BA bluetooth stereo headphones: works but poor coverage - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Accessories

Hi All!
i managed to connect to my blueangel my new bluetooth headphones (using Broadcom Corporation BT-PPC AV.cab).
blue angel W/mobile 2003se
bluetooth stack 3900
headphones: brand DIGITUS mod MBSH-CS3.2
obv both devices fully recharged
now...
in the range of 30 cm headphones work well...
between 40-50 cm it begin to skip... bluetooth connection status states that conn intensity is "sufficient" within 30 cm. 2 o 3 more cm and drops to too weak.
conclusion is that i can't listen to music while keeping my pda on the belt.
you know it i have to change
1) headphone
2) pda
3) software or else...
4) modify the bluetooth antenna to make it more powerfull
thank you,
GC

THB kit MOD - bad audio quality via CAR_AUDIO-R / L

Hi,
yesterady I recieved my XDA IIs and a THB handsfree cradle for it.
As I noticed that the THB device is only Mono ( the TEl-In at my car stereo is mono too :-() I decided to do a littele modification today. I added a wire for the CAR_AUDIO_R to the connector and added a stereo-out to the THB cradle that now goes into the AUX of my car stereo.
I also added a switch to switch from "normal handsfree" mode to "just AUX" mode. The switch disconnects the IN_CALL, Analog GND and the CAR_AUDIO_L from the THB handsfreeset and connects it to the stereo-out (that is already connected to the CAR_AUDIO_R) I added.
I installed the special wavedev.dll that THB offers so every sound is redirected to the 22 pin connector if the XDA is in the THB cradle.
So far it works as I expected:
If I switch the switch, the radio is not muted anymore when the XDA produces a sound and I can here MP3s in stereo via my aux-in on the car stereo.
The downside:
The audio quality !!! - the signal that comes from the 22 pin connector seems to be pretty poor. I already installed the BASSBOOST plugin (which did improve the bass) but compared to my brothers pretty cheap PNA the sound still is pretty poor.
So my questions:
Any hints to improve the sound?
Are there any software issues (I am not sure what ROM i use ATM because I first wanted to get the HW part running _ is is some unmodified O2 UK ROM).
Are there any hardware improvments I can make here ( I saw that the homebrew Car kit in the wiki part does not just connect the audio pins but adds some electronics there- can that help or delivers the CAR_AUDIO_L/R bad quality in general ?!
Thank you for your help.
Let me know if what additional information can be usefull here and sorry for my english.
Best regards
P.S.: I am looking for the quality because my initial plan was to add also an ASUS WL-HDD with all my music on to get rid of burning CDs and be able to copy the music I want to hear from my desk direct into my car via WLAN.
Hi
The bad audio quality problem was talked about many times in past.
Still, there's no solution. Simply, the bottom connector audio out is designed for GSM Voice only. THB modified wavedev.dll to route all audio to bottom connector.
That's useful for eg. sat-nav, but not for high quality music.
Another problem that ocurred in my BlueAngel during DIY car-kit research, was the IN_CALL signal.
My BA doesn't provide +5V on IN_CALL ever ! Regardless of phone state, CAR_ON state etc...
Unfortunately, I don't have an original THB carkit to test my BA on.
I'm not sure if my BA's IN_CALL signal is dead or something else's wrong :/
Can You at least tell me what ROM version do you use in your BA ?

Two bluetooth devices at once - gps and audio headset

Is this possible? I am trying to decide what gps to get - a wired sucker and cradle type with gps built in and a connection at the bottom of the BA, or a bluetooth one.
I use a bluetooth headset as well when driving you see...
All advice appreciated.

These are what I am looking at buying.
I see you were asking about the Blue Angel, that I can't answer you unfortunately, but I'm using the Magician with BT GPS (Swedish BLUEi device) and the Jabra BT330 headset simultaneously in the car, chatting on the phone while finding my way with Tomtom 5. Works like charm! Since I haven't been using the Blue Angel I don't know if it's using the same BT stack (Microsoft's own)
I use the Brodit active holder and hooked up a little cable-splitter charging the GPS and Magician through the same +5v USB supply. The GPS is on top of the dashboard with the discrete wiring down to the splitter. Had to modify the GPS to make it startup by the ignition, phew...
Anyway, hope this could be of any help though... cheerio

To answer, i'm using Qtek9090 with headset, while bluetooth activesync. And when i'm in my car, i use my bluetooth gps with my headset at the time with no issues.
joebongo...
to answer your question - yes you can use a bluetooth headset simulataneously with a GPS receiver. This works because the connection on both devices is establised on seperate I/O channels hence there is no interference. Globalsat BT338 + tomtom is a worthwhile combo trust me..
hope this helps

No problem here connected to a Fortuna Clip-on BT GPS and a Parrot CK3000 with my Blue Angel. It was recommended to me to get the GPS and phone connected before the starting the car (which starts the car kit).
Thanks for the replies.
After I discovered the same popping on mp3 playback, this BA went back to the O2 shop (second one I have had), my contract cancelled as it was in the trial period, and I am now waiting for the universal (XDA exec, MDA Pro) to come out in a couple of weeks.
See you there.

FM transmitter for TyTN

Hi,
My Vario II justification to the misses was that we'd be able to listen to music in the car with it (our CD player is dead).
Has anyone come across an FM transmitter that you can power from the car cigar lighter and plug directly into the mini usb socket on the TyTN?
Cheers,
Steve.
I'm looking for the same thing
I bought a SONY MEX5000 BT stereo that uses Bluetooth streaming. It is so cool! much better quality(sound) then the radio ones. I dont carry CDs anymore just everything over BT with MP3s.

and how to connect ?
--> no way @ this moment ...
Try Nokia HS-12W. Google to see how it looks like.
It is a bluetooth Stereo Headset which you can listen to MP3 played from Tytn.
It is also a standalone FM Radio by itself without the Tytn at all.
I have one, cool.
Hi and is there a bluetooth receiver taht one can plug into a stereo ?
HS-12W is a Wireless (no wire between it and phone) Stereo Headphone via Bluetooth with Build in FM Radio.
What I meant about the bluetooth reciever is if there is one that tha pda streams music and is recieved by a device that can be plugged into the home stereo, same principle as a headset only differance is that it'll go to speakers.....hop I made it clearer this time... or maybe it's that I am not gettin it jaja
You are refering to Home Stereo Hi-Fi Amplifier/Receiver to speakers. Well it is something I was thinking about some years ago when I first read the white paper on Bluetooth v2.0 A2DP Profile.
But Hi-Fi industry in term of following latest trend is normally a little slower than the computer & mobile industry. So far, not that I know of that there is a build in Bluetooth Hi-Fi system including speakers. Maybe it is time to do a google on this topic, it would be good if there is such solution to get rid of the messy wire connections.
I do know that there is such thing as Bluetooth Donger, which is a bluetooth device with a headphone jack and you can plug the headphone jack into the Hi-Fi headphone jack and bingo you have wireless music with you wireless headphone, but bluetooth is quite subject to surrounding interfence, so you may have broken music in your ears.
The is also some not so good old technology using Infra-Red. The better ones are the wireless headphone sets using RF frequency which you can listen to music even you and your hi-fi are in different room.
Hope I got your question right this time.
Hey CWKJ,
Thanx for your reply. Look at the following link:

It's a bluetooth speaker, but what I am looking for is something that can make any car home stereo into a bluetooth reciever...
You mean something like the Tunestage II for the iPOD?
http://www.techdigest.tv/2006/10/belkins_tunesta.html
I'm looking for something similar that will plug into a car stereo - i.e. a bluetooth receiver which will plug into the external input of my car stereo, so I can stream to it from my TyTN - anyone know of anything?
PS Yes, I have seen the Parrot MK6000, but I don't think its out until Q1 2007....
BINGO!! Yes like this, only that you don't need the transmitter (tytyn would be it!).
check out the I-Tech S35 clip. A2DP receiver with a 5mm headset jack. You can cable this to your car with an adaptor cable. The I-Tech doesn't skip either!
Yes! this seems to work! jajaj do you actually use it? or know of someone that has used it with this purpose?
Once again thank you for your responses!
I've not used it myself for this purpose. I've no doubt that it will work though. What I am interested in is the usable range. The applicaton I have in mind will require 4-5 meter range from the I-Tech device to my TyTN.

Ok, you are talking about car hi-fi system, the speaker looks good.
For Home hi-fi system, maybe there isn't bluetooth audiophile speaker yet.
For the car hi-fi system, there are some with the audio output (the Left - Right or White - Red cable build-in type audio output cable). Buy another cable adaptor (Left - Right/White - Red to stereo headphone cable) and the Bluetooth Donger, connect them up and you will have the audio on you bluetooth speaker. Hope this works!
Hey! look at this:

Sony always has great product.
November 18 in Japan? If so, wondering when it will be available in other parts of the world?
I already found some for sale in ebay!! wow!

Jabra BT320s stereo handsfree

Wondering about this for my TyTN
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/11702.htm
I have that one and it work like a dream with my computer but on the tytn i dont get so clear sound, i have conected i to my sonyericsson k800 and it work really nice with good sound,
i guess when the tytn get uppgraded rom it will work wery good there to.
i love the 3,5 conecter on it ican connect to anything i want
thats a shame that it doesnt work well with the TyTN, have you enabled the A2DP tweaks at all??
i have the blueant one ..even goes thru walls, etc...
It WORKS PERFECTLY with the tytn ... and it comes with a 3.5mm transmitter too (great for connecting to the home stereo, etc)
I have the TYTN A2DP hack and it sounds perfect ... highly recommend the blueant
the x3 blueant doesnt have the AVRCP buttons if the webpage tells me correctly...im after something with A2DP and AVRCP such as the jabra BT320s or the HTC S100 when its released

I also have the Jabra BT-320s and used it with my TyTN (Hermes). When using it as hands-free headset, my problem was that the volume settings of the phone switched each time I connected/disconnected the headset between sounds on / sounds off. Sometimes it even switched to sound on but with volume set to lowest level (=off). I can also confirm the problems when listening to music - the connection breaks up sometimes.
Did anyone experience similar problems? I don´t have those problems with my Jabra BT205.

I have found my Jabara BT-320s to be problematic so far on my Cingular 8525 aka Hermes.
The stereo and remote controls work ok, but sound quality is fair at best.
But I cannot get the handsfree to work. Seems to work, the stereo cuts out but the caller cannot hear me or I them.
Got the Moto S805 (DJ Headphones) and they work great.
I hope it is just a rom fix for the Hermes to get the Jabara to work but I think it is a Jabara problem and I don't think the BT-320s is upgradeable.
Good Luck,
D
I bought a Jabra bt320s to mate with a HTC P3600 (Trinity). I struggled to connect it to my PC (via Jabra a320s USB dongle) and with the Trinity.
I had a few problems with the bt320s connecting to the Trinity:
1. Mono (not stereo) sound using WMP. Found this registry hack in other threads ---> Set HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Bluetooth/A2DP/Settings/[UseJointStereo = 0] (was 1 decimal).
2. WMP stalls briefly from time to time. From the same thread:
HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Bluetooth/A2DP/Settings/[BitPool = 45] (was 30decimal).
HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Bluetooth/A2DP/Settings/[MaxSupportedBitPool = 45] (was 30 decimal).
3. When handsfree to phone, the bt320s cuts out as ix666v2 describes.
I tried a hard reset of Trinity in case there was a conflict with other software. This didn't help. I then found an undocumented way to reset the bt320s and that fixed it. It is now working well for all functions. To reset the bt320s:
a. Turn off the bt320s.
b. Connect and disconnect the bt320s to its charger 3 times leaving it on the charger for 3-5 seconds each time.
c. Delete the bt320s partnership on the PDA
d. Pair the bt320s to the PDA again.
Big thanks to all others on this forum and other forums for their help.

Some phones don't support music through a bluetooth headset. Last phone I had that supported this was either my Motorola Razer v3m or Samsung Instinct s30. I have a Motorola H500 earpiece myself.
Find out if your bluetooth headset supports A2DP profile, I'm using SE MW600 and Photon is able to stream music to it.
I have s305, perfect! H680 is not supported, sorry!
I can easily stream music to my bt and my car's stereo.. so might be your bt that doesn't support it because the Photon does.
The headset is definitely the problem. It doesn't support media audio, and most headsets of that type don't.
A2DP has to be a feature of the blue-tooth head set.
My Photon streams good to my Jawbone Era / Jambox and most of the time its ok streaming to the deck in my truck.
Go into your Bluetooth settings and select and hold down your finger over the Bluetooth device and a box will pop up. Double check your options selected. However I don't think your headset supports a2dp.

Per Motorola, incorrect. The H690, which replaced the H680 only does calls, not music. If you look at the Motorola Silver Elite, that will let you play music.

Motorola s9-HD Stereo bluetooth head sets on new egg for 29.99 or something like that. Almost 100 off retail, they should good and the battery lasts me all day at work. Never had a problem pairing on CM7. The s10s are little more, but they have bad reviews, and they say the s9 sounds better.
Figured i would throw this out there.
