Hi all
Is it possible this upgrade?
I have ( bought from ebay ) a qtek 2020, in german :
rom 1.66.01 GER
radio 1.10.00
it has wm 2003 with vodaphone software.
I tried to use my phone card ( movistar, spain ) and it works ok ( so it is supposed to be unlocked)
I need to upgrade to a new os in english ( i dont understand dutch ) it doesnt matter wich version ( 2003 SE would be ok)
so i want to change, os version + language+ new operator, can it be problematic? what could be the easyest/safe way?
thanks in advance.

Go to the Wiki site for the upgrade. Follow Sin's instructions and modify where needed ... particularly for the country ID and carrier:

T-mobile Germany offers an update for their MDAII modells on their homepage:
http://www.t-mobile.de/downloads/1,1953,7483-_,00.html
Good for all, who own a MDAII, not an XDAII like me. :x
According to their homepage it fixes the following problems: (translated into English):
Optimisation of data rates on sending files vie GPRS
serial Bluetooth profile
Optimisation of sending SMS to divers contacts
Improved video-streaming
MSN messenger security update
New ROM 1.60.07
Has anyone tried this? Since it is the official T-Mobile ROM update to the MDA2 that most of us have, should it work better? I am also really curious if it fixes the GPRS logging off problem introduced by the first ROM update.
Any comments?

english or German ROM ???
It is an english or a German ROM ???
This is a German Upgrade.
I wanted to try upgrading my XDA I having ROM-Version 4.01 on it - the Upgrade File says "there has been a problem - soft reset your device and try again" for almost 5 times now. Is there no way of doing that?
I have noticed that the nk.nbf has a different size than the usuall one in the RUUv2.04b_CEv4.01.00wwe_VS_Ozone_Test_(Integrate_Radio_6.24.01) for example.
Can anyone help, please?

This is an update for the mda2 not the mda! :?
Sounds like the German MDAII ROM update 1.60.07 has the Bluetooth COM port fix, but the Carrier Devices update version 1.52.00WWE also released recently does not.
I set up the new T-Mobile ROM 1.60.07 to load on my I-Mate, but it showed that the CE version and RS version were the same as on the 1.60 ROM which I previously installed. The only difference was in the extended ROM which was newer (and I assume German T-Mobile specific). Can anyone verify if the CE version is actually updated in this German ROM or just the T-Mobile icustomization layer. If only the later, is there anything in there worth a look?

Can you tell us please if this official German upgrade is in German or in English?
Yo BarnOwl (and others),
It's German. I have been testing both the unofficial English one and the official German one. Both have OS revision 1.60.00 and Radio Stack 1.06.1. The only difference is the Extended Rom version, 1.60.06 for the English one and 1.60.07 for the German one. Only a marginal difference in the provider settings, nothing more.
Same goes for the leaked Dangaard Qtek version. Again OS revision 1.60.00 and Radio Stack 1.06.1, only the Extended Rom is version 1.06.21, but again, mainly Qtek OEM specific stuff. Not worth the fuss, and due to the (still unsolvable) Country ID errors mainly internesting for QTek owners.

Upgrading XDA II to QTEK 1.66WWE
This is my first post I bought a XDA II (PH10B) from UK and use it in Portugal, the ROM version is 1.03.00 USA dated 09/24/03, radio version 1.05.12 and the protocol version is 1337.12 .
My "problem" (if it really is one) is that the phone when booting installs some applications from UK's O2 operator and the boot image is the one from O2. Here in Portugal the brand name for this product is the QTEK 2020 and that is the reason I went to the QTEK's site to get the update for the ROM.
I was ondering if someone else already tryed to use a QTEK's ROM in a XDAII, and if it as any problems.
Thanks
OK, Thanks,
It worked
now I have:
ROM: 1.66.00wwe
dated 02/20/04
radio: 1.10.00
Protocol: 1337.18
ExtRom: 1.66.130
thanks
Has anyone tried out the new german MDAII T-Mobile BB ROM update ?
http://www.t-mobile.de/business/blackberry/software/1,7968,11445-_,00.html
What ROM, Radio, etc. versions are included in the update ?
Is it possible to upgrade a Qtek2020 WWE with the german ROM update just by changing the operator ID and language ID within the nbf files ?
Thanks for your Help!
Best Regards
A.

I tried to upgrade my Qtek2020 with T-Mobile ROM and after changing operator ID, it works really fine.
Ciao
Andreas
using the BB update ...
Hi Andreas,
but you have a GER version of the QTek 2020 – dont you ?
If not - did you also change the language ID?
Which version of the ROM and Radio, etc. does your device show now – after the upgrade?
Do you use your QTek as a BB client or not?
C.
What Rom Version

Hello,

ROM-Date - 12/03/03
Radio-Version - 1.06.01
Protocol-Version - 1337.16
ExtROM-Version - 1.60.08
ROM Chip - 28F128K3
Model number - PH10A

Basically I want to reflash it to the latest suitable ENGLISH Windows 2003 SE ROM. I tought that I could reflash it without learning how to use the complex upgrade tools just by downloading O2 WWE 1.72 update, but when I ran it it complained that there is a country ID error and did nothing.
So I need an advice on:
1) Which Windows, Radio and Extended ROM is should use in my situation (Coutry: Russia, Operator: BEE LINE)
2) What tools would I need to back everything up?
I used OSImageTool.exe, but when I try to load the resulting 32 Mb file with Windows Mobile 2003 ROM Editor it asked me a password (which of course I don't know) and didn't open it.
Please point me out to the relevant threads with correct ROM download links and upgrade instructions for those ROMs.
Thanks in advance,
--Yury.
Well, it seems that I figured out how to do it. I downloaded the package from:
http://www.my-xda.com/xda2.html
Then I copied the files apart and edited the ROM with the ROM editor for it to think that it's T-Mobile German ROM. It didn't give me any errors and upgraded without any problems. Yay!
Thanks guys for your excellent utilities.
I have read all the posts in regards to upgrading but I still need to make a clarification. Will the above upgrade which I have downloaded from http://buzzdev.net work for i-mate PE with the following specs:
ROM 1.72.00WWE
Radio: 1.14.00
ExtROM: 1.72.800
No impact on local telecom provider or with the fact that the device is i-mate and not xda?
Is [1].65b.96WWE the latest version?
yes , this will works fine , but , upgrade too your radio to 1.17 ...
1.65b is the latest u^grade , but some bugs are found ... if you wait few weeks ... maybe days , 1.70a will be released ...
