Is it possible to upgrade Dopod 838 from Chinese to English? If it is possible, how do I do it? Also, how do I know what bootloader version do I have?

you can also tweak the registry to use the chinese keyboard with an english rom. read "Restore local language support for sliding keyboard after upgrade to a different language ROM" section on this page. i beieve this is what you are looking for.
