I know the topic on cases has been brought up before, and after reading most of the posts none of them offer comments or suggestions on the type of case that I am looking for. I am looking for a vertical leather slipcase that does not have a flap over the top and the clip is fixed to the case but can rotate. If this type of case is not available, is there something close to it. Maybe one that has a flap with some type of magnetic closure.
Thanks for all of your comments and suggestions in advance.

I'm also looking for a vertical case, but have not found one that meets my requirements.
For now, I am using the Krusell case from my old Sony Ericsson P900, which is very close to what is needed and offers good protection.
The great thing about this case is that it has a clear window on the front, so you can see the display and use the phone without having to unclip or flip anything. It also gives access to most of the important buttons (I don't use the camera or voice buttons), the connectors at the bottom and the holes for the speaker are in the right place. The downside is that it is a bit too tall.
Sadly, the Krusell cases for the Wizard are either PDA style or do not give enough protection (I'm clumsy).
All the cases that I have seen so far are PDA style and not phone style.
I really do not want to have to unclip or flip any flappy bits simply to answer the phone.

Not sure if this is what you're describing but you might want to check www.seidioonline.com They have a "swivel clip holster" for the Cingular 8125.
Although this model is a Wizard (as far as I know) I'm not sure how closely the external surface contours match the other wizard models. This might be an issue with a holster such as this.
Hope this helps
i'm using one for the blackberry 7100,
fits your requirements.....

The case that comes with the K-Jam isnt as small as it could be so I would like to get a case that is a little more form fitting.
Has anyone looked at the leather case that pdair.com has for the k-Jam/wizard? I cant tell how it attaches to the K-Jam but I think its got a clear plastic sheet that fits in between the screen and keyboard and covers the keyboard. That is why I am reluctant to buy case. I had something like that for my PDA2K and I didnt like the plastic sheet in between keyboard and screen. It seemed that the screen would not slide so easily before using the case and afterwards the screen seemed to be loose and slide to easily. I dont want to mess up the tight feel of the screen / keyboard on this one.
If you know anything about this case or any other please post a response.
Darrin
I am thinking of getting one of the cases on theis page: www.krusell.se. I like the Horizontic style. The cases are shown under the ETEN m500 size but the m500 and K-Jam are about the same size.
The Krusell cases are well made and fit well, but they are not smaller than the stock cases.
Look http://www.krusell.se/product.php?productID=2089&category=16 or http://www.krusell.se/product.php?productID=2128&category=42 although the pdair and piel frama are the only ones that allow you to use the keyboard whilst in the case. I have the pdair.com one and it fits my needs (I am able to use the keybaord quite effectively with the plastic cover (it doesn't cover all of it); I have had the plastic 'crumple' a few times but this minor problem is more than outweighed by the benefits.
these flip cases look quite good

It looks almost identical to the PDAir one. Nice aluminium insert which works with their magnetic car holder. Since when did aluminium react to magnetism??? (I know the probably have a thin magnet insert btw)
Hello,
These cases are also compatible with HTC Wizard:

Anyone has one of them?

Do you have the book style (landscape-opening) or the flip style (portrait opening) model?
You don't find any problem with opening and closing the keyboard, with that plastic insert?
I've had the PDAir leather case (flip format -- hinge on the bottom) for several weeks now -- it works pretty well for the most part. It's a bit tricky putting the Wizard in the case; the plastic bit that fits between the keyboard & LCD has a Velcro bit on the end that's a bit thick for the space provided. Said Velcro piece attaches to the case via a tab that folds up over the right side, between the camera button & IR port -- unfortunately it covers the reset hole.
The case is a bit loose-fitting, which probably can't be fixed without sacrificing the ability to deploy the keyboard; AFAIK, it's the only case that lets you use the keyboard without removing the Wizard from the case. It's not as good as the Krusell I used with my BlueAngel, but it's good enough.
Hi I currently have the Krusell Cabriolet for my 8125, which makes using it like a phone very simple. However, pushing it out to use the keyboard without opening a bunch of progams because I pushed buttons in the process makes this a little suboptimal. I don't like the book cases or flip cases because I want my screen uncovered for my own convenience (I have screen protector film and I'm satisfied with that level of protection).
After doing some research, I like the simple styling of the crystal clear case for the 8125 (see links below). Because it snaps on individually on both sides, there is no obstruction to opening the keyboard, and there is no flap over the screen. It is not as elegant as a leather case and not as bulky or heavy as an aluminum case.
My only issue is that it doesn't appear that it is sold with a belt clip. From the photos, it appears that there is an opening to attach a belt clip. I checked the Boxwave site and though they sell clear cases with swivel belt clips on other models, they don't do with some, including this one.
So finally...my question is, does anyone know whether I would be able to purchase a belt clip separately or (1) does this particular case not support a belt clip, (2) it would not be advisable to use with a belt clip even if it was possible, due to design issues (e.g., snap on case not that durable or snug a fit and phone might pop off, etc.)?

Do these plastic cases cover the screen? It seems they do not, but it is not obvious from the pictures.
They dont' protect the screen. I have one for my mda, and left it on there for like 5 mins. It makes an already bulky phone bulkier. Plus it just feels cheap, especially when you're sliding the keyboard open and shut. But I got it for $10 shipped, so whaddya gonna do? Check ebay for cheaper prices.
(This was with the MDA case...but maybe the 8125 is made with some true craftsmanship so as to avoid these problems )
Thanks just what I needed
Just wanted to say thanks I have been looking for a case like this.
Take care
Cases don't fit 8125
Regarding http://www.daydeal.com/home.php?cat=2262, those cases fit MDAs but will not fit on an 8125. Although both have basically the same form factor, there are enough differences in the edges of the phones and mail/IE button locations that the case will not fit. I learned from experience.
This thread and a couple others have been very informational about different cases, and Im looking for some more specific information that I couldnt really find in that thread.
Are there any good custom fitted cases that dont wedge a sheet of plastic into the keyboard slide? Something slim and leather with a belt clip would be perfect, and I dont need to use the keyboard all the time. Of course there is the pouch which I am open to but if I can get something a little more functional that would be great too!
Your feedback and opinions appreciated.
thanks!
Evan
I kinda like this leather case.

It does look nice and similar to the PDAir one (which I have but need to replace). Unfortunately it doesn't have a belt clip.
I actually just bought this one:

I actually prefer the book style, but thought I'd try this.

Well I just got this today (VERY fast shipping!) and I'm going to send the case back. After having a PDAir case this one from PocketSolutions feels super cheap (its not real leather, its stiff as a board, and the flip style adds another inch in length to the phone). On top of that, the way it holds the phone does not feel very secure. With the PDAir I had no problem holding the phone in precarious positions as it won't come out of the case (unless the plastic flap over the keyboard was to completely break since its secured on both sides). With this case the plastic flap is just to protect the keys when its open (as it basicaly just lays across the keypad and the little extra tucks just under the phone when the keypad is open). When the phone keypad is closed it does hold the phone (but just on one side). I'm not comfortable with that design...
So I'll look at doing a return and switching it with the PDAir case and will probably stay with the book style like I have now. Very nice case, just thought I'd try something else (and cheaper) but not worth it (IMO).
I know questions have been asked. And I realize all have their favorite cases. I am suggesting this thread as a "clearing house" of cases that definitely work with the car dock. If users could post links (and maybe photos) of these cases, I'm sure myself and many others would appreciate it.
I'm about to ramble a bit, sorry if I get a little off topic here and there...
I generally stick with skins, because with my EVO thats all that would work the car dock. With this new dock, the Photon can have a smallish case and still work with the dock if the insert is removed. I like that forward thinking from Moto regarding this, and the design of the dock is way better than the HTC one for the EVO. I also like how the skin will protect from a lot of things but add no bulk.
I just got in a number of skins from Phantom Skinz, and applied one to my Photon today. Overall, I like the product. It does make it a tad hard to get out of the dock with the insert in, because the skin material has a slight give to it (a soft plastic vs rigid). I wish that they included a little spray bottle, like ones I got from Body Guardz. They say to get a cup of warm water, add a touch of soap to it and dunk the skins into it. its hard to get just right, i ended up having a bit too much soap i think and theres some bubbles underneath that I dont think will go away. The fit of these skins is great. I've used some that are just a hair too big, and they end up snagging on things because they overhang. the corners where the skin wraps around the unit did have to be tweaked a bit: i had to ttrim a little off and make wider v cuts to make sure it didnt bunch up. There is a skin section for every side of the Photon, including the camera section. it doesnt cover the lens, and the fact that they had a piece for it impressed me. I would recommend this to anyone who likes the skin style protectors, but only if you're quite patient.
http://phantomskinz.com/motorolaphoton4g.aspx
This thread is a good idea. I can tell you that the case and holster that is sold by sprint does not fit, but only slightly contacts the material around the connector. I may trim it to see if I can get it to fit easily.
I can confirm that the OtterBox Commuter does not work. Also, even the little cheapo hard shell snap together cases do not work.
Incipio Feather Hard Case for Motorola Photon 4G
Hi all,
I recently purchased an Incipio Feather Slim hard case for my Photon 4G and so far it does seem to work with the car dock, though I had to add a little foamy tape on the right side of the dock so the phone would sit straight when it is in the dock, incidentally I am not using the insert that came with the dock, the website is myincipio dot com.
Problem is, I cannot find a classy leather horizontal case that will accommodate the phone with the Feather case on; everything I have been able to find so far looks cheap and flimsy not to mention too small. I guess one real advantage to sticking with an iPhone is that the after market accessory options available are so vast that if one just keeps looking for what they want they will most likely find it. Anyway, my 2 cents.
TPU cases don't work
I picked up a "TPU" case via eBay (pic attached). It's similar to the silicone skins except the material is a little stiffer and has a glossy finish (which I prefer).
Without the insert, the phone does fit physically in the dock, but the contact with the dock connector is poor. I may need to do what h8zgray wrote and that is to put some kind of pad on the right side of the dock to help hold up the phone. I think I have some left over weatherstripping I could use...
For the time being, I'm using an Arkon Mega Grip mount in my car.
I found it ironic that the dock doesn't work with some of the "official" Sprint cases, like the gray plastic two-piece case.
I hope someone can find a good case that will fit.
Update: Another member posted a comment in another thread that enlarging the notch surrounding the USB/microHDMI port could help make cases fit the car dock. There's a raised area in the dock surrounding the USB connector. I took a second TPU case and enlarged the opening for the USB/microHDMI ports and that made the case work in the dock. The connection is a little loose but I think adding a thin strip of padding to the right side of the dock might help keep the phone and case stable. So the stock TPU case won't work without this modification.
