Hey folks. Got four of these for some of our MDAIIIs last week...
Problem is, when I attach them to the device, and plug in the charger, it powers up to the intro screen (one with the click in all four corners, cut/paste etc), you go through this and then it resets again. it has been looping like this for a while..
Anyone any ideas?!?
sorry folks, was MDAIII not MDAIIIe before I confuse everyone.
Little more information I left out from the first post, rather than try and charge the battery independtly in the cradle I have it attached to the device and plugged into a mains charger, as this is what a few posts have said about charging it on the device, something to do with the battery rom?
Seems I have this thread all to myself! lol. Well I shall answer it, I tried one of the other batteries and it works fine, seems the first I tried was DOA :/
Just wondered where you got the battery from? How much and do you get significantly more life?
Cheers
John

I was flashing a new rom. And after it said 100% on the phone it turned black and never lit up again. I waited i didnt pull out the usb. 15 min later i checked it again still black. i pulled the usb out. hit the power button and nothing happend. i did a hard reset and still the phone wount power on. The phone's charging led light wount even come on when i plug it up. So i assume i have bricked me phone ?
I have HSPL3
miri19v
froyostone 3.1v
is there any way to bring it back to life or do i toss it in the trash?
thanks for the help
i have also tried to go into boot loader and NIL!
from your use of the word 'trash' can i assume you have a tmous hd2? if so, what did you flash? was it a non tmous stock rom (meaning a bad radio)?
(oh, first job tho, check for bent battery pins)
the pins are fine. yeah i was actually flashing a stock tmou rom.
got the full filename for the rom you downloaded please? (just checking you havent downloaded a t mobile rom that isnt tmous)
the reason im pushing that line of enquiry is that the symptoms you describe are consistent with either
wrong radio (from the wrong stock rom)
bent battery pin
over discharged battery
to test the over discharged battery you can take it out, plug usb in with wall charger, then put battery in. this lets it charge without trying to turn on the phone. the light may not come one for some time, so leave it a good hour or two.
Hey Sam,
I'm having this issue too. I am relatively positive it's from an over-discharged battery. The phone conked out a few nights ago, and later when trying to charge it I got nothing - until yanking the battery for a bit, plugging in the charger, then popping in the battery. Now, every time the battery drains I have to do this.
Is the battery "damaged" now, or do you have any suggestions to fix the prob? I see this posted a bit but no one has any solutions that I've found.
Thanks!
Ryan
well i know the principals of these batteries, but not really the mechanics, so yes id guess the battery is defective, (but it could be the phones internal battery control circuits too, again just guessing) but no i dont know if there is a cure, other than try another battery, and if it cures it, ok, but if not then it would be a warranty issue.
are you using android? cos from what ive read it discharges quickly under android or something? (never used it so cant tell)
I've had the the G-Tab for about two months and in the last two weeks when I plug it in to charge the unit it will not always charge. The light will come on but the battery icon will not show charging or the light will not come on at all and I must orientate the tip so it is at about a 45 degree angle to the back. I called tech support and they said its my fault that I have obviously been jamming the tip in too hard...sorry out of luck. Like most of you I have several laptops/netbooks and other electronics that use this type of power connectors and know not to force things Is anyone else experiencing this? Or did I just get a bad unit. Thanks
TheMcallan,
I have a charging problem, actually I cannot charge Gtab at all. I have been charging it as I would just like the other phones or something else. It is about a month old.
jeffkck
jeffkck,
Thanks for the response, have you contacted ViewSonic support?
Have the exact same problem. I just noticed it over the last few days. I bought mine about a month ago from the first woot deal. I tried a different power cord with the same results. I was going to contact costumer support about it. The plug is so finicky now, I'm afraid it will get to the point where I can't find that sweet spot to charge it. Let me know what you guys find.
I've had a similar issue with mine just last week. Mine was also from the first Woot offer. I think what is happening is that it gets stuck in sleep mode and can't get out. (since I had shoved mine into a bag without turning it off and then checked it about a week later finding out I couldn't get it to work. I fixed mine quite by accident. I had been plugging and unplugging it, turning it on and off (and it would sometimes turn on for a brief moment and then turn off) I then just left it plugged in for an hour or so and lo and behold, it worked!
Same problem here! my gtab was one of the earlier versions bought the day of release
Try charging it with the dock that goes with the malata zpad and g tablet. It connects through the HDMI port on the bottom and you plug the charger into the dock so that may help. Picture: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYbk__uK2Y8 they pretty much sell them all over the internet. Hope it works
You need to contact viewsonic and get them to repair it. Don't keep trying to find that "sweet spot". It will only get worse. Or you could solder if you know how.
So, my phone's got the standard stock rom, I rooted it, but never flashed it, it has always worked great and hasn't given me any trouble until last night.
I got back from a trip inside my country where it worked great. Then it started running low on battery and shut down.
I went to a friend's house and he had this black berry charger. I pluged it to my phone to charge it and when I tried to turn it on it went on to the "Samsung Galaxy S 2" black and white screen, and started looping on it.
The only "new" "rare" or out of the ordinary thing to it was I had plugged the phone to a blutooth ear piece I bought the day before.
Any ideas?
Has anyone had this same situation?
I looked in the forum, but it seems every loop problem comes out of flashing new roms.
Thanks in advance.
It's possible it could be a battery problem. There have been several threads of boot problems with a fully discharged battery. Sometimes the phone itself can not recharge the battery, and the fix is to use a fully charged other battery, or maybe to buy an external charger for the battery. Not sure if the blackberry charger would have caused a problem. As long as it's a micro usb charger I would think it would be ok.
I have never had a problem like this myself, just reporting some things I have read other people say.
It's likely the voltage is different enough to make the phone unhappy. Can you plug into a PC instead if you don't have access to a "real" charger? It will take forever to charge, but I'll bet it takes care of the boot issue...
Hey guys! I'm needing some advice/tips.
I've had my g tablet for about a year and lately it really has started acting up. The power reading on the tablet was either like 100% or dying. Last week it just crashed when loading even though I had charged it. I figured the battery was bad and bought a replacement on Ebay, The power socket had been loose for awhile and the whole thing actually fell out of the tablet when I took it apart. I had the socket soldered by a local guy at radio shack since I have no experience soldering. I replaced the battery with no problem and now the tablet will not charge. I can not tell if the new battery I bought is defective or just need a full charge since it seems my tablet won't charge with either battery installed. The connections from the power socket to the motherboard look good, but I'm wondering if the repair man could have messed up the soldering. When I put the original battery in, the tablet will boot up for a bit and then die, but I get nothing from the new battery. I left the new battery in and plugged in the charger thinking maybe the indicator light had gone bad, but that didn't make a difference. I just wondered if anyone had some suggestions for me. (I've been taking apart and repairing my own electronics for years now, so I am confident no damage occurred while I have been tinkering). Any ideas are much appreciated! Thanks!
See this thread. If you can boot into the ROM or ClockworkMod, then you can use the awk script I've written to find out what your battery is doing--charging, discharging, full, RSOC, etc.
Dug out my trusty Z3TC 16GB WiFi to browse the web and its dead and refuses to charge on 4+ different chargers. Won't respond to power+vol up or show any activity.
Software was fine when I last checked, running CM12.1 and no issues.
Anyone see a similar issue and know if the battery is likely to have failed or something more fundamental?
I'm ordering a pogo pin charger to see if that works, had a couple in the past but the connecting wires in the stand broke.

Happened to me. Try this: NEVER LET IT GO FULLY DEAD

Yup, saw that thread. Looks like I'm out of luck as I certainly can't resolder any of the components.
did u try with a quick charger?
Peace to all
I've tried most chargers and I have a lot of them, including original chargers for Z3 and Z4. Even trickling on a slow charger should recharge after 24 hours but nothing.
Wish I'd remembered to keep it charged, can't even get a bootloader up.
Try this??
Press the volume up button and power button together for 10 seconds. This should cause your device to vibrate 3 times and then show the battery charging screen.
Nope, I've tried all of these already. Probably need to open it.
weird dude.as far I know,li-on batteries need to fully discharged once in 30 charges.I made it once (it closed from battery) but nothing weird happened to me.I am always on KK 4.4.4
or u can try press the tiny reset button near to usb port.here says that nothing is being erased.

Good news! Thanks to everyone here who convinced me to persevere and not sell this tablet as broken!
For 4 days I have been charging the tablet and trying power+vol button combinations a couple of times each day and finally, on day 4, I was able to first get a red led. After the led went out about 10 mins later I tried vol+power again and got the emergency battery graphic plus red led. Led went out after ten mins again and had to use vol+power. Seemed to go a bit strange at that point and charging halted. Swapped chargers and waited.
Next time was the trick, got red led, it went out and I was able to get the normal, smaller charging graphic. Let it get a couple of % for safety and hit power, resulting in a full boot. Tablet is booted at 4% and charging OK.
Thanks to everyone that helped out.
glad to hear!so can u tell us the working process so just us to know just in case?....

Exactly as per above, keep repeating the power & vol- sequence and putting on charger for a few hours. Exact brand of charger doesn't seems to matter, the one it worked on was a no-name two-socket UK plug charger from Amazon. Obviously a 2A+ charger will help. The cable used was a generic Samsung 1m (3ft) lead.
Just repeat the process and leave it on the charger in between. I'd recommend not charging a unit like this unattended in case the battery is damaged and there's a battery failure, I've seen a lipo fire and they're ugly.
Thanks dude!enjoy the best tablet! ?
Peace to all
Dude glad you got it working. I love mine but i have it rooted. hoping that the latest stamina battery return update is rootable
