i was wondering if there was a way to listen to the .mp3 files from the bluetooth headset without using anykind of downloads? like if there's a setting somewhere on the phone that i can't seem to find. tia.
A2DP
Your phone will need to support the A2DP protocol. What phone do you have?
oh haha sorry, i didn't realize i didn't put what phone i have.
t-mobile mda.
thanks
The Wallaby doesn't support Bluetooth at all.

Neil.
Listening To Music Files Via Bluetooth Headset
Neilius, no offense, but your last statement was somewhat misleading. When you say the T-Mobile MDA does not support bluetooth, do you mean the technology or the phone does not allow users to listen to music using a bluetooth headset. If you meant the first, you are wrong because I use a bluetooth headset on mine. However, if you meant the second, I apologise. I am still waiting to see if anyone has figured out how to do it. Thanks.
Hi,
I'm absolutely certain that any phone based on the HTC Wallaby (which includes the original T-Mobile MDA) does not have any support for bluetooth whatsoever, it's not built into the hardware at all.
Just to be sure, does your phone look like this?

If not then it isn't a Wallaby and you're posting in the wrong forum.
T-Mobile have released other variations of their MDA based on other phones by HTC including the Himalaya (MDA II), BlueAngel (MDA III), Magician (MDA Compact), Wizard (MDA Vario), Universal (MDA Pro), Hermes (MDA Vario II) and Charmer (MDA Compact II). Since your phone has bluetooth it has to be one of these and not a Wallaby. Check out the Wiki at http://wiki.xda-developers.com/ to help you identify your device 100%
Kind regards,
Neil.
I went through the list from the website and it seems that both the Wallaby and the Wizard are classified as T-Mobile MDA. My T-Mobile MDA is the US version. I guess there might be a variation. Do you know if the T-Mobile MDA US version has a way for me to listen to music through my bluetooth headset? Thanks.
Hello, I have the T-Mobile MDA (Wizard200) and a BT Headset H700, currently I cant listen to music, but when I am and push the button of the HeadSet to input the voice command I can listen for like 5 or 6 seconnds the music. I dont have any voice command yet. Maybe thats why, any hint?
this thread should prob be moved to Wizard forum or the ppl looking for help should search or post the question there
as i doubt too many Wizard "Wizards" brows around in wallaby forum looking for people to help out

No horror story here Just decided to mod headsets for my Imate, the same way I did a while ago for my first unit. Now, I can really enjoy the music, those Sony Fontopia heads are amazing.

Have been wanting to do this but wasn't sure it'll work. Are you still able to converse on the phone?
Anything I should look out for - any tips or difficulty on rewiring Bro?
Thanks in advance Man!

I am not sure, sorry. What phone jack u are refering to?
@ID64
ok, but now tell which program you are using to listen to mp3.....
just get a converter
Hi
You've done a good job! At least you have the most original headset for xda!
I took a easier way. Just bought a converter to 3.5 jack
You can see it here: http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=113091
I was needing it also for a FM transmiter, so it was easier to buy a converter
media player ?

Hi there, i notice we havent got a forum for the new HTC Monet, released on saturday as the first smartphone TV!
It looks quite interesting as i spend most of my time travelling on the train in the evenings missing my favorite programmes.
Marketed by Virgin Mobile, looks like you get free TV if you subscribe to a phone package.
checkout the deals:
http://www.cheapest4mobiles.co.uk/display.asp?hs=700TV&network=&tariff=&gift=&phone=Lobster_700TV
it says i need a username and password to view that site??
Guess they changed the set up and moved that page to some other site.
(I got the same thing)
the link works now
its only a 'shopping' search engine....showing that virgin online shop is the cheapest/only place you can get it...
Here: http://www.msmobilenews.com/page/1479/

Thats strange, must have been a temporary glitch whilst the site was being updated.
there were a number of other deals listed the other day on that site and the Virgin Mobile one was by far the dearest option!!
Ahh..... they're back now, with deals way cheaper than Virgin Mobile! Free phone, Free TV reception and even 8 months half price discounted line rental now available at:
http://www.cheapest4mobiles.co.uk/display.asp?hs=700TV&network=&tariff=&gift=&phone=Lobster_700TV
apparently these are selling like hot cakes, and stock is limited.
An online review of the lobster tv

Putting my neck out here as I am about to have a google, but as the signal for the TV comes via the ariel (as in not using gprs or the like), is there any way to hack the phone to enable the TV to work without a contract?
(I do have a TV licence )
I dont think the phone has the circuitry to accept traditional TV signal, it rely on a digital signal that is (should be) encrypted much like a satelite tv signal. Getting the tv to work without a subscription is possible but it will be close to impossible for laymen like us. You may get more luck with satelite tv.

I thought that just because it was digital, it didn't have to be encrypted.
We've got a Toppy (freeview) and most channels are free (unencrypted).
...and it's not like virgin are providing any infrastructure for the tv is it (after the sale is made)?
HTC MONET is a Lobster with a Television?
the link works now...whereever you go,there you are!!
there is no signal wo have
did any one test, how it works?
Has anybody seen/heard anything about this?
Apparently MS are showing it off already and claim it works on existing hardware.

Id love to have this I guess the wait begins.
looks nice, but which bit of "Nope, it's not Windows Mobile 7 / Photon, " do you not understand.
This is WM6.1, not WM7!!
looking forward to it anyway. WM6 was a vast improvement in stability and function over wm5, and hopefully this will be more steps in the same direction.
If the linked story regarding the carousel UI is true, it might be the first major change to the basic today functions since pocket pc 2000! Much as i love WM and the sheer magnitude of the things i can do on it, the design does suck!
any one got more info on this...

Yeah, me...
It has been leaked out thanks to The Boy Genius from www.boygeniusreport.com
There are some (100) screenshots from a phone with WM6.1 (Motorola Q9).

Therefore, WM6.1 is only for smartphone and not for ppc. It's a WM smartphone version. (not touchscreen also)
If they release 1 ver. of it they will release all 3. Givem time..
yes wm6.1 is coming to ppc. it wont just look as good as the smartphone version. or atleast i dont think it will. we'll probably get everything except the home screen carousel.
Interesting
interesting topic. I would love to know if 6.1 will be available for ppc as well. and if so, how would it look like and is it worth the upgrade.

I've been trying ti get an Ameo for the longest. Is there any way I can get one sent from the UK. I know in the US T-Mobile doesn't even carry it. T-Mobile's phones suck over here. All the good stuff is on the other side of the world. Lol. Is there any loophole that I can slip through and get this phone for 50 american dollars?
Update on WM6.1
WM 6.1 has been released for pocket pc. I'm running it on my Axim X50V and it's extremely fast (with proper caching tweaks). It uses up less memory than 6 and they've added in a new task manager.
thats not really an update mate
we have been running 6.1 on the athena since aprl
Has anybody here had any luck using one of those credit card readers? I can tell you that I have tried the Square reader and Paypal here reader and both do not work with my Xperia U St25a ICS ROM. I am still waiting for the Intuit in the mail but chances are that it is not going to work either.
After searching multiple forums, some blame it on the hardware, but also some users report it working after changing their rom. Some users also report it working after an update from the software developer.
The issues seem inconsistent. I am thinking it can be a possible sound level issue. Maybe the microphone input from the square reader into the headphone jack is getting distorted.
What do you think may be the problem?
Update 10am:
I did an audio comparison with the square reader on each of my two devices. The Xperia U that does not read the credit cards in the software, and a Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet that does. I used Easy Sound Recorder as the recording app. And after getting two samples, I uploaded them to Audacity.
As you can see, there is a difference in sound output. The first row is from the Xperia U, and the second row is from the Thinkpad. They both produce the same pattern.

I attempted this with the Paypal here reader, but it seems to only work once it hears a certain sound from the actual paypal here application.
Update 11:45am:
I had my old HTC ChaCha laying around which also works with the Square reader. I found something interesting... Notice how the sound peaks more than the Xperia U. So I don't exactly think its a distortion issue. However when listening to the sound samples. The Xperia U has a very muted sound compared to the Thinkpad and Chacha, as if some of the treble was restricted. There is a sound of clarity coming from the Thinkpad and Chacha sound samples.
So my new question is... Is there a way to adjust the microphone levels to get this reader working?
My credit card reader of PagSeguro also does not work on my Xperia P
i know this is an old topic but i've been doing some investigating into this myself.
the difficult thing is two-fold. first, documentation on which android phones and tablets that have the TRRS 3.5mm jack does not seem to exist. i've posted the question in several forums, but nobody has yet to reply. So short of contacting every android manufacturer, i doubt i'll be able to get the necessary information to influence which device i buy.
second problem comes from these mobile cc companies themselves.
lets take square for example. here is their list of 'compatible' android devices
pretty poor if you ask me. in fact, the list of devices with problems far outweigh the list of devices that actually work! https://squareup.com/help/en-us/article/3887-features-and-device-compatibility
but even worse is "paypal here". they basically have no android device list at all but just offer a suggestion to 'try and see if it works!' https://www.paypal.com/webapps/mpp/paypal-here-compatible-devices
at least intuit gopayment has a decent list http://kbgopayment.intuit.com/intuit/index?page=gopayment_content&id=INF16030
another one that i found was from a company called magtek. they have several mobile cc readers, one called the udynamo. they too have a decent list, but mostly are just phones http://www.magtek.com/v2/forms/udynamo-compatibility.html
Solution?
Hi!
Maybe in this video there is a solution for this. I think that the problem is regarding the microphone sensibility.
Try it!
search at youtube this:
"Solucion problema comunicaciĆ³n mPos de TodoPago"
thanks!
Some sites say FM radio chip works in this phone, others say no FM. Anyone try nextradio or other FM radio apps? $1k is a lot to spend without knowing, And none of my local cell phone retailers have the phone for me to experiment with. Any input would be appreciated!
I can try but you need to provide the link to the app on playstore...i am unable to find any fm radio apps, they are all internet ones even tho they have fm in their name.
Note my question is for US phones. The NextRadio app is online here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nextradioapp.nextradio&hl=en_US&gl=US
Yeah its US model

Well, darn darn darn! Thank you! Motorola has an app too that works on moto g stylus 5g. Seems it'd work with the qualcom chip. But alas, I would have to find time to look for the app.
Sony's radio app from November (seems to be most recent) is here. https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/sony-...elease/fm-radio-8-1-0-4-android-apk-download/
Sony's online chat is terrible, or I'd ask them directly if the 5 IV has FM radio.
Anyone else have any luck getting FM radio on this awesome phone?
Doesnt work , it just closes itself
Thanks Viper. It's a shame Sony has abandoned their roots of over-the-air radio! My old X3V was the best phone I ever had, and it included FM radio capabilities. I very much appreciate your attempts here. I did reach out to Sony chat, and the person on the other end was "looking it up", "contacting the engineers".... blah blah blah... then ended the chat TWICE. Disappointing! Thank you again. If anyone else has managed to find an app that works, please post details!
You have to understand these agents are just random people trained to use templates as responses they hardly have any IT knowledge , i mean some do but its EXTREMELY rare. Its not sony i believe as those things tend to be outsourced and i actually know one company that probably does more then half big brands in US.
