How can I increase Storgae memory in WM 2005 ? - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

When I go into Settings->System->Memory, I saw that my storage has just 15Mb, but Program memory has nearly 90Mb. How can I decrease the Program memory and increase the Storage Memory ? Please help me, I can not install any soft with a too small memory !
Thank you very much for your help !

unlock extended rom by using the second attachement....then copy and run DOC on ur device(1st attachement).....
beware:all ur data on internal memory will be lost...
i still beleive u should have read everything about Magneto before installing it on ur device, but since u didn't,pass by http://www.buzzdev.net ,register, and read....
RAGO

Thank you very much for your help. Now I have 31Mb storage memory. However, what is "Progam Memort" used for ? I saw that, I have nearly 90Mb, but I can not install or copy data to that memory.
Thank you again !

storage memory critically low error
is this related to the storage critically low error? what would be the implication if i'll try to change the storage memory using the above tools? or is there any way to solve the error. i tried the "Volatile" procedure, but i have nothing in that directory.
thanks again.[/b]

hi
the program memory my friend is the RAM,it's the memory that ur device CPU uses as random access memory....it s like 256MB or 512MB or whatever RAM in ur desktop computer....
in previous OS versions(eg:2003SE),u had 128MB RAMs in ur device, divided into storage memory on the left and program memory on the right....the cursor that lies in the middle was used to navigate between them to increase one and decrease another....(u remember...don't u?? )
Now in Magneto, this option does not exist anymore,u just have:
1-Storage Memory=internal memory(or what was called storage)
2-program memory=RAMs
The only way to increase storage memory is by using DOC partition(it uses the Extended ROM memory and add it to storage, this is why ur now having 31MB of storage)
*note that the storage memory now is a persistant memory, this means that u can let ur backup battery drain,u will lose nothing of ur stored informations.... (not volatile memory)
and....btw babyblue,pay a visit to buzzdev.net(i've gave u the link),u will know EVERYTHING about magneto.....beleive me

hi arcquisumbing,do the following:
1-unlock and unhide ue ext ROM memory, intall DOC u will have 31MB of storage....
2-use the attached software to clean ur storage memory,u will solve the storage critically low error...
btw:don't install too much softwares on the storage, use ur storage card
hope i've helped
RAGO

fast cleanup
i'll try this now.......
thanks a lot RAGO.......
you're a saviour..............

Ramdisk
Of course, should for any reason more storage memory be required, you can always steal some program memory by installing a ramdisk (=non-persistent). The suggestion to read the threads on www.buzzdev.net still stands!

Memory management

Currently i have 35Mb of space in use.
26Megs is for a game & the other 9Mb i'm presumming is windows etc. however there is an optional file for said game that is 84Mb and i don't have the storage.
i was wondering if it is possible to load all the windows data into the 14Mb of free storage/rom leaving just the game in main memory. then there will be space for the additional file:
game 26Mb + additional file 84Mb = 110Mb (14Mb free)
This is not a permanant solution, obviously an mmc card is a better option but i don't have the cash at the moment, so i want a quick fix for playing the game. also i wouldn't mind having that extra 10 megs. lol
many thanks, sorry if this has been brought up, i did a search but there was too many results to sift thru.
Yes its possible to do it without an SD card...
Go to START -> SETTINGS
then choose the second tab (SYSTEM)
then click on MEMORY
now you can give more space to STORAGE area & reduce it for the PROGRAMS (which is the memory windows uses to run programs)
But be aware that windows will control this memory ratio automatically every few menutes...
i think i must have misphrased the question.
I already know how to adjust the memory settings, and i will get round to that to give more memory to storage, but first i need that 14Mb of memory that the windows and programfiles folders have already taken up. I want to be able to store that in the free backup ROM space, hence leaving all 128Mb of RAM free, which i can then divide into 110Mb storage and 14Mb program ram.
Ahh well, thats impossible!!!
Windows needs to be installed on the RAM, you can't change that ever!
I suggest you to buy an MMC card, its cheaper than SD cards..
Sorry if I didn't help!
no thanks thats exactly what i needed to know
looks like a wad of cash will need to be parted from my person soon lol
thanks again.
You welcome Ace.. I did nothing
If you are willing to buy MMC, consider this 2GB MMC with read speed about 150X (22.5MB/s) and write speed greater than 120X (18MB/s)! Its WOoOoOoOooOoOoOoOoW 8)

Memory & MMC Cards
Reading this post has made me wonder exactly what I've got on my XDA2. Windows is only 9MB? I don't seem to have as much space left on mine as it seems I should
I have:-
27MB in MyDocuments
28 MB in Programs (Calculated by adding up the program sizes listed in ActiveSync).
I don't have any Mutilmedia Messages on there, and i empty the Internet Explorer temporay files regularly, however, my xda2 still only reports that I have 40MB free. 126 - ( 27+28 ) - 9 (windows) = 62, not 40.
Is there any PC app that can link to the xda2 and find out exactly how big each folder is, or where all the space is going to?
Also, with the MMC card you posted, is there any particular ROM version needed for larger MMC Cards? I was wondering if there is any limitations on the size of card the xda2 can handle.
Come on guys!
Windows is not 9MB nor 14MB !!!!!!!
If the ROM image size is 32MB, so windows size would be something around that (~30 or 31 MB)!
My windows folder size (on my XDA I device) now is 69MB!
Try to navigate to Windows directory using Total Commander & then select all files inside it & choose Properties. It will give you the total size of the files.
The installation programs copy their system & common files to Windows folder everytime you install a program. Also the Database files are there inside, growing & growing. So this folder gets bigger & bigger over time...!
I guess that huge MMC doesn't need any special software to operate it. They've said that it works for all handheld & wireless devices..
Anyone knows from where to buy this mammoth MMC card?
Wait a min.... how come my windows folder size is 69MB and all what I have on my device is 64MB RAM ?????? :?
Seems Total Commander is faulty!!!!
what is being displayed as the size of the windows dir is BOTH
ram and rom
2Gb mmc is just insane. 1Gb ones retail for around £400 so i'd hate to think what you'd fork out for double that.
Yeah I guess so, but XDA supports 2GB memory cards, since I saw a program in handango.com which supports formating them
But sometimes you need huge space! my 256 MMC card is almost full, I need larger space
also it gets wiped every 1 or 2 weeks
damn Windows!!!!!
what do yo u mean by wiped? something causes it to lose all its data? or are you doing it purposely?
Yes the card got wiped by itself without any external interfer!!!!
Its a bug in Windows Mobile 2003!!!!!
the reason i asked is cus something like that just happened to me!!!
My card had all my data on it, then for no reason file explorer nor activesync would not let me view anything. Memory management showed data on card but i could not access it! Even storagetools had problems with the card. i had to hard reset my machine for it to work!
Are they planning to fix this?
No there's no need to hard reset your device!
Just format the SD card & it will work again!
I guess this bug will be fixed in Windows Mobile 2003 SE (well, i hope so  )
XDA2 memory
Hi Guys!
I have changed my XDA2 memory to give more to program memory since I have a MMC card. I dun seemed to see Windows switching back to the original ratio.
Also need your comments on some files like the MSGQueue_SMS which is eating into data storage. What are those files? Can they be in MMC card?
MSGQueue_SMS is an essential process for the SMS reception, and also cannot reside on storage card since it runs at startup!
I have the same problem regarding memory management! I just HARD RESET my device, and I gain back the free memory again :?

how can I add the 10 MB of Ext Rom to the memory

Dears,
I am looking for away to add my wasted 10MB from EXT ROM to the original memory. in other words, how can I increase my memory size to to maximum (by merging EXT ROM space with the memory).
I have a JAMin phone and I need your support.
Thanks Indeed,
Katouah, Abdulrahman .......
I don't think it concerns with Prophet Mobile 6 Forum
Plus, this is a great idea but I have never seen anyone do something like this with their Prophet

Hi it can be don but maybe not acacly make it work as memory but it's posable to make programs run totaly from the extrom. that mean they want use the real memory... and the registry can also be moves to the extrom so it wil store changes without loosing any settings upon unsuspected restart.
I am trying to understand this better so I can inplant this in a future rom of mine.

About Storage Memory?

how can we increase storage memory? i have only 1.25 mb and it sucks. i used many tools to clean memory but i did not get the result i expected...i use 6.1 pro.
Install a new rom without programs (clean) and put all programs on storage card
is there a clean rom for erofich's 6.1 pro??
No !!
this is my big problem with startrek !
erofich's pro rom is great ... but after installing it , you have about 9 MB of storage space .
so when you add some necessary apps to device ... the drama is begin !!!!!!!!
there is no clean version of this rom . however , with a clean rom you must install further applications and in the end ... the results is same !
best way : buying singular 8125 with 128 MB ram !!
but i love this phone
anyway, after installing a navigasion program with some other necessary programs like dictionary gprs counter, i got only 1 mb free space i wish there could be a solution but nothing to do thnx by the way...
maybe all your apps installed in memory phone ??
if you can forget the pro rom , you can use from Erofich's clean rom ( the lightest wm 6.1 rom )
after installing that , you must first install the .net 3.5 compact for installing other apps . but for me , after installing all my necessary programs , finally about 10 MB storage space is reserved ...
remember that you must all apps in staorage card
no, i never install apps in phone mem.
maybe i will give it a try thx...

[Q] Link2SD installed but still get Low Internal Memory??

New here so please tell me if this is in the wrong forum.
I have a Acer Liquid Metal on 2.3.6. I have a custom ROM T&L. It came preinstalled with Link2SD. I like to try lots of apps and this problem seems to be haunting me. I reset my phone on the 26th Dec as it was so annoying. I think I have set up Link2SD correctly. I have a 4gb SD with 1gb as ext2. Please see the screen shots attached.
If I have Link2SD, why do I still have a problem with low internal storage?? I have had to remove some app's but the internal storage always gets lower.
Have I set Link2SD up correctly? How can I resolve this problem?
If you need anything further please let me know.
Thanks,
Matt
I have the same problem
Same issue no one help me... even if i link all my apps still internal memory get low....
Even with Link2SD, a part of apps stay on the main RAM, I think there is no solution to that

Hey all of you are getting confuse, this is the solution and it was already mention but maybe you get confuse... Using link2sd...link all your apps as normal, probably after a couple installations you will get low memory, but how is that possible... well..
Just download ANDROID TERMINAL EMULATOR from Market and install it(you must be ROOTED to use it).
Now just TYPE in Terminal:
su
a2sd cachesdreset
After this your device will reboot and you will get a lot of space on your phone... probably link2sd should add this feature on new version but IF not this will works ( i believe that some info stay on phone and link2sd can't see it but phone will keep showing it even if that is garbage or already move to the 2nd partition on your phone just do does command and that is... after that you will love link2sd and will never go back or use app2sd....
Tested By Me... On my Galaxy Ace

I have the same problem. Is it solved???
Hi Guys,
I own Samsung Galaxy Y Duos S6102. Its internal storage is approximately 180Mb. I have rooted the phone and increased my storage to 1Gb using Link2SD.
Now, i have installed around 25 apps and i link them all using Create Link and checking on all 3 checkboxes. Still, my internal storage is getting low. Now i cannot install any apps as the internal storage has become less than 25Mb
When i see the storage info from Link2SD it shows 650Mb free out of the 1Gb partition that i created.
I tried the solution posted above but could not do it. If it helps please be more descriptive
Thank You

an easy way to gain at least 40 mb of internal storage on this phone:
open dialler, dial *#9900#
and then select 'copy to sd card'
results vary but it did help me to regain about 40 mb the first time i tried it
Use ram booster as well as delete all the cache and try to install mount2sd better than link to sd I hope it will help you

You need to install link2sd plus, which enables app and data files to be moved to sdcad

[Q] Low internal memory

Hi all,
I've just received my HTC desire x, checking the specs there is written
that the internal memory should be 4GB, but I have just 1GB.
the total space shows 1.09 GB (screenshot attached)
on the HTC website there's written
Total storage: 4 GB, available capacity varies*
and then *Available storage is less due to phone software.
Is it possible that the OS takes 3GB? Seems a bit too much for me...
Any idea?
Thanks all in advance

This is correct man. There is no issue or problem. The system takes ~3gb. Cos imagine when you are factory resetting your phone. The original OS file (called ROM) will reside in that memory with a whole lot of other backup stuff which you cant access.
This is why ppl use CUSTOM ROMS, cos we remove bloatware and other things.
What you see in that screenshot is same as mine and as other. Just buy an external card and it will rock
and please go to about > software update > PRESS CHECK NOW even though "Scheduled Check" is ticked cos there are updates and possibly u have one waiting also.

^ +1.
anyway i cant see why 1gb isnt enough for apps and games. if you have a sd card, it will be more than enough because of the ability to move apps to sd.

Thanks man all doubts vanished now,
does it mean that once rooted (I haven't seen any good rom around yet, please advise if you know any)
I can partition the internal memory? Or it's better not to partition anything for a smoother and faster phone?
Thanks again
Yes 4GB in these mount points:
dev - 303MB
cache - 251MB
data 1,1GB
internal memory (emmc) - 1,1GB
system/942MB
Plus a few more like radio boot and / mount point. It's up around 4GB.
i think you want this? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.buak.Link2SD
with that app. you will no longer have to worry about low internal storage again. i use that all the time on my previous phone who has low internal memory (400mb below). but with des x i dont need it. 1gb internal memory are a lot!

Is it possible to reformat partitions? Why not to have internal memory (emmc) - 1,1GB and system/942MB merged? I'm not using emmc, cuz I have SDCard for all my stuff, so 1,1 Gb are empty, but I have insufficient space on system.
