can someone here tell me how to make cooked roms?
I want to make one for myself but i don't know how.
Wanna make WM2003SE with a little software addition.
And what tools r i'm gonna use.
cooking rom is only for xda1's
but you can unlock the extented rom and add programs there
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=ER2003Edit
so...
How can I change my bootloader image?
If I can't cooked my own roms what do i have to do if i wanna make my O2 XDA2 become WM2003SE with a few preinstalled program that I need.
Cause everytime I format all of my data will lost right.
I heard that WM2k5 doesn't lost it's data when the battery is empty.
thanks b4

I have a Qtek 2020 from Dubai (the middle east), my Qtek has a 1.66.00WWE Rom and I want to upgrade it to 1.72WWE, I found a ROM for the iMate, is this ROM compatible (by compatible I mean will it work if I start the installer) or do I need to do something to.
I got the Rom from here
Code:
http://www.mtekk.com.au/browse/page423.html
Yes you can upgrade without problems, then, eventually, edit the extended rom to get rid of iMate unnecessary stuff (if there is any).
Salam Hussain
ther is already exist 1.72 original Rom for Qtwk2020
in this post page 9
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=8403&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=200
Hi Hussain,
Did you install the ROM. I too have same Qtek2020 and have downloaded the relavent Rm but would like to know if any one else has tried it and their experiences. :?:
Also I would like to put some of my standard software in ext ROM. How can I make cab files for the same and also put in registration info. If not directly at least a text file with my ids and regcodes so that I can hard reset even away from my PC.
Hi Folks,
I'm using iMate pocket PC which i bought from India. Its awesome while sync with my exchange server and get me entire mailbox of mine to the device.
I also want to check whether i can enjoy the WM2003SE on this device. I have been reading quite a few posts on WM2003SE for XDA here (i'm not sure whether this is the right forum to talk bout the iMate; however, i tried coz i seen a category for HTC).
I know for sure that the vendor has not yet published WM2003SE for iMate PPC. however, Could anybody please let me know if i can upgrade my iMate to WM2003SE (i'm crezy about it and a couple of days back i just decided to use one of the upgrade from this site and somehow cud hold myself as i cud not predict what its going to do with my device ). If its possibel, from where shall I get the upgrade?
thanks in advance.

Hi Columbus,

Wud this upgrade work with the iMate Pocket PC from India?
thats what is the concern for me. I have seen threads where we need to modify the .nbf files for the operator / country codes. Do i need to modify the .nbf file for this upgrade?

From Today screen, goto START/Settings/System/Device Information.
What's your ROM version/date, Radio version etc?
You can search and check out DCS posting on how to check the operator code on the .nbf files and your devices.
Alternatively, if you are not too worry about changing the operator code (since the upgrade to WM2003SE voids warranty anyway), you can run the upgrade only with HimaUpgradeUt.exe (remove the HimaGetDeviceData.exe and HimaClearJumpCode.exe).
There exists many tutorials/tips from people who have tried the upgrade, so have a good read and copy the important tips.
Some general tips from me:
(a) Backup all your important data (calendar schedule, docs, contacts etc)
(b) Be mentally prepared to spend quite awhile doing the upgrade. Smooth upgrade -> 1-2 hours, Error-prone upgrade -> 1-2 days.
Do not rush, or you will find that 99% of the time, the error happens because you are careless. Always clarify, clarify, clarify.
(c) If encounter errors, copy the sequence of events, EXACT error messages, search for similar errors reported here. If unable to find, post your errors to request for urgent help!
(d) Also, if you have the luxury of a spare phone, keep that handy in case your mobile phone connectivity is indispensable to you.
(e) If all else fails, be prepared for a downgrade back to the original ROM. Remember to download the original WM2003 ROM package as well.
good luck!

Hey,
I just ran the himalayut.exe and i'm sure there was no ms_nbf file in the directory
So, I beleive the ext ROM was not present and its not installed.
Can anyone give me a good ext ROM which i can use to with my iMate (asia)?
Thanks.
It is so cool to change ROMs of XDAII like changing OS on PC.
but experience of HimaUpgradeUt.exe is a really nightmare sometimes.
yesterday I tried 3 times and had to kill all processes on my PC and detach all USB devices except the cradle.
however, sometimes I can upgrade ROM at first time but still takes very long time.
I guess the reason is the cradle use USB 1.1 and HimaUpgradeUt must upload 3 ROMs one by one.
Is it possible to use other way to burn that ROM?
especially when we just need to amend ExtROM only?
why don't you do your changes directly in the extended rom?
and do a hard reset.
This gives you the same result as upgrading without changing NK and radio.
ofcourse you'll need extended rom unlocker.

How to change directly in the extended rom?? I am newbie here!!
Any links or guideline for me?? Thanks!!
this is the original thread for the extendedromunlocker on himalaya :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=8422&start=0
it creates a folder in Programs : Extrom tools
choose unhide , reset
now there is a folder on your device : Extended_ROM
when you want to do changes :
Programs : Extrom tools : unlock
now do your modifications there like you would in ER2003Edit:
* copy/delete cabs
* edit config.txt (easier on PC)
lock when finished modifying, for safety
tip : I have extromunlocker in my extrom, avoiding to reinstall, after every hard reset.
thanks for your reply!!
I already tried and it works!!
And... it is very good idea to include the Extromunlocker too..
Since getting my XDAII a few days ago, I've been impressed with the number of customisations possible, and have managed to acheive a number of different tasks, however, I have as yet to cook my own ExtROM for it.
This is something I would very much like to do, and I have acquired an ms_.nbf from the end of the line update that O2 provides from their website.
I have all the necessary tools to do it, and I know exactly how to, but I do not know which packages I need to keep in order to have a PDA with fully functioning bluetooth, blackberry and ad nauseum. alternately, as I'm sure that there is probably an ExtROM with all the bare essentials in it (and probably newer version essentials too) so if someone could point me to one, or the other I'd be very grateful, and whatever it is, I am definitely interested in dumping O2Active.
you dont need to mess with nbf files to cook an extented rom
you can just use the tool to unhide and unlock the extented rom from the xda and remove the cab files you dont want and
add the ones you want and change the config.txt file to include the new stuff and exclude the stuff you removed
then you just lock and hide the rom and hardreset
and the rest if history
I know, but someone else wants a custom ROM, and they're too far away for me to get hold of their PDA to do it that way.
all I need to know now is what .CAB files I need to include to have everything functioning, then I'll bung on extras
I guess this is a trial and error jobby then.
now something I've wondered that should be simple to answer;
when flashing on an ExtROM, is it possible to flash ONLY the ExtROM, or is it mandatory to flash the OS and radio as well, on pain of trashing the PDA and reducing it to only the bootloader.
well, through trial and error I've got it all sorted, thanks to everyone for their help... oh, wait, I didn't get any help, but many thanks to Rudegar.
Sure, you don't owe me anything, but if a forum's been setup for the purpose of giving help, it sure would have been nice to have received some rather than just getting ignored because I haven't made enough posts yet to join whatever religious PDA sect you happen to run exclusively to help eachother.
rant over, I've made my point, perhaps something positive can come of it?
Just yesterday I created my first "EXTENDED ROM" and installed it by myself for my friends XDA II, all you need is EDIT2003 program thats on the wiki somewhere. Then you can open the ms_.nbf, and edit the splash images and the files it will install on the hard reset, then just install it to the phone using the rom upgrade procedure but put the extended rom in and delete the nk.nbf and the radio_.nbf tah dah!
i just got an old mda phone...the old one...
im still using WM4..
ROM version A.30.09 ENG
ROM DATE 01/01/04
RADIO VERSION : 3.23.00

hmnmmm..how use this rom??which one i have choose at romkitchen.de??
im still dont understand bout WM5,,WM5 its same with WM2003???
you pick the one you like to have
about wm5 then no wm5 is very very different from wm2003
with wm2003 the memory is devided between storing data
and running programs
in wm5 all! ram is for applications
and flash is for storing data on
on later devices then wallaby the user can access flash to put data on
on wallaby you cant
so even if somebody spend the months it would prob take to make a rom for wallaby one would not even be able to put a contact or phone number on it
let alone a program to make application memory into storage
oh..thanks..i already cook the roms,,,its working fine...
