I've got hold of the OS_ROM (NK.nbf) and the RADIO_ROM (Radio_.nbf). But I can't seem to find out where to get the ms_.nbf file.
Please help a newbie like me.

ms_.nbf is the extended rom file....it's not a must on ur PDA so u can live without it....
if u only upgrade nk.nbf(ROM image),and radio_.nbf(radio=phone),then ur old ms_.nbf(ex rom) will stay untouched....IF IT IS COMPATIBLE WITH THE OS :wink:
now if ur upgrading from an 2003 original ROM to magneto,then u will not see old EXT ROM,this is why u will never need old one on magneto,so u just empty it before upgrading...
the EXT ROM is customised to fit ur needs,example:
if ur an i mate original ROM user,and u have the i mate ROM untouched before,then u wil see additional softwares is ur PDA related to i mate..etc
if ur an i mate user in an arabic country,then ur untouched ROM will hold arabic applications like language and dictionary etc.
if ur an "advanced"(not too advanced) user,u can cook ur own EXT ROMs,so they can fit ur needs by putting ur favorite softwares that will be run automatically after hard reset.
plz note that ur extended rom softwares r installed on the EXTENDED ROM chip wich is part of ur ROM chip,but invisible.it can be unlocked by the ext.rom unlocker software developped by the guys of this site(thanx guys ).
now if ur willing to find an EXT ROM badly,ur gonna search the ftp server by doing the following:
1-log on as user:xda,pass:xda
2-go to wiki page wich is on the top left of ur page
3-go to ftp...and then to ftp root
u will find several ext rom file wich all r ms_.nbf
now if u want my advice,install EXT ROM developped by xda2jojo and toenailed with sin merged.....(thanx a lot guys.....ur GR888888888 ....though am not using it anymore coz am running BUZZMOBILE on ma MDA2....oh thanx buzz....ur my idol )
am sorry i cannot attach the EXT ROM i was talking about(coz of my connection speed...it sucks,and the file is too large,but i've already guided u to where u can find it :wink:
one more thing:the guys ms_.nbf is too large(usually ms_.nbf is 16 mb,this 1 is 32 mb,notice that the guys did it smart,it was impossible before there idea,so thanx again guys :wink: ),so it will take a lot of space in ur storage memory,but it worth....

The only thing that's showing in my devicedata.txt is this:

1st of all ur imate PDA2 device is not a himalaya device,it's an Alpine,so u cannot upgrade it to magneto or WM2005,sorry to tell u that
second,ur device data that u have got using HIMAgetdevicedata.exe(although this file is designed for himalaya devices but it looks that it worked on PDA2 :? despite the operator id)means the following:
ROM version: 1.11.00WWE
radio version: 1.11.153
language: WWE
extended ROM: 1.03.00
and of course because ur device is original imate so the operator is: CDL
so my friend,just a little advice,don't mess up with ur phone trying to install magneto on it,cause there's no magneto ROM YET for alpine devices,and if there will be,then u will surely find them in this site...

andun sa isang thread ko kung paano ako nag update, yung by edit the ms_.nbf using hex editor, para wala kang error tungkol sa Country ID, and there is another suggestion using xda2nbftool, to change also the country ID try to check this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=4785&highlight= hope this will help you.

took around 30min.
Be aware that the nbf files in that upgrade are set to operator ID CDL in the extra part of the ms_.nbf file (see my post for details about the extra part). So if you run this without modification, your device will be set to operator ID CDL and will only accept future upgrades with CDL specified as the operator in the nbf headers.

(1) I tried DCS's steps but i only got as far as the 7th step because, when i extracted the devicedata, I didnt know the operator and language values i needed to enter on step 8 (do i use CDL first then re-upgrade using O2? Also in your NOTE, there was a portion for inputting O2 in the extra block of data (where is this?)
(2) I dont know how to use the xda2nbftool to edit the values on step 9
Im a total newbie on this. If this were a desktop PC, it would be safer and easier for me.

I bought kasi my XDAII last Nov 2003 and my wife got one for herself just this week.
I patched my unit (last March 2004) with the one suggested by http://www.myxda.com and I found out that my wife's unit doesn't require the same patch. Further investigation shows that my ROM version is lower (1.60.00WWE compared to my wife's 1.66.00.WWE).
So my question is, do I need to patch my unit to 1.72? What are the benefits in upgrading to 1.72? Why do you want to upgrade to 1.72?

I am sorry you felt you couldn't do this. But I will try to help.
This is the contents of the DeviceData.txt I generated using HimaGetDeviceData on my own XDA II
Code:
U S B 3 2 1 . 7 2 . 0 0 W W E P H 1 0 O 2 W W E 1 . 7 2 . 1 2 6 1 . 1 7 . 0 0
"USB 32 1.72.00WWE " is the OS Version
"PH10" is the Device Type
"O2" is the Operator ID
"WWE" is the Language ID
"1.72.126" is the Extended ROM Version
"1.17.00" is the Radio Version
Obviously the actual content will depend on your device, but the layout of the information will be the same.
Once you are able to identify the operator ID and language ID from your own DeviceData then you should be able to follow the steps in my post here.
As regards the hex editor, I have updated the instructions for that in my post to hopefully make it simpler. It is the hex editor that is used to view and change, if necessary, the contents of the 'extra data'.

Obviously, upgrading your XDA II is something you must decide for yourself I have read in a few places on this forum that it is thought the 1.14 radio is poor, but didn't have it on my device long enough to comment on

Bluetooth performance is much improved! The XDA2 now transfers calls almost instantaneously to my HBH65.

I have a very big problem with my wm6.1 Rom . i want to replace two fonts files in the windows folder , but they are protected inside the Rom .. i tried all the methods but no way , maybe it needs a CID unlock ?
the fonts are : segoe.ttf and segoeb.ttf , they are encrptyd and protected inside the rom files, anyway to make change or replace them ?
nothing is working with them , no Edit ,no replace , no rename , no making them for read only , i cannot modify anything

for flashing any vendors ROM to your startrek - you will be able to flash Cingular 3100/3125, i-mate Smartflip, Qtek 8500, Orange SPV F600, HTC S411 ROMs to your dopod
btw, you can use SoftSPL for that purpose

what the ****ing problem you mean? you CAN NOT edit/modify files in ANY rom, they are read only, in ALL roms
just dont use ****ing Windows Vista with ****ing Windows Mobile Device Center - it can't "OVERwrite" readonly files, but ActiveSync can do this

i wanna ask something i'm a g4 user ofcourse but i'm taking the wizard love as my official i'm k-jam(G4) user i have the official roms from the clubimate ftp site but i'm afraid to flash cuz i'm g4 and i don't know it's save for g4 or not i choosed one from the official for the imate but i t have ipl and spl and extROM and every thing i think and the GSM by the way i wanna use the official imate k-jam rom for my arabic support and the most important the GSM i wanna use 2.07.10 again cuz the wizard love installed the 02.25.11 that gives me a cannot exceute errors

All the official roms are meant for both the devices simultaneously,it includes IPL/SPL for both the devices and at the time of flash the,it determines the version and only flashes appropriate IPL/SPL to the phone,So just nothing to worry!

thX for ur help i alwayes trust ur words tY but my second afraid that my phone is CID LOCKED CUZ I DON'T KNOW locke or unlocked and should i use any softspl oh hardspl or just flash from the zip folder i downloaded without any thing ????
If you are sure your Wizard is a K-JAM and neither HardSPL nor SoftSPL is installed, just go ahead and you will have no problem.
However if your K-JAM has HardSPL installed (SPL version is 2.xx.olip), you need to uninstall it before flashing original K-JAM ROM.

thX for respond and giving guide i didn't make the hard spl i flashed twice with the soft spl method and the spl and ipl didn't changed but the gsm changed once from 0.07.10 to 02.25.11 and i'm having trouble with my new gsm (ERRORS AND NO RECEPTION SOMETIMES NOT STAbLE) that's y i wanna flash the official rom with the old radio that worked with me well before and then flash a new rom with soft spl again thx for support i appreciate any advice
Well,if you just want to reflash back to official k-jam for Radio rom,then there's no need to flash,just download different versions of Radio Roms from here and simply upgrade them anf check which suites you the best.radio roms can be flashed independent of any Rom (OS) and can be flashed straight as they don't include any IPL/SPL in them,it won't change any Bootloaders or OS.

i tried T-Mobile-UK_2.19.11_Radinly and it didn't start the % process in 0 % errored that i'm not for this install invalid update and update urs something like that i don't know y

i have falashed a rom to my i-mate k-jam and it's not my first time to do it but after one day of working perfect i collabst i restarted it but it just opens to the image pic displaying ipl and spl but never prossed opnning w tried to restore the factory ut it says format error and not formated and i tryed flashing a new rom from the bootloder scren but after flashing nothing happen it only opens and never prossed to the next screen just the first screen that abers when opning ar restarting the wizard and never prossed or open plx tell me what to do and if some body plx know if there is a program that i could with it throught restor and format the wizard plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz :'(
