Hi, first of all great forum
after reading all the forums, I am very eager to upgrade my XDA II with original ROM Version 1.66 to WM2003SE
but I have many questions that I want to clear before going for it.
btw, my setup is, I use SonyEricsson HBH-660 Bluetooth Headset and Socket Wifi SD card. both works fine with my current ROM but the HBH-660 can display any caller ID nor even the caller number or name.
Is there anyone who use these accessories with their XDA II that upgrade to WM2003SE but still work with no problem?
Will I be able to use them without problem? will I gain any new functionality after upgrade?
Btw I am from Philippines and the ROM I think is original release on the XDA when I got it,
which ROM should I get for the upgrade? which is the easiest path to do it? how can I backup my original ROM (so I can revert if something wrong) or is there anywhere to get the original ROM?
may be there is some guru out there that is near Binondo area that have done it and can help me,
many thanks in advance for any input, I just don't want anything to go wrong when I do the upgrade
thanks again
any help?
read the forum thats all the help you need
read the forum where it says how to update you rom and avoid problems
backup is good if anything goes wrong you can revert back
but first read the forum thats important
Ok guys so ive just bought a uk orange branded hero, and i dont have a clue about android or linux for that matter, so i hope you guys could answer a few questions for me, ive looked at the stickys in the android development section, and now im more confused than before lol
1) What is rooting? and what is the process ment to achieve?
2) like i said i have a uk orange branded hero, now what is the process i need to do before i can start flashing roms? it seems a little more complicated that just flashing hspl like am used to lol
root is the system administrator of a unix system. you might wanna google that if you don't know what it is.
depending on your fastboot version you need to flash the custom recovery image, from there on it is a piece of cake. if you don't need to downgrade your system then flashing the custom recovery is also a piece of cake.

My intention is to give balanced advice to all those who intend to modify their new Android.
Ask yourselves, what do you intend to do with root access, if you want your phone to do all simple tasks, no need to root. I would say get familiar with new OS before deciding "Root Way."

Rooting is the process of gaining full system access to your device. This has pros and cons (you can modify anything and really tweak the guts of your system...but you can also truely fubar the whole thing a lot easier too). If you don't have a need to root, I generally advise against it.
Flashing custom ROMs are an unsupported method of customization...but it, like rooting, has some potential gains. Some ROMS give more speed, some ROMs include more features that you may or may not want. Flashing ROMs are the reasons most people root (as to flash the ROM, you need root access)
Thanx for all your help guys, i read all that info and spent the last 2 days learning lol 2day i sucsessfully downgraded my rom, routed and flashed modaco 2.9
Goodlad!
Excellent. Now please tell our forum members which road you drove to get to root, so that someone with same enthusiam can also do same. You dont have to write whole page, just majot points and references or links.
Thanks.
Hello XDA,
I am currently debating on buying the SH-12C for my gf. One of the major things holding me back from buying it would be lack of custom roms, root-ability, and support.
Does anyone know of any forums or websites that provide these services?
I searched XDA and Googled "SH-12C custom roms" but I had no luck.
Thanks,
lilhugo

as you maybe know there was an update for the sh-12c and we already have that firmware-files in this forum !
the only bad thing is , its coded in .enc format and i posted a way how it could probably work to unpack/decode the files >>here<<.
so if this contains a whole firmware ,maybe we would be able to make lots of modifications, custom roms and the most important thing ...ROOT!!!
but it seems there are not much people here who want to do the first step or something for their "root"
iam tryin things on and on , every day ,,,my skills are also limited ..hmm
some ppl from asian forums will solve that first i think ...

Oh wow, you're awesome! I swear I've seen you around on the forums somewhere before while I was lurking.
Anyways thanks for the info. I'll subscribe to that thread and I'll see if I can learn new things to contribute.
Thanks again,

hi your message seems you know much about sh-12c could you please help me my phone stuck in boot , i have backup on sd card and back up is there any way of hard reset or adb recovery ? i tried some some commant like wipe all but it was error permission denied , could you help- me to restore my phone ?
Since there's no real fixed guide, i wanted to open up this post. We all know how limited Windows Mobile is, and people (such as me ) don't really know how to flash a nand rom.
The only thing i know is that the whole process is a lot different from flashing a WinMo rom, so if anyone could write down a detailed guide and sticky this thread, it would be really appreciated.
Thank you!

My phone before: Korean SHW-M250K, Android version 2.3.4
Changed it to ICS GT-I9100 android version 4.4 using this tutor = http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28453431&postcount=1035
Result: Everything seems good but no mobile network
Then changed it again to android version 5.1.5 ROM is CM 12.1
Tried to install GApps but always get insufficent storage error. No matter what version min to max size.
What should i do?
You have to repartition system, normal is 512 mb, insufficient for LP and mm roms, so gapps won't fit. Repit system to 1 gb. Always have a backup of efs partition, if you screw up no mobile signal, unknown imei , baseband etc!
Read here for repartition , Want to update to CM13? Read this first!

Perhaps if you communicate a little less abrasive and frankly, rude, you might get more help.
You asked a question, someone kindly replied and told you what to do. This is a smartphone development forum. You have to expect to be faced with terms like IMEI, ROMs, baseband etc etc. This isn't tech support 101.
If you don't understand, either do some research into what they said (it's not difficult), or explain that you don't understand and could they please provide some steps or additional information that will help you.
You'll find people treat you a whole lot better if you treat them the same way

When ppl ask from me about something on internet i try to explain it really hard with every single detail. Because u don't know about his knowledge about something.
How the hell supposed to i know about all of them? atleast dont write 1- 3 letter. mm? imie?
And no i don't have to study all those thing. Just a little knowledge.
Your problem is that you don't read the help forums first or any at all. it's not rocket science to read a guide how to do it, step by step. You are not the first doing same mistake in a hurry, getting impatient to see new features of a custom rom! everyone has make a mistake and we are not born smart! you learn in time! if you could just read in the time you that spend typing and being rude, those links saves you from the trouble!
Inform yourself first, before asking questions and yelling at me like I've ruined your phone!

Im not a pro or a developer, just a simple man and user like you! if you are unfamiliar with those terms then google , wikipedia is you friend!
If just read that lp and mm roms are bigger and they will not fit a 512 mb partition... lp stand for lollipop - CM12.1, android 5.1.1
mm = marshmallow cm13 - android 6
imei = International Mobile Station Equipment Identity
efs partition = http://gadgetsacademy.com/efs-data-android-explained/
baseband = A baseband processor (also known as baseband radio processor, BP, or BBP) is a device (a chip or part of a chip) in a network interface that manages all the radio functions (all functions that require an antenna); however, this term is generally not used in reference to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth radios. A baseband processor typically uses its own RAM and firmware.
When you are sitting in front of your pc and have an internet connection, you have acces to a vast information... but you are to lazy to read.... if you do things blindly , don't be expected to work as you would!
