I have a Xda II (O2 - Asia) and have upgraded my ROM with Xda_II_172181_FINAL (which I suspect is UK)
I would like to get back to an ASIA version of ROM ....... either by upgrading to the latest available version of the Asian ROM, or by downgrading back to the factory installed Asian ROM
O2 support in Asia suggestes sending the machine to thier service centre
Surely there is a more practical fix ..... isn't there?

UK XDA II but the sms bug (missing +) is driving me slightly mad.
I'd like to upgrade to a rom which has this fixed but preferably has GPRS on all the time (I believe the tmobile one doesnt?.. what about the latest qtek?).
Any suggestions as to which?
Also, what do we think the chances of being able to apply a new O2 rom (when it comes out) back on top of say a qtek one? I'm assuming it may give an ID error but we know how to bypass that now?
A UK ROM update will be available soon. I'm not sure if this includes any SMS missing "+" fix, but it should address the Bluetooth COM/GPS issues.
You can use the T-mobile rom and change the MS file to Asia or UK rom then you can use the a useual what you required.
How can I do
Dear All,

i recently downloaded the UK ROM update from xda site. then i flashed my XDA2. i think i've lost my local (philippines) carriers (SMART). how can i change to the new ASIAN ROM? i tried downloading the f*****g file from the XDA site but it wouldn't.
i have a feeling it's because they think my ROM is up to date.
HEYELP!
solved!
no prob. got the cooked extended roms and they ROCK!
I need help to Revert back to Voda 1605.
How do i do this now?
Which firmware version shoud i use and which Vodafone ROM?
When i used the Dopod Firmware and Vodafone UK Extended Rom from the XDA site, i got errors saying cannot find windows\\vodafone.bmp.
I guess the Vodafone UK Ext ROM looks for custom files which shoud be there, however, as it the Dopod one, they are not there and gives a error.
Can some please send me this file and help to get it back to vodafone?
There is no official rom upgrade from Vodafone, so at the moment you can't revert back to the original VF ROM.
You'll need to wait until they release a ROM update.
Regarding the Vodafone.BMP error, see this post.
If you put an image in windows with the name vodafone.bmp it will let the extended rom run. However, it WILL NOT revert you back to the vodafone ROM. You'll get the 3 symbol, the setup things but the phone skin will be broken and you will not have the voda theme - have to wait for a voda rom
Hi everyone
I just bought an unlocked (I think since it is working in Pakistan) Orange branded HTC Hero yesterday. The specs are:
Firmware Number: 1.5
Build number: 1.76.61.3
Software Version: 1.0.0.A6288
I was wondering which update should I use to update it? Do I need the Orange one or the generic one? which is the latest available update?
Noob here for Android, all help highly appreciated, and needed urgently
Thanks
At a guess the Orange ROM. Check by entering your Hero serial number into the appropriate area on the HTC update page.
Would that lock the phone again? or can i still use it here in Pk?
Not sure TBH.
It shouldn't do - unlocked mine before updating using Orange update ROM and it is still unlocked after update.
which version did you upgrade to and what process did you use to unlock?
Are you using your phone in UK and/or with Orange?
I got my handset on contract with Orange UK, unlocked with a code from http://htcunlocking.co.uk/HTC/Hero, updated to software 2.73 with the Orange Specific update from the HTC UK Support site and still use both Orange UK / Lebara Mobile / Vodafone Italy cards in it.
How do i update rom on hd2?
unbranded, using vodafone sim!!
will not update from voda website new version 1.72, using 1.66 at the moment
since the phone is unbranded, the voda rom won't work since it is checking for a voda locked rom.
install hspl2, and choose 1.66.hspl
you can then flash any rom you want.
if you want a stock rom you could get that direct from the htc website
