Hey guys, i'm a newbie to WM5 and need some quick tips.
I'm currently having problems with an unclear reception i'm using
ROM 1.18.255.3 (07/22/06)
Radio Verision 1.03.03.10
ExtROM 1.18.255.106
I'm thinking of upgrading the radio rom to 1.20 to see if this helps.
Advice needed:
Never Flashed, where do i find the ABC Instructions on how to backup my Original HTC TyTN Rom? Is the ROM available somewhere here to save me flashing it? I want to restore to normal if i'm not happy with the results.
Never Flashed, how do i safely upgrade the rom and which do you recommend for best radio and best overall performance
Sorry to ask such basic questions, but i'm terrified of stuffing this baby up.

You have it there in shipped format ready to flash, so you don't need to backup it first.

ok since 1week i have htc hermes tytn and i'm very, very satisfied with it. but i saw, that my rom is old and slow (1.18.255.3 07/22/06 with 1.03.03.10 radio and 1.18.255.106 extrom). i saw already the 1.35.255.2 rom, but i'm confused, because it's for south africa.... i live in Bulgaria and i'm not sure, will the device run, after the flash? problems?
i want you to explain or give me links to understand how to flash the rom. i don't know what the bootloader ist (maybe something for the startup of the device ) and the CID unlocker.... please help me, this is my first WM phone (i had before symbian)

i recommend you to read the wiki first as it has all the info you need to start with. you'll find the answers to most of the questions you asked here. you can also search for the threads on that rom from south africa and the audio issues you mentioned.

one question: are they backup programs to save all my data (with settings and files) to the pc, because active sync saves only my document folder and i have to install all applications again?

A ROM upgrade may change the registary etc and restoring applications from a previous ROM is not recommended. However you can purchase 3rd party applications to backup files etc IE Sprite Backup there are a couple of others mentioned here in the forums.

i want to unlock extrom (i have unlocked the past rom) but now i can't. i tryed all registry hacks and i can't unlock it. its unhidden, but not unlocked.

OK now before U start cursing me, please hear me out first.
I have a HTC TyTN in German, and I can make squad out of it cause I don't understand this language. (it was a gift btw)
Now I have gone trough the manuals and trough wiki but for a total beginner like my self a lot of this stuff is confusing. So here is my plead:
Can anyone put in a small manual how to convert this German speaking HTC TyTN in to nice and understandable English one
Now when I do the OK+POWER+Reset stuff this is what shows up on the screen:
HERM200
IPL 1.00
SPL 1.06
The Phone Info on the other side shows this mambo jumbo:
ROM-version: 1.18.257.2
ROM-datum: 07/22/06
Funkempfangerversion: 1.03.03.10 (told U is in German)
Protokoll-version: 32.34.7010.01H
ExtROM-version: 1.18.257.8003
Now keep in mind this is the only place that I have found that has this kind of info so go easy on me.

And which topics should I read about the flashing of this ROM, because I'm completely new in this field.
Try downloading from the HTC site...
It'll ask for your serial number and wont let you download if its not compatible with your phone......
Depends on what kind of HD2 you have and whether or not is a "branded" handset.....
The stickies in the rom development section are the best place for flashing info and tutorials......
If your flashing stock from the HTC site the instructions provided there are plain and simple and should see you right..........

The latest Stock Rom are 3.14.xxx.x Rom's.
Based on your information you need the 3.14.405.1 stock rom. (integrated radio is 2.15.50.14)
Ow, x.XXX.405.x rom's are World Wide English rom's you can download the latest version from the HTC website, ore here from my mirror
Ow if you need to know how to install stock rom, take a look on this.
Fore more information about rom's, you can take a look on this thread, and important is to read the sticky thread. (Ps if you will use/install custom rom's read/follow the instructions mention on the thread from the cooked builder.)

Hello sir, first of all welcome to XDA.
Based on your information; "Rom x.xx.415.x English-Arabic"
I must admit that fore the moment the 1.66 stock ROM was the latest update for this aria.
Based on this information you have the possibility to use the GoldCard technique for install the WWE 3.14.405.2 (don't forget to remove HSPL (in case you have))
Otherwise you need to wait.

I just took a look on the link and this ROM x.XX.479.x is a East-Europe WWE.
It is the same thing Sir, for the moment you have a x.XX.415 device. Stock ROM 3.14 needs to be installed without the use of HSPL. This will cause some problems for you because the area don't match.
Of course using the GoldCard technique permits you to install any kind of area ROMs.
The most important thing whit stock ROM 3.14 is to remove HSPL from your device (in case you have install it).
Im in pretty much the same boat..im new to all this Hd2 Flashing and whatnot but its awesome...i have a 1024Leo..Stock SPL 2.10..Radio 2.15.50.14..I was hoping to be able to run Core Cell V4.1.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=667272 ..But i have asked a few questions and have got very few answers..Can i even run this rom and if not which would you recommend??..I have already searched the forums for the downloads required to install the Rom..But it will be for nothing if i cant get some more experienced guys to steer me in the right direction so i dont brick my new HD2...Thanks for any help you can give..

Your link is a link to a custom ROM sir, a custom ROM who is based on T-Mous device.
Also your radio is correct, so I don't see a problem.
Thanks for the quick reply..Yeah that was my question if i could Run that particular Rom with my radio..As long as i flash the SPL (HARDSPL) everything should be good?? Because to my understanding, different phones can only run certain Roms..Is there a specific way to tell tell the difference between a LEO HD2 and a T-Mous HD2 or are they the same thing??

The T-Mous USA device: have 576 MB RAM, 1 GB ROM
the HD2 EU/Asia: have 448 MB RAM, 512 MB ROM

Ok..Mine is a T-Mous USA Device for sure..Thanks for all the info..THIS Noob really appreciates it..I have read all the walkthroughs to be able to run my desired Rom..Flashing SPL..then choosing a compatible rom and radio number..Any other advise or instructions im missing before i try this on my HD2??

Hello sir, and welcome on XDA;
Based on your device info, you need to use the Goldcard technique to be able to install this.
Take a look on this step by step guide, and you will be able to flash the custom ROM. (take your time to read this step by step guide.)

Important info you need to know; Don't flash a x.xx.51.x Radio on a T-Mous device. (This will brake your device.)

I understand your statement; Unfortunately there is no other solution than GoldCard.
But you can contact oliverweidel; (the person who have wright the step by step guide) in the past he have helps other peoples like you. So take contact with him.

Hoi Hans, I'm gonna try to help you, but it's important for me to make sure which device you have, because there are a lot look a like's but it's just another phone, to make sure which device you own just take a look under your battery and tell me if you have a nike100 or another version.
The second thing I need to know, does your phone have a simlock.

Hola hans, any news on your plans? I just "revived" my old nike today after beeing in a drawer for years, and I must say, it´s been a full success and it only took me less than an hour to do so. Now I even have WinMo 6.5.x and "sense-like" tabs
