I have had a Vega Holster for pretty much all my previous cell phones, it does a great job of protecting them and looks great. You can get it in black too.
I couldn't find anyone in the US selling this great holster, they are handmade in Italy and the company is based in the UK.
I ordered through Orate, and it drop ships from the manufacturer via registered USPS in about 10 days for GPB 25 + GPB 5 P&P. Total was about $45.
Here's the link to Orate:-

No affialiation, just wanted to say that I got good service from a hard to find but great holster....

I had a Vega holster once.
How would I describe it? Excessive build quality! 8)
Agreed, they are very well made, but they take a beating and protect the phone very well.
- Tim
I used a Vega holster for my Sony Ericsson Z600 for a couple of years. Amazing quality -- same construction as the heavy duty leather holsters they make for guns. Last forever.
Only questions, though, using a Vega holster with an MDA:
1) is the ringing sound muffled? My Z600 was REALLY hard to hear when it was in the holster -- I depended on vibrate when it was holstered.
2) How easy is it to get the MDA out of the holster when it rings -- without getting your fingers all over the screen?
Great looking and beautifully made products -- but I'd only be interested in this were really a good functional accessory for the MDA...otherwise, no point.

1) I haven't notice the muffled ring, but I have it on vibrate 99% of the time.
2) It was a little tight at first, but a couple of nights stuffed with paper loosened it up. Also I had to put the phone in 'upside down' otherwise the battery cover was pulled off - By the way the design of the battery cover is one of the worst features of the phone! Screen 'dirt' was not a problem.
The main reason I got the phone was the protection, so many of the other cases don't protect the sides from knocks etc.

Go to link http://www.orate.co.uk/acatalog/i-Mate_K-Jam.html and scroll all the way to the bottom. Vega link is there. It doesn't show the model number, but I took that from the stamping directly on the back of my holster. Hope it helps.
I am surprised that Vega are still in business, it is so damn hard to buy their holsters in the US. I emailed them to let them know they need to beef up their re-sellers in the US, they didn't even bother to respond. If I had received a reply, I was going to look into the logistics of setting up shop here. Orate seem to be OK though. Not that it matters, but I found out that Orate place a drop-ship order with Vega and it is shipped from Vegas' warehouse directly to the you, with signed, delivery confirmation in a jiffy bag and bubble wrap. Seemed to work well.

How does this case attach to your belt? I can't tell.
from the item description:
>>>
This fully lined belt holster can be worn on the belt or simply used as a case. lt features an injection moulded nylon spring clip that locks on to the belt or, for a more secure fastening, the belt may be threaded through the slots and worn either horizontal or vertical to the belt.
When worn near the rear trouser pocket the holster is comfortable and the mobile phone is instantly accessible while sitting or walking. Designed to fit belts up to 4 cm width.

The Vega holster I've used with my SE Z600 is almost identical - just a bit small as befits the smaller phone - but it's the same construction.
The leather is fantastic - like what you'd get with a very thick, high quality belt, with incredibly durable and tight stitching. The clip looks like black plastic - but it's far tougher than ordinary plastic, being made of nylon. A flat tab on the clip slides into a slot in the back of the holster and has a couple of short raised posts on it that fit into corresponding holes (1/8" or so) in the back of the holster -- these lock the clip into the holster so it doesn't pull out by accident -- but you can lift the tab and disengage the posts from the holes easily when you want to, and slide the nylon tab out, removing the clip from the holster when desired. The reason you might want to do this would be to take advantage of the vertical or horizontal belt slots in the back of the holster -- If you don't want to use the nylon clip, you can thread your belt through the slots in the back of the case. Definitely harder than using the clip - but there's NO way the case will come off your belt that way!
Anyway - assuming you keep the clip on the phone - it's a good sized clip, easy to use and very effective. It's large enough to slip over anything from a narrow dress belt to a wide thick belt. The open end of the clip curves back, forming a closed loop when you're not holding it open against the springy tension of the nylon. Maybe that's hard to visualize from my description - but what that means is that you slide the clip over your belt, and as open end clears your belt, the material sort of "springs shut", effectively forming a loop around your belt. It simply will NOT fall off your belt accidentally.
You can also slip the clip over the edge of a pair of pants (if you don't have a belt on), and I regularly clipped it to the carrying strap on my equipment bag when I'd go to the dojo to practice.
I love the contruction, and it's an unusual and handsome case. It should last far longer than your phone.
My only concerns would be:
- the potential for the ringing sound to be muffled
- the difficulty in grabbing the phone out of the holster without inadvertantly pressing one of the buttons that I did not WANT to press
I'm a Vega fan in general, but I'm wondering if I would like a Krusell Cabriolet better for the MDA. I'd love to see one in person before making that decision!
Thanks for the help on the clip! Sounds like exactly the thing I am looking for as a second case.
How is the useability of the case specific to the MDA?

Ordered this case from the same company (orate.co.uk). They sent me the wrong case (1R164). This case is way to big for this phone. I see in your posting that you got another one model number that I'm assuming fits the MDA better. I emailed them 2 days ago, but have gotten no reply. Does anyone know of a company in the US to get this case from?
US Vega Vendor
I looked long and hard for a US supplier, with no luck, so I think you will have to resolve this with Orate.
When I called them to find out where my holster was, I got a good impression of the company, the owner (I think has name was Graham, but I can't be sure) answered all my questions.

Hi ive just moved from the TREO600 to an O2 xda mini s and i hate the belt clip case that comes with it , anyone know of a simple slip case (like the treo) that works with the xda/kjam/dopod 838/mda vario ive done some googleing but cant find anything
thanks

Nice one they look perfect , though the case that fits my device has been suspended
I use a Magician Case, (I-Mate JAM) I used to have the Magician and this case was very good for it, the mini-s fits snuggly in it now and it has stretched a little over the course of the year I've had it.

ok here are some suggestions while you look for your perfect slip case... by the way are you looking for a horizontal one or vertical one?
--
ipod mini sock [it stretches... used this the first few days I had my wizard]
one of those oakley shades cases cum wipes [dual function there]
--
I think most SE P800 or P900 cases would fit the mini S [well actually from comparison shots it even looks like Treo cases would fit as well]
--
currently I am using a aluminium case for my wizard.
Hi ive tried the treo and an ipod case they are both a quite tight, i could attempt a stretch but id prefer a solution that doesnt need modding Oh and im looking for a verticle slipcase just like the Treo's no belt loop etc justa simple case.
Krusell
The Krusell Cabriolet ought to be perfect from what you're describing. It does come with a belt clip functionality but since it's Krusell you can replace this with any one of a number of options or simply remove it altogether.
There's a post over at PDANut listing all the case options.
i know its a little late, but im looking for a slip case as well and came up with this
Slip case
Timbuk2 Smartphone case. Fit perfectly

I got mine from Palm store
http://web.palm.com/products/Category.jhtml?id=180042&cat=b100016
Go to boxwave.com and make a request. They claim that if they get enough requests they release the product. Go to the link at the bottom to request a product for a device and then make sure "Flexiskin" is checked. It is probably a good idea to mention all the Wizard's aliases (MDA Vario, Qtek 9100, I-mate K-jam) so they see it is a device in alot of user's hands. I owned one of these for my Treo and it was outstanding.
Just an FYI to everyone:
I got my Krusell Verticalic Case today and it works GREAT for the 8125. You need to order the small-wide size (Model 94178). The websites don't list it as compatible, but if you pull out your ruler and measure your phone (believe it or not Cingular has the width wrong) you will see that it is a perfect fit for this case. I have a spring clip to wear with my jeans and a swivel clip to wear with my nicer work clothes.
I am psyched! I had been waiting for this thing to come in, as I was convinced it would fit despite it not being listed as compatible.
Also-if anyone is looking for a good place to get one of these...I can recommend sfplanet.com. I ordered mine from them on Sunday and I got it today (MN to SC). They also did a great job with some special instructions I left in the comments box.
Two thumbs up for the Krusell case and two thumbs up for SFPlanet.com!!!

All they have at the moment is a swivel clip holster, but hopefully they'll have their windshield mounted cradles too, that's what i really want..

sweeeet... ive been looking for one of these for forever. i hate those leather cases that add bulk to the device, this just sits snugly holding your phone or on your waist. nice that it protects the screen too, just how i wanted it.
thanks!!
One issue
Let me know if you get one. I know the Verizon version of the wizard came with a holster like this one. Problem is, whenever I took it out of the holster the clip on top brushed against the MiniSD and it popped out like toast from a toaster. Hopefully this wont happen with this one.
Phillyjaq
I have one that I posted pictures of over at howardforums.com. It works fine. I havent had the "toaster" situation happen yet.
I just purchased this case. I was looking for a case that:
- was as thin as possible because the phone is already pretty thick
- was easy to access since the OEM case is so clunky
- had a flexible belt clip, i.e., opens and swivels. I found the static clip on the OEM case difficult to attach
- protected the screen from bumps and scratches
Here are the pluses:
+ clean, simple design
+ sturdy plastic with an excellent belt clip design. The clip is large and easy to use. It's built with a sturdy metal spring and can pivot. The pivot gives a nice solid click when it moves and can be adjusted vertically, horizontally or a couple of clicks in between.
+ easy to use two-handed. The top clip is spring-loaded and very secure. I have no concern that the phone will pop out of the case.
+ reasonable price $30. I originally wanted a slip case, but some of the leather ones out there were going for $50 bucks. Ouch!
And the minuses (in order of irritation):
- not easy to use one-handed. The problem is the location of the power switch and memory card on the phone. I find it too easy to bump the power switch with the top clip while I'm loading and unloading the phone. This creates some interesting results since it's also easy to hit other buttons on the way to and from the case. Also, I've had the phone glitch because the clip hit the memory card. This is a little scary because I don't want to ruin the card or the slot hardware.
- some flashing on the mold seam on the top clip. This was solved with some sandpaper. Not a big deal, but the flashing was sharp and I kept hitting it as I loaded and unloaded the phone.
Overall, I would rate the case as pretty good but not perfect. If I was less clumsy, maybe it would be a good one-handed case, but two-handed is okay for me. The size is right and the belt clip is great.
Sorry for the potentially silly question, but this should fit the MDA right?
yes mda fits but 30$ is redicilous..wait for them to be on ebay for 4.99 plus 1 penny shipping.. just like the car chargers

Just received mine yesterday from this eBay seller. Yes, it is the Seido brand. This clip is exactly what I was looking for. I was a little concerned about clipping in and out. I guess I missed it in one of the above posts, but the top bracket is hinged, which allows you to hold it up, place the phone in the bottom brackets and let the top bracket down to hold it in. I found it very easy to do one handed after about 5 minutes of playing with it. Very good product.....IMHO
I can't say I've yet mastered the one-handed insert and remove processes. I'm giving it a couple more days before I request a refund. Do you have any hints regarding how you manage to use this holster with just one hand? I also find the top clip regularly hits either the power button, the SD card, or both. Not an optimal design at all.
Thank you.

i had mine for 2 days now and LOVE it! I mastered the one hand in/out simply....
take out - i push the clip away with my index finger and use the rest of the hand to guide/retrieve the phone...
put back in - use my index finger to "hook" the clip and push it back while the rest of the hand slides the phone into the "full seated" position, then put the clip down and just run my hand along the edges fast to make sure everything i in tight....
hope this helps...
I bought the clip too, but it keeps ejecting my memory card!
one time i took it out with out looking and my memory card fell out.
luckly, nothing broke.
i'll need to redesign a few things.
Does anyone have any TyTN case suggestions? Something with a low profile so that it doesn't add to the pocket bulk, yet still allows the keyboard to slide out?

Great link Mike. Any recommendations? I'm looking for a case to fit into a bad/pocket rather than on my belt.
I started with the Shield Zone treatment... full body treatment. The top was fairly unprotected. There was a piece supplied that I believe was supposed to go there, but it didn't fit. Or at least I couldn't figure out how it fit. It's a decent solution for scratching and such, but not total protection. I can also see the edges of the applied material gathering lint, dust, etc. eventually becoming really grimey.
Also, the screen protector from Shield Zone sucks. It's too thick and nearly impossible to get a clear and clean application. It also has too much drag to comfortably use the stylus. Instead, I strongly suggest the Anti-glare from Boxwave instead. Used them on other PDAs and my Treo in the past. Much better quality, easily washable and reusable, very easy on the eyes and still easily usable with a stylus:
http://www.boxwave.com/products/easyfinder/buy-best-htc-tytn-accessories_2076.htm
Earlier this week, this case showed up:
http://pdaden.com/shop/cart.php?target=product&action=view&product_id=18122&substring=tytn
It definitely provides drop/bump/scratch protection. I may rip the flip screen off since I have the Boxwave on it. But overall, it doesn't add too much bulk, makes the phone easier to hold on to and even offers a degree of splash protection. I also don't care for clips, preferring to keep my phone in a front pocket.
This phone is huge! I feel like i'm smuggling a brick when i have it in the pocket. I can't believe there is not a cover out there being made that lets you clip it, but i still haven't found it.

I totally agree - I have not seen a simple belt clip yet so I'm waiting for seidio to make a spring clip swivel holster like i had for the 8125. http://www.seidioonline.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=302
I've emailed Seidio and asked if/when availability for ther 8525 holster is coming and have not heard back yet. Maybe if others email them, they'll hurry the process. I'm sure they were waiting to see how popular the phone is before they commit to making it...
In the meantime, I'm using my old Treo 650 leather case, and it fits perfectly. It's just a bit bulky versus a lower profile clip and holster...

This case is the best design i have seen as it is the only one that opens without any removal. You clip on in 2 pieces, 1 on the front and 1 for back. The keyboard will open without having to remove anything, since its 2 seperate pieces.... Now if they could just add a clip to the back of that it is perfect.
Not sure I love the holster idea b/c you still have to unclip it, and i may not want it on the belt all the time. But it may be the best bet out there, that is if its out there!

also recommend the shieldzone, they have it for the HERM100 and HERM200 variants
not 100% complete cover, but enough to give you a piece of mind from minor scratches.

Seidio Holster for 8525
The Seidio holster for the 8525 is in. I ordered one but it has yet to arrive.
http://www.seidioonline.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=589
When I bought my HTC Advantage 4 1/2 years ago there was no decent case for it anywhere - like the Note it has a large screen (5") and unlike the Note a very large body. I found Nutshell (a.k.a. Tough-as-Nuts) and their line of cases - built like tanks, literally with gun holster components including heavy leather and heavy-duty belt clips. We had a long discussion about it here, including pics http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=344605 . It ended up being the only case most XDA members bought.
Fast forward to today, now that I have my Note on pre-order my first stop was to check out the Nutshell offering for the Note. This is the one I found:
http://tuff-as-nuts.com/Samsung-Galaxy-Note-belt-case.aspx
I also happened to find an old post offering a discount, which I didn't know about when I ordered my other case. This offer may not even be valid:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=259275
I haven't ordered the case yet, I want to see how well the Note fits into my Advantage case first - it will fit the height and width but the Advantage case may be too roomy for the thickness since it is twice as thick as the Note. If I do order one I'll report back here with pics and a fresh review.
Edited 4/12. Case arrived today, ordered on March 26th (I used the "tuff02" 10% discount code mentioned below). Just as well-built as my old case, even stronger because they now build in something flat and hard into the back wall. By putting the phone into the case with the screen facing inward the screen will be fully protected. I ordered the pen loop option this time. I always carried one inside my last case but that phone was so thick there was room next to it. As I figured, there isn't enough room for a pen next to the Note - too thin. I'm not complaining.
In the last picture you can see a bump under the leather below the metal clip. That, along with the lower lip of the clip, keeps it on your belt no matter what you do.
I'm still looking for a case for mine and came across your post; thank you for sharing. I'm still gonna do some more looking, but this one is now on my list as a possibility (that is if they take them off hold and actually start making them).
FYI...
I tried the coupon code "tuff01" in the thread you linked to and it showed up 5% savings. For the heck of it I tried punching in "tuff02" and it shows 10% savings.

Sweet! I'll be sure to use that.
This case is awesome. I also got one for my MDA, still looks like new.
Quick update, I noticed they removed their placeholder page for the Note case (the 2nd link in my 1st post above). I've emailed them to find out which of their cases would be best. I looked at this chart to match up to the Note's specs (146.85 x 82.95 x 9.65mm):

At first glance their case #215 would work - it appears to be the right length and width, but it has twice the depth as it should for the Note so it would flop around. Then I noticed case 270 right above it is the very one I already have for my Advantage and I already know that case is the right height, but too wide and again way too much depth. So that would mean 215 would be too long! I'm not spending $60 and waiting 2 weeks to find out it won't hold the phone securely. If I hear back from them I'll report back.
I am currently using a NutShell case I got as a freebee back at one of the PPC expos it is a very good fit (I do have the Samsung flip cover on it). The design is their basic case with the notched corners and no clip (leather slip panel the belt goes thru)
Cheers

I received a reply from the company:
Almost there
Still awaiting final asset approval.

So the placeholder page is back, and it says they are taking preorders if you are interested. I may make an order today.
Thanks for the info, techntrek. Please post if you hear anything. I'm a former (heck I still have it) Advantage owner looking into the note now, and one of the first things I'm looking at is a belt case like I used to love back then!
- I also sent you a pm. Interested in comparisons for former Advantage users to compare against the Note.
I had an Advantage. What questions do you have?

Thanks for the reply, but too late - I bought the Note a week ago. Loving it except for battery life problems (which I'm researching again now!)
Yup, we had a nice conversation comparing the Advantage to the Note.
Glad to hear you got one.
BTW it looks like this case is now available. Getting ready to order, using the "tuff02" discount code.
Just ordered, may take up to 2 weeks for delivery.
I've been wearing my phone on my belt for more years then I can remember - but since I had nothing for the Note up front, I've been carrying it loose in my pocket (with screen protector & ultra-slim bumper case) for a week.
..and I might stay this way for a while. I was always catching my case on things before. I was also hoping the vibration would be easy to feel in the pocket, but this past weekend proved the vibration isn't strong enough.
Might switch back to a belt pouch later, but going to stick with this way for a while & see. Be sure to post reviews of the Tuff case when you get it!
Ditto, I've been trying it in the pocket for the last 5 1/2 weeks, also hoping I could get away from the pouch. But it was always hard getting it out, so I'm back to a pouch. I agree it is surprisingly hard to feel the thing vibrate even when its sitting right on your leg.
Updated post #2 with a full review, including pictures.
Two things I would change so far. I never used the D-ring on my old case, and never will on this one. I should have asked them to leave it off. Looks like it will be easy to remove with a razor blade.
I'm glad I got the pen holder/loop, but I should have asked them to put it on the BACK edge, and since I always wear it on my right hip, to put it on the side that faces rear (the right side as you face the back).
Some things for you to consider if you order one.
Nut case for Galaxy Note
This is my 2nd tuff-as-nuts case. My first outlived all of my 3 iPhones. It is still in almost new condition in my drawer. This is the nicest hip holster I have found. I have tried several. The clip will never break. The fit is very snug for the first week or so and then it loosens up. I am very happy with this case ever though it is expensive. I got chocolate leather with belt clip and full magnetic flap.

Thanks for valuable info re: cases w/beltclips - will the phone fit with the candy shell over it??
The fit is VERY tight with no cover. They design to the factory specs and go slightly smaller, counting on the leather to stretch a little.
They will make custom versions for a small extra charge, or you could compare all of their models by size (look for the link on the left side of their home page) and pick one that is slightly larger. The one they originally made for the Advantage is probably the one you'll need. If there is any wild chance you live in central MD you could try my old case and buy it from me if it works.
Has anyone found a holster or holster combo for the note i have the white one?
I haven't. I'm waiting for Seidio's release. Just have to settle for something else for now for protection.
I am also waiting for seidio..hope they release a surface/innocase/holster combo like the active case they have on the site.

Used one of these for the last 4 1/2 years, they build them with gun holster leather and clips. Indestructable.
I'm definitely thinking something else besides a case because when spring time hits and I dont have my coat pockets to carry this in its going to look and feel a little uncomfortable in pants/shorts pockets. But a holster, to me, may not be the safest thing for a device this size besides looking like the biggest geek . I'm thinking something more along the lines of a belt pouch, or man purse or something. Obviously I dont care what I look like carrying this just want to be comfortable and be safe for the device.

Go to www.ebay.com and search for Easecase
Eascase is a company, in China, that makes custom cases for a lot of different phones including the Streak and Note. I have one for my Streak, and a new one is in the mail right now for my Note. These are Custom Made cases! You get to choose the type and color of leather both inside and out as well as the closure type and Belt Clip or Loop !! My Streak case has a clip that while very nice and strong still has a tendency to pop off of my belt at times. I must have dropped the Streak at least 20 times Without ANY Damage!!!! My new case, for my Note, I ordered with a belt LOOP so that it will Never fall off again They have both horizontal and vertical cases; and the prices start at $50 and go up from there. Both my cases were $50. Very worth the price for the Incredible Quality IMHO !
Another place you might investigate is netimes dot com. Since I'm a new member I can't post you links but I ordered the hanging waist case for the note.
And at just over 10 bucks including shipping seems totally worth it. Like a lot of these places, you order from Hong Kong or China and have to wait a long time for them to show up. I ordered last Monday and still waiting for mine but it hit the US on Saturday so I imagine it will show up this week and I can give my full impressions then, but I just couldn't see spending 50+ bucks on something like this so thought I would mention this site which seems to have a bunch of Note related stuff really cheap.
Just an update on my holster. I received mine today from netimes and was very impressed. The leather (probably faux) feels high quality with nice straight stitching and the the belt clip is VERY solid. It is almost too hard to get on and off my belt, but I guess that's a good thing. The Note fits perfectly inside. The only thing I'm disappointed about is that it has magnets inside to keep the flap of it down. I got this one because I didn't think it had any magnets inside it just a big flap to keep the Note safely inside, but unfortunately it does have magnets. I guess time will tell if the Note gets ruined by it or not, but for $10.84 including shipping I'm very impressed. So, only complaints, had to use PayPal, took 10 days to get here, and had has magnents in the case. Your mileage may vary.
