2003se Radio Issue - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

Since I have upgraded my Hima to a Diamond ROM 1.2(WM2003se v2.06 with radio stack v1.18 ),the system was very lazy-slow. This week my provider has a small technical difficulties,I thought that is maybe the Radio software injured inside of my device. Therefore I've reflashed the Radio stack with the one from a v2.20CHS package(hoping there's some differences). What was my surprise, when the same system was running 3x faster then before even though the version of radio is still v1.18(that I didn't know before)... I recommend to reflash that, for all people, that are still using 2003se v2.06 and those, whose are angry due the lazy system.
Cheers!

Sorry to sound so elementary but reflashing??!! What is that all about? Anyway I though flashing was illegal, let alone reflashing..........

Reflashing.
Everybody knows what I mean:Reflashing I mean as Change/Burn over/Replacement/Upgrade the software in the Flash ROM... This expression we are using usually...

Hey don't take it personally! (unless it is a hobby or something?!) JOKE!
Was just curious, am new here, so be prepared for other questions...
Regards

No problem...

Reverting back to the 1.72WWE Rom after upgrading to 2.06WWE

After having successfully upraded my Imate to the newer WM2003SE ROM (2.06WWE), I want to know if it is possible to revert back to the "official" ROM.
Can i just run the HimaUpdate... file for the older ROM and it will work or do I have to do something else?
Has anyone done it? With/Without success?
as far as I know, YES
if you'll run into any troubles, just let me know.
buzz
Absolutely YES!!!... mine was reverted from 2.20 to 2.02 to 2.20 to 2.06 to 1.77 to 2.02 to 1.77 to 2.20 to 2.06.. YES i am experimenting something from that all updates still i have no exoerience having problem... Just run Himaupgr...exe.. thats all
Mind you, since my device is an imate, i ran the "modified" version of the XDA II rom (modified for the carrier, country code and language). And I dont remember where I read it. but I think someone somewhere said that its not as simple as just running the HimaUpdate file.
But the HimaUpdate I will be running to revert back to the official Imate ROM (1.72) is made by Imate so I would think the country, carrier and language settings in that one are already correct.
So you sure I can just run it?
BTW, Reason I am reverting is because I think my signal reception is degraded (from before the upgrade even) and it seems to be a hardware issue. So to get it fixed by them (its under warrenty) I need to have the official rom or the warrenty is void.
Ok boys, I'm gonna do it. (after one more confirmation from you) just a little scared I am you see.....

What should I do.. please read =] upgrade or not?.........

atm my xdaII o2 is dead, it is getting sent in for repair soon, and it was sent in before, they said my mobo was dead, because i tried to upgrade to 2005 (off the O2 website) (i think, not sure, done too much to remember)
they tell me the XDAII does not work with WM2005, so i will be either getting 2003 or 2003se instead. I dearly want to upgrade to wm2005 for more features, but dont want to risk my XDA dying again. should i try to upgrade again, or not? (first my GSM died then my operating system hung at O2 splash screen, eventually rendered my entire ppc useless)
are there any specific ROMS to look for and/ or any specific pitfalls to lookout for, or should i just do without updating and just deal with WM2003?
thankyou all in advance!
ps. if they just upgrade me to wm2003se is that close enough to wm2005 or, is there much difference?
thanks
the wm2005 ppl can get on himalaya is a leaked BETA version it's not the finished version
i doubt you found it on o2's site
since the last official himalaya version released in english is 2003 version 1.7X
many ppl run the beta 2005 and the manualy translated unofficial english 2003SE
buzzdev.net
for 2005 beta
hey, thanks for the reply, it straightened out a lot for me
now, does anyone know if 2005 is being released at all on XDA II?
or is there 2003SE available for official download?
thanks again
Imate have officialy state long agoe that no device which were not sold with 2005 will have it released later on
non of the others that i heard of stated anything other then some stating that no new rom updates would be made for older devices at all
the only official version of 2003SE there is in chinese
and have been altered by ppl on this site to be translated to english
thanks so much for the information, rudegar, you walking library you :
thankyouthankyouthankyou!

Upgrade Question

Please dont flame me. I have done alot of reading ... so much so that I think I have confused myself. I dont need step by steps how to do it ... I just need to know if what I am reading is correct or not.
I installed the new ROM and here is my info.
ROM 2.06.502.3
Radio 1.16.00.00
IPL - 1.00
SPL - 1.09
From there I did the v3 SIM & CID Unlocker ... which I did before but did again because I was not sure if it would stick.
All I want to do is upgrade the radio ... I drop alot of calls and I am hoping that 1.27.00.00 helps.
To do this, would I need to run the program to take my BL v. to 1.01 MFG from 1.09, then upgrade to 1.04. Then I can install a new radio ROM? Or is there something else that is keeping me from doing it.
I am sorry and I promise not to ask anymore noob questions. I just want to make sure I fully understand.
Thanks guys.
Kangle
BTW, I think the new ROM version is great. My 8525 is running better than ever (faster) and battery life is WAY better than it was before. I strongly recommend it. Disable the startup animation though! It sucks and it messes up your volume.
bump
Please, anyone. I really appreciate it.
Well, I am by far no expert on this (and scared of bricking my device) ... so what I did was everything you described ... then I re-installed the new Cingular ROM ... thereby upgrading my radio to 1.33.31.00.
Had I foresight, I would have used the unlocker before upgrading to the new Cinguar ROM (so I would not have to install it twice)...live and learn.
I did not bother with the steps you described necessary to install the 1.27 radio ...figuring I could live with 1.33.31.00
sorry, I misread your post.
-------------
You got radio 1.16 which has radiobl 107, so go ahead and grab a copy of the 1.27 radiorom and run the update.
I read that I need to have BL 1.04 to upgrade the radio.
I currently have BL 1.09. So the only way I can go back to 1.04 is by going to imei-check.co.uk and paying for it right?
Thanks,
Kangle
why do you want 1.27 instead of 1.33?
so, no one answered my prior question ... I realize the Radio ROMs are subjective (and discussed ad naseum in various places on this forum) but I am still looking for a succinct summary (if there is one) as to why I would tinker with my Radio ROM to get off of 1.33 and maybe down to 1.27 or some other.
Are there known and significant issues with 1.33?
Anyone?
I really dont know.
Most of the people I see on the forum are on 1.27.00.
I thought I read somewhere that it seemed to work well for most people, although I do not know why 1.33 wouldnt be just as good. Im still a noob.
If anybody can confirm what I am thinking regarding what I need to do, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
Kangle
well, 1.33 is working fine for me... and it certainly would be *easier* for you just to re-flash the new cingular rom again (now that you are sim unlocked and super cid) ... that is what I did, and it worked fine. [and candidly, I was to scared of the many steps I was going to need to take to otherwise downgrade my SPL in order to change my Radio]

No issues with 1.33. The only advantage of the 1.27 radio is that it uses radio bootloader (RBL) 1.007, whereas Radio 1.33 has RBL 1.008. The difference is that you can run downgrades on 1.27, but not on 1.33.
The only reason that you might want to downgrade is so that you may flash a trinity Radio if they manage to get the GPS going, which seems unlikely without a hardware mod. So unless you plan on opening up your Hermes at some stage to do some surgery, you don't need to downgrade the radio stack.

Radio Upgrade

Hi i am newbie from turkey...
i want to upgrade radio 1.21 to 1.35...my phone is i-mate jasjam...if i did this will be any problem ?
if did this upgrade my phone will hard reset and lost my data ?
and if did this upgrade can i countinue using my rom (xdalive 0.20) without reflashing rom ?
sorry for my english
Yes you can do the upgrade and you do not have to do a hard reset. You will not lose your data. And you can continue using your current rom.
Get the file named
RUU_1.35.00.11_radio_only.exe
thank you very much i did upgrade !
my last question is what is differences my between my old radio and 1.35 ?(eg changelog.txt)
unknown... you will never know what has been changed in the Radio ROM, only that it is (probably) more efficient and stable.
Radio firmware is a touchy thing, and HTC hence keep all that info private
thank you.....
So is there any benefit to updating the Radio firmware continually? I updated mine from 1.05 to 1.27 and have noticed a dramatic increase is battery life and signal quality from use today.

new confused owner of Athena

Hi friends! and brothers in arms
I really NEED your help, and I would know to APPRECIATE it!
Before 2 days I became new proud owner of X7500(my old dream come true-change it for previous device Diamond)
These 2 days I have been reading all threads and posts about upgrading, but i am still CONFUSED?!Because upgrading Athena is much more complicate than Diamond or even my old Tytn2?!
This Advantage is second hand device(ex owner sold it my bro,who gave it to me-after i had gave him my 2 months old Diamond...I don't repent),and I do not know its upgrading history.
I see that its
WM6.1
ROM ver. is AP 4.0 Platinum
Radio vers. is 1.50.00.00
and in bootloader mode I get these infos:
ATHE100
IPL-v2.02
ATHE100 MFG
SPL-v3.50.Olinex
My real problem is interpretation of these infos?!
I have an idea to upgrade to new ROM WM6.5 MULTILANG R6.5 RC1 by MiChYPrima, and my main question is :is my Athena SAFE of bricking during standard procedure of upgrading,or I have to do something before that(e.g. hard Spl,or some other prevention of bricking)?
Thanx in advance!
Sory for my English!

Am I right when I think that every needed step before upgrading new ROM is already done(cid unlock,HardSpl..)?
Thanx
It seems that you are ready to upgrade to michyprima 6.1 without needing to do anything before. Since you have "SPL-v3.50.Olinex" your device should be ready. Make sure to download the right version and for you is the one which clearly says SPL3.5:

You already have a cooked rom (AP 4.0 Platinum) so everything should be working good after.
Sorry for my English too...
Greetings from Greece brother!
Thanx MXracer!!!
U R great man!!
I did it!
Everything is working great!
I put Radio rom too, ver.1.58!
Now is time for "fine tuning" of device and software into it!
Thanx again MXracer!
I owe you!!
greetings from Serbia
You'll like the radio 1.58. I, and many others, noticed a very large increase in network data speed after that upgrade. A shame that the hardware supported it from the start but HTC has never officially provided an update for Athena owners.
To further explain the "3.50" MX talked about above, essentially there are 2 versions of the "file system" in the Athena. The factory version is "1.20" if I remember correctly. When AP 4 came out (here on xda-developers) those guys changed the file system so there would be more reserved room for the operating system. AP 4 was very large and needed that extra OS room, but of course the downside was less room for additional programs. That is the "3.50" you see in the bootloader. I still use AP 4 because it had so much built-in I've had to install very little extra stuff to work for me.
SPL 1.20 was the code given once the device was unlocked, can't remember what factory one was. It was all so long ago

To clarify:
1.2 was developed first to unlock standard X7500/X7501 and be able to work on ROMs for those devices. That ROMs were more or less a developed versions of first WM6 coming from various other devices as well as the original X7500/X7501 ROMs.
Then X7510 was released with WM6.1. The ROM was much bigger in space on the disk. X-DEVs (Mainly Pawel and his TEAM together with Olin and cmonx) have decided to use this ROM as a base for AP4. That is why OlinX group have developed new SPL3.5 which created bigger space for this new ROM. Those two SPLs are not compatible. If a ROM is made for SPL1.2, it shouldn't be installed on SPL3.5, and the opposite. However to switch from SPL1.2 to SPL3.5, you have to first install AP4. It is because AP4 installer has SPL3.5 built in. Actually, this is the only way to switch from SPL1.2 to SPL3.5.
If somebody wants to move back to SPL1.2, no problem. Cmonx has prepared special procedure for that. However one should never try to install ROM made for SPL3.5 on the device with SPL1.2 (unless the new ROM is AP4) or any ROM for SPL1.2 on the device with SPL3.5 installed already.
About Athe versions:
AThe100 is on X7500/X7501 devices. Athe400 is on X7510 devices. Those 2 devices look pretty similar, but in fact have big differences in hardware, and because of that, one should never try to install ROM on one of those devices, which was prepared for the other type. The difference is in storage and hardware keyboard. X7510 has flash 16GB storage, while X7500/X7501 have 8GB hard drive. Those two need different drivers. So if you try to install ROM for X7510 on X7500/X7501, you will loose your 8GB hard drive. If you do the opposite, you will loose your 16GB Flash Disk. Normally it shouldn't be possible because ROM installers should not let you do that, but some users here have managed to do this some how, and they had a problem.
Hope this helps a bit.
