This guy has a cradle at 11 euros in hong kong he also sells trough ebay.
With tranportation I got my for about 22 euros.
Regards,
Be advised that the cradles offered by eXpansys, Brando, and others lack both external AC power and a spare battery charging slot.
I bought one from eXpansys based on bad information, and I'm pretty much stuck with it (it's not worth paying the shipping to send it back for what I would receive as a refund).
The lack of external AC means that if you shut off your computer, you also shut off charging.
The lack of extra battery slot, well, that's just a huge PITA!

It might be worth getting a power adaptor with a usb output. I received one with my fortuna clip-on gps. Along with my usb car adaptor, this means I just need a usb mini cable to use all power options, and also to sync the phone.
ie keep the adaptors where you need them, and just carry the usb mini cable around. It turns out this is a much tidier charging solution than I ever managed for my old p900.
Also, Be adviced that USB charging is way SLOWER than AC Adaptor Charging!
If you have doubts, record the time it takes to fully charge a battery or simply check the differences between the heat it makes when u connect to a USB charger and AC charging(which is HOT)
I got a dock from ebay - like the expansys ones (etc) it only charges through the USB on the computer. However, this suits me as most of my day is in front of the machine and even when off (as I use a docking station) the USB is still powered and hence charges the TyTN.
Wrote a small review here: http://rakh1.homeip.net
Rich
Rich, is it possible to plug in the Tytn charger cable into the back of the cradle and use it as a stand-alone charging station ?
I have the brando one, and I can use it via USB charging or by ac power.
Its uses the same connector in the back
Finally received mine today (the Brando/eBay one).
For some reasons, it syncs much slower than just using the USB cable??? :?
And the bright blue LED is constantly on... which is a bit annoying.
tytn cradle I had it.

Hi,
I see on MobilePlanet they have 2 types of cradles available for the 8525:
- http://www.mobileplanet.com/p.aspx?i=143228
Which one is better?
What are any differences.
Thanks,
Alan.
One clearly has an extra battery slot.

I don't know anything about the second one, but I have the first one right in front of me. Some information:
- detachable USB cable, which means it can't charge the device if not connected to a PC
- does not come with a power supply. It seems the design allowed for a socket for an external power supply, but the hole is blocked with some plastic part. I would think there's probably a "de luxe" version with an external power supply.
- good build quality and finish
- extremely poor fit for the TyTN's shape. Almost looks like it was intended for another device. There is no "guidance" for the TyTN when you put it in, so it's quite difficult to get the USB connector into the socket. And when it's in, the USB connector carries most of the TyTN's weight, as the bottom of the TyTN does not make contact with the cradle. I fear this will wear out the TyTN's USB connector rather quickly...
Personally, I would not buy it again.
Cheers
Daniel
it will be good to see a landscape crade with audio out (3.5mm). Mr Gadget in australia has a nice jasjam cradle in landscape and it comes with a dedicated stylus in the crade - but no audio out.
Beware of the cradle from BoxWave, I just got one.
It comes with a A/C adapter to mini USB for charging and a std USB for sync. You can use one or the other. I got the version that has the spare battery charge bay. I also purchased the Std Battery replacement for the 8525 from them as well.
The Cradle has a Red/Green Charge light and a Blue Power LED. My Blue LED was blindingly bright for a few minutes, then it began to flicker like a candle. now it's pretty much out. The charge lite seemed OK, it charged the Boxwave battery and went from steady red to green.
The boxwave battery was thicker than stock and caused the rear cover to bulge a little. I'm not happy and am returning it.
The Stock battery, if inserted into the cradle charge bay, causes the charge light to blink a fast red, Fail? Even though the battery is charged and new. So I'm returning the cradle as well. Too Bad....
Got the boxwave one myself and must agree don't bother.
I sent them an e-mail asking if it can AC charge and SYNC at the same time.
THey assured me it could.
It can't.
I also can't seem to get that across to their people... they still assure me it can and mine must be defective.
The binking lights are majorly anyoing, way to bright. And it is a pain to get it to fit right.
Just got one of the Expansys models above, the one with the 2nd battery charge bay. It fits the 8525 perfectly and seems very well made. It has seperate mini-usb connectors on the back for A/C adapter and Sync.
It also has seperate A/C and USB indicator Leds on the left side and a BiColor LED on the right for the extra battery bay. I tried a charger on it and it charges both battery and phone, A/C Led is On, the USB is Off. I tried a USB PC sync cable and it syncs and charges both batteries, the USB Led is On and the A/C Led is Off. I plugged both USB and A/C into the base, and it appears to still work normally, the A/C and USB Leds are both ON.
So it looks like it will work as a sync cradle on the PC and still charge batteries with the PC Off.
It came with no instructions or cables/adapters so I don't know if plugging both A/C and Sync in is completely OK.
It is a nice little base but for $42 I would have liked some accys and instructions.
Just wanted to double check.
You are saying both a USB and AC connect at the same time on the Expansys model (ones in first post?)
Wanted to make sure before I wasted more money.
Yes, the version that has the 2nd battery bay is what I have;
http://www.mobileplanet.com/p.aspx?i=143228
This model has two rear mini-usb connectors, and I plugged my Cingular 8525 charger into the cradle's mini-usb port labeled as charge.
I also plugged my PC's USB sync cable into the cradle's sync-mini USB port labeled sync.
The cradle seems OK with this. There were no instructions or warning labels telling me "only one at a time", and it's working.
Also I wanted to mention that the charge bay pins are all gold versus the BoxWave which were plain silver. Much nicer quality.
do there exist any battery chargers that are not cradles? I don't need a cradle. But I need to be able to charge my spare battery when I'm travelling. I'm not going to carry my cradle while flying around. But I don't see any battery chargers for sale, I mean ones like we use for our camera batteries. What's the deal?
also, are there any standards in batteries within HTC? or does each model use a different type of battery

thanks for the link... for $10 US Dollars, its worth trying out...
i received the charger and - so far - it appears to be working very well. one plus is that it has a USB cord that allows you to use your laptop or a cigarette lighter adapter to charge your battery. it also has the built-in prongs to plug into the wall. certainly a good investment (so far)...
What? I thot the USB cord was to use it as a USB charger for the actual PDA? Ur saying it can charge the battery from a laptop too? Sounds good. Now if only my TC would actually get delivered to me...

yes, the charger came with a USB-to-USB cable so that i can use the charger from my laptop or any device that supports a USB connection.
I use this one...
http://www.boxwave.com/products/versachargerpro/index.htm
It has a car charger, wall socket charger, airplane charger all in one!
it has modules for american and european plug outlets as well
It's a little expensive but well worth it, cause it basically takes 3 different pieces and combines them into one
I'm waiting for that one to arrive as well, actually my TC is so delayed and we get it until next month...
But I thought the battery charger was also capable of being used as a charger.
anyway, as for the aeroplane charger I've never been on an airline that has a charging socket. Maybe you need to be in business class?
Yeah, only a select few airlines have the chargers in the seats...but either way it's good to have something like that when it's available...BTW, how much did you pay for the spare battery?
I also bought that Battery Adapter PRO thing from boxwave...it looks pretty cool, it uses AA batteries in a box to recharge your phone, and it says it can sustain 5 charge cycles from one set of batteries. Looks kinda cool. I hope to receive that, and the cradle I bought from them tomorrow.
Not enough power to charge direct to the phone.

I have tried to use the USB charge direct to the TC, but It cannot provide enough power to charge direct the Phone:
USB Travels Charger:
Input: AC 110-240v 50/60Hz
Output: DC 4.2V 350mA (Charge the second battery)
Output: USB 5.0V 800mA** (I tried to use this to charge my TC)
HTC original wall charger:
Input: AC 100-240v 50/60Hz
Output: miniUSB 5V 1000mA**
However, If you only want to get power from notebook or car to charge the second batter, it's OK.
Actually 800mA is OK to top up, but only if your batt has say 15%+ left.
My battery is on order, HTC official one for 29 pounds.
I wonder about the ebay ones for US$5, but I've been burnt on a camera batt once, brand new off ebay, canon packaging $20 vs $40 in store, max charge was like 20%...
Tho now I think of it 30P is a lot...

Agreed...10 years ago ebay was an ok place to buy stuff. Now its truely buyer be ware. I never buy electronics from ebay, what a junk yard. Buy straight from the vendor, you get what you pay for...
So, bought the following cradle from DayDeal's ebay store:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350284094212
The product description says the following:
* Custom-fitted Docking Cradle
* USB connection/charging cable
* AC power adapter
* Stylus
Now the issue is with the second line. What is NOT explained here is that the unit when plugged IN to a wall jack AND the sync charge cable is plugged in to your computer, the sync/charge cable gets no more power from the wall jack and wants to get it from ONLY the sync/charge USB cable. All of this leads to the unit being grossly undercharged and therefore, complains that there is not enough charge coming from the power source and that you need to shut down and therefore the whole idea of a wall charger is useless after this.
WHY would a sync/charge USB cable which by the way is physically attached to the unit and cannot be removed, while the wall jack plugs into a proprietary mini-USB cable. I know it's proprietary because I tried first to use the wall charging cable that came with my TP2 from Sprint.
So, I'd recommend not buying this cradle unless you want to do what I'm doing now, have a USB sync/charge cable dangling from the unit and NOT plugged into the computer, but instead only plug in the wall charger and sync and data transfer via USB which is what I was doing before except now, I have a cradle to do it in.
Not a good trade-off to me. I bought this specifically to be able to sync/charge FROM the cradle.
One last thing, don't think about using the cradle if you have a skin or a hard case on the phone. The connector is so flush with the back of the charging stand that if you try to put anything BUT the phone into the stand it can't connect.
EDIT: December 5, 2009:
Been in touch with the vendor. They are going to swap out this unit for another one. They say that the unit doesn't do this at their site and that this one may be defective. I'll gladly swap this one out for one that works as unstated or at least expected. I'll post when I've gotten the new unit if this is actually a defective first unit or if this is the actual way these units work. And, I'll also try this on multiple machines so that I know it's not just my home desktop.
Another bad cradle from ebay DELUXE CRADLE W/2nd Battery Slot FOR HTC TOUCH PRO 2
When AC plugged in and USB to PC the PC USB sucks the power so the phone charges slow or not at all. Also doenst seem safe for the USB to send the power back out to the PC from the cheapo AC plug in this cradle. When used as a standalone charger AC only it sometimes fails to charge, about a 50-50 success rate. Stay away from it.
That's good info. It is the exact cradle I bought, but i bought it just for charging. I have not used it for connecting to the PC yet, but i needed a cradle that had a slot for a battery in it too.

That the one I have as well. I also have not use it for my computer.. All I really wanted was a cradle for my nightstand that had an additional battery charging slot as I also bought some of those $10 200mah batteries to try (have not received them yet)

I purchased this cradle and my complaint has to do with the USB cable that is attached to cradle. I need a long line to reach back of my PC. This attached one does not reach unless I want to view the phone from 5' away! Very disappointed. I've only had it a few days but didn't know this, sanjsrik:

It does seem slow to charge but I'll run a couple of tests to confirm.
Hi guys, does anyone here know where to buy the US adapter part of the charger? I am speaking specifically of the piece that goes into the charger. The two pronged plug insert itself. Here is a link of an item on ebay that includes the adapter with the charger.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/US-USB-Wall...ccessories&hash=item3a742ee563#ht_3518wt_1018
So ideally I'm looking to spend less than $9 (otherwise I can just buy above item and keep the charger as a spare). I don't want to use an US adapter on top of the Hong Kong one on my tab because it becomes way to bulky and would not fit the outlet near my bed. I'd need to use this outlet as its most ideal.
Thanks in advance for any replies.
EDIT: I'm going to post this in the galaxy tab 10.1 forum as well just so it gets more hits. Its a bit dead here with respect to there.
I think you'll have an hard time getting just the pronged plug...and that's 9$ with shipping included, so maybe it is better to just order the full charger.
...but you made me curious...
Contrary to my previous GT-P1000 charger, the charger on my new 7.7 (European edition) does not feature a USB socket on top where the USB plug then goes, like the one on the Ebay link. Instead, it features an integral cord coming out of the charger (a stand-alone USB cable was also provided in the package for PC connection purposes)
Do you mean that the US version features the much more practical "charger with USB socket + USB cable" solution?
This is important to me since I figured the chargers had been changed from model to model on account of a technical imposition (the cord end from the charger, on the tab side also features a different, slightly longer plug, when compared to the GT-P1000 one)
If it is the case that the charger format is optional, I will jump and get one of the "old" ones as the previous arrangement (charger + separate cable) is way more versatile.
XK
The US version charger is a usb charger adaptor. Also, it has the front plug portion changeable for regions if you have the fittings. I'll take pictures when im home

Hi all!
So I just got the DK30 and I like it!
No problem at all docking and charging but I took it to work, connected to the computer USB and it is not charging. I thought it would charge, slowly but charge..but no go.
So I guess I will be bringing a surge protector extension tomorrow to connect the ac adapter to the DK30.
My other question is USB cables. I want to get a longer cable so that when I am gaming I can still charge via the usb port (since holding the magnetic one in place will not be possible).
But from experience, another thicker cable I got, only charges at 400-500mAh at best which is not enough when gaming.
Anyone has found one that works like the original?
Thanks!

No the dock wont charge off USB. Its stipulated in the manual.
USB out are 5v... but most are only 500mAh so the charge will not register on a docking device
Any cable thats magnetically sealed so to reduce power loss, will work. Depends on the manufacture process. A cheaper cable probably wont be very effective. Branded cables are usually better, but its hit and miss. I have a Samsung 2m cable that came free with an older digital camera, and it still works very well. But not sure on a link or anything to provide you with to buy one.
I am getting a good cable now , 6', it helps me when gaming although I realized I can for the most part game with the dock station attached and it does not fall lol..not very comfy for some games but works.
