Ringtone Programme under 2005? - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

I was using RingtoneX 1.43 and it wouldn't ring from the Rings folder, the 2.1a version won't actually let me exit from it once its open and I couldn't get Mort's to work with it.
Has anyone found a programme that seems to work well under 2k5?

MIDI Ringtones ARE possible

Alright, this is what I've found out so far. There is a utility called PSMPlayer which can save a regular MIDI file as a Ringtone. This saved MIDI format is compatible with WM2003.
If your MIDI file contains more than 6 instruments (including drums), then you have to reduce the number of instruments (I believe WM2003 only supports upto 6 instruments. Yes, I know, this sucks.) to 6. In doing so, you have to use your best judgement in order to see what instruments you want and which combination sounds best.
Happy ringtone making!
well i think the reason it only supports 6 is that its to make it compatable with polly. tunes(ie nokia ones)
As I have been testing this and all the nokia pollies i download work fine with my xda
sheran_g thanks great work now could you please show us a step by step on how can i convert a MIDI file with this software to be able to use it on my XDA so far i like the whoe program but it didnt work with or i may be missing something.

Has anyone been able to play midi ring tones on ppc2003?

They all work on my siemens s55 though, and sound top notch!
My favourite out of the ones that do work is black adder, this has replaced a .wav of bad boys I was using for a few weeks. Wonder whats next...
Martin
Hi....

MP3 as ringtone, possible?

Hi,
Is it possible to get mp3s as ringtones to MDA2? For midis, it's only a little plugin, isn't there same kind of plugin for mp3?
edit: Subject updated
ms like to push their WMA so thats the easiest thing to use
you can use a program like CDex which is free to convert mp3 to
wma
Well that might be the easiest way. Anyone have an idea why wma is allowed only as ringtone? It can't be assigned as alarm for example...
yeah it's odd guess they made the addon for rings because people wanted to have odd phone ringtones
and maybe the demand was not big on normal notifications so they dident bother
maybe it'll be in CE 2005 if it's not already supported in 2003SE
It's not supported in 2003 SE, I have installed it on my pda. I was hoping that more formats would be supported but no.. :?
You ca use MP3 for ring tones but you need WM10, In WM2003SE just ver 2.20 have WM10 .
wm10
i have xdaIIi which i was pleasently suprised to find has wm10 - however i can't find a way to use mp3 as ringtone - how is this done?
mp3 set as ring tone
this cab file let you set the mp3 tone as ring tone in your xda just install in your xda and choose your mp3 from the explorer and press with hold you will see in the drop menu set as ring tone.
With the Himalaya device?
Regardless of OS version?
I use caller id version 1.20 (build 18567)... i can assign mp3 ringtone for my contact... but i don't know whether this is because i use wm2003se ver. 2.20 chs or just because of the caller id.
anyone else want to try?
mp3 as ringtone
you can download audacity software, you can edit your favorite mp3 files and set the same as your ringtone....
Can anyone advise?
I've installed EnglishMP3SetRingtone.CAB as recommended on another topic here but am having no luck adding ring tones.
Viewing mp3s stored on my storage card I don't get the option to install as a ringtone by holding down over it.
If I look in the phone settings under system, I can see all the mp3s I have placed in Windows/Rings but if I select one & then press play no sound is heard. The only tone that does work is the default tone? Even stranger the other default tones that were installed on the phone such as bass, old phone & 02 tone are still listed but in the actual win/rings folder have disappeared.
If I go into Phone Contacts & try to assign ringtones for individuals it won't display any mp3s. Is the EnglishMP3SetRingtone.CAB meant to enable this to display MP3s?
This is all happening on an XDA 2i running Win 2nd Edition version 4.21.
Any advice gratefully appreciated.

i cant set mp3 as ringtone
i have execute cab file and add registry to wm registry
can u explaint how to install it ?
Phreakazoidz
O2XDAII
Rom XDA2JoJo+Sim Merged
The problem as I found is to do with either Pocket TV or pocket Divx. Can't remember which but if one of these is installed it stops MP3 as ringtones being displayed once you've installed the .cab.
Other than a hard reset I couldn't find away around it.

Buttons on a Motorolla HT820 Stereo Headset

I recently bought a HT820, and I got it working with my SX66, but the Play/Pause and the track forward/back buttons don't work. Is there any way to map those buttons to a function on the SX66?
Not that I know of (the 3900 stack doesn't seem to support the AVRCP profile). I'm looking for this, too...
I recently bought a HT820, and I got it working with my SX66
I have an XDAiis and have recently purchased the same headphones, I upgraded the bluetooth settings from the site below
ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/BlueAn...age BT 1.0.0.3900 and audiogw.dll - 1.33g.00/
I too can now listen to stereo audio but again the buttons on the right hand earpiece do not work.
I think that the problem lies with Windows media 10.
Try using TCPMP, which is free software, (use google), you will find that all buttons now work.
The software isn't as friendly to use as WM10 but at least the buttons fully operate on the headphones.
Good luck

How to force buttons work in WMP 10.
The buttons do not work because BtCeAvIf.dll contains some tricky code to control WMP. It looks for the skin file to parse it for the button positions and then send messages to WMP window. But the place in registry and the skin files themselves changes from wmp 9. So we need to fix both.
The idea is to make new skin files and force widcomm code to use them. WMP 10 should use the new ones of course.
Look in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Skins] în your device
There must be several string variables, we need "DefaultPortraitSkin" and "DefaultLandscapeSkin", there the paths to skin files, portrait192.skn and landscape192.skn (or 96 for non VGA devices)
Find the files in \\Windows folder and copy them on PC. Rename them in e.g. _portrait192.skn
and _landscape192.skn
Then open them in notepad (turn word wrap off in it).
Find "PlayPauseStop" and delete all in and later columns (remove everything after 0,0,0). This line should look like all other buttons defininitions. Rename "PlayPauseStop" in "PlayPause" and align all.
Copy the new renamed files back to device.
Create new registry key
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Media Player\Parameters]
"DefaultLandscapeSkin"="\\Windows\\_landscape192.skn"
"DefaultPortraitSkin"="\\Windows\\_portrait192.skn"

It works with my Anycom headset! Thanks!!!
Just make sure you replace every number 192 in the trick with 96 (as the Blue Angel is a QVGA device). Oh, and the double backslashes in the registry strings at the end should be single backslashes (and don't include any quotes in the strings).
Tried it, and it didnt work :-(
I think i did it right, ill double check after dinner,
any one else had any luck with hacking the registry thing?
i spoke to soon, well sort of
Doesnt work with windows media player 10
but does work with TCPMP :-D
which is the better of the players anyhow :-D
So result :-D
hoping for success

i have portrait and landscape in both 192 and 96 (4 files)
do i edit all 4 files? could i get something to copy and paste?
using wmp10. not too comfortable with reg edit. can try but any thing i need to know?
thanks for directions, hopefully i'll be ok
i only eidted the 96 ones
i wasnt to comfortable with regedit, but i used a program that allowed me to edit it on the pc, to make it easier.
i wrote a very bad guide how i got it working with tcpmp ( a better player than wm10)
http://www.corecodec.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=29&expv=0&topic=2840.0
if it helps
but it didnt work with wm10 with me once i done this tho :-(
good luck

I really don't know if it's possible on the Blue Angel... More recent devices already have some kind of headset/voice command support, only using a different program, so you just have to make it use MS Voice Command instead. But the with the BA, you'd have to implement it from scratch.
Still... it would be excellent if someone could get it to work.

1. Where did you put your ringtone?
2. did you make any tweak to the ringtone path?
3. Which rom are you using?
4. did you try the "1d" ?
Strange... I have used a lot of the G4 ROMS here and I haven't had that problem. Make sure that you saved your ringtones in the correct folder, and everything should be fine from there...
I had the problem when installing an audio player and assigned the mp3s to this player.
Try to let windows handle the mp3 files and uncheck the file association in the player preferences. Then windows can play mp3s again...
I put the ringtone in the rings folder in the Windows directory, and which tweak are you talking about? Can you explain the tweak please maybe this will solve the problem
thanks
I have the same problem, with 6.0, I was able to use any mp3 ring on the phone. Now with 6.1 they don't work.
I moved the ring back and forth from the My ringtone folder, and the windows folder. I can use Audio Mgr to set the custom ring to the phone, and it works until I open the phone menu/options, it reverts back to the pre-loaded ring. The custom ring doesn't show up in the options list, but is still in the Windows folder, or My Ringtone folder.
There's another thread in the forum. WM 6.1 has a size limitation for mp3 rings, you have to cut them down to around 8secs of play
I pasted the link for the cab file for the trimmer app. Works fine on my Tilt
