But cannot...
Still can't charge a spare battery. Wonder why they aren't making one that can charge a spare battery espcially when battery power is such an issue with this phone!
Still no spare battery charger:

Here's another source for the horizontal cradle:

Anyone have any experience with this or the vertical one? Pros, cons?

Vertical cradle
I just purchased a vertical cradle from an outfit in the UK (Hamill Dist.) but haven't received it yet. I based my decision on a favorable report from HTC Wizard Web (http://www.htcwizardweb.net/node/510). The Ebay unit looks identical, and I figured it wasn't rocket science and basically a plastic holder with USB connector at the bottom.
I'll report back when I receive it and test it out.

I bought
the boxwave vertical cradle and have been using it for a couple of weeks. Not a bad design, but could be better. Needs a spare battery slot. Also, the mini-usb connector is sort of long and you have to be carefull when putting the phone in and out of the dock. I'm afraid I might break it off in the phone at some point. Nothing like that has happened yet, but it just doesn't feel bullet proof.
I'm using an old Rolodex card holder with my sync cable as a horizontal cradle...works absolutely great! The 8125 happens to be a near-perfect fit when oriented horizontally. Pulled it our of my office's back room right before it was going in the trash...
http://www.arsmar.com/emporium/IMG/c07a-Rolodex-2.jpg
I am using the Boxwave one. Here are my thoughts:
1) I also am using the FlexiSkin. The 8125 does fit with the skin on, but you have to remove the cradles clear plastic support piece (or just leave it off to begin with).
2) Connection - the power part charges easily, but the sync part takes a little more wiggling/time to work than I am used to with the OEM USB cable. I am not sure if it is because of the FlexSkin, the cradle or what...I'll test it out.
3) Design. It is light, and you have to operate with 2 hands to put on and remove. My sync cradle for my old Casio E125 had this lift button to remove the device easily, and I wish this did.
4) Bottom is covered. If you plan ahead, no biggy. I just keep a spare stylus by the cradle because I kept forgetting to remove it before syncing. You may also want to have your bluetooth headset ready, because answering the phone is a little awkward (whether removing the device, or using speakerphone). No way to use a wired set - the plug is covered.

Just the chargers. It comes with a usb cable to attach it to the computer and a normal american outlet charger. If you buy them off of ebay I remember seeing one that comes with a battery. I dont trust the battery that it comes with though I rather just spend the extra cash and be sure of the quality of the battery. Hope this helped
Peraltah,
Thanks for the info. I did order one and I think from what I read one 1100 mah non OEM battery comes with it, will see when it comes to me. See the link below in the product features.

But it doesnt have the spare battery charger
that would have been a nice addition.
I've just got an ok one from ebay, it doesn't have room for spare battery unfortunatly, but comes with built in usb cable and also a charger so you can have both plugged in, so when pc is on it will charge through usb and when off will charge from mains,

zc57 2X Battery+Charger For HTC Wizard 838 100 200
so,
i was readin gon the forum that its not a good idea to use the usb charger as it does not fully charge the phone.
now, i was looking on eBay for a charger and they have crazy deals like $.99 for a wall charger & car charger w. $3 shipping.. ($4, NOT BAD!!!) but, they seem to be the mini-usb tipped ones which would indicate slow-trickle charging right?
i am looking for something that i can have in my car and possibly office to charge my phone quickly and "the right way"...
please let me know what good experiences you have...
btw, i am also trying to keep it on the thrifty side.. so i cant throw around $30 per item....
thanks,

This is what I had ordered for my 8525...

although, this is what they sent me instead...

Not what I wanted because of the large footprint this style leaves... but it still works the same and gets the job done quickly.
both come with wall chargers for the unit (and also a USB cable so you could plug it in to the computer if you choose that way instead)
Hi
I have noticed that when using a car charger that worked on my older htc phone it heats up the jade and then it eventualy locks i have to hit the reset button or pull the battery.
has anyone else found this or know of a way round it, I like my old one as it has about a 2m cable whish reaches exactly where i need it to.
has anyone else seen a car charger like this that works with the jade?
cheers
Tom
I have a charger from an old O2 phone and it's working fine. I had no problems with car charger so far.
I looked on the mains charger i had with the device and it says output is 5V, I think the car charger is giving out 12V as I think it's just a straight through usb light socket so i wouldn't imagine it's stepping down that much, only problem is i don't like the chargers with curly cables i want a straight cable or a charger that just has a usb socket on it.
any idea where i could find that?
I have another option of adding another lighter socket on the dash of the car near where the phone is but i don't really like drilling holes in the car if i don't have to!
ok a quick google and i have found a 4 usb port 5v car charger so fingers crossed that will sort my problem out.
it's quite cool as it has surge and over load protection for each port so if one shorts out the others carry on working.
Hi,
I already bought 2 car charger kits but non of them fit, they all have a mini USB and not the special one the Jade needs.
Can anyone give me a LINK for a proper car charger, cause on eBay they sell all the mini USB crab which obviously doesn't work!
Thanks!

Whats wrong with the mini usb ones? Thats what I use.
im moving from my ATT Tilt to the HTC Tilt2, and was wondering if the wall and car chargers from the origional tilt would be compatable with the tilt2?
i hope so, both being HTC products and all, but not sure because of the larger battery size of the tilt2, and if there is a difference in the volt/amp on the chargers...
if this has already been asked, im sorry, i couldnt find it.
No its not the plug is a l ittle different....
I'm using the wall charger that came from my HTC Hermes (AT&T 8525) with my Tilt2 and it's working fine. Also the USB cable/cigarette lighter combo that I used with my Tilt is working fine on the Tilt2.
This charger also worked with the Tilt as well.
Mini-USB has certain restrictions on how much the device can draw in terms of voltage and amps, these restrictions are put in place mainly to prevent USB devices from drawing too much power from PCs (mainly laptops, which may be running off of a battery).
Long story short, yes, your Tilt2 should work fine with the Tilt charger, assuming that they didn't put something extra on the plug (I've never even taken my Tilt charger out of the box).

Same here, since the TyTN, they all take MiniUSB 1Amp chargers. External battery chargers are a different thing however...
I'm using the charger that came with my Wizard since my unbranded phone came with the European charger and a honkin big adapter.
I have 3 HTC phones and all the chargers work with each phone and don't seem to have more or less a charge time. Most mini usb plugs will work with any HTC phone. I have the Tilt, Fuze and Tilt 2.
Yes it should work
thanx all, when i got home i actually looked at the specs on the chanrgers input and output and they were identical
i just didnt care for the charger that came with the tilt2, as a 3 piece unit vs the 1 piece tilt charger that also has a much longer cord...
I use my older wall charger and car charger from my Tilt on my Tilt2, and they both work fine.
I'm with you, I don't like the modular design of the newer wall charger. The old one is simple, and I like that. Seems like HTC was just cheaping out by using the same cord for both the wall charger and phone-to-USB. I've been using the cord to hook up the phone to my PC. But the charger part has not left the plastic bag it came in.
I'd call it Apple'ing up rather than cheaping out. The new charger is a lot like the iPhone's with it's usb/plug-in config... I willl say this, then yield to experts. I've noticed some disconnects while using the old cable for tethering that i do not observe while using the new cable. Could be my specific cables as they are old but I am using the new stuff and even considering buying an AC adapter and a couple new cables with the new plug.
First post so all help welcomed. I have an old XDA Orbit and decided to buy a second hand TG01 as an upgrade. The phone arrived and worked great, it took a bit of reading on this forum to get Tomtom working but the advice was great. I flashed a couple of roms and was really happy with the phone.
My old XDA used mini USB to charge and the TG01 uses micro USB so I thought I would convert my car charger by buying an adapter off Ebay which cleatly stated it was for the TG01 and could be used to convert car chargers. It arrived this morning I plugged my old charger into it and then plugged it into the TG01 and nothing happened (or so I thought), but I did notice my charger light had gone out. I assumed the charger was faulty and the phone still worked perfectly so thought no more of it.
When I got home the phone was down to 60% charge (yes I know they eat the battery) so I plugged in my official Toshiba charger and nothing happened again, no charging light came on. I then plugged it into my computer thinking maybe it was a bad day for chargers and again nothing. At this point I was getting a bit worried so I smelled the phone and it smells of burnt electrical smells. I opened the phone up to see if anything was loose (Nintendo DS screwdrivers work on the TG01) and it looked fine but does smell a bit.
Sorry for the long winded post but does anyone have any experience of burning out the charging circuit. The phone still works fine apart from not charging. I have still got about 60% charge but it will not last long. I have contacted the seller of the adapter but am not holding out much hope on that front. It may be a case of looking for a phone that has a broken screen or selling the bits for spares.
Cheers
Tommy
Toshiba have 2 years warranty with the TG01, so if you have a reciept or prove of purchase then you are covered.
I bought the TG01 second hand so am not the original owner. I have however contacted Toshiba UK to ask about spares, they said the same as you that there is a two year warranty. When I explained about not being the original owner they said they could sort me out a proof of purchase. I am waiting for them to get back to me but to be honest it all sounds a bit dodgy
