XDA phone problem - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

Hello
Last night I tried to configure my phone settings..
But my problem now is that my phone dosnt function anymore.
It says it has "no service"
does anybody know how to solve this problem?
thanks in advance...
gidstar

My phone dont'n work & I don't see a Radio version
I can't help you, sorry, only to cry with you: HELP
I need help too, I speak just a little English and German, I live in Germany.
My XDA can't show the Telephone and it has no comunication/radio/radio version. Moreover, before this (it cames from yesterday) I had a lot of problems with the energy and all days the XDA had lost the configuration; xda uk in place xda de. Why?? So I restarted with this option to starten/charge this elected configuration, and so it asked me my PIN, another time restarted and so the green light was activate, but some hours later, with or without electric.
So, iniatilly energy/charge problems and some times with the Telephone and configuration, now no telephone, not radio version... I think today my XDA could exploted!
Another question, my mother lenguages are Spanish and Valencian/Catalan, and when it was possible I wanted to change my lenguage to spanish and to get a modern rom version (actuell 3.14.16 GER, from 10/11/02).
Thanks.

Gidstar, have you been messing with the bandswitch tool, if you have changed the band to 900/1900 and you use an 1800 network you will get no service, you need to change it back to 900/1800 if that is the case.

Phone not available after HardReset

Hi,
I have switched aa sim in my XDA, worked with it for a day and then hardreseted the device. Since then, the phone doesn't work! It seems there is no reception (an exclemation mark near the antana icon) and the SIM manager does not load as well.
I'm with WM2003 4.00.01, Radio 4.21.00.
Did anyone ever experianced something like that?

Stefan
My SIM card have no PIN number, and in any way where can I inout it?
The phone app just pops up empty, buty I can't make any calls - it seems it's only trying to dial (cought up in "Dailing...").
It's really kind of starnge - as if it does not recognize my SIM.

Feedback for the new O2 UK 1.72 ROM Upgrade.

I have created this topic to try and get all feedback specific to this upgrade into one place.
So if you have comments, issues, problems, opinions or just plain questions about this upgrade, post them here.
great job dcs.
let me be the first to post and it's regarding Incoming MSG.
When i first got my unit from Philippines, it was loaded with 1.66WWE and with this version i was able to select preloaded or customized WAV as incoming SMS tone. But it went missing when i upgraded to Waxx's 1.72 and even now to the latest o2 UK 1.72. Anyone else experiencing this?

I have read the o2 blurb, but can other o2 uk user tell me, what do I really get from this upgrade that makes it worth all the hassle of resetting my device and re-installing all of the hardware please?
Many Thanks

Personally, I find the performance to be improved and also stability. Also, when a call comes in, the Answer button on the dialog works, which didn't before. As part of the extended ROM, O2 have provided improved video streaming over GPRS plus video for MMS (I haven't used either yet). The OS itself has the Microsoft user update 2 included. Of course, the 181 release also has Blackberry included.

OK. Strange, but at least you are sorted
Edit: Maybe it is something in O2 Active that causes the problem? I have uninstalled it, so perhaps I am unaffected. Could other people with O2 Active still installed throw light on this?

Hi, I have installed the new rom (1.72.187). Everything is ok but Messenger. I can surf web sites using gprs and wifi but i cant connect msn. I always get the same error. "Logon to MSN Messenger failed because the service temporarily unavailable." But i can connect with my laptop. Any idea? thanks....
dcs,
have you tried Battery Pack Pro v1.1.10 on this? The last time i used this with 1.66WWE, i keep getting total blackout on my XDA2 with Bluetooth light steady blue and i hard to perform hard-reset. since then i was afraid to try again.

Have you applied the latest patch from Microsoft? Take a look here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/downloads/msnmessenger/pocketpc.mspx
It does state that you cannot access the service unless it is applied. Quote: "Customers without the updated software will not have access to the Service until the download has been completed."

I also have identical experience using the Battery Pack Pro v1.1.10 on 1.60 WWE. Being scared to have a try on 1.72. Should anyone pioneer on this, please also let me know. Thanks
Blackberry?
I'm trying to understand what the benefits of having Blackberry are. The Blackberry website says you get all the stuff which I'm sure I already have with my XDA. Things like e-mail and IE. Except for my e-mail which is blocked by my ISP, Plus.net (I can only view/download e-mails, not send new ones).
What's the big improvement I'm supposed to get with Blackberry? :?

I am running v1.1.1 with no problems on the v1.72 Rom. Worked fine with 1.60 also but no experience of v1.66.
have already installed New ROM 1.72.187
in this ROM, i think it work faster than 1.60 but liked other 1.72 ROM from T-mobile.
In the Ext ROM ,it doesn't include some software such as GPRS monitor.
Now ,I desired to cook it.
More stable without question. Only thing that I have found is that the O2 logo can't be moved. Dam thing stuck in middle of title bar. BT Tools works ok. Better wapsupport for o2 active, though XDA seems to forget it's connected and will drop connection and reconnect when conecting to O2's wap service.
Still it's a worthwile update.
I am having problems with Fonix voice dial. When I adda voice tag I get an error that it cannot update, hard or soft reset doesnt help. Also if I restore my backup using the built in backup program I find that streaming video and blackberry programs both vanish from my xda 2.
Feed back
looking good so far. I have added all my apps including BPP 1.1.1 and everything works fine.
SRS now works as well whereas before it trashed my xda II
I am from Asia but installed this UK o2 ROM and found its totally working good.
However, one thing is the autoconfig function has gone.
Anyone knows how to get this from the previous AISA rom?
Blackberry Config
Anyone been successful with this yet?
Ive activated the install and the BB client tries to connect somewhere over GPRS, but eventually suspends itself.
Ive got access to our Corporate BES so should be able to get it working. However, there seems to be some mention in the ROM upgrade guide about a desktop client manager (needed on PC to download the policy).
Ive seen posts that say O2 is not making it availble until Jan 05 - anyone confirm?
Oh, and Im actually using Vodafone

Blackberry & 2003SE

I'm using an Imate & Vodafone SIM, and when o2 released their new update which included Blackberry support I upgraded my device. Everything worked perfectly, I travelled to the Far East and Blackberry functioned correctly.
When I returned I decided to upgrade to 2003SE V2.06 and installed Blackberry, it didn't work. I then downgraded to 2003SE V2.02 and installed Blackberry, still not working.
So today I reverted back to the o2 V1.72 update, still not working, and the Blackberry Server is showing 'Illegal PIN Number'.
This is just a warning that the SE update may screw Blackberry up, or o2 & RIM have noticed that everyone is using their software and started to block non o2 devices that are running the software.
Hi,
Same message on my BES: 'Illegal PIN Number' and BBY not working. But I have it till the first time trying to connect, one month ago..
The client connects, gets an IP address and disconnects displaying the 'not connected' icon. However, the client receives Policy and Services from Server.
I still haven't found a solution... Any help welcome.
Serge
Eaxactly the same as I'm getting, I'm going to try the suggestion about removing the user from the BES, deleting settings on the XDA & Docuements & Settings and see if this works.
My initial thought was that the PIN number had changed but that does not seem to be the case.

t-mobile
Strangely enough same problem happened to me today. I called t-mobile they reproivisioned ... n othing etc. All of a sudden this afternoon it's working again?
I've tried everything, and still no joy, I emailed RIM and they just referred me to Vodafone, carefully ignoring the question about 'Illegal handheld PIN'.
Just out of interest, what is the PIN number of your devices, my only thought now is that we all have the same PIN, mine is 613F1E63. If this is the case then the upgrade has screwed our device ID's.
If not then there's a way of identifing the network from the PIN, and a block has been put on none o2 devices.
I've had a thought, what versions of BES are people running, we're runing V3.6 Sp2, the latest is 3.6 sp4 so I'm wondering if there maybe something in sp3 or 4 that fixes the Illegal Handheld PIN problem?
Is it possible to confirm BES versions an if the Blackberry client is working.
Sorry, I'll be at office only next week.
I'll then tell you my BES version. I think this is a good idea.
Serge
HI there.
I've been having the same problem, with the Australian Telstra network- I get the "illegal pin" response from the sever, even though the XDA connects OK (the server notes that it is is contact with the XDA)
Has anyone found a fix? Not sure if the culprit is Telstra blocking PIN's that are generated by devices that are not supported, such as the XDAII

Actually, all blocking happens at the master RIM relay in Canada. RIM regularly sweep their system for 'illegal' devices and software versions. So hacking the software out of 1.72.181 and putting it into a dodgy 2.02 build qualifies as 'illegal'. BAM - your PIN is blocked by RIM.
Changing your software afterwards back to 1.72.181 wont work, because the PIN is still blocked. You then need to call your mobile provider and beg them to get it unblocked.
:?
Thanks for that.
My original ROM was 1.66- are you saying that I have to go back to this version and then install the BB app, and then beg the mobile provider? If they re-set the PIN, will that get caught up in a sweep?
Cheers

Interesting. Sorry for all of the questions. Will removing and re-adding the user from the BES once 1.72 is installed suffice, or does it have to be re-set by the carrier?
Thanks again
Thanks for the advice- am up and running now.
Sync with the server is a bit dodgy, but have 1.72 installed and BB up and running- thanks for the help.

My XDA 1 phone has stopped working - no signal

My XDA 1 phone has stopped working - no signal - can't phone - or internet or anything. It still connects to the emergency police number though - everything else works fine on the XDA. (It has ppc mobile 2002 on it.) Any ideas how to fix it?
Does this sometimes happen?
Is it the end of my device?
I have used the SIM card from my "non-working" xda1 in another phone and it works. I have used a SIM card from another phone which I know works, in my ."non-working" xda1 and it won't work .
I have set my xda1 to manual configeration, and it finds networks, it says available networks: KPN and Libertel, (I am in Holland). So I guess there must be a signal to and from my xda1. (Is that right?)
It doesn't give "telfort" as an available network. which is my simcard network. The xda1 says it is o2 uk all the time. Is it possible it still thinks I'm in the Uk and doesn't switch over to Dutch networks?
I'm in over my head with this...what should I do?.
I live in Holland - it worked fine. I took it to England - it worked fine - it switched over to the English phone networks etc. I bought it back to Holland and it stopped working!
I have just had a message on my xda1 saying: "unable to read settings from the net work."
The little mushroom icon at the top of screen never changes. There is no activity there.. . which I guess means there is no signal.
Does this mean the phone part of my xda1 is broken? If so, can it be mended?
a lot of questions I know!
Go to settings/phone and choose "network", when your required network shows choose it. It should do this automatically if "auto" is chosen.
I have the same Problem with my XDA1 and auto/manual configuration does not solve the problem. My SIM Card works with other mobil phones, too.
I upgraded the phone with the new o2 Radiostack, but still no change.
I tried the SpecialEdition Rom, bis the auto configuration did not work, so I got no signal, because I was not abel to set the phone to o2_de-loop.
Then, I upgraded the Windows to the new version available at o2. Sitll no change.
So, I'm going to disassamble the phone to check some soldering. I think this is some king of contactproblem, because sometimes - after serval resets - the XDA comes up with a working phone! But this only works until the next time I need to press the reset button.
You may have any ideas?
Greetings,
Timo
I'm not able to disassamble the Wallaby
The XDA must be closed with some kind of clip and I don't want to damage the hull of this beautyful and smooth device...
Greetings...

[Q] Hd2 since daylight savings time problem.

My hd2 lately has been acting rather strange. Since daylight savings my phone has been skipping hours seemingly at random, If I change the time manually about half an hour later it will have changed the time by itself to a few hours in advance.
I've tried updating the time through the internet but i've had no luck so far.
I'm currently running chuckys GTX but that isn't the problem because yesterday I had the same problem with Energy rom.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
HD2 daylight saving time problem
I also have this problem since daylight saving.
The phone random changes time, now its 2 hours ahead of normal time.
I also tried everey setting I can find.
Please help me (us)!
I am also having this problem, I turned off internet time sync, but it is still happening, I'll post here if i find a fix!!
I am having same problem as well. Called helpdesk HTC. For them its new. They want to know which provider i use. (Vodafone NL) They want to know if the problem also happens with other providers?
I also installed a stock rom 3.14 and nothing else and still have the problem of random changing the time +1 hour.
wow that is weird... were do you guys live, I live in the US and were changing our time next weekend hopefully this doesnt happen to my phone too
hi.
i have the same problem.
this is rom or radio issue?
The same problem here. If i change time manually, leo will change it by itself in couple of hours. Even if time is changed manually, message will come with a bad time indicator. Automatic time synchronization doesnt help. :\
Stock ROM
This could be your solution (it was mine)
Dutty in his ROM thread posted a cab that would solve that problem. I haven't tried it since I don't have that problem.
YMMV.
see the thread inthe general section for a possible fix....
worked for me (reg edits).....
reply
I just preformed a hard reset. For me it was no problem, the phone was slow for weeks and only tomtom navigator is important to me.
So my problem is solved now thanks to the hard reset.
For the other people, good luck with this problem...I have Vodafone NL btw
Greets
Sorry..problem is back..HARD RESET DOES NOT WORK!
big problem with dst
I think this i s a big problem and maybe only patch can fix this.
I have tried to re-install windows (flash ROM) with the latrest original ROM from HTC
I have tried to get registry backup from another HD2 which doesn't have this problem. it doesn't work.
I have tried to to flash without having SIM card in it and doesn't apply any wireless connection. Windows doesn't know my location and time. Then i connect to GSM operator in Bulgaria and the clock turns one hour ahead then i turn on my Google location services and my phone turns 2 hours ahead.
I'm really pissed off and i think this will be a big trouble... even flashing ROM doen't help, then what...???
ofcourse you can stop all your connections and there will be no problem if you set the correct date, time and location, but this means that i'll never use wheather...
please help. maybe it is time to write to htc support i don't know...
btw i have also android on my hd2 and there is no problem with time.... i really have no ideia...
I also have the same problem my GSM provider is MTel BG
I'm with Globul
Time Problem
I've got the same problem.
@ "drei" Provider in Austria.
-Elegancia V2 and
-actual LEOpard ROM
Radio_Leo_2.15.50.14
all tips since now tested (REG-hack, all time sync options off, reset and more...) without success
Time changes +1h as its wants to. Also @ SMS or call.
the crazy thing is that i changed the Time Zone from "GMT+1 Prague, Budapest" to "GMT+1 Berlin, Rome" and after the first +1h count, time Zone is "GMT+1 Prague, Budapest" again..!!??
please help! im going crazy about this
In Bulgaria i have the same problem. It changes from +2 Minsk to +2 Sofia, Talin...
I think we must write to HTC support and then waiting for patch...
But the most strange thing i found is how this can happen when you falshed your HD2 with the latest ROM from HTC... This means that the configuration is not in Windows Mobile, maybe in something like BIOS or i don't know... Mayby we have bad servers in registry which gave us these troubles and we can;t find them. This trouble doen't appear with Android in same network with same hardware. Maybe Android has another servers for time synchronization...
Problem for me has been solved by duttys wintertimefix.cab
It's in his Rom thread under the cab repository link.
I had the same problem (Sweden Telia) but Dutty's fix seems to do it's work!
Impressive Dutty!!
To bad that ignorant HTC doesn't want to aknowledge problems with their phones, not the first.... An iphone4 seems more and more appealing
Thanks again Dutty!
