O2 XDA SD Card Problem

I just bought a 256 MB Hama SD card. I can neither format that card through the XDA nor by windows and my Card Reader. The XDA says something like "unknown SD Card please specify name of card driver" Can anyone help? I read on the forum that the StorageTool could help so I installed it but all it says is "no volume". Should I return the SD card to Amazon?
Make sure the write-protect tab is not set to "Lock" (it should be slid toward the contacts). I read on Amazon that some people have had trouble with the tab sliding to "Lock" too easily when inserting the card.
Otherwise I'd say you need to return the card. Either the XDA or Windows should be able to format the card.

XDA 1

Hi. I have just bought an mmc card for my nokia 6230. I tried it and it worked perfectly then i tried it in my XDA and it will not work. Does the XDA 1 support mmc? If so could anyone please tell me how i can set up my XDA to use my 256mb mmc card
cheers
Biggy
Hi Biggy,
The XDA 1 supports MMC and SD cards, but I'm not sure if it supports the high-speed variants such as the 'Ultra' products.
Is your MMC card of a high speed variety?
Codenix.
seem to recall the org mmc std max was 128MB or something
so if the 256MB card is the new and faster mmc then i dont know if it's supported
Hi, i think it might not be working because the card is not formatted. Does anyone know how to format the card. I have not got a seperate card reader.
thanks
Akif
you could use storagetools or pocketmechanics to format if in the pda if it works
I also think its because you put the card in the nokia first then the nokia formatted it for itsself? You can use RESCO file explorer to format a card.
I'm not using MMC card, but i have a high-speed (66X) 1GB Ridata SD card and it works fine in m XDA I.
Hope this helps
I have downloaded resco but cannot see the card when i go to "my device", It is like the card does not exist.
when i click on "memory" in "settings" and then click on "storage card" a message is there displaying "Total storage card not installed"
Any ideas
soz dunno then man... maybe try formatting the card using a card-reader on your pc? gd luck!

He has mentioned in the beginning, that he hasn´t got a seperate card reader. But normally the device is trying itself to format the card. If i insert a sd-card with wron format, i got an popup that asks me, if i want to format the card.
So i would say it´s like Codenix told, that this card woulödn´t work in the XDA....

Biggy, do you know anyone else with either another PocketPC with an SD slot, or perhaps a digital camera with one? Many digital camers (I have a Canon) can format cards in FAT format too, so that might work.
Codenix.
I don't know whats wrong with it but previous owner said that they tried a 32mb, 256mb and 512mb card in there before and it worked perfectly. He also stated that card might require formatting but i cannot find an app that can recognise my mmc card. When i insert the card i do not get any sign indicating that the card is working or not working. Is this normal? or is it that the XDA1 does not support 256mb mmc card like some of you said earlier?
Please help - i have just bought tomtom 3 and want to install the maps on the mmc card

Biggy, I feel your pain mate; There's nothing worse than money spent on a cool tech item that doesn't work out
I suspect you may have an MMC which simply isn't compatible with the XDA. The XDA definitely supports MMC & SD cards up to and possibly over 1GB, however as I mentioned previously, many current-model cards are of the 'Ultra' variety, which are faster, but also draw more power. It is possible this particular card wants more juice than the trusty old XDA can supply.
I doubt your problem is format-related. As someone said earlier, the card should be detected anyway, and you should be offered the chance to format it - at least that's what is meant to happen.
Is you SD/MMC slot known to be working? Can you get your hands on another card to see if that works?
Worst-case, you should at least be able to try some different cards (I always use SD personally) at a retailer - find one who is agreeable to allowing you to try-before-you-buy, and you'll soon know if the XDA is at fault.
Codenix.
While on the subject, Twinmos mmc cards are also problematic with XDA.

[Q] Will the SIII support 64GB MicroSDXC exFAT or not?

During the launch presentation it was mentioned that the Galaxy S3 will support MicroSDXC cards with capacity up to 64GB and an exFAT file structure.
However, the manual released on Samsung's UK website states otherwise...
http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/model/GT-I9300ZKABTU-downloads?isManualDownload=true#
Code:
Your device accepts microSD™ or microSDHC™ memory
cards with maximum capacities of 32 GB (depending on the
memory card manufacturer and type).
Code:
Your device supports only the FAT file structure for
memory cards. If you insert a memory card formatted
with a different file structure, your device will ask you
to reformat the memory card.
The manual is from this month (05/2012), Rev. 01
I asked Samsung, but they weren't able to give me an answer.
So, what's the deal?
Nothing is the deal, MicroSDHC and MicroSD"XC" are compatible using the same controller, the only reason why it wouldn't work is if someone went "If >32GB return IMPOSSIBRU;"
We know the s2 deffo doesn't support 64gb but this guy tested it out and it worked..

These are two videos that show that it works..
Yes, yes it will on both counts.

Got confirmation from Samsung Mobile UK:
The device will support 64GB micro SD. Sorry for any confusion.

If you format the card in the phone, what format will it use? Presumably FAT32. If so, will it be better to format in your computer?
The 64GB cards come formatted exFAT, so no need to format a new card at all (otherwise in computer if the card is already used). Just confirmed I will be getting hands-on an S3 today, will by trying out my exFAT formatted 64GB card in it

Obviously I will!
Hopefully the guy is OK with me taking video and isn't under some oppressive NDA, if so will shoot a bunch of stuff including the card.
Hi everyone!
So, I did indeed have a couple of hours hands-on time with the S3 today, wanted to let everyone know that exFAT support is present and working, and 64GB cards work fine (if anyone still doubts that they work on all Androids with card slots).
Will have some more info up soon too
Hey guys,
I just got a Sandisk 64GB SDXC card. I popped it in my SGS3 but it tells me that the file system is not recognized.
Any ideas?
Thx

Thanks for the reply. I'm starting to think there is something wrong with my card. My SGS3 cannot mount it, then it asks to format it but that gives errors and ends up saying I can now safely remove it.
I have tried to format it on Windows 7, I can select exFat as the file system but it tells me the capacity is only 30.6 MB. Weird.
You might want to check you got what you thought you were buying, google for H2testw. Plenty of no-what-they-seem-to-be cards about.

Got one in my S3.
Works great .
You definitely need to format the card from the device (S3) before using it. Otherwise you won't see it at all or only half of it.

Question?
Hi guys, i have the 64gb SanDisk sd card... I had formatted it EXFAT using Windows 7. My phone (galaxy s4 gt-i9300) recognizes it, but i dont know what is wrong, cause I cant download files bigger than 4GB... And also my recovery recognizes it. I rooted my phone, but if I check the properties of the sd card on Windows it shows that it is on EXFAT? Should I use a different method to format it?
Thanks in advance
Sgs4 its not gt 9300.

Check your sd card for its stability in your pc either it needs a format or it is damaged
