Hi all.
Just flashed my daughters buggy Orange ROM Hurricane to the Russian Qtek ROM found in this forum.
Can anyone tell me how to get it to display in English, if it is possible? Or do I need to flash to a different, English-only ROM? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Sjraar.
Sorry I misinformed you all by mistake. The Russian ROM works perfectly, but whilst I can change the language to English UK or English US via the Regional settings, everything becomes English (Menus etc) all text, except when you try to type a Note or SMS, then all fonts are in Russian.
Received SMS is in English, but I don't know how to change settings for the keboard/dialpad to be English input. I assume there must be somewhere in registry to change that, but i don't know where and what value to change.
Otherwise the ROM is perfectly stable and totally unbranded!
Anybody know what reg values to change? Any help will be appreciated plus it will give us all a clean, unbranded ROM in English!!
Meanwhile, does anyone still have a copy of the SDAII ROM? I've searched through the entire net (slight exaggeration!) but to no avail. Someone must have it or know of a download link that actually has it, and by that I don't mean the www.iris-crap link to Blue Angel ROM update.
Anyway, here's hoping.
PS. On the Russian ROM, all installed applications still read as English, actually everything is in English, except what you input/type yourself.
If anyone has a direct (working link) to the german ROM (SDAII), that would be better also as they use fonts more in line with the English ones, which would overcome the illegibility of Russian fonts in SMS or type/input.
Hope this helps.
There should be a way to turn it to English right? What if U turn local settings to English, and not just the language? Perhaps that would change it? I tryed it on my C550 (turning it to language English, and Local to Russian, then the date showed turned up in Russian... Maybe the other way arround it would do the same?

hmm, might look interesting Rafet, but I'm sorry to say I can't make a word out of what is been said on these pages...
Perhaps you could translate it for me/us? Thanks!
Yes, it does look interesting. It also looks like a Turkish version of the T-mobile ROM! Wandering if we'll experience the same problems of not being able to change the language with this ROM too. At least the Turkish fonts look closer to English than the Russian ones.
Oh yeah...changed all settings to English, but that hasn't affected the fonts when inputting data or receiving SMS's.
Still looking..but may give the Turkish ROM a go and will post my findings. Thanks to Rafet for the download links and Sjraar for your reply/intersest.
Eureka!!

Thank you very much Rafet. Your link to the SDA II ROM worked and so does the ROM, which I am happy to report is "ENGLISH". All's well with the world again and my daughter loves me again.
The update/flash ran smoothly and quickly and whilst branded with T-mobile stuff, the ROM seems ok. Will report back when [email protected] been extensively tested. Thanks again.
Don't how I came to this idea, but when you placed the russian rom on your device, did you turn-on T9 input for sms? Don't know where I read it, but perhaps that was the problem...

Hi again Sjraar. No I didn't initially but have tried it since flashing it with the ROM, but 'twas no use. It all remained in Russian.
I am however happy to report that the T-mobile ROM is much more stable than the previous Orange ROM that the device came with. No problems there at all.
My prophet is O2 XDA neo in German. I tried to change the language to English with the setting in regional setting as you said, but failed. nothing happened. are you sure that you just made some change in regional setting and then everything showed in english, including Menu?
Qtek ROM = No-go for me!

Yes jackeyz. All i did was go into regional settings and changed any and every option that related to English UK and the menus and allmost everything else ended up in English. However, as I stated previously, anything you would type/input into the phone would result in Russian which I can't read and any incoming texts/SMS were also appearing in Russian, so I gave up after searching for answers and coming up empty.
Like i said, the T-mobile ROM works perfectly and since having flashed it, my daughter has reported no problems at all. Hope this helps a little, but the Qtek ROM was a no-go for me.
Keyboard Language vs. Display Language
Gents, thanks for your suggestions - you've helped me to solve the issue I was fighting with for 2 evenings on my HTC Diamond.
Assuming that English is available on all devices "by default", try the below options (good luck):
a/ Initial language installation (e.g. Russian) => Russian Keyboard
- irrespective of Regional Settings change, this setting allows to retain special local characters/keyboard
- keyboard can be changed between Russian <-> English upon activation (e.g. during writing SMS)
- this set-up doesn't seem to impact Regional Settings (display language)
b/ Change of Regional Settings into English - Keyboard, Location, Language
c/ under Settings -> Personal -> Input Method -> Options, turn off “System Localization" – this setting seems to block activation of English Display and to revert Regional Settings into the Local Language, irrespective of any other changes to the settings
d/ upon synchronization with PC, suggest maintenance of the same Regional Settings

Hi,
Last week I bought O2 Xda II (IMEI:351938003270010) from Taiwan and this product include Rom Chinese Language which is difficult for me to understand. So would any one please tell me if it is possible to change this Rom language from Chinese to English Language and if that possible how can I do that?
Pleassssssssse heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
we can trade, I don't mind mine in Chinese
Thanks baboyako, for replay put I still want to know How can I change the Language.
:?:
the language can only be changed by changing to a rom of the desidered langauge
Thanks Rudegar, and I agree with you that the best way to change language it can be by changing the rom, but I heard there was some people upgraded their O2xd II by other Language like from German or France Language to English Language.
So, I am look forward to hearing good news about this subject.
by changing the rom
or
by 3th party software which
1. hack the rom replace the hardcoded text in it to text of another language
2. capture text when display'd and translate it to the other language ?
the 1. would require the hack to know all texts in the rom and possibly all programs in the extented rom aswell
2 would also have to know all the texts to have translations ready and it would require extre cpu time making the device slower
are you sure they just dident upgrade their xda to a rom with a different language ?
it does sound much easier
Thanks Rudegar,
And I am very happy to charring me this problem, and about your qustion, last week I tried with my friend to upgraded my O2 xda II by English Language (UK) rom upgrade, but did not worked and always gave us massage Error Code 120.
Regard to a 3th party software is not free and I will try to buy it as soon as possible.
and do you Know any other free program can help for changing language instead of 3th party software and do you know some one has an experience at the same problem?
I've done that job serveral times. Just get the ROM you want, use ER2003 to modify it then install.
if it's the country code error then this thread is about that

Hi hungdu,
Would you please explain step by step how did you do that ?
Hello,
I received my Qtek 8500 recently and it has many T9 Languages, but no Portuguese. Can anyone help me install Portuguese T9 on it? Many thanks,
Alan
If you don't already tried, you can see http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=56710
It's for tornado/faraday smartphones but maybe it's working also on the star trek.
Thanks. Unfortunately, I saw that yesterday and tried it but it did not work. Maybe we need the file extracted from the ROM of the Star Trek...
What about flashing the i-mate Smartflip WWE ROM on it ?
I have it and it has Portuguese T9...
Just my 2 cents.
Ciao
At the moment it is not possible to flash the iMate ROM to the Qtek because it is CID locked. But maybe you could give me the Portuguese files and I could try to install manually without changing the ROM. It is simple. Please add me to your MSN and we can work this out hopefully. My MSN is [email protected]. Looking forward to it. Thanks!
Alan
Help Needed
OK, I received the files from Mix (many thanks, man!), and tried to add the T9 Portuguese, but it is not working. I have it as available now, but when I input anything, nothing happens. The procedure I followed was the one posted by Ronswens. Maybe for the Qtek 8500 there is a different procedure. If anyone can help, please do. It will be much appreciated. Thanks,
Alan

Just a question: did you unlock your device, or is it still locked ?
I don't mean SIM locked, but application locked !!!
Please, have a look if you can move links within "\Windows\Start Menu" and its subdirectories...
Otherwise it would be anyway difficult...
And/or maybe there are some other references within the registry that could prevent you succeed...
Just my 2 cents...
Ciao (and good luck...).
Hi Mix,
Yes, I do have the phone application unlocked. I used HTC Registry Editor to change the value of those 2 keys and then I ran the SDA Application Unlock executable. So I believe it is fully application unlocked. Just for the sake of it, I tested moving the shortcuts from the Windows\Start menu as you suggested and I had no problems in doing it... So I believe we have to find out what else is necessary... But thanks again for your support! And congrats on the Fifa World Cup!
Alan
Michele,
I think I am closer now to the problem. I tested with Spanish and it worked. However, it does not work with Portuguese no matter what I do. But now we know that I am not making any silly mistakes on my side, and that the problem has nothing to do with my phone being locked, etc. All the languages that you sent to me seem to work, except Portuguese... It seems to me that the Portuguese files are somehow corrupted. Since you do have Portuguese T9 on your device, may I ask you to please try to use it and see if it is working? Let me know the results. Many thanks for your help!
Alan
alanbr , hi !!!
You are from Portugal right ?
Where did you buy your Qtek 8500 ? have you managed to fix the problem with T9 PT ?
And do you know if your QTEK 8500 allows firmware updates from QTEK ?
Thanks...
By the way can you leave me a PRIV MSG with your MSN ?
Thanks again.

Sorry for the delay, but YES, they do work on my Smartflip...
I did not know any word of Portuguese, but I tried to write "Quero" and "Buscar" and it perfectly reported those two words among some others which I did not recognise...
I suppose then it works... ;-)
Sorry giving you such bad news... but you asked for it...
Ciao
Help alanbr
Hi!,
Could you send me the spanish files and the process to install it (hotmail: [email protected])?.
I have the same problem.
Regards
Sorry for bumping an old thread up, but did anyone managed to properlly install the T9 files in Portuguese (Portugal) for the Qtek 8500?
Edit:
I fell stupid! When I was writing an SMS I pressed the * button and a T9 menu appeared where I could select the portuguese T9. There's no mention to this on the user manual (as many other features). You can even configure other T9 settings there and even add your own words manually.
T9 .cab files needed
Does anyone could provide me the T9 .cab file for this ? Could I use this file in my O2 Xda Stealth since I can not write SMS or anything from the keyboard (Physical pad) and I would like to do this.
Thanks

We need someone to download it and post a link.

Sorry, no WWE or EUR version available; only a NOR ´(Scandinavian).
It may be russian rom but I would have no worries. My Qtek (w original rom, bought new) have set Russian as a default text input but all the menus were in English (it was after hard-reset), it includes (and I hope this newest rom is the same) Russian, English and some other lanuages (mostly European).
In this Russian rom it is possible to include English language and other languages Turkish Polish Slovak Czech Romanian....
Many thanks IvanShow. I have uploaded/backup the rom on rapidshare.com (it will stay there long long time) if someone would have problems with downloading from rapidshare.ru.

Just to clarify, when we state, 'It is possible to include English' does that mean that I can go Start -> Settings -> (0) More -> (3) Regional Settings and change it to English easily Or...Does this mean I have to hunt down an English CAB file? I just need a solid, it easy or hard.
You need no other CAB, all languages (including English of course) are in the ROM already. All you need to do is just to check and correct the Regional Settings.

You are the best. Thanks for the quick reply.
Now off I go to flash a Cingular 3125.
Newer than QTEK 3.6.251.0?
Is this new? rom just a Russian version of QTEK 3.6.251.0.
Is this new?
03 12 07
Flashed it yesterday. Other than the languages it seems to be identical to QTEK 3.6.251.0
So, anybody flashed this rom yet?
And if you did, can you confirm that it includes an English language option?
I think there would be no problem converting an english device to a french device with the good rom, is there a french rom available I could flash on the english htc touch pro to get a french unit ?
thank you
You could attempt to get Bell to give you a french device - they do have them.
Found this on HTC's forums:
The only way is to cid unlock the phone, flash a new Hard Spl, find a rom in your language and reflash the rom. While this will change the language of the rom on your phone, it will also void any HTC or carrier warranties that may have come with the phone.
Look here to get started.

Is it that inconvenient to use the English device? Is the user if not yourself that much of a francophone?
I live in Ottawa, mostly french family and they all use English devices. So I know where you're coming from, but still..

HTC S740 - rom with polish language - where I can find ???

Standard HTC S740 edition from HTC has polish language support. Check your settings...
Or you can use the ROM from Orange, it has no customization but it has Polish too.

That's really odd. My Rose has all languages support in standard...
You can't change firmware yet, since there is none HardSPL. But there are done some works to make it. For now you must use what you have...
Any news on the topic?
Hi creams! I think the question has been answered - RUU_Rose_Orange_UK_1.17.61.2_Radio_sign_12.29.30.0 9_0.29.30.22_Ship.exe contains Polish language (check the thread with official ROMs). If your device is from different provider, use HardSPL and then flash the ROM. After first bootup (takes up to 10 minutes) change the language in Region settings and then restart as requested by the OS. Works like charm apart from the fact, that I can barely understand what the translator meant I really prefer using it in English...
