i wanna upgrade My XDA2 to WM2003SE with info:
Rom version : 1.60.00wwe
Rom date: 12/03/03
Radio Version : 1.08.00
Protocol Version 1337.18
ExtRom Version : 1.60.44
Where can i get the best file for upgrading? i've search all over the xda-developers.com using search menu, but i still can't get the file...i'm only found the tutorial about how to upgrading it...

You should post this message in the Himalaya Forum, cause if you don't have a wallaby and post this in the wallaby part, the chance is very low, that someone could help you.
Also i think, there are lot of posts of this topic...
Have you already took a look at the ftp-server? There should be the required files...

hmm, can you post a copy of your rom?
you can copy the rom with pmemdump from itsutils.
well it had that rom when i got it so i cant really compare it with 1.60 since i went from a xda1
i'll look into drumping the rom
but it does seem to have some auto settings and such for
some phone company
usually the phone company specific stuff is in the extended rom.

usually the build number is just the ExtROM right? example, the latest tmobile rom i saw in the other thread had 1.60.36, but the os was simply 1.60.00, and the radio was 1.10.00, and the extrom was 1.60.36
does that mean that IF we extract whatever newest rom that comes out in the future and see that it has the same osrom ver and radio stack, merely upgrading the ExtROM is the best way to go?
I mean i know people prefer to only flash the ExtROM, but that's because they want to cook something up. But what if you just want to upgrade and not waste time with the OS if you see they still have the same number, does it HAVE to come hand in hand to upgrade? Or could you just bypass the others and upgrade the ExtROM and expect it to perform like a real update?

Do I need a flash?

I am off to find a SDCARD in order to test it and give you guys an answer.
Instead of XDArit, use XDATools
But the thing is that, I am not sure if we could use XDATOOLS for XDAII

I have read the Himalaya Rom Flashing
so i get the exact file what the xdaii can read by the CHT rom
but i really need to know how to use the chs extended rom

I have downloaded the 2 CHS Files (CHS_dopod696_15200_2.rar & extentded rom chs.rar).
HOwever, when I used a ROM Editor Program (er2003edit) to open these files, it ended up with a pop-up windows saying "The Password seems to be wrong"....
Does anybody here got the idea on how to open these files.

I have a Simlocked o2 XDAII and having read through the forums, I feel confident that there is a solution within the info, I just can't be sure that I have understood which is the best option. There seem to be several suggestions, some based on which radio version you have, some based on which ROM version and given that the version numbers dont run in sequence, I'm not sure I have found the latest?
If someone could guide me as to which is the best/safest unlocking suggestion for an O2 XDAII with the following, I'd hugely appreciate it.

There are so many numerous threads out there i did try looking it up went to through a bunch of the threads but what can i say i am a n00b, I have an XDA II,

Now i want to learn if there are any upgrades for this particular phone not the un-released windows 2005 but offical ones i have no clue where to check up if there are and i bought this from Singapore and now reside in another country where O2 doesn't exsist. I expect to get flamed for this but i dont want baby steps just point me in the right direction thats all i ask for. I dont mind reading but i don't know what i am reading about either i see different ROM versions and what not and i can't make heads or tails of it. Your support will be most appericiated,

1. find out "what is".. these are "the things" we should know.

2. If you already know what we have to do, then we have to "hunting" the files..
we can go to ftp site or forum thread.

3. Read carefully about the instructions. read it again.
4. Find out what your XDA can be if you make a mistake and how to fix it again. Like Dead!, bootloader mode, country id error, etc. (search again ..)
5. Finally if you sure have the all "things" to upgrade your XDA2 to WM2003SE or WM5, just do it. don't forget to make a backup your old ROM and remember the motto well known from this site = use it at your own risk!
