Has anyone noticed that Tomtom 2.24 has problems with WM2003 on the XDA, after it's been run it gets rid of the small dot's used to select items (such as the ones next to On, Off, Vibrate on the Volume menu of the today screen) has anyone got a work around for this ? Only a soft reset seems to bring them back :!:
Cheers
Neil
upps, seems like I am not the only one having that problems
although it looks like I do not bring much hope to you on that, sorry ...

monika

Never had any problem with my xda.....
Running Tomtom version 2.24 on my own cooked German ROM 4.00.33 .
Stefan
There is no need to downgrade to 2002.
Just upgrade to TomTom 2.04 and GPS 2.08, format your SD Card and re-install the maps. Try to start without any additional POI files.
This should fix your problem.
After this, the TT 2 was running fine on my MDA with the 4.0.33 german ROM.

Upgrade to 2.04 ? But I am already using 2.24 :?: :?
My Dad has just got an XDA aswell, he's running the same rom as me (4.01.00 no extra cooked bits) and 2.24 with GPS 2.08 does the same on his.

I have the same problem on my MDA II, even after the ROM 1.60 upgrade: sometimes radio buttons and/or checkboxes just disappear. I don't think this is specific to TomTom, as I saw the same thing happen also while running other programs. It is also not reproducable, most of the time TomTom just works fine.
Doesn't bother me much though, as a soft reset is a matter of seconds.
Cheers
Daniel
I found that tomtom 2.05 and gps 2.09 is the best marriage. Tomtom 2.24 does have some bugs such as after planning a journey it takes ages to go to the navigator map.

Is that with WM2003 ?
Tomtom's site states 2.24 adds PocketPC 2003 support but to be honest is didn't even try tomtom 2.05 i just upgraded it straight away.
Cheers
Neil
where did you get the upgrade from?

Just put GPS 2.09 on and its nice to have the bar on the Today screen to launch tomtom, we'll have to wait and see if the problem with disappearing buttons still occurs, but it's been OK so far

I did not persevere with WM2003, it seemed to be very flaky on my XDA, I am sticking with XDA dev rom 1.2.
Swifty,
Many thanks. This has really got rid of alot of the bugs.
Does anyone know a url of a UK map update. The packaged map doesnt know alot of roads built over 18 months ago
Ashby
i followed all the examples bu i still had the missing radio buttons.
i tried every combo of updates and GPS versions. so i have kept the lastest versions.
however i have found a way to stop it occuring. it seems that the radio buttons only disappear after you launch the GPS software. i have avoided launching it and have used tomtom for a while now and the radio buttons have remained there.
Ashby, I dont thin tomtom do map updates as such, they release the new maps when the next version is released.
Yes, I kind of figured that. They hint on their website that map updates will be available when there data supplier gives them new data, but I suspect that they never will release an update and force you to by Navigator 3.
Bad show really.
A cool feature would be map editior, that way users can add new roads/ modify road layouts etc
Ashby
I purchased the Navigator USA version about 8 months ago and just last month TomTom sent me an email stating that map updates would be available soon. I followed a URL in the email and signed up for the updates and within a week I has seven new cd's that contained all the updated maps.
I don't have any complaints.
It must just be the UK!
never had a prob with tomtom v2.24 on v4.00.11 on v4.01.00 it took bluddy ages to load up and it hanged loads. but now that im on vA.30.07 it is a hell of a lot faster then v4.00.11 and seems alot better
Radio Buttons
Another confirmation on the radio buttons problem with TomTom. The problem is still there even with the latest version (2.24 & GPS 2.19).
But, I have been able to trace the bug down a bit. Can't prove it, but maybe others can confirm:
It seems the problem is related to the GPS-S/W. Whenever I change anythin on the configuration there, I lose the radio buttons until I do a soft reset. SPecifically when you change the COM-port, you lose the buttons.
We've been doing some GPS/NMEA S/W development around the serial ports ourselves. WM2003 has some ugly bugs in this area, such as hanging when you try to open a port that isn't configured or active).
But, as Microsoft points out: Its not a bug, its a feature (verify that the soft reset button still works)!! ;-)
ive got a problem with tomtom ver 2.0 on my xda.
I can only add 1 fav. location which is home...
now when I try to add further location by pressing down and highlighting this location to be added to the fav's nothing happens.
I have checked that its not my software by installing it on my compaq Ipaq and I can add as many fav's as I want but on the xda it will allow only 1 !!!
Any clues/ ideas or know problems.
solution .....perhaps
gotot the find tab from the navigator menu serrch for the address you want to add as a favourite - once it is displayed on the map tap hold release and then in the menu box click add to favourites.... hope this helps
that got it working now
cheerz..
can i install my tomtom in my other pda?
i mean is it the sn can use more than one time
Tom Tom requires activation for each device when it's first installed and you can activate a new device every 6 months. So yes you can but you need to wait 6 months after you first activate before you can reactivate.
I´m waiting for my new tomtom3 uk maps and sofware only
but I will be changing my laptop within a month
are you saying that if I install my tomtom in my laptop I wont be able to install it in again in about 3 weeks to my new future laptop until 6 months?
I wasnt aware that TOMTOM ran on laptops, I thought it was a pda only program, if you mean can you install TOMTOM to your old pda using a new laptop then yes you can, it only needs a new activation code if you get a new pda.
I spent ages trying to get TomTom 6 working and gave up, so instead thought i would use google to help me to get the latest maps working. They don't work though. Except for one which is new and does work on TomTom Mobile 5.20. Don't know why but its the only one, if you found another new one that works, post it here.
UK and IE plus major roads of WE-Map v660.1223
no need for TomTom 6 now!
they wont work becuase the new maps are teleatlas maps v675
the old ones are navteq v660
tomtom 6 doesnt work due to the screen res on phone
UK and IE plus major roads of WE-Map v660.1223 does work with TomTom 5.20 because thats what I use.
SO use TomTom 5.20 and the maps: UK and IE plus major roads of WE-Map v660.1223
thats the best you can get on this phone

I thought I found that TT6 didn't work because I couldn't get it to select the GPS, I couldn't find any way to get it to select the com port for the GPS at the bottom of the list of available com ports.
Tom Tom 6 does work on this phone.
Add the GPS device in Bluetooth manager to COM6. Make sure secure connection is off. Now use 'fakecursor' in TomTom6 to select com6. The devices will be paired and you can now turn secure connection back on in the bluetooth manager. Map 'fakecursor' to the camera button on the side of the phone. It will make Tomtom6 easier to use because you have instant access to the cursor when needed. When you disable fakecursor, it exits to the homescreen, but tomtom is still running, so just click ok button on the quick launch icon and it will take you where you last where in tomtom.
I couldnt get this combination to work the 5.20 freezes as it looks for the maps, havent even tried to set up bluetooth on it yet.
Does TomTom Mobile 5 work on this phone? I just get a garbled screen when I run the application. Do I need to get 5.2??
Hi Guys just wondering if this is common problem for the S740 ?
I was using my phone today with Mcguider I saw some bars pop up trying to get lock then since that it says hardware error and freezes the phone if I attempt to go into mcguider and the same occurs when I try google mpas with GPS.
Just wondering if this is a freak hardware failure or common fault so time to get a different model like HTC HD2.
thanks in advance.
Hy!
No its not an common problem......the GPS from Rose works still great for me...i´m using Sygic and Google Maps and all works perfect.....I think you should try to Reset your Phone....maybe an Software-Problem....or if you have to much money buy a new Phone... ;-)
I had problems like this in the past.
Had the same error this weekend and I think it has something to do with the QuickGPS data. I deleted the xtra.bin in the \Windows folder rebooted (did not redownload quickGPS data) and waited for a regular fix and it didn't hang on using GPS after that.
When I had this error in the past (2-3 times a year) it just worked again after a while without me doing anything. Thats why i suspect the QuickGPS data as it times out after 7 days.
I have the same issue,
Whenever trying to use a gps program the phone locks up. I tried reflashing the WM6.5 rom again but still no luck. But i'll try this quickgps thing.
Anyone know where I can find the gps settings? (it's com4 ?)
Thanks.
after removing the quickgps it no longer locks up the phone.
Thanks!
Garmin XT & Google Maps & Bing all work with the gps now!

Thanks I did reset the phone and now it works once again so I guess it is a common issue.
Nope I don't have too much money I just want a phone that works perfectly for all my gadget needs and up until this point it has been perfect shame they are not making a new model it appears that the candybar phone is getting less and less popular
I am having the same problem, i tried installing Sygic mobilemaps 10 and when i come to the language selection screens the phone wont respond to anything, it will launch the gps quickfix application in the back so i think it has something to do with that. resetting the phone does nothing. problem remains when i install sygic again. Anyone an idea ?
Hy!
Okay i don´t know about QuickGPS....i make the Update via Wlan manual and its disabled to download automatic when Navi runs and i had never probs with Navi on this phone...for me its the best phone i ever had...
...and it sucks that HTC doesn´t make a new Version of this phone....
to Renever:
Sygic MobileMaps10 works with Rose? Look here...
true its an great phone..... i will try old mcguider 2009 on it again.
I use the 2009 Version and it works Great for me on Frauhottelmanns 6.5er V1.00 there is no need to Upgrade to sygic v10...... "Never touch a running System"....;-)
well i received a message that my trial has expired on mcguider 2009 .... so thats why i figured lets try the new version....
Have upgraded to HD2 and using my diamond2 just as a tomtom.
Currently running latest TESS rom on it but does anyone have any recomendation for a super quick/lightweight ROM for just running tomtom on or how to have it just boot into tomtom?
Thanks
Topaz Essential 2.F WM 6.1 super fast !
never had problems using tomtom and stockrom oder energyrom
thanks.
Does anybody know how to get it to boot straight into tomtom?
Surely you just put the tomtom link into the start-up folder
thanks will give that a try
Any other hints to speed up rom, ie things I can disable/uninstall that won't be used as I will be only using it to run tomtom and nothing else
Tom Tom
I only use tom tom when I want a fast, dirty and quick gps soft so I never saw any problem with any rom at all. Tom tom is already fast, how faster do you want it ?
I have switched to igo primo for my main gps tasks. It'seasier for my wife and somehow it seems to get a gps fix far quicker than tom tom with energy rom. But of course the 3d features slow the soft after that.
Well I have removed touchflo 3d from today and deleted pkg from the startup folder.
main trouble now is how to bypass the "sim card is missing" screen, I have turned phone communications off which does it but this disables the gps.
Any idea's please?
ps any ideas if it possible to further speed up the loading of the OS?
Thanks
anybody know how to disable the phone part but to keep the gps
