flip top xda2s cases anyone? - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Accessories

are there any flip-top leather cases like the original one for Xda IIi?

Krusell makes a good one that I used with my BA.

no, not dat, the ones like Xda IIi where the magnetic seal is on top and drops downwards. The one you showed has the magnetic thing on the bottom.

Have you seen this case?

The case that comes with the K-Jam isnt as small as it could be so I would like to get a case that is a little more form fitting.
Has anyone looked at the leather case that pdair.com has for the k-Jam/wizard? I cant tell how it attaches to the K-Jam but I think its got a clear plastic sheet that fits in between the screen and keyboard and covers the keyboard. That is why I am reluctant to buy case. I had something like that for my PDA2K and I didnt like the plastic sheet in between keyboard and screen. It seemed that the screen would not slide so easily before using the case and afterwards the screen seemed to be loose and slide to easily. I dont want to mess up the tight feel of the screen / keyboard on this one.
If you know anything about this case or any other please post a response.
Darrin
I am thinking of getting one of the cases on theis page: www.krusell.se. I like the Horizontic style. The cases are shown under the ETEN m500 size but the m500 and K-Jam are about the same size.
The Krusell cases are well made and fit well, but they are not smaller than the stock cases.
Look http://www.krusell.se/product.php?productID=2089&category=16 or http://www.krusell.se/product.php?productID=2128&category=42 although the pdair and piel frama are the only ones that allow you to use the keyboard whilst in the case. I have the pdair.com one and it fits my needs (I am able to use the keybaord quite effectively with the plastic cover (it doesn't cover all of it); I have had the plastic 'crumple' a few times but this minor problem is more than outweighed by the benefits.
these flip cases look quite good

It looks almost identical to the PDAir one. Nice aluminium insert which works with their magnetic car holder. Since when did aluminium react to magnetism??? (I know the probably have a thin magnet insert btw)
Hello,
These cases are also compatible with HTC Wizard:

Do you have the book style (landscape-opening) or the flip style (portrait opening) model?
You don't find any problem with opening and closing the keyboard, with that plastic insert?
I've had the PDAir leather case (flip format -- hinge on the bottom) for several weeks now -- it works pretty well for the most part. It's a bit tricky putting the Wizard in the case; the plastic bit that fits between the keyboard & LCD has a Velcro bit on the end that's a bit thick for the space provided. Said Velcro piece attaches to the case via a tab that folds up over the right side, between the camera button & IR port -- unfortunately it covers the reset hole.
The case is a bit loose-fitting, which probably can't be fixed without sacrificing the ability to deploy the keyboard; AFAIK, it's the only case that lets you use the keyboard without removing the Wizard from the case. It's not as good as the Krusell I used with my BlueAngel, but it's good enough.

Question for people with leather cases

I found one on eBay, and I know a few people here have bought cases from the same seller. I'm just wondering about the practicality of the cover flap (see attachment) that hangs down during phone calls. Probably a shallow question, but I dunno how tough the leather might be; is it easy enough to fold the flap over, or do you guys just leave it hanging down?
you just leave it hanging down....
A top flip would be better?
Here's my venture into cheap ebay cases ..
HERE
Hi,
I bought a Krussell case from first2save on Ebay and am very impressed with it... I also have a horizontal case from the seller you mention but was never happy with the belt clip.

The beauty with the Leather case with flip is that it virtually eliminates the annoying mis dialing so easy on the HTC HD as the case has a hard protector that makes it touch proof
I have a Krusell Orbit Flex from which you can remove the lid; works perfect

The Best Leather Case Available for TouchHD!

I have been searching online retailers and local shops for a leather case for my Touch HD but to no avail, until I have found this in one of the mall in the Philippines while on holiday. I believe this is one of the best genuine leather case available for the HD regardless of the price. The best part of it is the price: Only USD15.00
The leather is not stiff but smooth and soft. The stitching is very well done. All phone controls and buttons are all accessible.
Check out the pix to have an idea how amazing this leather case is.
The pictures does not include the belt clip which also serves as headset/headphone cable organizer. Very, very neat!
looks good, do you know who manufactured it?

It's Capdase. They actually have cases for all other phones including, iphone, blackberries. I actually bought similar cases too for my Blackeberry bold and Nokia 5800.
I'm wondering whether this leather case could be made compatible with Krusell's Multidapt mounting system, so it could be used with their car and bike holder kits. Could you maybe give me the exact dimensions of the swivel thingy that I suppose gets screwed in the back of the case?
Here's the corresponding Krusell data:
outside-diameter (top 2mm): 12,5mm
outside-diameter (lower 2mm): ca 9,5mm
inside-diameter: 7mm
also, do you know what kind of screw is used?
here's a pic of the krusell belt kit (the swivel thingy I'm talking about is obviously the second from the left):
Whoooa! The last pic, where it shows th case being used as a stand raises it's value a lot
Where can we buy this product ??
it's very usefull

I believe it will not be compatible. I am at work now, I will post additional pictures with belt clip on and the screw itself. I have had Krussel before but it is not as well designed as the belt clip that comes with this Capdase case.

I bought this in a mall in the Manila, Phils. I have search the web but it is not available. Maybe you could try search "Capdase" in Ebay. Even in Manila, it is not readily available in most shops, you really have to ask for it.

I will try to post additional pictures when I get off from work. But I can assure that it still fits my front pocket comfortable without looking happy to see everybody ....I never use the belt clip and screw so that's helped a lot in terms of pocketability.

I use a simple leather case to protect my HD. Bought on ebay where you also get a screen protector with it what is much better than the original one.

Hiya guys. Just received my phone today.
I have ordered one of these Beyza SlimLine Leather Pouch Case.
Has anyone had one of these before, and what was their view of it?
Looking for a slim (protective) case, whether it be silicone or leather, pouch or flip-case, so that I can carry the phone in my jeans pocket.

I'd support that. Got the Bugatti SlimCase two weeks ago, and I'm quite satisfied with it.
PROs:
- Sturdy, quality leather case, offers good protection for the HD.
- Fixed belt loop. (yes there is a belt loop on the back - hard to see on some pictures). No clip that can accidentally slip off your belt.
- Slim fit: The HD's a slim device, and this case doesn't add bulk to it. Sits tightly against the belt, so no bulge at your waist. Comfortable to wear even under a business suit.
- velcro fastening: No chance of the HD accidentally slipping out of the case.
- Good fit around device: The HD fits in just right, and it's not too tight (so no unnecessary pressure on the screen).
- EasyOut strip, really easy to operate: Undo the velcro and pull the strip in one movement - hey presto, the HD is lifted about 1/3 out of the case. Couldn't be easier.
CON:
- Putting the HD back into the case is a bit more fiddly: The EasyOut strip gets in the way, or gets twisted. Not easy to do with one hand.
Overall, a really good belt-able case, and a real bargain too.
(I got mine from Amazon for ~ 10 € incl. P&P!!!!)
N.
You got to watch out for some of those cases on Ebay. I bought one for my X1i when I had it and because it was kinda tight ( needed breaking in ) it wore the paint down on an edge near the control panel. It was felt lined but the outer shell felt more like synthetic leather.
Krussel case here because of the quality and the Multidapt system, my last five cases have been Krussel so I have all the belt clips, windshield brackets etc. already.

Melkco and PDAir both make some for the X10 as well.
Another site you could use if you are UK side of the world is PodJunkie
I have just got a Gel case for mine from them. Cheap and fast service. I'm happy with them.

No belt clip on the slip case though. Too bad.
I just received the Melkco leather flip case yesterday and I am surprised that it is as nice as it is! The leather is soft and smooth with a nice rigid insert to protect the screen, the fit is good and uses arms that hold the phone on the sides and bottom so that it does not have an ugly border all the way around the screen. It also covers the cameral lense when the case is closed, which I always like because it keeps it clean and free of dust when the phone is in my pocket, and then flips down to expose the camera easily when you want to use it. It's this model: http://www.melkco.com/scripts/main/viewitem-SESE10LCFT1BK-SE10.html
I would have purchased the Noreve case because I love the quality of their leather but it did not cover the camera...

Actually, I received a Norève leather case for my X10 in June, as a gift, and I'm extremely pleased with it. It does come with a very solid plastic belt clip (a metal one is available as an option).
The case looks extremely good (mine is blue leather) and fit the phone perfectly, the screen cover is what's important to me (I lost my first two smartphones because of cracked screens). The screen cover, opened and flipped around behind the phone, also serves as a nice (and stable) horizontal stand.
No complaints so far, and it's already saved the screen a few times.
Has anyone gotten the Melkco Jacka Type leather case? It looks awesome and has a super low profile. Just wondering if anyone around here had anything good/bad to say about the Jacka Type cases.
http://www.melkco.com/scripts/main/viewitem-SESE10LCJT1BKIT-SE10.html
Thanks.
It doesnt look like the Melkco cases fully enclose the phone, just wrap around the edges. Would that be a problem or do you think the phone would still fit securely in the case?
no luck
I really like this case, but I discovered they don't ship to Romania, so I'm out of luck.
Anyway, Romania or not, I find that there are few cases out there, comparable to other phones - I'm thinking Iphone, Blackberry, HTC...
I wonder which one is better?

the first one seems to be of the highest quality of the three, but being generic (I hate to see pictures of another phone in the product's presentation) none of these allow access to the keys or to the headphone jack

Case selection for docks

Does anyone know of a case that fits both the nav dock and desktop dock without the need to remove the case? I see the docks come with an adaptor plate that is used with cases, but which cases work? Want a good case that doesn't add too much bulk to carry in pocket and maybe on belt but also goes in docks.
Thanks
You would need either a thin, silicone case, one of the invisible shield-type skins, or a case that doesn't have anything near the ports on top of the phone.
I tried the Otterbox commuter case (the thinner of the two) with an HD station in the Verizon store here. Removing the insert on the dock allowed the ports to line up properly, but the male connectors were not long enough to make proper contact. Removing the plastic, outer case may have helped here, but not by much.
Have you tested it with one of the silicone cases?
I have both the Mobi hard shell and the Otterbox commuter cases. The otterbox fit really snug in the travel dock and charges fine. The 2piece mobi hard shell case fits the travel dock a little loose but works fine also.
My friend has the otterbox commuter case working with the home dock. He said he had to remove a very little amount of plastic from the dock with a hand file.
I have the incipio two-piece case (hard/soft shell combo) that fits very well.

The Verizon high gloss silicone case fits both.

I can confirm both of these about the commuter series otterbox. Fits really nicely in the travel dock with the insert removed. I thought the otterbox was made for it it fit so well.
The home dock on the other hand is another matter. I think ill try what your friend has done as it seems the hard plastic piece seems to be the troubling piece. Ill let you all know what i find. Hopefully posting some pics later on this week.
I have the Boxwave Duo Suit they are also known as the Cimo-S case (they appear to be identical). These fit but you need to remove the insert from the dock.

The belt clip combo case that Verizon sales fits in the Navigation dock. At first I thought that it wouldn't work because it was too snug of a fit, but a few days later I realized that there was an insert that I needed to remove from the dock. After a little pry work, the insert popped out and it fits securely enough.
