WM2005 Working SMARTPHONE programs list - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

since there is a thread for 'WM2005 (Full Version) Working program list (Updated)', I thought why not try some SmartPhone apps on Magneto..
So far the only post i saw was for the WiFi drivers for SmartPhone..
Anybody?

there is at least one additional smartphone application working under buzzmobile5.0:
opera 7.60b3 runs perfectly (with no touchscreen support, but this is ok for a smartphone application)
peter

my bet is that no smartphone application nativly support the touchscreen
making them useless for me at least

PPC2002 software compatibility with PPC2003/ XDA Dev 1.2

Hi there again,
I've been doing a lot of reading and searching through the forum and I now understand a lot more about my XDA - luvverly...
But I have a couple of questions - I have looked I promise but I can't find anything.. If I've missed something please forgive me !
This is all based on the fact that I still haven't upgraded the ROM to 1.1 or PPC 2003 (I'm kind of waiting for 1.2! - looks exciting!).. Yes I know I should, but are these problems common to standard PPC 2002 and will get fixed or are there other answers ?
1) Is PPC 2002 software that I install compatible with PPC 2003 ? I've got a shedload of freeware that states PPC 2002 only - is it a case of it's just untested ?
2) Program stopping - this is a major pain, when I cradle the unit and ActiveSync kicks in, it errors with "unresolved" if I have programs running.. so I have to go into memory etc and stop everything before I cradle it... I'm still not sure I understand the concept of keeping the progs open when I've exited them - can anyone help me here ? Is it like having a service in NT ?
Sorry for all of the questions, I know I should upgrade, but I like to understand why I'm upgrading first, so I'd really appreciate any help you can give.
Oh and my number port still hasn't happened..............
Well don't all rush at once
I've sorted the brightness thing - it's to do with the background picture still being selected when I added a new theme... fairly basic stuff I realise..!
For Q1)
Most PPC2003 APP compatible with PPC2002, however some of them will cause fatal error on the machine -- Such as BatteryPack 2003 5.05 (or any version earlier). The machine will never bootup after installed the 5.05 version, except a hard-reset.
Another other example that didn't work with PPC2003 is Call2Pic, but we can use PhoneExt 1.2, which is a freeware and more powerful (if only for ringtone). XDA Phone skin chooser, Double Launcher, VITO Voice Dialer PE 2.5 work too.
By the way, all games I tried are compatible with PPC2003. Almost all media player work perfectly with PPC 2003 too, except PocketMVP.
I think it is a very good percentage of compatible software for a new OS update.
Lotus EasySync Pro doesn't work.
Just a note to add to the list. EasySync Pro does NOT work under 2003. It's what forced me back to XDADev 1.1 since I have to be able to Sync with my Lotus Notes system at work.

excellent news - thanks chaps !!
I'm clearly in the presence of people that are far more knowledgable than I, and although I wouldn't claim to be a developer I do know my way round a unix box and also work with high-end music apps (unique wav files anyone?) so I'll be glad to offer any assistance I can, whilst learning the more intricate aspects of this wonderful machine...
cheers again...
Novosec Pocket Facelift works but has problems witht he skinned taskbar. sux cuz its a nice taskbar. other than that its fine.

Update 1.01
@zorgan
I wonder, how you want to release it for Android, if there is root needed for enabling WiFi ad-hoc mode? Will it be for rooters only?
@Brut.all
I know the "issue 82" on Android. First i release for root users and if google decide to correct this issue it will be available for all on Android.
I work on the same time on BB and Nokia device and it works fine
been looking for something like this..will try it out on a HTC Jade and see...my main use is to be able to transfer files from one device to another...

Video Chat Application!

Hi All Genius Developpers!
As You Already Know I Suppose, Fring Announced Video Chat System for Nokia Device and i-Phone, i-Pod at the End of Last Year.
But It's Shame They Havn't Supported Windows Mobile Yet.
Our HERMES Has Great Advantage that Has both Front and Rear Camera, so Should Be BEST Device for This Sort of Application, isn't it!?
Moreover Our Front Camera is Absolutely of No Use unless We Use Video Call that Costs Enormous!
That's Why I Pose this Thread and Question as Follows.
Could Someone Adapt Fring Application for Our HERMES and Make cab File for Us?
And I Have Another Question that is:
Microsoft Also Released Experimental Beta ver. video Communication Application "Portrait" for Windows Mobile several years ago for Free.
Though it was Such Attractive System, They Stopped Publishing this Application completely and There is No Link for Download Anywhere Now.
What A Shame!
Could Someone who happened luckily to Get it before Upload Here as cab File of it?
I Hope This Thread Pose Question and Forum "Let's Think Best Way, Take Advantage and Make Most of Our HERMES that Has Two Cameras!"
A Lot of Thanks in Advance.

[Q] Upgrading from HTC TP2- Remote Desktop/PIM Backup/HD Station/AntiVirus ?'s

Hey XDA -
So this will be my first upgrade from using Sprint's HTC TP2 for the past year - it was a great phone and will continue to use it as a wifi router thanks to the nice ROM makers over at PPCgeeks. I am going to miss the stylus
Now my questions :
1. I've never used an android OS - is there a recommended "finger-friendly" Remote Desktop Application that will allow me to access my home pc laptop (windows xp pro)? - I am trying to launch a review course software from my mobile phone that requires Java Runtime Environment for Windows (which is installed on my laptop).
I'm a medical student trying to use my paid subscription to usmleworld.com board review questions. It's such a hassle to be always tied down to a laptop. So I am hoping I will be able to have better results on a faster phone and larger display as compared to my HTC-TP2 which was really choppy when trying to remote-desktop.
2. My contacts on my TP2 is via Windows Mobile 6.5OS and saved through "PIM Backup" - Is there a way I can transfer my contacts from this application to the Android OS?
3. I don't have an HDMI TV or HDMI ready Monitor. I have an external LCD VGA monitor. Was there anything I could connect to that with that so that I can get the HD Station to work?
* At this point, I am not sure if I am going to unlock/root anything as this is my first time using the OS. It took me many months to actually flash my TP2 and try a few ROMs but I love the features - mainly the wifi router options.
4. I've heard stories of android malware being pumped out - How can I prevent any malicious software from being installed on this phone? Is there an official market website apart from accessing the phone itself? Do you use antivirus/malware software for this device?

[Q] Desktop Software for Phone management with SMS communicator?

Hi guys
I'm not 100% sure if this is the right forum area, please pardon me if it isn't.
I'm coming from Symbian OS (Nokia) and using their NOKIA OVI SUITE/PC SUITE for YEARS and it's been terrific. obviously this is the end of the road for it since Nokia/MS is not giving their desktop software much attention.. now i've migrated to Android and I needed an alternative to Nokia PC Suite..
Yes i've googled and searched and found a lot of so called alternatives. but i wanted to save time instead of installing all these options and testing em for myself.. (and i have tested a few already)
What I need is something like Nokia PC Suite w/c are:
1) very good at phonebook and SMS management (Sedning/receiving)
2) can connect both via USB or WIRELESS (bluetooth preferred)
3) Has a real DESKTOP software, not limited due to being browser based (like a lot of the options out there)
4) NOT CLOUD-DEPENDENT .. offline capable
A lot of options i've tried such as AirDroid falls short of at least 1 of the above requirements ..the only Software i tried that came pretty close to what i really want is MoboRobo .. but it has some short comings like unable to send multi-part sms (the software splits it up) and it needs to scan QR everytime i want to connect wirelessly (not automatic/remembering the last connection)
So i'm continuing the hunt and hopefully some of ya'll more experienced android users can shorten the journey for me.
Thanks everyone..
hmm i guess im stuck w/ moborobo
