Himalaya (Qtek) original splash images - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

Does someone, can provide me with the original splash images for Qtek 2020 (Himalaya)?
Or tell me where to find them, inside the device?
I want to backup the originals, before change them.
Also who can explain to me, the purpose of being to images in the CAB (Splash1.nb and Splash2.nb) if only one is displayed when the device restarts (or at least I've them both equal)?
Thanks

here we go ^_^..

The "KITCHEN" startup screen

Hi guys,
great work on the Kitchen.
Is there any way we can change the boot screen to perhaps say "Custom rom made in the kitchen by XXXXXx"
or is there any easy way to change the startup screen?
cheers
are u running ur own? if so, just place ur new _bootimage.bmp file in place of xda-developers one
Hi Kalex
thanks for your reply.
could you kindly tell me the path of this file so i my change it.
i cant seem to locate it on my xda.
I made the rom in Jeffs kitchen.
Kind regards.
Ali
its not on the xda. its in the rom when it gets created and it gets burned into memory location for it. problem is since u are running it off Jeff's kitchen, u going to have to ask him to insert the file (doubt he'll do it).
alex
i understand, thanks for your help
hello all,
I'm trying to make my own rom with the mkrom program and In didn´t find the Bmp you said.
how is it call??
and in what directory is it?? (files1,files2,cfg,...)
thanks
It's called 'bootimage.bmp' and it's in the cfg directory. Make sure it's a 240x320 bmp file saved with the properties 'Windows'. '16 bits', 'R5 G6 B5' and 'flip row order' (the above is using Photoshop).
If someone finds a Unix filter where I can specify these things, I guess I could make an upload button in the kitchen, but other things are higher on my list...
thanks XDA developer Peter Poelman for your fast answer,
I have another doubt: Do you know why I can´t open the bootimage.bmp file that comes with the ROM?
thanks again

"can't open" with what?
which "the ROM"?
sorry
the ROM is 3.16.16 in Spanish
and Icant open the bmp with photoshop,paint,....
It maybe that I use a different ROM??
thanks
Since this is not a mkrom package we distributed, I suggest Itsme would know more of how his software writes the boot image. It may also be possible that you still need to find the correct address of this image in ROM (it differs...) before the software writes it correctly.
well as you say that this ROM coud not work , I tried with a 3.19.01 GER
and it didn´t work neither.
I obtain the bootimage.bmp but I can´t open it with any design program.
The bootimage is about 150kb and I suppose that this file couldn´t have this size. I suppose that this file is incremented with something like "\0" or something like this.
any ideas??
thanks for your patience "XDA developer Peter Poelman"
I read somewhere else that the 4.00.11 ROM Image in Jeffs Kitchen does have the splash screen changed from Test Only Not For Sale to something else. Is this True. My version I am running dtill has the old Splash Image-Test... Were there any other changes to this ROM since then, like newer versions of programs that can be added in the kitchen when cooking your own ROM or anything else?
Thanks,

Yes, it's true , if you check : "in Add software and modify ROM , at "Today screen and appearance" , the box : "XDA-developers.com ROMkitchen boot image, you have that splash screen, instead of the annoying "test only...."
For ROM, choose : 4.00.11 ENG WM 2003, I did it, and I always have the "G" for GPRS :wink:

switching ROMs for dummies?

hello,
Would anybody be so kind to give a step by step manual of switching from t-mobile 1.60 to qtek 1.66 please?
please note: i have no idea what i need to do with those passwords, neither with what it says on this link:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/HimalayaRomFlashing
Much too complicated for me... :roll:
Isn't there a different way to upgrade to a different ROM?
thanks for your help.
John
Why would you want to do this? To get QTEK features instead of T-mobile? If so, there is a much easier way than flashing...
1. Unhide/Unlock your extended rom (see front page of site in top news article).
2. Remove all of the files from your extended ROM
3. Get a copy of the New Extended Rom files you want. This forum tells how to do that.
4. Copy them into the extended rom area of the device.
5. Hard Reset -- you are done.
You never touched the Radio Stack, the Main OS, and did not have to flash, which is much safer way of upgrading / changing.
Make sure you copied all of the files from the new EXT ROM, not just the CAB files (but you can delete the odd CAB file if you know which one and why you want to do it)

Cooking an ExtROM

Since getting my XDAII a few days ago, I've been impressed with the number of customisations possible, and have managed to acheive a number of different tasks, however, I have as yet to cook my own ExtROM for it.
This is something I would very much like to do, and I have acquired an ms_.nbf from the end of the line update that O2 provides from their website.
I have all the necessary tools to do it, and I know exactly how to, but I do not know which packages I need to keep in order to have a PDA with fully functioning bluetooth, blackberry and ad nauseum. alternately, as I'm sure that there is probably an ExtROM with all the bare essentials in it (and probably newer version essentials too) so if someone could point me to one, or the other I'd be very grateful, and whatever it is, I am definitely interested in dumping O2Active.
you dont need to mess with nbf files to cook an extented rom
you can just use the tool to unhide and unlock the extented rom from the xda and remove the cab files you dont want and
add the ones you want and change the config.txt file to include the new stuff and exclude the stuff you removed
then you just lock and hide the rom and hardreset
and the rest if history
I know, but someone else wants a custom ROM, and they're too far away for me to get hold of their PDA to do it that way.
all I need to know now is what .CAB files I need to include to have everything functioning, then I'll bung on extras
I guess this is a trial and error jobby then.
now something I've wondered that should be simple to answer;
when flashing on an ExtROM, is it possible to flash ONLY the ExtROM, or is it mandatory to flash the OS and radio as well, on pain of trashing the PDA and reducing it to only the bootloader.
well, through trial and error I've got it all sorted, thanks to everyone for their help... oh, wait, I didn't get any help, but many thanks to Rudegar.
Sure, you don't owe me anything, but if a forum's been setup for the purpose of giving help, it sure would have been nice to have received some rather than just getting ignored because I haven't made enough posts yet to join whatever religious PDA sect you happen to run exclusively to help eachother.
rant over, I've made my point, perhaps something positive can come of it?
Just yesterday I created my first "EXTENDED ROM" and installed it by myself for my friends XDA II, all you need is EDIT2003 program thats on the wiki somewhere. Then you can open the ms_.nbf, and edit the splash images and the files it will install on the hard reset, then just install it to the phone using the rom upgrade procedure but put the extended rom in and delete the nk.nbf and the radio_.nbf tah dah!

Animated StartUp screens possible for Prophet?

I found some possible ways to get a animated startup screen on Artemis, Hermes, Trinity and Elf, but what is with them for our Prophet?
Can anybody get them working? I tried some but without success!
Try these links for more information:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=321638
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=321503
yes it is possible, but I didn't worked it out fully.
it worked when I flashed prophet with a cooked rom that used initial leaked dump(sys and oem) of Touch.
device booted till startup animation and stops at welcomehead.
It prove that its possible on prophet also. However floating cab/oem-packs never worked.
evo 8 has a start up animation
it works , but I don't use it because it just make the reboot takes longer.
hma4 > Where is the OEM Pack how is working you use ?
Good night
Yeah, i want the OEM-/SYS-Package for this, too!
yeah
i'm interested too!!! can someone upload some progz or animations or an how-to make it? Thank you
KEN
I will try to include that functionnality to my BootScreen changer tool (see my signature).
An update is coming within 2 days max.
I would like to have that "shiny" on my phone aswell
I'm sure the hardcore rom cooks don't use it... but it would be a nice addition...
see if you tell us how to do it hma4 or gullum, then the people have to wait extra seconds on boot time but add some "shiny stuff" to their PDA phones.
I've extracted the needed files and one registry path (with some sub-entries) and integrated them into my german Prophet Touch IX, flashed it and nothing apeared!
It seems that there must be more than I've found!
i know i'm not a genious in this stuff, but isn't there like a DLL needed to actually get those animations going... isn't there a little secret file you need to get it going...
i cant find out how to make it work... can someone tell me how to do such thing? thank you so much
man I would love to have an animated today screen... that would be awesome.
Hey,
Yes, you can have an animated Today screen for your PPC. There's one by Gigabyte and it's really awesome! Search for it and I'm sure that you'll find it.
kiwi992.
We're searching for a possible way to integrate an animated bootscreen and not an animated today screen!
EVO8EN has it... so i'd guess rip it out of that rom or just plainly ask the cook...
any update on this?
ok i seem to have found all the files... you need a couple more files than only the one file in the cab...
so it seems...
StartupAnimationEngine.dll (the engine to have the startup animation)
(i'm figuring out if this DLL needs to be added to the drivers list inside the registry)
PLAYSND.dll (seems to have a function to add startup sounds)
Htc_Lib.dll (used instead or aside of HTCUtil.dll i'm not sure...)
added this one to registry at drivers... it doesn't hurt my prophet... so i'm leaving it there...
Engine.Dll (i do not have the foggiest idea what the **** this file is for...)
these files are pointed out in some artemis startup animation thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311357&page=13&p=1317509
the registry keys to activate it should be:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\StartupAnimation]
"GIFFile"="\\windows\\animated.gif"
"Enabled"=dword:00000001
"WAVFile"="\\windows\\startup.wav"
"Volumn"=dword:0x50
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\StartupAnimation]
"GIFFile"="\\windows\\animated.gif"
"Enabled"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\HtcInit]
"Prefix"="HTC"
"Dll"="Htc_Lib.dll"
"Order"=dword:0
!!! verry important.... !!! i've added a HTCinit2 key so i didn't DELETE the HTCUtil.dll driver initialisation... just because i'm scared i'll f**kup my prophet...
use these settings and files at own risk...!!
(nothing happened when i used these files but you never know...)
HUZAAAH it works now...
f**k me!!! it works...!!! just edited registry... with the setting i really didn't want (the scared to make my prophet fubar part...)
it was the files i mentioned... it was the registry i mentioned...
so:
these files should be in your windows directory (on your pda that is... )
StartupAnimationEngine.dll
PLAYSND.dll
Htc_Lib.dll
HTCUtil.dll
Engine.Dll
regedit these settings:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\StartupAnimation]
"GIFFile"="\\windows\\animated.gif"
"Enabled"=dword:00000001
"WAVFile"="\\windows\\startup.wav"
"Volumn"=dword:0x50
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\StartupAnimation]
"GIFFile"="\\windows\\animated.gif"
"Enabled"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\HtcInit]
"Prefix"="HTC"
"Dll"="Htc_Lib.dll"
"Order"=dword:0
however i did make another regedit but i don't know weither it's needed or not...
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\StartupAnimationEngine]
"Dll"="StartupAnimationEngine.dll"
in any way these are my settings and they work...
FOUND A PROBLEM!! if you have a WAV file to play at startup my sounds stop working... no rings, no mp3, nothing!!

make your own Prophet Touch Kitchen

Simple steps on howto
1. download the kitchen Download
2. download Prophet Touch X rom Get it here
3. extract Kitchen and Prophet Touch X to separate folder
4. Place the OS.nb from Prophet Touch X in the rom folder of the Kitchen
5. run Buildos.exe and choose what to include (the marked apps are the once that are in Prophet Touch X) press the green play button and wait for it to finish
6. run CreateROM.bat (if there is any error the you have included to much in the Buldos prosess)
7. if there were no error the new OS.nb is in the temp folder move it to the Prophet Touch X folder and overwrite the os.nb in it
8. flash any step 1 WM5
9. now Flash your new rom within Prophet Touch X folder
if everything is done right you should have your new coocked rom on your Prophet
I have put all the things that should not be removed into the SYS folder so do only make changes to the OEM folder till you know more about cooking .
replace the HTC Audio Manager with this one
View attachment OEMAudioManager.zip
New HTC Album with folder option
View attachment HTCAlbumFolderOption.zip
Extras and links
I'll upload some addons for the kitchen later on as I've made more OEM packs
You can also search for oempacks to include but be aware that some OEM packs are device depented
Some cool tools that I use but have not included in kitchen You'll need to understand what they do before using them
HyperCore Kitchen cool for dumping roms and building ( I use it for dumping)
this is great.. awesome.
Great job Gullum. Now guys, we all should start frying Hokienmee or Char Kueh Teow (both chinese cuisine)

hold the mouse over one of the options and there should show and explaination for most of the items
good news
i'll try it
for every change in X and flashing it, is it always necessary to do step 1 again (wm5 flashing) ?
When I do hard reset and at the "tap screen to go on" point, I could start flashing X too ?
What I mean, is the complete rom exchanged when I flash X, or do some parts from wm5 or old X (IX, VIII ....) remain ?
I've try to cook today.. BUt seems something is going wrong...
Better I flashed it back to the original touch X ROM...
I also had some bad luck with cooking.
I did everything gullum said, flashed 'new' TouchX, did hard reset and then when its time to see welcome screen and 'press any key.....' there is blank white screen! Nothing happens no matter which button i press! Any ideas?

I did the same think.
At my case, i have enter today screen.. But I think, its programs don't install clearly.. (hard reset don't help either.)
The first screen is the same one as you.. The white one.. Maybe you should to try ask Gullum again..
I just flash back to Touch IX with another Ext ROM. QuickMenu in that ext.ROM
thanks gullum
I would like to translate this rom to Portuguese can you give some advices? our some tutorial to do that, please? can i do that with this soft?
best regards
thanks (for this perfect kitchen) gullum ,some 3 questions i have :
1.>how to get oem or make one ,and
2.>how to get .dsm , .rgu files of my favorite software . and
3.>how do i make registry changes prior to build os are they automatic
Note :ext_rom files attributes should be read only since its like that in original rom so i made them read only(i think its healthy for system files any virus won't be able to modify it unless the file needs to be appendable updateable it should be read only),plus i deleted alot of thumbs.db files lying in many folders (about >2mb) just to clean oem folder files off thumbs.db i know winxp might be making them all the way .
i corrected audio manger with this kitchen (its gr8),i can't seem to solve camera album (have solved solution given below )problem ,it seems to have come back you know i can't use gestures , what to do ,any reg setting solution.
Edit : **corrected** the setting in reg hklm\software\htc\htcalbum\cacheserial to 2130706432
and hklm\software\htc\htcalbum\default_viewer to 0
if it still don't get solved set first 11 enteries (h_enable to v_pos) value to 0 in
hklm\software\htc\htcalbum\touchscroll\htcalbumclass
i'll try to provide a cab but this forum has alot of intelligent members
BuildImgfs
whatever I include in the buildos I am facing the same error when I try to create rom; something about BuildImgfs
any help guys!!

2 reasons 1.> i hope you are pressing play(top left in build OS)button after whatever you choose,with what ever you want in it.
2.>your file size has to be limited its almost full with this kitchen so you have to remove some item like voice dialing (which i seldom use) or some other item removed before you add some item since size dependency is very important here ,and later run create rom .remember you cannot select everything because of space limitation .
Hello Gullum
I'm trying to do very basic thing adding Windows Live package into the OS.nb but it fails during CreatROM.bat. At BuildImgfs.exe the application BuildImgfs.exe crashes and show the error message and whether to send a report to MS or not (I don't send...).
I just directly add Windows Live to your OS.nb. Is it already fully loaded? Should I remove something before?
question with task manager
something is wrong with task manager.
in control panel ,its setting doesn't work!
Same problem.
Whatever i select in buildOS, BuildImgfs crashes.
Last records is CreateROM.bat window is:
Processing "Painting.gif" as file
Processing "S5K3BAFX.dll" as file
Processing "3aca900a-0834-11dc-8314-0800200c9a66.dsm" as file
Processing "c7dbe475-1d17-4fbf-a63e-af6dc042569a.rgu" as file
Processing "c7dbe475-1d17-4fbf-a63e-af6dc042569a.dsm" as file
Processing "-жE+-A+?.txt" as file
I think reason in strange file name -жE+-A+?.txt.
BINGO!!!
I Found this file in Prophet Touch kitchen.
\\OEM\Quickmenu\-жE+-A+?.txt
Just delete it before kitching.
