I-tech Clip R35, bad sound quality :( - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Accessories

So, It works ok, no skipping issues, but the sound quality is subpar, even with the bluetooth regfixes. Hard to describe, but there is a hiss or more like a high pitched whine in the background, and it sounds tinny.
My sony ericcson ds970 worked a lot better in this respect, but does it works good as a handsfree set on the tytn? on my previous phone it did not.

Isn't that a bit of a letdown I wonder if the S35 has the same problem...

Mr
Well, it'd be interesting to know if others have the same problem, and if people are able to fix the ds970 skipping issues, because it's sound quality is good.

I got the ds970 to work handsfree I even mapped the voice command to it and works like a charm, I still do get the every 30-50 second skip in audio.

Mr
So, how bad is the skipping?

it's a one second skip every 30-50 seconds on mp3's,
doesn't skip during voice calls (at least I haven't noticed any)

Mr
Tell me when it's fixed or when another as good headset comes out

I've used the S35 with my XDA IIi (Alpine), MDA Pro (Universal) and XDA Mini S (Wizard) and on all three I can say that the audio performance is excellent. I suffer no skipping at all.

Yes, it's skip free for me aswell, the R35, but the soundquality is pooor

This must happen on the songs you are playing, or you are an especially keen audiophile.
I am listening to Vanessa Mae playing Minuet (WMP) as I am typing this on PIE with my Dopod 838 Pro... there has been no skipping so far and the music I am hearing has no hiss nor is it of poor quality as described.
In all, I think this R35 has been a good companion on my travels so far, giving hiss free and distortion free use, works as a stereo headset as well as voice headset, with my Dopod 838 Pro, and I can even replace the ear buds with ones I prefer, which is a lot more than can be said of existing competing products in the market.
But then again, I am no audiophile and my ears are old, so the lack of quality may be undiscernable to me.

It's not the songs, and I'm not that much of an audiophile, the stock miniusb headphones sound good enough, maybe you could compare with them?
The r35 sounds much much worse than those.
What rom? do you use btw, I could try yours, I don't know if there could be differences between individual R35s.

Personally I find that my R35, combined with sennheiser MX500's, gives as good as the built in headphones. I also find that I'm getting good range (circa 5 metres - less range if air isn't the only intervening material - although skipping/noise increases with increased range).
I used the bluetooth and audio mods recommended on the tytn wiki.

Also have the r35 - have to say that on my headphones and in the car (via mp3 jack) there is a bit of a tinny sound. On the stereo system in the house, however, it has a much better quality...

UPDATE
---------------------------------
Enabled joint stereo again, set quality to 58, reset and repaired the R35, and voila, rather good quality, no skipping.
It's still a little bit noisy and tinny, but it's good enough, I'm using it with the excellent Creative 630 in-ear headset, good for better bass reproduction. Maybe some tweaking in pocketmusics equalizer could do it good.
Anyways, happy for now, let me know when something that improves a2dp comes out!

Where can i purchase an R35??? (hopefully a Black one)

Ebay baby.

Do we know when the HTC S100 (almost the same thing) is going to be released?!?

I also got the itech R35. Got it working fine, no skipping etc. All buttons work fine with WMP.
But I also noticed the poor sound quality. I apply the registry tweak:
[HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Bluetooth/A2DP/Settings]
Add new dword, Value name=BitPool; Value data=58 (Decimal)
Add new dword, Value name=UseJointStereo; Value data=0 (Decimal)
My registry does not have the Settings folder under A2DP and I created it manually. It also does not have the UseJointStereo with the original value data=1. I added this one manually too.
Anyway, after adding those registry tweak and reset my PPC, no sound improvement at all. I also repair the PPC with the R35, and no improvement on the sound quality at all.
Any clue?

So you wouldn't advice me to buy them...Well the problem is I have ETYMOTIC 6i Earphones and I would like to use it with TyTn...I know there should be out an adapter for this...any suggestion?

anyone that has a good sound quality with the itech R35?
I only use it now in the car to connect to the car stereo AUX input for receiving phone calls.
asci, other BT adapter that also has the normal 3.5mm audio output is the Globalsat BTH-820. Never tried it, so I do not know the sound quality. But from what I read, its not the BT headset/adapter, is the MS BT Stack that cause the poor sound quality.

Best outside of ear BT stereo headset

I am looking for a great BT stereo headset. I've had people say mixed things about the Sony DR-BT30Q. I want these for the gym, so the in ear ones are kinda out of the question, as when I sweat those kind tend to fall out of my ears and I have to constantly push them back into place. Thanks for the help.
The Motorola HT820 is nice. AVRCP works (as long as you're using the right player) and there's barely any skipping, depending on your A2DP settings in the registry.
i love my ht820s ive recently just set them on Hermes using the skipping solved patch but ran them on Magician for ages.
they have great battery life a great price with excelent sound.

Motorola S9 or Sony DS970?

I am really struggling with which ones of these to get. My main criteria are sound quality and length of battery. I know the Sony has a display but I am not sure how well this works.
Any informed advice/ opinions welcomed before I make the jump.
am assuming when you say "sound quality" your referring to your mp3's right? and any other stereo audio feeds?
i have tested the s9 and its good! and cool too! but to be fair, i have not tested a ds970 so i would not know the difference.
hope this helps.. and btw, im using a jawbone if it you would ask.
Thanks for the info. Well at least I should get good sound. I have a Jawbone as well but it's definitely mainly suited for talking to people in noisy environments & not my mp3's!
I think I will go for the S9's as they're a little cheaper (c. £40) on the Bay.
Thank you!!!!!!!!
The DS970 has severe skipping problems with my TyTN.
I also have a Motorola S705 that have no skipping issues, but the sound is not quite as good although I use it with Sony headphones that should be at least the same quality as those delivered with the DS970.
Got the S9's in the end. I am not disappointed. They sound wonderful but I had to change to the bigger ear buds that came with it to not only improve the sound but also the comfortableness.
Out of the box they were almost painful in my ears after a few minutes. Now everything is very good. Great Bass and very clear sound. Nice controls for next/previous track etc. Slight negative is that for voice calls only one ear is used but I knew this already. Voice call quality is adequate.

Average quality bluetooth headset

Hi Evry1. I am after an average quality bluetooth stereo headset for my HD. I love music and like to listen to my favourite tracks on the go (on the way to office and uni everyday & sometimes at home from my lappy). Ideally I would love to have amazing quality sound output but can't really be bothered to wear those chunky headsets that offer the sound quality to my satisfaction, so I decided to go for an average quality bluetooth headset for everyday use.
After going through some reviews I'm thinkin of buyin a motorola s9. I know it has issues with the buttons but I don't go to gym and don't get time for even light exercise, hence I have nothing to worry about, on that part. But, unfortunately, I can't seem to find any UK based dealer where I can get it from. Ideally I would prefer a shop where I can take the thing back if anything bad happens.
I would also like your opinion on my choice and if there is any other headset that you might suggest.
Cheers...
Doesn't anybody has anything to say?!
ah, here's my 3 cents...
Firstly, the new model is S9 HD...I considered that and some others and finally bought the Plantronics V855. I didn't need very good stereo music, and so the 855 is okay for me. At best, the call sounds are great. I didn't like wires and the 855 had just one simple wire that links to the other ear, unlike those like the SE DS980 (great stereo music).
The S9 HD (to me!) looked very out of place (aka awkward, ugly) on a person when worn - at least that what's I gather from seeing 2 persons wearing them on the streets.
Additionally, some reviews pointed to poor call voice sounds (ie. soft).
...it's really your preference in the end.
I think I'm gonna go with the DS980 then...
Dint get a bluetooth headset at the end, instead got a seenheiser CX 400-II headset... Mind blowing quality. glad that i made that choice...

Totally off topic: Headphones!

I'm looking for better quality headphones for the HD. I see Sennheiser make a set with a mic and button for the iPod, that appears to have the same banded 3.5mm jack as the HD, bit I'm not sure if it is the same configuration as the HD.
I really want to make and take calls, but I need better music quality than the branded set that ship with it.
Anyone used anything else?
Sennheiser MM50iP Headset
I have been using the Sennheiser MM50iP Headset for months now and would recommend it - it works fine with the Touch HD although it does not control the HTC Audio Manager in any way, only the 'phone. I have made one minor 'modification' to them, taking the foam buds from a set of JVC Marshmallow 'phones and replacing the silicon ones which come with the Sennheisers. Makes for a better fit in my ears and keeps out a bit more ambient noise.
you should post this in the accessories section of the forum and not here. Also, this thread already exists there so your question is answered there.
I use Sony MDR-EX 90 LP with my Blackstone and the sound is AMAZING im feeling like im in the club
On a slight side note..
My original headset broke, and I was looking for a headset with a mic...
However I ended up buying a pair of Sennheiser HD228's..which don't have a mic, but the sound quality is literally amazing..atleast much much better than anything I expected out of my phone..definitely worth the purchase. They're available on amazon (I'm from the UK, i'm unsure of the availability of this model in different countries.)
I'm thinking of pairing it up with a decent 3.5mm adapted with microphone..i'll let you know my views after the jump
It's worth noting also that these are possibly the most comfortable pair of headphones i've ever used (I've been through a fair few different kinds: Etymotic ER6i's, clip on panasonics, in ear CX300's, in ear sony fontopias, Sennheiser HD205's). They've also impressed me the most..although i've only had them for a day lol.
I'm hoping this helps anyone looking for a better pair of headphones to use with the HTC Touch HD
Guys don`t think for the Blackston Music Player like is a odrinary Player befor a year i change almost 10 diferent headphones just to enjoy the music and i need to tell you that the Blackstone have just amazing Music Player quality and if you buy some really cool earphones or headphones you can feel like you are in the club belive me
Like i say in my post i use earphones SONY MDR and i can`t explain you what im feeling when i listen music

[Q] Headphone Preference - Too damn low audio & Bluetooth

I spent $20 on these Jabra headphones that had great reviews... it is actually quite good but the max audio is kinda low than i expected! (With SRS or Dolby or one of the equalizers...)
Surprisingly the Rs. 200 headphones (approx. $2.5) that i bought here have a much higher output! But obviously i hate the build of that one...
Which headphone would y'all recommend that you've used and have gotten loud sound out of 'em - like enough to cancel out any external noise...
Speaking of... I also got the Jawbone Icon bluetooth but am really disappointed by the low audio playback on it... it is extremely low - totally not worth listening to music on unless you're in a quiet room! I tried a reset of the bluetooth device and more as suggested on forums but still poor performance... Anyone here using that bluetooth?
If you want it loud and still be able to get some noise from the outside (what you need if you ride a bike while listening to music):
http://www.amazon.com/Koss-PortaPro...P4ZH/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1290772270&sr=8-1
They look oldschool and the sound virtually boosts you away
or the Sennheiser PX 100 - 2
http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-10...4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1290772336&sr=1-4
or for really closed (you wont hear anything from the outside) you might try:
http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-PX...2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1290772438&sr=1-2
It's a matter of taste. Best thing is to go into a store and try all of them!
My Sennheiser PX 200 sound awesome with my mozart and has pretty high sound volume... I highly recommend them indeed!
There are rumours of two major updates early next year, supposedly for CES in January and MWC in February.
WP7 does seem to have an awkwardly low max volume, I can see this being easily fixed in one of those updates (since I believe OTA updates haven't been sorted out yet). Don't blame it purely on the headphones.
Personally, I would go for the in-ear earphones for noise isolation. I picked up the Logitech Ultimate Ears 100 earphones at a local **** Smith in Australia for $30, they function rather well (just that complex sounds are often muddy).
