Looking for a simple alarm clock for xda 1 (ppc2002) - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

Does anyone have a link to a simple "set it at night / switch off in the morning" alarm clock for PPC2002?
The alarm function supplied as standard requires you to know a week in advance what days you want to set an alarm for... I'm not that well organised.
I just need an alarm I can easily set the night before, regardless of what day it is and have it wake me up in the morning.
Cheers!
Forgedsteel

search google for AlarmClock. Simple and effective freeware.

Thanks but I have been searching and googling and nearly all I come across are business related or mutiple alarms and so on...
If someone is using a simple alarm they can recommend, I can end my quest with a good night's sleep (only to be woken by the alarm the following morning)...

Hi,
I like one from http://www.burroak.on.ca/pta.html. Although it is not free, it's gently simply to use. When you check all days of week active, you can switch over alarm on and off by one button. I'm also looking for something easy to operate and, even more urgently, with small using of memory!!! I would like to take some link.

Thanks for the info!
Just had a look at Ptravelalarm and it looks good. I don't mind paying the price as it is par to a cheap travel clock...
But if anyone can do us a better deal and knows of a small freeware that would do the same job we would be greatly appreciated.

Personally, I recommend WolfClock. It's freeware, and has worked beautifully for me on my Wallaby (a T-Mobile Pocket PC).
Many of the other alarm clocks I have tried (including several purchased ones) where unreliable. IE: They would not go off if I had the charger connected, or if I did not have the clock open when the device went on standby, etc.
WolfClock has proven to be very reliable for me. It has quite a few features, so is probably more than you were looking for, but I would recommend taking a look anyway.

Yes, it may be "overcomplicated" but I like the sound of it... I am a digital artist and the ability to put my own artwork in as the background is interesting.
Many thanks for the info!

HTC weather sucks, who's with me?

It's got very poor accuracy, few information, laggy updating, and has lots of problems with the towns' database.
Is there a way to change the application that is called when pressing HTC home weather button.
This pretends to be a constructive post

I second that. It still doesnt work over proxy server in USA tmobile service now. I rather have the good old weather panel application running.
i am not agree.if you have any better idea, why don't ask HTC to change the plugin?

why? i think it is quite beautyfull ?
Beautiful but not quite functional.
Prefer SPB diary + Ilauncher. Much faster
jcarreira,
Some simple suggestions:
- If you don't like the home plug, don't use it (choose or cook ROM without it, remove from today screen, ...)
- If you don't like part of the home plug (= weather) remove it by changing its settings
- If you feel the need to alter the home plug, feel free to try and hack it or find a version with more settings; you could possibly provide the altered version to us all
What I'm trying to say is:
These people here are doing their best to find solutions and share them with us, even solutions they don't need themselves, WITHOUT PAYMENT and WITHOUT access to the code ... I'm impressed by what Gullum, h4ma, PDAViet and anyone i forget (a lot of people) can achieve in such a short period with so little resources ...
Kind regards
We should be grateful ...
I must remind you that the work performed the the cookers is not in discussion. Indeed the are doing a very good job to provide us very good WM6 ROM. ans of course, in case you haven't noticed yet, HTC Home is not developed by them, but by HTC that in my opinion haven't done any piece of software that was goos enough.

As far as i have read, i think that it is not a matter of being gratefull with people who works on this things. HTC home plug is made by HTC and the matter is that there are a lot of better applications than XDA WEATHER and hopfully it can be changed. That's all.
Just came to cool things I think we all here respect our XDA geeks!

Excuse me, but I think that this is not the question.....
People here don't doubt about cookers work, only are explaining an opinion about a HTC software...
As far as I know, HTC Weather is not developed for nobody that cooks a ROM, only is included in the ROMS, for this, I thnik that your answer is not correct...
Greetings

But the one who is speaking about the cookers?. Simply a topic is exhibited to see if we can improve between all. Nobody says that the work of the cookers is not valued, it seems to me that you have not understood what is proposed in this post.
It is basically if between all it is possible to improve the HTC HOME, and in particular the WEATHER.

Gentlemen... shal we return to the subject? There was just a miscommunication. All what can de said about this, has been said allready...
Let get back to the core-question; is there an alternative to the Weather application used by the Weather tab of HTCHome plug-in?
Like the way the music player is changeable with a simple registry tweak.
Weather fix
Sorry for the misunderstanding.

++ for SPB weather engine.
I used it in spb weather, then mobile shell, now in spb traveller. I find spb traveller to be the best since it supports weather from many cities and also downloads currency rates and has handy travel tools. just perfect!. Also, it autodownloads weather data at every wifi connect! and it looks nice and clean too...

[RELEASE] AKToggleWifi

One of the most common tasks i do many times a day, is turn the wifi in my ATT Tilt on and off. For this I have to go to the Comm Mgr and toggle it on and off. I've always wanted a one tap way of doing it, and had used BatteryStatus in the past, but its icon was too small. With Manilla2D, we dont even have that option anymore, but we do have the nice big manilla launcher.
So i put together some C++ code from myself and from samples around the web, and made a simple exe that just toggles the wifi on and off. I've cabbed it up, so that it will install into \Program Files and put a shortcut in \Windows\StartMenu\Programs called AKToggleWifi.
You can now add it to the Manilla launcher and it will show up as in the attached screenshot.
You can uninstall it from the Settings\System\Remove Programs.
I havent tested it on any device except my Tilt/Kaiser running a 6.1 ROM from Sakajati (Hyperdragon/Blackstone).
let me be the first one to say: THANK YOU.
many, many people have been waiting for this kind of solution before.
regards
bro
nice solution =D
if you got your keyboard open (for the tilt) you can always hit fn + right and it has the same effect. i just discovered the button a few days ago and it made my life easier but so shall this app.
thanks
Just flat out awesome. Works perfectly, using the default AT&T WM6.1 ROM minus bloatware.

to be honest... it's recommended for anyone.. Hbutton is very very fast and works smoothly.. and also very stable.
you can set multiple apps for every button and there are many options to customize the way it loads them... also there are options to assign
Quit, Ok, Toggle WiFi, Toggle BT.. and many more options.
mmh, i use such a wifi toggle since one year, so i´m wonderíng why you made a new one, or did i miss anything ?
the one i´m using at the moment is also here at xda devs:

so thank you for your work, but maybe next time some searching ?
big thanks for this function!!!
i'm looking for this for a long time!
i have a P3300 with alot physical buttons
then i searching to activate the wifi without switching to my home screen or comm manage to activate it.

thanks again for your work !!

i wanted something extremely simple to use, needed no configuration and didnt need other apps to be installed on the device. Hence i wrote this in C++. Yes, other tools can do more and thats great, but they all might require some setup. Since i flash often, i wanted something for myself that i can just use without using any brain energy. Hence the simple app. I'm glad some people find it useful... i certainly find it extremely useful for my own usage style. I released it to everyone rather than keep it to myself, because i have benefitted from the work by other developers on this site, and even if 1 other person finds it useful, i'm satisfied.

do you mean you want something to turn just the phone radio off, similar to how this one turns wifi off? i'll look into it..havent looked at those api's yet, but it should be possible. However, just out my curiosity, why you want to turn the phone off so often?

Could it be possible to get the same but for bluetooth ?
@akarnik: thanks mate, for a useful application. Cheers!

What next

ok I have a HTC Hero locked to Orange (UK) and wondering what the must have apps and widgets are, what I can do to improve it etc. If you guys could share your vast knowledge that would be great.
Also please bear in mind I am fairly techy least people tell me but sometimes looking at others threads here I get lost quite easily.
Cheers

Woah,... Where on earth to begin?......
1st question to ask yourself,... Are you happy to keep it Orange branded?.... Or do you want to install a custom ROM?.... Bear in mind, some ROMS have little tweaks added for better performance and stability, some are experimental, and have bugs that that need a little ironing out, but you could swap and change as many times as you want to test and find one best for you.
BUT BE WARNED,... Changing your ROM will in theory invalidate your warranty,... but you can always flash back to an Orange ROM should you need to send it for repair.
So its up to you?... This is the guide I followed to install a custom ROM,... Check it out,.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=645253
Second,... I'd update the radio to the latest one,... The radio is something to do with how well network, wifi, gps etc work,... I updated mine and saw a big difference in network reception.
,..... Now we can start talking about apps,... All I can do here is give my recommendations,....
Apps
TuneWiki - Can show lyrics for music on your phone or even whilst streaming LastFM.
Spareparts - Extra 'settings' options not available as standard. i.e... Transition animations, Font size, Haptic feedback. Also shows Battery & App statistics.
Shazam - No explanation needed.
Opera Mini - " ".
Movies (by Flixter) - Local movie show times + cinema and DVD reviews (?).
Co-Pilot Live - Satnav.
Astro - File manager.
ACV aka Droid Comic Viewer - Self explanatory.
Audio Manager - To set volume levels for Alarm, Media Player, Alerts, Ringer, System and Calls,.. All in one easy place,... Can then add as a widget to one of your homescreens.
Games
WaveBlazer - Was addicted to this on my 5800, couldn't resist getting it again.
Armagedon Squadron - As above
MotoXMania - I think this is from iPhone, get the moto x'er from one side of course to the other by tilting phone to control biker's weight distribution.
SpeedForge 3d - 3d racing game with mines and rockets set in future, quite difficult (for me) but still fun.
Tetris - Classic!!
Solitaire - Always fun.
PapaStack - Puzzle game, have to stack up all given blocks and make them stand for 10seconds before moving on to the next level.
ThrottleCopter - Based on old flash game "copter". Click button to control throttle on helicopter to get it though the course. The most addictive game so far.
Replica Island - Fun platform game.
EDIT,... Found another even more addictive game now,...
Sketch Online - Online Pictionary,... I cant stop playing it, Minimum an hour every day!
Hope some of that helps pal.
Peace.

Not a radio like FM radio,... I think radio refers to anything that sends or transmits,. i.e The WiFi, GPS, actual network connection. So updating the 'radio' will make those better, and sometimes may increase battery life as well.

[Q] Scheduled alarm clock

[Q] Alternative to Alarm Clock Xtreme?

Hey guys,
I've found myself in the position of needing an alarm app again. I decided to fall back to Alarm Clock Xtreme. It's been working great for the past 2-3 years, and I'm familiar with it.
However, I haven't had the need for it in the past 2 months, and it's clearly been updated.
They removed, or relocated, the restore from backup function!
I can't use my backup to seamlessly start using, by my experiences, one of the best alarm apps on the market?!
Imagine that slap in the face. I've emailed AVG support, in hopes they respond to my inquiry.
In the meantime, is there another alarm app that does the whole math problems to snooze/turn off like Alarm Clock Xtreme does?
Thank you all!
Try using Timely. It has the math problem and puzzles too. Love this app and highly recommend it.
I will keep that in mind, thanks.
I'm currently trying I Can't Wake Up!
I like it's ability to randomize the actions necessary to turn off the alarm. Definitely needed for someone who cannot wake up... me.
sorry to hear about that
Hey guys, Andi from the ACX team here. Two things:
1. Sorry to hear about your problem, I hope customer support got back to you in time. We are preparing a new update that should fix many of the reported bugs and add a pretty cool new feature.
2. On a different note, we want to hear from you and understand why you chose to download an alarm from the Playstore and not use the stock one. Doesn’t matter if you use our app or another alarm clock app. To make it worth your time, there’s an Amazon voucher for those who talk to us. More details here: bit.ly/1Ufi72A - Please help us make ACX better, we really want to hear what you have to say.
I may be forced to switch.
For some reason this app has used 750Mbytes of wifi and 776 Mbytes of mobile data since begining of May.
Has anyone else had that?, Mark
Yitz
