Maybe this helps....
Stefan

Thanks stefan thats a great help
All i need to know now is.......... shall i swap over the SDRAM & FLASH chips?
Or just the flash chips ? the XDA's are both PW10A1's so there the same inside.

Dont bother swapping ram!
Im impressed at your soldering skillz if you can successfully swap ANY surface mount chips inside the XDA.
Is this XDA 1 or 2?
If its the XDA2 all the important information is inside the Flash inside the processor, so you would have to swap that too.

xda 1
I have no choice. unless i can soure a new board

10 Questions before I buy my o2 XDA (UK)

1. Is it really that bad as a phone - many have commented on weak single strength etc.
2. Will I have to buy a serial connection/docking bay to connect to my NT 4.0 Workstation.
3. If I use the device as just a phone - no playing around - how long will it stay charged on stanby.
4. Will the headphones hat I get with the unit allow me to listen to mp3's and what is the quality like?
5. Using GPRS - if I am sending and receiving emails (pop3), obviously I have the filesize of the email to consider - but how much data will I transfer when checking for new email and downloaded lists of unopened email. What hidden bandwith will I use?
6. Is the OS future proof? Will microsoft dump the Pocket PC OS very shortly?
7. There is software out there that allows you to control yout tv and vcr etc. Is the infrared powerful enough - do you have to sit on top of the telly for it to work - It's not major important - but just interested?
8. I have seen some phones that you can put two sim cards in - can you do that with the xda?
9. Will software designed for tyhe ipaq work on the xda.
10. Is this a good deal - Device cost £199, o2 30 mins month £15, 5mb per month £12? Can I use another gprs provider??
Add 11 th & 12th question
As someone also considering purchase in UK ..
11. How practical is the screensize / voice level to use the device with GPS in car such as tomtom navigator 2
12. Does unlocking software operate on W2K / XP ??
answers but only my opinion
1. useless if signal lost (search for my posts) in rom updated section.
2. can't answer this one as i use XP Sorry !
3. i have had 3 or 4 days between charges and if it keeps signal its ok.
depends on how much u use and talk though.
4. headphone quality is quite good for mp3 only problem is getting them to stay in your ears i have some foam boots off another set that help but they are still awkward.
5. you can set a limit on what u grab ie no file attach just headers etc so bandwidth u use will depend on ammount of emails and your settings.
6. who can tell what microsoft will do ? its future proof as long as they want it to be really.
7. infrared is kinda weak i found about 2 metres was my max with remote software.
8. maybe possible but the way it fits in i feel any mod would be ugly and easily damaged (liitle rubber door and a tiny microswitch that has to be operated would make this difficult (but who knows someone might do it) and you would also have to unlock it.
9. seems to work most ARM software unless there are harware rerlated issues to the ipaq like rotating screen or assigning buttons.
10. only you can answer that one for yourself do you feel its necessary at that cost and can u afford it ?? when unlocked i can see no reason at all why you could not use a differnet gprs provider as long as you had their sim in .
11. i have hooked it up to my gps reciever via serial cable with tom tom and it works but I dont now how noisy your car is  its loud enough in my rover 400
12. maybe xda developers can answer this one for you?

Yes it does. 98/ME/NT/2000/XP and possibly also 95. And it's likely to also run on newer versions of Windows.
Further developments to my questions.
Today I went to the o2 Shop - to answer some of my q's
One thing that struck me was that when he went on the web - he still had to dial/connect - I thought they were online all the time?
My 2c:
1. It's not totally unusable, but if you need good coverage in weak signal areas, this device isn't for you.
2. Yep, you need a serial cable.
3. Can't answer as I use the PocketPC stuff much more than the phone stuff, but with moderate PPC playing, it lasts the weekend out no problem. As with all other phones, if you know you'll be out of coverage for a while, turn the phone off to save the batteries being drained by the 'anybody out there' signal when the phone trys to find a cell.
4. I quite like the headphones. The quality of the device's audio is very good. If you've got a pair of headphones you really like, you can get an adaptor pretty easily. A cheap 2.5->3.5mm phono adaptor is fine if you don't need to use the answer button.
5. There's not much hidden bandwidth, WYDIWYG (what you download is what you get). I think the polling for new emails mich be a bit inefficient: it seems to download all headers each time, but I've not investigated this.
6. This is one of the great things about the XDA, the OS is pretty much standard, and updatable (although O2 drag their heels on this one), so it's reasonably future-proof. There's too much of an existing PocketPC userbase for the platform to be abandoned.
7. As answered above. I think there's an adaptor for the IPAQ that uses the phono socket to drive a more powerful IR, but out of the box it's just to weak to work well.
9. Surprisingly, most IPAQ stuff works fine. The overclock utility even works (as usual be careful, it can cause a hard reset). HTC makes both devices after all. The main gotcha is there are less buttons on the XDA.
10. That's the deal I'm using. They're all pretty much the same. O2s coverage isn't as strong as Vodafone in some areas, but at least they offer some form of device support.
GRPS, while often advertised as an "always on" technology, does require you to dial up. The new rom alows you to set it so it doesn't disconnect on powersave/incoming phonecall. Of course if you loose your signal, it disconnects.
Thanks
Thanks so far!

Thank you for your answer! Is your device rooted? Because only if it's rooted you can go to the folder where the file is. Or maybe you have the ROM? That will be the best way if you have the ROM to send it to me. Or to ask your reseller to send it to you? By the way where did you buy it from? That might help me to obtain the original firmware.
Thanks

How is the folder named? Let me look in to that first, i don't think the site allows direct company names that sell this product.
I'm surprised about the low info here on this tablet.
Maybe new info i found will help, it's also known as superpad.
And I'm sure it's no fake. Google it. I will not advertise here.
Still need some good info and answers.

I bought one of these chunks of crap, it ran for 24 hrs now it won't boot it had newer yospad firmware but I can't remember the exact build cause it won't boot now. What I need to know is how to do a hardware reset, not the little reset button it just restarts it or another yospad rom.
Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

Who the hell gives names to this devices .. ? Flytouch 5 ? zomg!
this is the ONLY company that has the Infotmic SoC available for implementing into tablets:
http://www.shuoying.com/global/index.asp
http://www.shuoying.com/global/Product.asp?/3.html (tablet page)
I Know that, cause I personally visited the head of Infotmic SoC design (Shenzhen) and ShuoYing CEO, also in Shenzhen (Infotmic HQ is from Shanghai)
If there is any other tablet with "Flytouch" design, then they are tempered from the original tablet made by Shuoying, or they are so wild that it is really a mystery of it's origin.
My guess is that those are regular FT2 (since all have the same CPU) tweaked by some wild chinese people, Kernel and OS, and RAM/ROM
not to all - dont buy tablets from companies that dont show up in 1-2 hours search. You'll end up with tablet that someone assembled by hand and a screwdriver, and most probably extremely bad OS.
flashing rom on yospad
Use only Z4 to root the yospad. Can someone leave link for fw flash for yospad

I think your completely right there.
I use it for a remote control know.
Thanks for the input btw.
Digital Zoro - im sorry for your failed tablet device.
On the other hand - I find the FT2 design to be the best tablet design ever. it obviously lacks the fine finish, and better materials, but - 10 inch wide tablet, with every god damn port there is - pure win.
I saw the "actual" FT3 in Infotmic Shenzhen, and it looks awesome - capacitive screen, ARM Cortex A8 based infotmic SoC (about time dudes, you are sooo late) .. dont know why isnt out yet, cause all those named "FT3" dont have same specs as the one I saw.

My Flytouch 5
The design is not really bad and i like that it has the rj-45 port.
The screen I find bad. No multitouch and slow reaction when touched.
Its thick and heavy to hold.
Flytouch 5 should have GPS build in, but it doesn't.
The Flytouch 2 3 4 5 are all the same design. On one moment it lost the second mini sd slot.
Is this only with the fake ones?
No, they are all faulty. the forementioned Shuoying company makes crapy tablets
I took for bussines 30 units the first time around, and I still have 6 broken units. others had flaws, mostly of how they are assembled - everything is sticking out, and such. USB/SD slots die more often than you could imagine.
buttons are the biggest problem - they are not glued in & soldered - they are JUST soldered. so the only thing that holds them into place is Tin (Sn) and we all know how that is firm and solid
oh, there is also a screen problem - there are 3 types of ZIF wire-to-board connector types for the screen, so if you ever need a screen replacement - dont even think about it.
the best assembled chinese tablet is from a company Utopia, in my expirience. you can find them by the name "imx515" A8 or A10 tablet. it turns out that solutions for assemble is better than most of the branded companies.

Can someone please advise me on this phone? I wanted a mid-range android phone and the price is nice. I was told to be careful about ROM updates from chinise manufacturers, that most of the times they don't update and fix bugs. I have a galaxy gio and this phone which I mention seems to be somewhat better than it.
Thank you!
Bump
I agree: here's another version of it which states it has 1gb of ram and Android version 4.0.9, kinda odd... but the ram would be nice. Anybody know of this company or phone?

Hi, we have just got this phone,
Overall pretty happy, runs very fast and snappy. The only issues are the limited Google play apk access and occasional battery overheat? On earlier versions of android market it was possible to change the build file properties so that Market thought it was a different device without apk limitations. I can play around with this once it is rooted.
Did you use the zopo 100 root method from the zopo website with their “TPSparkyRoot” program?
Cheers Matt
yes i use it and its worked .. but the only problem .. not all apps . work good i mean the its asked about root permission
this is some tips to root it easly ... download google sdk pack and download usb driver from this pack and all will goes well ... the betterry is also well with mee but charging it take time since i charge it from the computer .

Unfortunately some apps are not shown on Play market cause market cosiders these apps not compatible with "alps x310e" device and there is no solution for that.
One of these apps. is "whatssup msng" that you won't find in the market but you can download it from whatssup site with your pc and than install without problems.

1. The touchscreen no work while the phone is placed on a surface (a table for example) O_O It works perfect when you hold it on hand
2. The 3g connection isn't working good (sometimes I lost connection or simply can't connect)
Tryed 2 different sim cards and the 2 at same time
WIFI perfect! the screen resolution is awesome, camera is good (photo and video)
It comes with 512Mb ram (the info show total of 1G but is a trick)
And me too! got only 175Mb free, how it can be posible?
It's rooted and i've disable all the chinese apps with the root app delete application.
The notification led are awesome, I like it to much.
i was planing to buy the phone from pnadawall .. but i didn't .. cuz i dont like the way he talk to me in youtube .. so i buy it from Seller on aliexpress ... back to your problem .. 3g work with me very good .. you need t check the coverge in your area.. pluse check the cover .. you will notice theree this antena in the back check if it's well connected ..

Mini PCI-E storage

Hi,
I've just acquired a 16GB WiFi only TPT, and my first thought was I'd stick a 3G modem in it, but I understand from the model number that its lacking the various antenna connectors to make this possible.
I'd still like to put the slot to use though. I've been looking at storage options, and I've seen a few different devices. One was an SSD (I gather that if anything was going to work it would ahve to be PATA, not mSATA, which is the same physical connector).
I've found various examples on eBay (sorry, can't post links, but a search for " ebay mini pcie PATA SSD " will give you a clue.
Another option I'd considered was a SD-card adapter, (again, can't link to it, but " ebay mini pcie sd card " should get you there).
There are 2 possible issues
1) physical space, I don't know what thickness of the 3g modules are, and whether either of the above would fit
2) drivers - although the SSDs in particular, should be pretty plain vanilla devices, whether there is support in the kernel for them remains to be seen.
Has anyone tried / considered something like this? Plan B is hunt around for a 3rd party 3G antenna set, but I haven't investigated this yet.
cheers,
Hugh

I think the first one wount be an issue. the second should not be an issue, because most of these drivers should be in android. but i cant promise!
in any case you could create your own kernel with the driver inside.
i would give it a try, as long as its not too expensive.

MTCD - Swap Radio Module TDA7786 for TEF6686

Update 27/07 - did not improve the radio enough to recommend this modification/change.
Apparently the TEF6686 module has better performance than the TDA7786 - e.g. 7786 poor sensitivity, selectivity, multipath issues etc. My JY TDA7768 is terrible, even with an RF amp, so to find out if the TEF is any better, thought I would try and investigated swapping tuner modules. Reviewing the GS board I have as a spare part against my JY, I identified the modules are pin-for-pin compatible.
Sucessfully swapped the Radio module from a donor GS board containing a TEF6686 Module into my JY board originally containing a TDA7786. The GS board was quite difficult to unsolder the module, perhaps due to leadfree solder, fortunately the JY board was easy, the desolder wick readily desoldering the module.
As for results, I have bench tested and RDS, tuning, audio etc is OK, I am yet to test in the vehicle. Will update this thread with results.
See attached images. Note that the JY case had additional mounts that over time might short out against the non-ground PCB tracks, resulting in complete failure of the unit!
Welcoming any questions.
Did the reception really improved?? And RDS AF fuction is working well with malaysyk V3 firmware?

Hi,
The tef6686 appears marginally better, is more sensitive and appears to handle multipath better. Im not sure if I would call it out as a worthy upgrade just yet - need more time.
wonder if it can be bought on its own.. seems like just the chip itself which is surfaced mounted on the riser card as pictured above.. so this would prove difficult to install

Ive seen a suitable module available on aliexpress that would need some modification to swap a couple of pins. That is the TEF6686-TDQ-230V-186 (10 pin) - a whole $6 bucks US.
http://s.aliexpress.com/QBfay
Next week this module come to me , so in the next weekend I have time to swap.

That's great, don't forget these are not pin-pin identical and will have to figure out swapping pins. Search for the manufacturer PDF and check against the mtcd schematic. I'll upload the module PDF later today.
Hi, final thoughts - the upgrade in my experience was marginally better - not worth it!

could be something else in the implementation, not just the chip itself.
i have 2 boxes, one with 7786, the other with 6686 and the difference in reception is worlds apart. I mean even with the powered antenna not connected to 12V, i had no hiss on any station received.
7786 with powered antenna is just fine, don't get me wrong, but 6686 is better.

I had thought about that but there's no difference in implementation I can see after comparing from schematic. Perhaps I had a 'good' 7786.
- MCU is latest HA
- Both modules are digitally controlled by MCU/i2c bus.
- same supply
- latest HA android 6.
There's really not much to it, 5volts, antenna connection, i2c comms and audio out. I get multipath noise/crackles from stations between 99 and 102mhz. Same between both tda and TEF.
Can you clarify what you mean by 'better'.
Hi!
Maybe there are some differences in the Radio Software used in the different HU. The Chip is controlled by I2C and it seems to be possible to activate or change some behavior of FM Reception through some commands.
Is it maybe possible to extract the radio Software from the good HU so we can try it out on different devices (with TEF 6686).
It would be really nice if it would be possible to control some of the possible configuration of the chip manually...

No differences in android and same MCU, MCU controls radio module via I2c. The "upgrade " has no discernable difference.
Any more details? I need a more sensitive tuner. I have a full power mast but my car is all SMC so the radio needs all the help it can get.

Sure - there are two different tuner modules and neither of them are 'better'. I suspect its hit and miss in the production of either modules.
If you have a proper external antenna, which is properly connected, there's nothing you can do apart from using internet streams or DAB if available for best quality.
thanks, do you know if these unit have the 7786 or the 7786M IC?

Are you sure ? Cos on MTCB/C units the AF doesnt work and the PTY is plain wrong (I have an MTCD unit now but I havent tested the radio yet, its still on the bench), but someone (deffo Italian I remember that) made some changes and got PTY to work correctly and I thought he did it by modding the app ratehr than anything on the MCU side. Sadly I cant remember exactly what thread it was in, or who it was.

Unfortunately the only way to tell on MTCD untis is to open it up, unlike the MTCB/C units where you can select the tuner type in facory settings, which is strange cos MTCD MCUs are much more powerful 32 but compared to MTCB/C's 8bit . . .
. . . or maybe there is a way ? - @marchnz's dmesg output mentions "6686" in the first post.
Hi,
Can someone help with radio module pins schematic for XD-6686AF-0. This is same radio module that @marchnz has swaped. I am forced to change main that is not pin to pin identical to TEF6686-TDQ-230V-86-TDQ-230V-86-R that I have from aliexpress.
Thank you
P.S.

I guess this is what I am looking for.
Leaving a tip for everyone looking for this schematic.
Thanks to @marchnz

Do you have a datasheet? Shouldnt be too hard to match up against schematic.

Radio module that comes from aliexpress has description on every pin.
Can be seen on the picture that is provided in this link.
I can make a new photo if someone needs clear image of this module.
