The camera software on WM2005 is PANTS - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

The video is JUNK.
Does anyone know if i can install only the camera software from 2003se?

No. It just draws a black screen when you go to run it.

Does the Vzw TP have the VGA (front) camera?

I see something there, but no way to access it. Just curious if it's really there and if we might see some functionality for it in the future at some point.

what are you talking about? if you mean the clear light in the speaker on the front, its just and lcd light i havent seen it do anything yet
1. No, it does not have a front facing camera. On some GSM models, the front facing camera is in the upper right corner. See attached pic.
2. I believe the clear plastic bit you are referring to may be the light sensor that triggers the screen to blank when you hold the phone up to your ear during a call.
The versions of this phone that were manufactured for use in the United States will not have the forward facing VGA camera.
I would assume that the reason for this is that camera is marketed as a video conferencing camera not only for taking those lovely MYSPACE self portraits (you know who you are). Since it would have to maintain a video call, I beleive this would constitute streaming which I beleive all of the carriers are dead set against us doing unless we are payng for their services to do it.
Just my opinion.
Yeah, I kind of figured it out after playing with it for a while. I had seen specs that said the VzW TP had the camera. AAMOF, I believe one of the places I looked was on the Wiki:
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=1547&view=1 - From the Raphael Variants specs link.
So I thought I'd ask.

New Autofocus has Sound-Feedback - anyone else?

the first time the some clicky sound appeared when i used scansearch app for barcode scanning.
now with nodo we got this great autofocus
(i had to press the button to focus the image im sure)
but everytime it re-focus ill get a hardware clicky noise
hope its from the lens but i wanted to ask if anyone else got this?
My Mozart has that now too.. 8-O
the lens is controled by a electric field, when it returns to normal position (loses the electric charge) it makes that noise. it's all good

[Q] Is it normal that the back camera lens makes noise?

When I open camera app, the back camera lens moves front and back and makes 'clicking' noises as it sort of hits the glass in front it. When taking photos, cant hear any noise. but when switching to video recording mode, the same 'clicking' noises happens again. And switch back to photo shooting mode, the noises persist.
Is this normal? the noise the lens makes?

there shouldnt be an audible noise when Focusing, but certainly when switching from Photo/video there will be a slight noise as the Aperture/Stutter opens/closes etc, its not a major problem

I went to a Carphonewarehouse shop, and tried their demo phone, the lens doesn't make any noise. Besides, in my case, the lens physically moves front and back when you open the carema app and swith between photo/video shooting modes.
My camera does move and makes a slight noise when turning it on or switching to video mode. I assume that is normal behavior. Can't remember if it acted the same when buying the phone, meanwhile i changed the rom from KE1 to KE5 and updated camera from SamsungApps twice.
I had the same problem, it "clicks" two times if you activate the camera. Sometimes (but very seldom) I could even feel the "clicks" while holding the phone.
In some other thread I read a quoted statement from Samsung support that this is a malfunction and the camera will take damage over time.
Since I had the same problem, I contacted support and they asked me to factory reset my phone. That did not help and so they asked to send my phone in for checkup/repair.
Well, it should have arrived today at their repair facility, so I'll just have to wait and see...
yea, i thought i already broke the camera ;-)
Looks like majority, if not all, of S2 cameras behave like that, so i doubt it's a flaw. Some say it's normal, some say it isn't. Guess an official reply from Samsung could make some light on this.
Well, if the Samsung support wanted me to send it in because of this issue, I doubt that this is normal.
Anyway, it really seems normal - just got my phone back. They could not retrace my problem.
Nevertheless, if its turns out to damage my camera somewhere in the future, I have the repair voucher wich should help me in this case.

So your camera still clicks twice when opening it and switching to video mode ?
This is normal, the camera checks that it's ok (the aperture). It does this sometimes when starting up the phone as well.
Is it actually touching the glass cover or does the mechanics just making the noise?

The latter.
Just done some sets under a strong light and can confirm the lens is actually hitting some material. I assume that this is a hardware defect and will have to be fixed some time during your warranty period. When i get some time ill try make a video of it happening.

Actually, you will find that all OC cameras behave the same, i highly doubt that every SII device with an OC camera is broken
Ive had a few phones that do that. I wouldnt worry too much.
Well normal or not here it is, ive posted a youtube video of it happening. you can see the lens does in fact hit the glass.
I am posting this just as an insurance for all the members,so if the cameras starts failing for some reason we can prove it was happening from the very start and get some sort of defect fix?

I could bet 100 dollars that your camera version is OC. Could you please check ?
from what i can see it is down to camera firmware which makes the camera do it. i also think that why some do it and some dont is cause we have the wrong firmware for our camera on the phone. its just being able to get all the firmwares and workout which one doesnt make the noise for our phone
Can we revert back to older camera firmware without factory reset? Kinda regretting upgrading now!

Sony Z2 Camera problem

I know this phone has a lot of issues with overheating, especially while using the camera, but recently I bought this phone and it came with a very strange camera problem. I must say first that the phone isn't new it's already used but neverthelss I didnt expcet everything to be working flawless but this thing kind annoys me.
This is the problem that I am facing with watch?v=ANLkCRZ-M-g ( just paste this after youtube com because I am not allowed to post links )
Is is possible to be a software problem or just a camera sensor is not working properly ? Device is running on Marshmellow 6.0.1.
Thanks in advance. Help would be appreciated.
Hello, try to look into your camera glass lens, is it clear?? or you can see some scratches with random colors?
The video shows a kind of glare.
Is it the same in the dark or just in the daylight?
it would be better if you can post here some close photos of the camera lenses.
No matter what, light or dark, pic and video always have the same glare of light which sometimes change colour into pink or lightblue like the one shown in the video . No scratches found on the lens.
Here are the pics, just as above first type imageshack com and then the rest.

If the phone back cover and the camera lens are clear as you said and properly sealed than it is a hardware problem probably. camera could be replaced and it is not very expensive.

[IDEA] Dual Screen Camera Mode

Seems like an obvious idea that Samsung missed but I thought it would be cool if when using the camera with the main screen, the front screen could also be on showing the person you're taking a photo of a live preview.
If Samsung is lurking here maybe we could see it an update.
Anyone else think this is a good idea?
I had a similar idea when I used my phone for vlogging, if I could open the fold and still use the front screen for the framing of the shot, it could be great... but I doubt Samsung would do it...
its a small screen for anyone to see from a proper distance away, but yes it would be an added benefit regardless.
but i agree with the previous user. i doubt samsung would do it.
i think there is too much concentration on the S11 and Fold 2 at the moment, i don't think they will add very many "quality of life" updates to the fold.

I have switch to use front screen with latest update and Camera app ver
