Hello everyone, I am just asking if it is possible to flash different splash screen on Titan? First screen you see like VZW xv6800 say VERIZON on white background before animated gif startup begin (VZW_Startup.gif) so.. can I change the VERIZON? Thanks!
Hiromitsu
Look on in your \windows dir on your PPC for any .png & gif files that look like the ones that initiate when your phone starts. For the Sprint Mogul & Alltel PC6800, one of the spash screens is called welcomehead.96.png on both.
Once you find the stock .png & gif files on \windows, rename any custom animated pic after the .gif file and do the same for a .png pic. Then copy into \windows using Total Commander, etc and overwrite. Also make sure that they are the same 320x240 size.
So lets say on your VX6800 that you have a splash screen called VZW_6800.96.png in your \windows dir thats starts up with your phone now... You would:
1. Load, edit and rename YOUR 320x240 custom pic VZW_6800.96.png using Paint on your PC.
2. Paste pic into a folder somewhere on your device that you can access.
3. Using Total Commander, Copy this pic into \windows and a screen asking you to overwrite will popup. Click yes.
4. Done.
Do the same for a .gif.
1. Load, edit and then name YOUR 320x240 custom .gif, VZW_Startup.gif on your PC.
2. Paste .gif into a folder somewhere on your device that you can access.
3. Using Total Commander, Copy this pic into \windows and a screen asking you to overwrite will popup. Click yes.
4. Done.
welcomehead.96.png does exist on the XV6800. It is not the verizon splash though. That is the WM splash screen.
Yes, VZW splash is load from ROM so need cook in kitchen for this one. I just want know how to change this only. I already change animate GIF and WM screen.

I didnt know if it existed or not; I was using it as a reference for what to look for and how to go about accomplishing it. I hear Verizon & Sprint have animated startups whereas the Alltel 6800 does not. But we do have the welcomehead.96.png. I do not believe that you must cook a new rom to make these changes...
I have explain this plainly already,,
for VZW Titan XV6800....
There 3 startup splash,,
In ROM:
1.) Solid white screen not moving VZW logo. (15 sec)
In device:
2.) Animate VZW logo -> VZW_Startup.gif (10 sec)
3.) WM Startup wallpaper -> welcomehead.96.png (Varies)
If I install other carrier ROM,, first still image (VZW) is VZW... even though change carrier ROM... so its burn in boot code.....
these images will be available when verizon releases a rom update. the current verizon rom available was dumped from a running xv6800 and does not include the images you want, which are mainsplash.nb and subsplash.nb. these are separate from os.nb, all are contained in the nbh you flash. the dumped verizon rom available only included os.nb
dcd,,
Can I replace mainsplash.nb and subsplash.nb now?
If I make my own splash nb file I can already flash it?
Thanks

I've just managed to ahem, persuade Orange UK to sim unlock my Niki 12 weeks early.
The next thing I'd like to do is replace the orange boot splash screen to one of my own.
Maybe with one of R'kids stunning paintings http://www.artworkbysteve.co.uk/
Do I first need to CID unlock my Niki to do this?
Is there any software that is capable of doing this without bricking my phone?
I've done this previously with my wizard, but I'm still a little unsteady on my feet,
I need clear easy to follow step by step newbie instructions if anybody has the time.
Any help greatly appreciated,
Cheers.

To change the actual boot splash which contains the operator logo and ROM info text you need to flash it! the TD (Niki) has 4 splash screen as follows:
1-Primary Splash (Operator Logo)
2-Secondary Splash again operator logo with the ROM Protocol info at the bottom of screen in red.
3-Splash Gif animation
4-Splash Welcomehead i.e. WM6 splash you get before Today loads.
Splash 3 and 4 can easily be changed as mentioned here. I think what you need is to change Splash 1 and 2 if you want to get rid of the Orange logo however this can only be done through flashing (via customRUU) so you must make sure your TD has HardSPL otherwise you will end up bricking the device if you haven't check this thread:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355730
At the moment I can only change the 1st Splash but can't seem to change the 2nd splash once I can figure out how, I will post the necessary files here
Here is a thread that shows how change your PrimarySplash screen. You do need to flash it, but its not that hard to do.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=361287
second one is easy to change. Just rename any .png picture to welcomehead.96.png and put in Windows folder on phone, replacing the one that's there. Then soft reset.
Thanks
Cheers fellas, I appreciate your help.
odd problem with Welcomehead 96
Tried overwriting the welcomehead.96 file but it can't be overwritten,
checked the properties of the file and all the options (read only etc) are greyed out?
Copied the file to my hard drive and it cannot be seen, even when I have the show hidden files folder option checked?
I'd hazard a guess that the PNG file is hard coded to the memory chip? so a Rom flash may be needed?
But I still can't work out why the copied PNG on my hard drive would behave the way it is,
maybe just having a thick attack.
I haven't come across this before, can anyone shed some light on it?

You can't overwrite files in the windows folder with the built in file explorer use Resco File Explorer or download freeware Total Commander from here: http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm
Thanks
Cheers gfreek,
I overwrote welcomehead 96 as recommended with Total Commander.
Thanks for your assistance, it's appreciated.

Here's how I changed both the 1st & 2nd Splash screens on my Wife's Touch Dual:
First create two splash screens (.i.e. PrimarySplash.nb & SecondarySplash.nb) using the methods & tools mentioned in PDAViet site.
1. Use Dark Simpson HTC ROM Tool
2. Select 'Hermes' as device
3. Fill in 'NIKI***' as Model ID (Instead of 'HERM***')
4. Select your Primary & Secondary Splash
5. Create the NBH file
6. Flash with the Touch Dual CustomRUU extracted from Niki Project's ROM.
Cheers!

I can't understand why??? am I missing something? all the splash I've used are QVGA 240x320 so they are the correct size!!

Update***SOLVED*** Once again thanks [email protected] for pointing me in the right direction however, to create the two splash (.i.e. PrimarySplash.nb & SecondarySplash.nb) using the methods & tools mentioned in PDAViet site and here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=361287 is "NOT COMPATIBLE WITH NIKI" hence the reason I ended up getting corrupted splash screens (see the images in my last post)
The Correct Procedure is as Follows:
1. Make sure you have HardSPL installed if not get it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355730
2. Create a BMP file in paint, size must be 240x320, save it as BMP 24bit.
3. Get SplashTool from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334904
4. Load your BMP on nb_image_converter (included in SplashTool's zip) and save it as PrimarySplash do the same load another BMP and this time save as SecondarySplash
5. Open SplashTool.exe and convert both PrimarySplash.nb and SecondarySplash.nb to new format.
6. Use Dark Simpson HTC ROM Tool get it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311909
7. Select 'Hermes' as device
8. Fill in 'NIKI***' as Model ID (Instead of 'HERM***')
9. Select your Primary & Secondary Splash
10. Create the NBH file
11. Flash with the Touch Dual CustomRUU get it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=356259
Enjoy your new splash screen

P.S. For those of you who are getting the vista "COMDLG32.OSX" error when trying to run madkat's NB image converter download and install the attached file and re-run the convertor should work

Kudos to you tom!! sorry if I double posted in any case I think yours is a much simpler neater method then the one I've posted here

Un Saludo.
How to flash your device for changing splash screen won't hard-reset your device. But you should still make a backup .
i. Create the wallpaper 480x640
Advice : when the Raphael starts, you can see 3 red lines (R, G, D number versions) : the 100 low pixel are black, whatever your wallpaper... that's why, I suppose, every splash screen I saw are always black
And you should take care of that (just use the 540 high pixel, and leave the 100 low black)
ii. If not already done, convert the image to a .bmp (just use paint and save as a 24 bit bmp)
iii. Run rsbbmp.exe, the RSB<->BMP converter, to convert your .bmp to a .rsb
Just clic on "Add files", select your .bmp files, and then, "convert all"
This will create a .rsb file in the same folder as your .bmp file
iv. Run Splash-RSB Converter.exe, the RSB<->NB converter.
Choose the VGA option. This will create a .nb file in the same folder as your .rsb file
v. run NBHutil.exe, the NB<->NBH converter (the NBHUtil.xml file have to be in the same folder as NBHUtil.exe).
On first tab "Build NBH", in the "Target Device" list, choose "Raphael" (at the end of the list).
Then, on the right on the windows, you'll have the "NBH Items". Clic on the "..." button of splash item. An "Open" windows pops up : select the .nb file that you just created. Finally, clic on button "Build NBH!"
This will create a .nbh file (in the location that you choose).
vi. Copy/paste this file in the same folder as RaphaelCustomRUU.exe, run it & follow instructions as usual for a flash of your Raphael.
vii. Enjoy
I'm also curious on a how-to
Yes please, I would like to take off the t-mobile boot screen.
Hi guys found this hope it can work for the pro also will try it myself and let you know if it does.
Cook your splash screen
The problem is we dont know yet the correct address for Touch Pro splash screen to convert to nbh. And I think if u want to try, better try Diamond Splash tool & not this one.
Splash
Diamond splash tools, able to convert to nbh but when when u flash to Touch Pro, promth message " wrong device ID"

The device ID in diamond is DIAM*** but in raphael es RAPH***
So take care when you create the NBH file using htcrt or NBHGen. The NB splash from Diamond is valid.

HI ,
I want to change the boot splash screen on my Eken W70 Tabout ablet.i did some research but im relly confused .
it has ics 4.0.3
I tried searching for the bootanimation file in system/media but it does not exist ..also tried adding my custom bootanimation file to the location but it did not work..
Please help ..
thanx
Splash screens are in phone's internal memory chip, you can change it if your device is fully unlocked or can flash to the nand. Bootanimation is found in system/customize/resource
Try downloading rom toolbox
It has the option to change boot animation.
...this will help
Yes..my device is rooted..and i tired rom toolbox..that doesnt work..if im not mistaken rom toolbox saves the file to "system/media" which is not the location for my device..i dont know the location for my device..still need to find that out.
i dont have any folder called customise in system..any other location were is could be stored?
ok i found out that there are 2 files..boot splash image and boot animation..the boot splash image is stored in "mnt / local " & " system / wmtapp / bootanimation " and the boot animation is stored in "mnt / local " & " system / bin " ..Problem is the boot image doesnt have an extension . how do i edit it.it is a 23kb file .i tried making it a zip .after that wen i extract it shows corrupt file ..So how do i edit this image . Thanx in advance

Don't know what do you mean by "splashscreen changer" but if you are talking about WP7.X - Splash screen consists of specially compressed bmp file in XIP - oemlogo.bm_ and the same but not compressed file in OEM - mo_logo.bmp, Also it's possible to use third file - also regular bmp called mologo.bmp. Changing regular bmp is easy - just to copy them to \Windows of your phone. Compressed bmp should be cooked in. If you change only uncompressed files - you get first stock bootlogo, than custom one on boot - this sucks.
Loading screen is a png resource inside shellFrame.dll. If you want to change it - the correct way is to create custom mui - shellFrame.dll.XXXX.mui (XXXX - your default booting lang) with only modified windowsphone logo and copy it into \Windows of your phone.
Reboot is required to see your attempts working.

I told you - it's in XIP. That means - it should be cooked in while building the rom image. Do you know how to cook custom roms? If not - than it's nothing to discuss - you won't be able to change logo completely. Only the second part of it's appearance.

It's in Windows folder of the phone and it's hidden. You will hardly be able to copy it even if you see it.
So - you should get this file from ready-to-cook build uploaded in developer's thread and modify it with any resource editor.
