Siements SX56 won't pick up a signal. PLEASE HELP!! - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

I have an at&t sx56 that is unlocked and being used as a Tmobile phone. The signal is terrible. Now I know Tmobile just flat out has bad signal, but this is so much worse than the reception I had on my last phone. Does anyone know if there are any antenna boosters that work and where I can get one if such a thing exists?

Signal strength at 48% from MyPhone anyone get higher??

I'm using an XDA (T-Mobile PPC with 4.01.16 and RSU 6.18.00). Using MyPhone software that I just started using today in my room I get 48% (average) signal strength. I do not really drop calls here so this is about the best signal I get because drivign around I drop calls and break up ALL day. I mean honestly, the phone might as well not even work if I'm not in my room. Now when I bought this phone (on eBay of course) it does not have tha black plastic that covers up the antenna and holds the stylus in place. Now I don't know if this is causing it but this things about as useful as a tin can with string for a phone. Anyone else get % like this? I'm in Florida btw. Let me know. Also, does the XDAII get better reception? TIA
when i used that free program which show it i would get 108% most of the time and places where the reception was poor about 48%
XDA 2 signal
im using that freeware too, my signal reaches 105% at high levels and 56% at low levels, below that it's RED already.
48% man, thats low, or maybe its a programming diff. between XDA 1 and 2, guessing.
could it be because us have more CMA and gsm850 covering then gsm 900/1900 ?
I'm dying with this signal. I'm getting ready to just straight chuck it out the window. You guys think it has to do with the XDA II and the different band? I was really wondering how people using an XDAI got reception. Perhaps this is just a bum unit, I'm not really sure. If thats the case its going right back on eBay and I'll pick up another one. Anyone with an XDAI have good reception? This is actually the worst reception I've ever had on any phone. And I had that ghetto MetroPCS when it first came out and I thought nothing could compare....but this is EXTREMELY terrible. I used the Nokia 3620 before this and it had great reception so this is a big change. Let me know...tia
are you having any issues apart from the signal measure tools saying that it's 48 ?
i mean if you can call and recieve calls without problems does it really matter what the program says ?
Yes that is the problem. I'm having horrible signal strength. This phone drops calls all the time, it breaks up if it does not drop them. The only time it works if you do not move. It certainly takes the "mobile" out of "mobile phone". Any other advice?
Signal strength
Have you tried upgrading your ROM, thry this link and have a look:
http://www.my-xda.com/downloads/xda2_upgrade.html
thomo: yes I'm using the newest rom available from T-mobile (4.01.16 I think). I was wondering if maybe I should try the unofficial RSU that is on yorch.net. Anyone else using this RSU? Can I revert back to an old radio if I don't like that one? I know radio upgrades are kind of risky business.

Just Got My T-Mobile Vario, Love It, But NO Service!!

I just got my cell this week and was dismayed to find out that the phone would get absolutely no service in my house. I was able to make one phone call, once.
Is there any product I can get to boost my reception from zilch to at least one or two bars?
I'd hate to part with this amazing phone...
unfortunately i have this problem also. I dont know whether its t-mobile or the fone but thats why i got a house fone.
hehe
Look for external antenna thread in this forum.
that would be tmobile uk
previously known as one2one or none2none as it was popularly called. i live in central london and their reception is still flakey compared to my vodafone connection

GSM signal sensitivity matter of S II

There was a problem with my SII. I returned it to Samsung and they made an upgrade to something they didnt tell me.
The phone now works as a GSM normal phone also. The reception is great. 3G and H is available as my previous phone

Thank you all
Dear all
After reading a lot the threads I decided to make this post. Sorry if this matter had been answered somewhere else for this phone.
Before I had a TD2, later a Nokia 5800.
I bought SII before a week
When I go to the places where I had GSM signal or 3G, I noted that with the SII the gsm signal is comperative with my old phones very weak (TD2 better than 5800), even not existing.
Many times I am not able to operate the phone at all since gsm is missing.
Seems like there is a lack of sensitivity to the gsm module of the SII.
I 'm using the factory 2.3.3
If you think that there is a software or ROM that can make more sensitive the phone please tell me so
Beyond that the phone is great
Seems that is only me having this problem
network??
is the gs2 on the same network as your previous phones??
take it back and say its faulty?
i dont no mine is a great signal except for where my network provider says it isnt luckily for me thats at home so no signal at home for me lol
Of course its in the same network, my home, my office is at the same place..... hopefully
The reception of SII lacks from 5800 which is worst than TD2,
The SII stopped recognizing the SD card....
So I returned the SGS2 to the service of Samsung. I 'm gonna take it back in a week.
Meanwhile I use my old Nokia 5800, which, since I go to the same places again and again it really has a much better signal and almost never looses the 3G or H.
Comparing to my damaged i9100 it has a much better reception in GSM.
I will let you know when Samsung returns me my phone.
Since I was looking a lot for the reception problem in the internet, mostly I read that there is also a low reception of the Wifi, which I didnt notice....

how's T-mobile connection in Chicago Area?

Thinking about switching to T-mobile in the SW Suburbs of Chicago; I'm on wifi most of the time, so data speed isnt important to me, but, we MUST have good phone call quality in our house.
Is this an issue for anyone in chicago land, or, if we get a phone that is "wifi capable", and we have a fast, strong, wifi network in our house, does this become a non issue?
We had ATT, which was no problem in the house, and recently switched to Sprint, with the hopes of a stong "Spark Network" here; well, one of our phones in Spark compatible, and works fine, but the other 2 phones are HTC One's, not spark "compatible", and have poor phone call quality and reception in the house. We are waiting on an AirRave front Sprint, but, if that doesnt work, we're ready to go to T-Mobile..
Sorry for this weird question here, but, I trust my buds on XDA to give a real report on stuff like this, NOT the people from T-Mobile
Thanks! :good:

Mobile network signal issue

So almost after 3 weeks of getting the TS I decided to put in my AT&T SIM. I was reluctant to use that tiny bastard screw driver but I did it anyways. I have noticed that the network signal strength of my watch is almost non-existant. It will get cellphone signal at only certain place. With the same sim card on my phone (Nexus 5), I get good cell reception.
How are others doing in this department? How's the cellphone signal? Is there anything I can do to improve the mobile network signal. Currently I am on stock with Loki's security patch.
I am not sure if this is a hardware issue or software issue. I remember someone opening the TS and checking the antenna. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
Some information on my TS -
North American 1/8
Stock ROM with Loki's patch.
Ok here is my observation:
I could not get signal inside my office, home and costco
I did get signal once I get out of my office - full signal bars with H+. I made a short trip from office to costco and home and back to office. It was able to get signals when I was driving but in some areas where I used to get 2-3 bars in my phone, TS did not pick at any signal at all. So mobile network signal is working but it is pretty weak compared to my phone.
May be it needs some tune up
i have the same problem, the signal is low and TS really has a hard time to find one,if its lost
can we do something about this ?
I opened mine just to have a look and found one of the connectors lose, took a bit of fiddling to get it back on but my network signal seems as good as my note3.
I don't know why, but after installing this app.https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.misonicon.signalbooster3g4g
The signal works perfectly, I didn't believe in this apps but now I don't know what to say
At least it works
Mobile frequency fluctuates on my end too, made sure APN settings are listed exactly like they say here on the forums, maybe I should change to another GSM 3G SIM card?
