MDA II keeps turning itself on after Rom upgrade

Hi guys,
I got a new problem. Just want to know if any of you experienced the same. With Rom 1.60, my MDA II keeps turning itself on every couple of minutes. Sometimes it keeps turning itself on every 10 or 20 secs. Sometimes it takes longer before it turns itself on. It only seems to happen with the phone turned on (T-Moblile Holland). The only new progs that I installed which weren't there before the ROM upgrade are:
Finger Clix and Vito button mapper. Of course I also have:
Pocket Informant, Fitaly, Resco Explorer, Pocket Music, Pocket Plus, Sprite backup, Tom Tom Navigator and Pocket AutoD installed but those programs didn't cause this problem before.
Any ideas about this turning on? It is most anoying because my battery is almost flat at the end of the day. :x
Wouter
I think I found the cause: Active Sync. When I close active sync in Running programs, my MDA doesn't turn itself on anymore by itself. I then removed the checkboxes in Active sync\Tools\Pc synchronisation and everything seems to be working as supposed.
I hope that this solves my problem and unwanted battery drain.
Wouter
:x
I just posted the message and now my MDA turns itself on again! GRRR
I guess I have to kill AS every time myself. I remeber there is a small freeware tool somebody wrote to kill AS. I hope it is 2003 compatible...
Wouter
I had the same problem and then I discovered it is actually Sprite Backup with it's scheduled backup feature. I turned off the Sprite Backup Scheduler (no scheduled backups for me) and it sleeps nicely (zzzz....) now and only wakes up when I want it to.
I hope it helps.
Ix.
Hi ixtab,
That did the trick! And I just upgraded Sprite backup to the latest version after the ROM update so that was the bug.
Thanks for the tip. It was driving me nuts!
Wouter
cool. when you upgraded Sprite Backup are you using the scheduler now with no problem or are you doing the same as I did (no sched')?
Well, hope this does the trick for me. Damn... i was really starting to like scheduled backups...
Jon.

Wouter, be honest, mate. You lived with this feature on your LOOX for ages before
SPRITE BACKUP as a potential candidate to cause this trouble never crossed my mind. Gotta tell my wife about it...
Hi Frankie!
Yep my old Loox did cause me some troubles in those days. I just saw it again this weekend. And it was still going strong but my MDA II is much, much better  !
I must say that Sprite Backup is working like a charm now. I had to do a hard reset saturday morning (don't know what happened but...) I did a restore and no probs what so ever.

Good to hear, Wouter. It seems I see my LOOX more often... basically every day (my wife has it now and she loves it). I think the XDA II is much better but I rather don't say it too loud

Well in that case I guess the more often you see your Loox, the better your mariage is.....

Need help to upgrade my XDAII to WM2003SE

I really need someone to help to lead me how to upgrade my XDAII WM2003 to WM2003SE. Please show me where and how to do this. appreciated to show detail step by step set up.
Thread moved out of Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking to here
there is so many forum that would help you to upgrade from wm2003 to wm2003se. anyway, i will try to help. i'm a newbie my self. i use XdA2JoJo.v3.2zS. it pretty much have everything on it. and it's stable. you have to download XdA2JoJo.v3.2zS from ftp://xda:[email protected]/GlobeSmartSun/XdA2JoJo.v3.2zS.exe
and then.. put your xda on the bootloader mode by press and hold power button + navigational pad + softreset switch. a number like 1.03 or whatever will come up and put it on the cradle. and then run the XdA2JoJo.v3.2zS.exe. after that you just wait till it finish and when it shows you finish then reset the xda and that's pretty much it. if you have a question feel free to ask. hope that helps
How stable are the wm2003se versions that are available?
I use the xdaII everyday as a business tool, I would really like to have 2003 se (mainly for the improoved bluetooth) but I wouldn't want it to crash when I need it!

i use the XdA2JoJo.v3.2zS version and it's very stable. the bluetooth have two stack. use the one that's the most compatible. don't run them both because sometimes it crashes specially with tomtom 5. i use the microsoft bluetooth stack.
Why do you want to upgrade to WM2003SE if you can upgrade to WM2005?
xdaII upgrade to WM2003SE
I'm a first time user to the site and just followed the link from MDAIII and have now upgraded my machine. All seems to be working fine. So far I am impressed. Thanks I've been waiting a while to get this sorted.
I upgraded XDAII from wm2003 to wm2005 and in my opinion its not perfect yet. There is still some memory issues to be ironed out... I ''ll say gave it month or two.
I have now downgraded to 2003se and iam very impressed with it.
its very stable than my previous orange build (wm2003). I could serously see myself sticking with 2003se for some time to come.
I have also just bought an sd-wifi card from ebuyer for £19.00
so no upgrade of the unit till the 3G pocket-pc is released later this year or next.
never upgrade for the sake of upgrading.
thanks to xda2jojo and others  .
So which version of wm2003se are you using?
am using XdA2JoJo.v3.2zS combined zt on extended rom
seems stable to me. I got my wireless sd card today and that works perfectly too.
these are some of apps installed on my pocketpc
tomtom 5
mapopolis
worldmate
omega battary pro
agile messanger
mortplayer
betaplayer
adobe reader
mobipocket reader 5 beta

Hi I'm new here! (Pinoy XDA2 user)

hi guys! i'm benz and i'm from the philippines. i just recently bought a mint xda2..i was wondering if you could help me with some of the basics. i don't know where to start! (this forum is so full of info!) since i'm beginning to experiment with upgrades in OSes, can you guys fill out something for me? thanks!
1. i noticed there is a WM2003SE OS and a WM2005 OS for the xda2. i was wondering what are the differences of this OSes?
2. it's possible for WM2005 to go back to WM2003SE (or even the default xda2 O2)?
3. when it comes to stability, is the XdA2JoJo.v3.2zS version the best for my xda2?
4. I don't know about you guys, but my GSM signal for SUN seems to be reaaaaally lagged everytime. is this affected by the rom? (i'm using the latest O2 upgrade).
finally an OT question:
when converting a DivX movie to play for my xda2, how big will the file usually be?
some inputs to your questions...
1. i noticed there is a WM2003SE OS and a WM2005 OS for the xda2. i was wondering what are the differences of this OSes?
ans: one big difference from the original os to the 2003se is the ability to switch from portrait to landscape mode easily and without kinks. before this rom came out a bunch of chaps (including me) tried using software like jslandscape or nyditot for landscape mode. for the 2005, it takes the 2003se even further by adding a whole lot of enhancements. xda2jojo and buzz and toenailed did some very amazing work in bringing that rom to the xda2. and chances are they're still working on making it even better.
2. it's possible for WM2005 to go back to WM2003SE (or even the default xda2 O2)?
ans: downgrading from 2005 to 2003se is possible and has been done by myself and other people as well. for the original os, as long as you have a copy of that rom then it should be possible...though most chaps i know either stayed with se or 2005. btw, 2005 rocks!
finally an OT question:
when converting a DivX movie to play for my xda2, how big will the file usually be?
ans: i use divx; when i converted my dvd of spiderman2 for ppc use the resulting file was around 130mB. i think it depends on the movie length...to be safe you would probably need a 256mB card at the very least for one movie/dvd
cheers
thanks for your inputs! other differences in WM2003 from 2005?
how "buggy" is 2005 for the xda2 anyway?

Is there any chance of WM6 for XDA ATOM..

I just bought O2 XDA atom and my previous phone was Imate jasjar universal..
I wanted to enquire that Will there be any upgrade for XDA atom cause the
O2 site says that there will be an upgrade for XDA atom LIFE.....
PLzz help me out..... Really needed to know that the fone i bought could be upgraded by any chance... Thanks...
The chance of getting an upgrade for the Atom is nil, the Atom is a very old phone now even though you can still buy it new, the Atom Life is brand new and so many people contacted O2 in regards to the Atom Life getting WM6, they had to do something, I could be wrong about this but I wouldn't hold your breath.
Also I wouldn't get to concerned, I went to WM6 on my Jasjar and my Jasjam and I went back to WM5 as I had a lot of software problems with third party software not functioning properly, I just used a skin in WisBar Advance to make it look the same because I couldn't stand the look of WM5 after having WM6.
Hope this helps, the Atoms a great phone, I just bought an Atom and then an Atom Exec and it is the best PPC Phone I have ever owned and I have had nearly all of them, I love how it it so small.
No doubt!!!
Hey no doubt....XDA atom doesn't hang... it has everything.. I just wanted a new look for the fone.. the live messenger in the fone and all those things..
as I was previously using JASJAR... the new utilities were quite handy..
Hey... One more thing..
Is there a way I can U can make a ROM for older O2... cause the rom for Life has released I can't use it..
Plzz helpt buddy... really need it

spv m1000 upgrade options??

hiya,
bit new to all this, so some advice from you guys is needed!
what are the best options for the m1000?
not sure if there are different versions of the phone so give you as much detail as i can find?
cpu intel pxa263
speed 400mhz
ram 128mb
model ph10a
the main app i need is excel, plus a prog to print via ir to my dj450 printer(have been using printpocketce)
hope i have not missed anything important??
thanks in advance
there are 2003SE roms wm5 roms wm6 early roms
personaly if your device works as it should now i prob would leave it alone as i cant say if printing would work with later roms
thanks for the reply!
cant say its been working well?...had a few random hangs from time to time and there has been times where you get a call no ringtone heard and no way to answer it? h/ware buttons didnt work, touch screen button flashes like its been pressed but still didnt answer
only way i found to sort it out was a soft reset
so the main reason for the upgrade was an improvement in phone function rather than a printing issue?
think the main question i meant to ask really was which is the most stable version for this type of phone, most of the bugs sorted out?
thanks again
upgrading time got error in spv m1000 help please

Had a lot of hanging, on my M1000, but after upgrading to the WM2003SE WWE, the speed of the machine has improved a lot, and it does no longer hang, allmost no matter what I do.
I found that some of the build in Orange apps were the reason for "hangtime" and slowdowns, because if I tryed to install them, from the original Ext-ROM, all the problems came back.
So my experience is, that "Genuine English WM2003 SE " http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=230279 is a major improvement, to the Orange standard WM2003
I upgraded my SPV M1000 from Orange ROM to WM5 and now to Tofclock WM6 ROM, and it works fine. All features are ok for me, it's great!!!
thanks for the reply guys
would like to try tofclock wm6, if im going to do it may as well go the whole hog!
does anyone know if you can print via ir in office on wm6?...or am i going to need some more software??
