Pocket Internet Explorer 'page cannot be found' problems - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

I have a O2 XDA I with Microsoft Pocket PC Version 3.0.12039 (Build 11178).
When I try to use Pocket Internet Explorer I see that the phone is connecting to Orange GPRS network. I see the status changing from 'connecting' to 'connected'. So fas so good.
But then I get the message "The Page you are looking for cannot be found".
I installed also EzWAP and there I have no problem.
There I have another problem. On a lot of pages I get the message 'Unable to display page. Size is too long'.
Any help is much appreciated!!!!

I am also having this problem. It just started recently. It happens will every website I try to connect to with Pocket IE. It's not an Internet connectivity problem, as other Internet applications work fine. In addition, I installed an alternate browser (Minimo) and it connects just fine to any web page. It seems to be specific to Pocket IE. I'd like to know if:
1 - Has anyone has experienced this and fixed it along with the steps to take to fix it?
2 - or can I just reinstall Pocket IE? Where can I get the latest Pocket IE installation file?
Thanks in advance!
Michael Smith

Any solution to this problem?
Cheers

official HTC wm6 problems

Hi all,
I recently flashed my X01HT used with Softbank Japan network.
I did a normal procidure
1. flash the ROM using HTC official Wm06.
It has been flashed perfect. no issues in flashing.
2. loading the Softbank AP settings.
I used the http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298031&page=2&highlight=ConnSBM for getting the softbank AP settings.
these settings were working fine. without any issues. Then later i used my home Wifi lan, and then the pocket IE is not working. even if the wifi connection is connected IE give a messege "The page cannot be found. Check the name and try again."
most interesting part is, I installed opera for ppc at this point and its working fine.
When i try to connect to windows live, its connecting to gprs (which is working and connecting to server) eventhough the wifi connections is there and connected.
Now, if i delete the AP settings at this point. I can use wifi again.
at the same time now, when i try to loginn into the windows live, its give me a big error stating that the connection is not allowing me to access internet and check the settings with your service provider.
In short,
with the HTC official wm06,
I would like to use wifi connection when at home,
on the move i want to use softbank ap settings,
and i want to use windows live at home and on the move and should use the available wifi connection first, and if not available use the gprs.
guys help me, let me know if there is a sequence in which i sould be doing this or simthing like that.
POF ur the bestt person to ans this i guess.!!!

page cannot be found?

Hi all,
When connected to my homework, Internet Explorer gives me page cannot be found error, although Minimo (Firefox for pocketpc) is able to connect to the web.
Skype and Google Maps is also working, Windows Live fails (i suspect it somehow uses IE's settings).
Anybody has the same issues, i'm using PdaVIET 4.0.0.6
Cheers
Have you set a proxy on IE?
I performed a hardreset and so far everything works fine for 2 days.
I suspect this is/was a small bug somewhere in this rom

Conn. Prob. w/ Opera Mini/IE & BBC <-Used search

I have looked all over the internet, both on this site and through google, I even shot over to howardforums for a few. I know I saw the solution somewhere, but all my searches are filled with bbc connection probs, not internet connection probs. Heres whats going on... I have the TNT2 rom, I changed the aku version in my registry to .3.7.1 and installed Blackberry Connect 4.0.0.90. Everything there is working fine. The problem is that Internet Explorer will not work. I knew this was a possibility cause I read it on this forum somewhere. I installed Opera Mini browser and then my PC crashed and I lost my bookmark that showed how to make it connect through blackberry connect. Does anyone have the link to the page that shows how to get it to share the existing BBC connection instead of it trying to create its own? Or know how to do it? I went to Start>Settings>Connections>Advanced>Select Networks & changed both dropdowns to My Blackberry, then went to the MidLet manager and set the network on Opera Mini to My Blackberry, and it gives me this error...
Error
Failed to connect to the Internet.

java.io.IOException: null
Someone please Help!!!
Thanks.

Internet Sharing suddenly stopped working

I am running dcd 2.3.2 with radio 3.42.30. Everything was working great until late last week... my Internet Sharing suddenly stopped working. When I say 'stopped working' I mean that it is no longer allowing me to connect via USB to my PC to get internet access. The PC does see it and ActiveSync pops up and when I start Internet Sharing it appears to work, even providing a 192.168.0.10x IP address to the computer. However, it never actually gets 'out' from the phone. On my friend's Vista machine, the little globe never appears on the network icon in the system tray. I tried a hard reset, a couple times, without success. I even pulled the battery for a while to see if that would help. Tried different USB cables. Tried changing the IP from mobile preferred to mobile only. My friend's mogul flashed the same is working, mine just stopped. Any thoughts?
Edit: PIE works until I establish Internet Sharing. Internet Sharing says connected but I don't get out to the internet and PIE will not work giving some message about "Page can not be found" until I disconnect from Internet Sharing.
I have persevered through the issue and have found a solution. I assumed the problem was likely DNS related because I was connecting fine, it was simply not showing as on the ‘Internet’ in Windows Vista. Once I connected this way with my phone, I was unable to browse even using PIE as I would get an error indicating the page could not be found. A little searching and I came across this DNS ‘speed fix’ post over at ppcgeeks.
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=18435
I followed the instructions to change the DNS server entries and I was then able to tether just fine. So apparently, DNS was the culprit. However, I am wondering now what my default DNS servers were. I don’t see anything other than 192.168.0.1 on my PC when I check ipconfig information. Is there a utility that I can load on the phone to see what DNS servers I am getting from Sprint?
I would like to see what my friend who is using Sprint and not having a problem is getting also. If it is a Sprint DNS issue, maybe I should let them know about it and what the specific DNS server(s) are that are affected.

[Q] Internet connection problem (WIFI)

Hi all,
I got problem with internet connection on my HD2 (ROM 1.48). There are 2 ways I connect to the internet - WIFI and GPRS. GPRS connection works fine - I can download and read e-mails, make backups with MyPhone, update weather information, etc. But when I connect to the internet with WIFI, there are only 2 things I can do. I can browse web pages with Opera and update Twitter messages. But I can´t download e-mails, make backups, update weather information, etc. When I try to update or backup something, there is connection error (through that connection between phone and router is fine and web pages are running).
It seems to me like most of applications want to connect to internet via GPRS only. Is there any way to set up (or check) the phone to connect to the internet via WIFI when it is turned on?
Thanks for any advice
Sorry cant help but agree - it would be fantastic if there was some way of knowing / controlling when it used GPRS data and when it uses wifi. When wifi availabe obviously would rather use that than be charge a small firtune for data.
Any one out there about to help with this??
Internet browsing
Ditto. I can - after HUGE effort - connect WiFi but I cannot browse the internet using either Opera or IE. 2 year old Nokia connected and browsed literally within 2 secs! Also, the phone keeps connecting via GPRS all the time even with data connections off. Can anyone help? Thanks PS I know it's unproductive & forgive me, but I have to get this off my chest: this is the worst cellphone I've ever owned. Bluetooth doesn't work, internet doesn't work, handsfree car kit doesn't work. Does anything work?

Click to collapse
correction, YOUR Bluetooth doesn't work, YOUR internet doesn't work, YOUR handsfree car kit doesn't work.
Get it exchanged. (if they genuinely dont work)
@others, go to settings menu all settings connection connections advanced select networks.
there are two dropdowns, in teh top one should be the name of your mobile data, , this is what automatic progs will use to connect to the web, in teh bottom one it should be 'the internet' (or sometimes 'my work network'), meaning they use wifi if available, and data if not.
(At least thats how they should work....)
If you set the top one the same as teh bottom one, nothing should try to use mobile unless wifi is not connected.
Could be a proxy problem? some operators set up a proxy, which can screw with connections.
samsamuel: Thank you for your advice. I´ve tried it - in both dropdowns I got "my work network", but no success.
I´ve found something interessting. When I turn on YouTube client (using WIFI), I can´t play videos. That should be ok when I got problem with internet connection. But YouTube client shows on the welcome screen preview of today´s added videos. So the question is why should application download preview of video, but it can´t play the video? I´m a little bit confused
Thanks for the suggestion, but I had tried that already and it did not work. I don't think it is just my cellphone. There are many comments re the HD2 that make it clear that it does not work with a Parrot handsfree carkit, Motorola S9 headset etc, and the 2 earlier posts reveal problems using WiFi too. It seems to be problematic on many fronts. I cannot even connect it using Windows Mobile via an USB port! And while I appreciate all suggestions it seems to me that this model is a (very expensive) lemon and frustrates huge numbers of owners. I find it odd that a 2 year old Nokia N95 can connect and browse instantly and a 'smart phone' doesn't work at all. I find it to be very gimmicky. I don't need twitter, facebook etc. I need voice dial, good PC software (like Ovi and PC suite) and bluetooth that works etc. The HD2 has none of this, but great graphics of a windscreen wiper, exactly the sort of pointless gimmick that reveals that the designers were interested in making a toy and not a useful phone.
I suggest you try and install "HTC_Wi-Fi_onDemand_by_Krocher". This program will always use wifi when available and stop the GPRS from connecting and will also keep your wifi on a stand-by. Please do read through the thread as you have to make sure that no programs using wifi are activated when you want it to be off. For me it solved several problems with wifi.
Second thought is to upgrade to one of the much more stable and already tweaked OS's. There are quite a lot out and you'll find everything about that on this forum as well.
Last thought, if it does not work it must be something to do with either the settings or the OS version as for others it works absolutely fine. These are complicated phones that, much like computers, must be set and tweaked to the correct settings in order to get the best out of them. If you just want a "buy and run" phone this is not the one.
Success,
Itamar
