Hi,
I was poking around in my Extended ROM and ran across C_HSDPA_Wirelss_Modem_Stall.cab
It contains an xml file setting a registry key:
<wap-provisioningdoc>
<characteristic type="Registry">
<characteristic type="HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\sc2440usbfn" translation="filesystem">
<parm name="SetInPktRdy" datatype="integer" value="1" />
</characteristic>
</characteristic>
</wap-provisioningdoc>
Can anyone tell me what the value of that registry key is on other phones? I'm wondering if Cingular set the HSDPA modem to sub-optimal values on purpose. (The name of the cab includes "stall").
I have HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\sc2440usbfn\ on my registry, but there is no such key named "SetInPktRdy".
I guess you'll have to digg through sc2440usbfn.dll if you really want to understand what this key does. This has something to do with the samsung sc244x processor, GSM/3G data goes through USB host ([email protected]_usb) in RIL.
Removing it *appears* to have no effect. I wonder why they put it in at all? Perhaps I will dig into the DLL.
Did anyone ever figure out what this actually does?

pof, can you tell me what you mean by digging through sc2440usbfn.dll? I am interested in looking here in order to control the usb charging or usb detection. Do you know of any tools which may help me?

I use a program called registry workshop for that, google it

Ok, that's also an interesting registering tool but I think that we want to know how to control your device via your PC with the use of the mouse and keyboard.
Does such an application exists?
Yes, sure.
Pocket Pc Controller
http://www.soti.net/default.asp?Cmd=Products&SubCmd=PCPro
And regarding Remote Register... The screens I posted are from a tool found in the WM5 SDK (or in the VS2005 Professional Package). I do use them for work.
Thanks a lot, thats what I mend!
Thanks Pof, I Checked Out Registry Workshop. The One By Torch Soft? It Says I Have To Buy A License To Use It And So I Decided Not To Use It.
Thanks CmdKewin I'll Download The WM5 SDK Now And Use That One If It's Free.
Cheers
Mobile Registry Editor does it - you can browse the PDA's registry on your PC.
Just plug your USB cable in, run MRE and you're good to go.
I Looked At MBR, But It's Very Limited, Theres No Option To Search The Registry For Strings And Delete Keys And Things. Which Are Quite Important When Shifting Through All The Information. If It Had Those Features I'd Recommend It But, It Doesn't.
Cheers

Yes it is the one from torch soft, you can download a free trial here: http://www.torchsoft.com/en/download.html
I was thinking that we could create a list of registry locations for programs that use serial registrations. We could then add these locations and our own serial numbers to UC or Sashimi. It would make flashing even easier without having to manually add serial numbers.
Also a short lesson where to locate the serials and exactly how to add them into UC or Sashimi would be great so we can all contribute. Hopefully in short time we could have most of popular programs serial locations.
Anyone else think this would be useful?

As long as nobody actually posts their serial numbers, because that would be a quick way to get the thread deleted. Pending it's just the reg keys, then I would be ok with this, could use it for a few programs I have that are registered.
BTC
Of course. I wasn't suggesting the posting of serial numbers at all. As you pointed just the locations so we can do this once and have it load when reflashing.
Actually, this sounds like a great idea! Some more post-flash automation
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Lakeridge\WA Desktop
String Value : License Code : XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
This is without the dashes. I haven't verified automation. Will do the next time I flash. I'm sure that'll be in a day or so. LOL
Edit: Yes. If you set this registry key to the correct License Code... you are good. Obviously the Name is important too since they go hand in hand. I exported the whole key and put that into a cab during UC. Run this first... then run the Cab for installation of the program
Hey Guys,
Ever notice how the AT&T ROMs have differen menu for SMS/MMS/Email? When you select New it shows "Text Message" instead of SMS and so on...I am trying to get that on an HTC ROM, can't figure out where it is hidden in the AT&T ROM to copy over to my kitchen.
Anyone have a clue?
It's in one of the .provxml's in \OperatorPkg I believe,
I recommend using a program like EmEditor that can search through a subset of files in all subdirectories:
i.e. search folder \oem for *.rgu, *.provxml, all subdirectories
then you can search for "Text Message" and it'll pop right up
From the OEMOperator_107
Code:
<!-- Account name changes. This request is from Customer. 2007-5-30 -->
<characteristic type="HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox\MsgTypes\IPM\MMS">
<parm name="Name" value="Multimedia Message" datatype="string" />
</characteristic>
<characteristic type="HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox\MsgTypes\IPM\SMSText">
<parm name="Name" value="Text Message" datatype="string" />
</characteristic>
<characteristic type="HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc\SMS">
<parm name="FriendlyName" value="Messages" datatype="string" />
</characteristic>
Haha thanks guys! I must have missed that like 1,000 times when I looked around for it.
Easily Done Took me a few attempts to find it till I worked out that I wasnt searching the ATnT ROM!!!
If like me, you have problems on O2 receiving a picture message because O2 decide to resize it to 100*100....so small that you can barely make out whats supposed to be in the picture, here is a simple fix! It does involve editing the registry though!
Browse your way to:
HKLM>Software>ArcSoft>ArcSoft MMS UA>Config>mm1>WspHeader
There are two strings we need to change and that is the "User Agent" & "x-wap-profile"
The standard data in these strings are as below incase you need to revert back!
User Agent - Toshiba-TG01-orange/ArcSoft/MMSUA/PPC/v5.5
x-wap-profile - http://gphone.toshiba.co.jp/tech/profiles/UAPROF/EUR1/TG01-2.0.xml
The correct settings which work are:
UserAgent= HTC_HD2_T8585
x-wap-profile= http://www.htcmms.com.tw/gen/HTC_HD2_T8585-1.0.xml
I believe the problem is with the Content Adaptation service provided by O2. After I changed my registry to fool it into thinking my TG01 is a HTC HD2 (which going by the .XML file the MMSC server is supposed to read, the maximum size should be 1600x1600), I sent myself a picture that was something like 1536*2048 and 284kb in physical size. By all means the Content Adaptation system should resize it to 1600 in either length or height but it didn't. It resized it 768*1024!! (Whereas before on my TG01 registry settings, it resized it to 100*75)
I have noticed a very interesting string in the online XML file for the HTC HD2
<mms:MmsMaxImageResolution>1600x1600mms:MmsMaxImageResolution>
Where as in the XML file for the TG01 its
<mms:MmsMaxImageResolution rdf:datatype="Dimension">1600x1200mms:MmsMaxImageResolution>
So I am going to make my OWN .XML file based on the HTC's and put that into my registry with picture resolution sizes of 1000000*1000000 See what happens, I bet their MMSC server will burn!
Registry
Sorry to sound like a noob, but how can I access the registry for the TG01. I assume that it's not freely accessible since it could cause major issues
Many thanks

EDIT: Used PHM registry editor. Was amazingly simple to do. Why can't O2 just change the settings and issue an update? Oh well. I'm sure someone will try and change it, screw it up, and spend hours on the phone to customer services

Sorry I didn't reply, I am not on the forums much
Intro(Probably Not That Important)
I was looking into making an mobile app for my organization so anybody can keep up with it on the go, so I started to look into the Tutorial XDA has on youtube. I looked around on the site and didn't really see anything that correlated (then again I could just suck really bad at searching this early in the morning).
Problem
I seem to be having trouble with R.id and my button not showing up as a field/can't be resolved. The error I am getting is "button1 cannot be resolved or is not a field". The code I have for the line is directly out of the video.
Code:
final Button button1 = (Button) findViewById(R.id.button1);
Thanks.
Have you declared 'button1' button in your layout .xml file?
You should have something like this in your .xml file:
<Button android:id="@+id/button1"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content" />
Tip: Sometimes you need to 'clean' the project. Go to Project -> Clean if you are sure you have declared everything but Eclipse says that you haven't. For that, every XML file should be well written.
