would anyone help me or give me a tutorial on how to make a cab file. i know the setting for gprs (WAP) just i don't feel like to keep setting it back everytime it reset. basiclly i want to do like the xdajojo but for cingular (USA) and i can include or replace the philiphines carrier cab files. please guys. help me. i'm new at this. thanks (ups i accidently make a new Topic. i'm sorry)

i got a xda2 & a mda2. both with the t-mobile 1.6 rom version.
now i want to edit the extended rom file:
<<<TMDDECustomize.sa.CAB>>>
I want to change the both splash screens (the 2 files with -splash- inside the name) and the setting for my gprs properties. the gprs setting must inside of this cab, because i cooked my own rom without this cab, and the settings aren´t on my xda after hardreset). i have vodafone german.
Two Questions:
Where are the gprs settings in the cab file. Can you tell me the filename and how i can edit this settings?
With which tool, i can make a new cab file, which i can put in my ext. rom. with every zipper that support CAB i´ve made it. But every time the xda says, this is not a windows ce file.

Hi, I also need to cab file to make my camera work on my 02 XDAII. I copied the cab file that was posted to my storage card and executed it. It said it copied the information correctly but I don't see an icon for the program. Do I need to do anything else after running the cab file?

If cab file was installed corectly, it doesn't need to do anymore.
If you doesn't found CAMERA icon in Program, you may try install again.
By the way, Camera program is always put in Ext ROM.
if you flash your ROM with official ROM, no need to do anymore.
But if you flash with your custom ROM, you need to make sure that in your Ext ROM include camera-cab file.
you can use extended ROM viewer or extended ROM unlocker to view your Ext ROM.
Thank you very much! I installed the Ext. ROM viewer and saw the camera cab file in there. When I executed the camera cab file, the camera icon reappeared in the programs directory. Thanks again!

got the new V1605 very nice unit.
I've got a problem that I'm trying to resolve but it sime that I've hit a brick wall.
I'm looking for the cab file but must be signed to disable the security so I can install software without any warning.
I've tryed already 3 cab file but everytime I launch the cab it tell me that it is not signed so I have to tap on yes.
This is no good for me because I need to put this in the Extended Rom and so I can install any software but because it is telling me that it is not digitally signed it does not install.
Has anybody have any idea how I can resolve this problem.

Hello every1,
I need some help in disabling the security on the V1605.
I've made a cab file to modify the registry but when I put it in the extended rom.
When I H/R the PDA you see that the cab file is called and then it quickly goes to the next cab.
When I check the registry it has not been modifyed so I try executing the cab file manually what happen I get the security warning, I've try another cab file which are suppose to have the security in the cab file but still I get the security warning.
What I would like to do if anybody knows how it can be done is to create some kind of file that will not get the security to come up so it wll modify the registry so I can modify the Extended rom with my own software.
I've noticed that the config.txt in the extended rom has a command
Show:\windows\vodafone.bmp
Can I create an exe file that can modify the extended rom or make a backup of the registry that I modify and give it a command like copy this file to windows.
Please any programmes out they are they eble to help me please.

I merged the two threads because you're asking the same. If you get no answer it is better to bump the thread by adding a new comment than to start a new one.
Back to your question, it is not possible to do what you want because the cab file that disables security must be signed with a key we don't have. Maybe someone might come up with a solution, but AFAIK it is not possible now (the signed cabs from Universal for this purpose do not work on the Hermes).

Get a copy of wince cab manager and make your own cab. after installing start with an existing cab, double click it, remove the existing files, drag and drop the files you want in the files dir, and save. For registry go to file>>import>>from reg, choose the value (*.reg ) and click. Save the cab and there you are

Hey guys, would greatly appreciate the help with installing swype.
My first concern is what i've been seeing with users being locked out of their phone due to incorrect passwords after installing swype. Does anyone have the cab for a version of swype that DEFinitely does not do this?
And onto my biggest problem:
When i copy the cab onto my external memory and run the "_SETUP" file on my STOCK FILE EXPLORER it just opens the file as if it was a link on a website.
Do i need to download a new file explorer? or can i just use the one that came with the phone.
I cant seem to find a Do it yourself tutorial anywhere online please help!!
I have a hd2 from hong kong.
basically, stay away from swype 3.9 from the tmous. it checks your model and if it isn't a tmous it messes with the password.
as to the _setup issue, it sounds like you have unpacked the .cab
the pc will see a cab and think it is a type of zip, with (usually) 4 files inside, and try to unpack it if you double click it. instead, you should move the whole filename.cab as a single file to the phone and run it from there.
