wallaby backlight - no control to raise display brightness? - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

Hi I have updated my wallabyXDA 1 in ROM kitchen - works great but now have no control to adjust Brightness of LCD what am I doing wrong.

Used my Wallaby not for a long time, but as i remember right there wasn´t any possibility to adjust the brightness of the device with any ROM. Could be that it have done by any external program....

[IDEA] Brightness Control for AUTO Brightness

I figured this would come along by now but for some reason it hasn't. On my iPhone I could set my brightness that the auto brightness would adjust accordingly. Because the auto brightness is generally too bright or too dark. Also maybe adding some timing controls for how long before the auto brightness adjusts. The displays in these devices suck down the battery like crazy this would help significantly.

I too thought we might have seen this by now. I know there have been some tweaks in ROMs, but a slider that sets the sensitivity or the upper/lower limits would be excellent.
u talking about this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=708660

Extended controls has an Auto Brightness setting, same as Froyo Power Control widget.
What OP wants is auto setting where you can control sensitivity of light sensor.
Ok I'll try explaining again. Communication isn't my strong suite. Basically, on an iPhone you can set auto brightness, then under auto brightness checkbox you have a slider that calibrates the brightness throughout the range of the ambient light sensor. So it's still a brightness control it just works in conjunction with the auto brightness setting. Being able to fine tune the brightness throughout the range of the ambient light sensor would be a bonus because with the current auto brightness I can barely see the screen in daylight but it's not maxed out because I can still adjust it all the way up with the power control widget and the opposite is true at night, i could go dimmer at night and still see the screen clearly. Strictly copying the functionality of the iPhone wouldn't fully address this. An app would be ok I suppose but I'd much rather see a system mod. I really hate apps like Trackball alert, nothing against the author I just don't like running an additional app to address the lack of a feature in the OS itself.
Good thought
I agree completely. I'm a recovering iPhone user and the adjustable auto-brightness is a feature that I desperately miss. One of my top complaints about android.
This idea is fantastic. It's something I've been thinking about too (never knew iPhone has it though)
When indoors I sometimes find auto brightness too bright. When outdoors and its sunny sometimes its upper limit is not bright enough. In both situations I have to turn off auto.
Actually last night I noticed that auto brightness was dimmer than the lowest brightness setting. I reckon that a lower/dimmer threshold should be available too on the manual brightness settings.

[Q] No Auto-Brightness Setting in 2.1?!

I just installed Android 2.1 and rooted it. In the brightness setting there is no longer a selection to choose the Auto-brightness setting, just a slider for low and high brightness.
Also I noticed the Power Widget that has the brightness control switch lets you switch between low, auto, and high, but while in Auto (the dimmer setting while the button is ON), the sensitivity is very poor and will only brighten the display by about 10% while moving from a very dark environment to a very bright environment.
Yup, i agree. This sucks. Although i had forgoten how nice everything looks with the brightness turned up. All the same id like to have it back.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
cant expect everything in 2.1 to be perfect. Yes it has taken them a while but i wouldnt expect it to be without any flaws!
At least we got it finally. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT

I thought this today too but the Auto Brighten IS there and still working, just a bit differently.
Initially you choose the 3 levels of brightness on the quick select from the 5 widget icons. This is the brightest it will go, but if you go from a dark or light room it DOES indeed still adjust.
I noticed this after a bit today just standing in the kitchen watching the movers do their thing at my old place. The sun was ducking in and out of the clouds and the auto function was working fine. I tried it in all 3 modes, the only one it doesn't do anything in is the least bright mode...the one I noticed it most is the middle bright mode.
So YES, it is indeed working, just differently.
The auto Brightness sucked in 1.6 anyway. It was never that good for me. I use a brightness widget to adjust it.
I much prefer the way it works now. Seems to be a lot more user friendly tbh
have you tried the setting in spare parts (from the market)?
I've not tried it myself, but I know the auto setting is there.
Auto birghtness
Hmm. I have the 2.1 update and I have set the brightness to the low setting in the power widget. The brightness still adjusts automatically, and I don't want it to. I want it to stay at a low level all the time to save my battery. How?!

[Q] Automatique screen brightness setting

Hi every one,
In the dark, the brightness is a bit too high and I'm obliged to set via manual mode to minimum not to be disturbed with tomtom by night.
Do you know a way to change the coefficient "light sensor" / "screen brightness"?
I think that following application could help you. I have the backlight set to 10% (minimum) and use the autobacklight-toggle to set the autobacklight feature on (during day) and off (min. backlight) at night. Both in just one tap.

i would suggest taking a look at "lumos"

[Q] Wanted Feature: Really Low Screen Brightness (like found in the alarm clock app)

Hi everyone,
I have been testing a lot of different custom ROMs for my X10 but so far I have not come across a single one that 1) support the advanced CM backlight settings successfully allowing the backlight to be set below 15/255 2) any market app that would achieve the same thing i.e. lower the backlight to lower than what is achievable through the normal settings slider. Screen Filter is not good, it only lowers the color brightness but the backlight still burns your eyes. My HTC Hero supported the CM settings and it is the only thing i miss after my transition to the otherwise glorious X10.

Display brightness control

I have just updated my s2 ti 4.04 every thing is fine but brightness. Control in taskbar is not
Not working any more, what should i do is there any wayto vet back that option...?
Hi
I use Custom Auto Brightness: it's a freeware that allow you to tune your brightness.
It greatly improve the brightness management.
Lux is working excelent
