I am trying to install .net 2 SP1 into the extended rom, but it fails.
I tried to install an app to extended ROM this also fails.
Can you install to the extended ROM? how ? is it advisable ?

By Unlocking & Unhidding it, erasing the contents (or part of them if u want) and using it as an "extra" storage space.

No if you don't know the consequences this will have after a hard reset. Yes if you know what you are doing.
I wouldn't recommend doing that if you have a microSD card available.
what would you advise regards installing .net framework 2 into the extended ROM ?
Also I used fit5cat Hermes tweaker, so I can see the extended rom, not sure which of those other steps I still need to install to the extended ROM.

I haven't tried it.... but I think you should better install it on the main memory or the SD card when possible.

Does it unlocks the ExtROM or just unhides it ? Try if you can copy a normal file there using the explorer.
What about moving some .dll files to Extended ROM? Bad Idea? MemMaid gives you this option, and one big one is HTC3GVT.dll which takes up 1.6MB of memory, but I can imagine that you would not advise trying to move this to Extended ROM?

yes, but cabs you put there won't install after hardreset unless they are signed.
So i guess the cab that disabled that necessity for signed cabs doesn't work for the hermes?

Hello,
For my new ROM I was working on creating apps which could be directly run from Extended ROM, but the thing is that my programs need subfolders (where should be located resource files) and I didn't find how to create subfolders in an extended ROM image.
Can anyone tell me if it's possible to create folders in an Extended ROM image, if yes then how to do it?
Thanks a lot.
Yes it is possible, you may do so by exploring via activesync or by file explorer on yr PDA.
Of course, your extended ROM has to be unlocked before you do either.

But what I would like is not to modify my Extended ROM but to create an Extended ROM image that I could package with my ROM.
At least you confirm that it's practically possible to create folders in extended ROM!

I have a SuperCID phone with the ExtROM unlocked and unhidden using HTweakC. I can create sub-directories/folders at will. No problem.

Yes but as I said, I would like to do it in an extended ROM image, not on my phone.
Or... is it possible to create folders in extended ROM on my phone without SuperCID and to dump the extended ROM on my PC?

That is what I was thinking... build it on the phone and then dump it.

i want to create my own rom for the xperia x10
what programs do i need for that?
and can i modify an existing rom? want to understand how making roms works first, so my question is if i download a custom rom, can i modify it for my personal purposes? for exampe by removing some apps...
thanks for ur help
Taking out apps is easy.. use titanium backup. Ifyou want to mix them use a kitchen. If you want to build one use linux and download google source and edit.

How can I deodex my HTC Aria?
It's running CM7.1.0 RC1.
I wanna install themes that need Zdunes' patcher, so yeah.
Thanks in advance!

All Cyanogenmod ROMs are deodexed, so you don't need to do anything.
It doesn't seem that way, because when I tried to use zdunes patcher, it couldn't find anything and told me my rom was odexed.

In an odexed ROM, there will be a matching odex file for every apk file in /system/app. For example, there will be both Browser.apk and Browser.odex. In a deodexed ROM, the odex files aren't there -- just the apk files. Feel free to check your ROM yourself to verify.
Ah, it seems it's not odexed...
Thanks, but do you have any idea why I can't patch? Do I have to run as administrator?

That is like asking if you have to be rooted. Well, if it requires root (quite likely), then yes, you would have to allow it.

Since I know literally nothing about this "Zdunes' patcher", I really can't help you there.
I'm sorry, but I still don't understand what's wrong.
I'm plugging my phone into my computer, turning on USB storage, running ZDunes Patcher as admin, and it still says my ROM is odexed...

Have you tried reflashing your rom (or flashing a new deoxed rom)?
No, I'll try that...would I have to wipe?

Only if you are flashing a rom other than CyanogenMod 7.

cyanogenmod is fully deodexed. There is some other issue with the utility you are trying to use, and it's not giving you an accurate error message.
Hey i just rooted my phone. And I wanted to replace system files. I downloaded ES File Explorer, gave it the Root access and tried to edit a system file. But it won't allow me to. I even tried to modify read/write permissions but that was also denied. Tell what to do ?

Yes, with custom ROMs, almost system is rw, so you can make changes. But my suggestion is that you should know exactly what r u doing with it, since making changes on system is not a safe thing when u not sure.
Hi is this true? there is no way?
I got same problem: can root by Magisk & installed TWRP on stock firmware but I cant edit/overwrite system files
So is there any way?
