotate Screen.

A few day's ago i flashed my rom with 2003 SE from the rom kitchen. Due to various incompatabilities i reflashed with a more common 2003 rom.
However the "rotate" screen button was a nice feature in 2003 se. Does sombody know what program is responsable for this ? Or how i can mimic this behavour in 2003
Greetings,
Herman.
well you could try using...what was that....oh... "jslandscape" or "nyditot" ppc programs. before the 2003se rom came out i tried nyditot myself but found that it caused my device to hang...thus resulting in a hard reset. a LOT of people have been trying to bring the landscape application into the 2003 rom...fortunately the se came out and problem solved. for you; just make sure you back up your system as there's a good chance it'll hang...
I tried 3.04.00 ENG Microsoft (2003SE from the rom kitchen. However it was a beta build. And din't work with some aps i had running. Like worms.
I can't seem to find an current version anywere.
The best i found was 3.04 and that has serious compatibility issue's
Maybe you can upload your version ? or are you running 3.04 ?
Your warnings were correct. I needed to hard reset to recover from the instalation of nyditot. It overwrites serveral system files. And did not work on my device.
too bad you ended up having to do a hard reset. sorry mate but i'm using wm2005 on my unit. i still have the old wm2003se upgrade files stored in a cd but this is based on the asian rom...not sure if it'll work with you. i can send it...not sure if email will handle it though as i'm sure you know how big those files are. you could try searching for a more compatible rom over at buzz's website (buzzdev.net)...i would also think people there would be willing to help you out.
cheers
But you have different devices. He is talkig about the Wallaby and you have at least the Himalaya.....
Stefan
That is corect, But is there a newer version of 2003 se ?
