Viewing Images why are they not very clear and crisp

Can someone please explain how to view images taken with a digital camera on your XDA. I know that these images (jpegs) can be uploaded onto your XDA but when I view them they are not very crisp and clear looking(as opposed to the original). Can someone please clarify if it is possible to see crisp clear images on the XDA? When I take a 3.2MB image and try to view this on the small screen of the XDA it is not very clear.
A friend informed me that when trying to view a 3.2MB image on a small screen that the image would be condensed and that pixels on the image would overlap causing the image to lose its original clarity. If this is the case I wonder what the ideal resolution would be on a digital camera to allow viewing of images on the XDA? Thanks John

The resolution is not the point ... XDA I adapter has only 4096 colors capability ... this impacts the quality of viewing ... the XDA II screen has 64K colors ... so may be it's the solution
I don't necessarily agree, I once used a sony clie palmtop and this had less than 4096 colours and displayed photos extremely well.

You probably just need a good viewer app that can do dithering.

Any ideas on what is a good viewer app that does dithering ?????
Cheers john
I'm using Westteks Clearvue, but there are a whole bunch of free viewers out there. I think you will find a few at www.freewareppc.com.

Try using photoshop or your favorite other image editor to down-sample tthe image to 320x240. The XDA will do this internally if the image is larger than that, but maybe it's not a very smart implementation (e.g. just throws rows away rather than anti-aliasing in the missing detail). Just guessing here...

Photo album app?

Is there any app that can help you make folders/photo albums visible?
Default album viewer isn't able to do that (it shows all possible pics on sd card) so i will appreciate any help from you guys.
I too am looking for something like this, found an app called 'justpictures' but i'd still have something more like the htc photo album
Better then album Thanks a lot dude

Try "Picture Folder"
This is best and simple
More along the lines of what I wanted, thanks alot
Are you serious ? On my Mini the pictures are blured (not sharp) on fullscreen view and when viewing with zoom the picture does not load, it is like apliyng digital zoom a small resolution photo. Well, sometimes on some pictures the zoom works and load the full resolution picture but it is slow.
edit: I have found that if i open an album in portrait mode and then turn to landscape mode the pictures are blurier and zoom is not loading 100% resolution photo. Maybe it creates cache for portrait and when turn in landscape mode it uses the same caches(thumbnails at 240x***?) and it looks blurier. For zoom that not work i can't find any excuses.
edit2: It looks like default Album is displaying photos in zoom mode 100% with fewer colors than justpictures. The gradients can be seen. maybe that's why is faster at zooming than justpictures.
floating image
I tried a bunch of photo album apps, and the best in my opinion is Floating Image. You can customize which folders you want (my photos albums are simply organised by folders/sub-folders so it's great for me) and the layout is superb. The only problem I have with it is that you can't zoom when vewing photos but I think it's because X10 mini isn't multi-touch : you have to keep pressing on the photo to bring up a menu and open the photo with the default vewing app and then zoom. Besides that, this app is the best.
I think this thread is posted in the wrong section. This should be in Themes and Apps subforum and not in Android Development
QuickPic is my choice for photos, shows photos in folders (can hide specific folders), very fast thumbnail generation, good quality.
What Do You Want Basicaly?
if You Only Want To hide some folders from default pic album than here is the solution..
create .nomedia file from notepad in your system if you dont know hot to create tell me
than place this file into the folder which you dont want to include in your picture album
all pictures in the folder with this file will not be added in your default picture album when you want to add those pictures delete this file from that folder via any file manager simple it is...
.nomedia is not a solution, because it will also prevent player playing music from these folders. Get Just Pictures for free from the market. It allows you to ignore folders you donĀ“t want to show up.
Fish Bowl Photo Viewer is my favourite viewer. It's fast and easy to use and lets you set the default folder to view.

you can use a file explorer

Viewing 3D pics

How does everyone view 3d pics on their PC's? I can't because of the file ext.
Change their extension to JPG, then open the file in irfanview or whatever you favorite photo viewer is. If you need to see the side-by-side images in 3D, horizontal flip them, then just cross your eyes until the two images meet in the middle.
thanks!

I'm using a free program called Stereo Photo Maker that another user on here turned me on to.

Works ok, but I haven't played with it much.

[HOW TO] 3D photo EDITING!!!!! UPDATED 2-26-12

For quite a while I wondered how to edit my 3D photos, not anything too crazy just things like adjusting the contract, saturation, etc.. By default it seems that our camera captures 3D photos in mpo format, which is not possible to edit as easily as a jpeg in a photo editor. HOWEVER, if you set the format to jps, you can now edit them in any photo editor that can edit jpeg files!! Apparently jps files are just jpeg files with the right and left images side by side. I have attached a sample I did, for upload I had to set the file extension to jpg because jps wouldn't allow a file size over 97kb?! Anyhow I did this one in PicSay Pro but you can of course get more creative and use Photoshop or my favorite, GIMP. It's VERY EASY to do and very fun. For the longest time I didn't know how to do this so I thought I'd post this info for the others like me that didn't know. I was able to open the file for editing without changing the extension from jps to jpg/jpeg, HOWEVER the photo editing applications if they don't recognize or allow you to save it as a "jps" file extension just save it as a normal jpeg/jpg and then manually change the extension to jps and you will be able to view it in 3D like normal on your EVO 3D. ENJOY!!!!!!!
UPDATE:
You can now even edit your MPO 3D images, from your phone, but you have to convert them to SIDE BY SIDE JPEG first, and you can use this great program to do it! Tobidale3D!
Here's how:
1. Install Tobidal3D.
2. View your MPO 3D image from the regular Gallery*.
3. Select SHARE for the photo you want to convert, select Tobidale3D, then select SHARE AS 3D*.
4. Press MENU, then select Parallel Stereo Format (see attached).
*Optional method: You can just open Tobidale3D and view all your pics with it directly then save from there, but I think using the gallery is easier.
Now you can edit the newly saved file as it's converted to a side by side jpeg jps file (it has a jpeg/jpg extension). The rest of the original editing instructions apply.
Awesome editor! I would recommend in addition to PicSay Pro, which costs about 4 bucks, you can use Pixlr-o-matic. It's free and works great and creates high res images, unlike some editors. The default native editor apparently saves in the exact same resolution as the original file. So that's another option if you want to keep full resolution and if you're happy with the editing effects offered by it.
I have attached a zip file with the original MPO file, the file converted to SBS, one edited with the native gallery editor (High Contrast option), then 8 images edited with Pixlr-o-matic. I have optimized the jps files using GIMP on my PC for the sake of file size for this thread, usually however the pics were about a meg in size each.
Hope you guys enjoy editing your 3D pictures!!!!!!!!
Awesome man Thanx....
Nice,I got some work to do now lol

Conversion
Sorry if it's off topic a bit (which it is, or I wouldn't say that right?), but I can't find the result I'm looking for ANYWHERE. I just got an Aiptek 3D Camcorder, and it takes pictures not in .JPS, not in .MPO, but a regular side by side .JPG! I'm trying to find an online tool, or application (I'm on a Mac but I could probably run it in CrossOver if it's a Windows app) to convert FROM .JPG to either .MPO or .JPS. The end result is I want to create a wiggle animated GIF so that I don't need glasses to show people 3D pictures I've taken, so if someone even knows of a process to convert from .JPG to an animated GIF wiggle that would be even better. Thanks in advance!

Rename the jpg files to JPS. Viola! JPS is the same as JPG just has the JPS extension to show it's a STEREO (S) Jpeg. There is an application for windows to convert stereo images here:

Good luck!

Snapseed/Google Photo mod?

Hello there and thanks in advance for your time and patience.
I'll try to be as concise as possible.
On the gcam you are able to select which type of grid you'd like to overlay to the photo (4x4, 3x3, and Golden Ratio).
I'm particularly interested in the latter.
The problem is that no official Google editing app allows you to crop an image using the Golden Ratio overlay (possibly in the 5:4 format), and neither do other famous apps (tried Photoshop, Lightroom, VSCO, Prisma and more) although the PC version of Photoshop and Lightroom does offer such a feature.
Is there any hope I/someone could modify the Snapseed apk in order to get such feature? (or is there already an app that does this?
No one?
