Hello,
I ordered a new full set housing for my Cingular 8125 and it should come in the next week or two. When I get it, whats the best way to remove the original housing?
I have absoluteley no Idea how to change the housing, but don't forget to make pictures while you change.
Thanks,
Andre
Where did you get the new housing and is it different from the original one?

The 8125 wizard casing is all over ebay but some sellers charge upto $90 for it! You should find dissassembly instructions in the service manual on the FTP site. I have the MDA vario wizard casing ( no stubby aeriel ) listed on ebay under id fluffcat1.
Richard
I too would like to change my 8125 housing. I dropped mine the day after I bought it. I think the stock case was my problem. I hate tucking it in and out of that thing. I have another one coming and want to get another housing.
GSXR_6:
Where can I locate the FTP site. Sorry, I'm new and this is my first post.
I also thought of reworking the color of the housing once the warranty is passed.
Here we go, 3rd attempt (having issues with attaching file.)
HTC Wizard WIZA200 housing with MDA T-MOBILE written on bottom left and right:
Ebay Item Number 130005148788
2 more housings (almost double the price of previous) with T-MOBILE written on bottom center:
Ebay Item Number 9733402561
Ebay Item Number 9141941613
And the attached service manual is the one from the FTP just renamed from Prodigy to Wiard so i could locate it easier on my pc.
Also when disassembling your device watch out for the clips, i've broken a total of like 4 or 5 on my device, although when all put back together it is good as new.
ok, stupid thing doesn't want to attach.go to the Wiki of this site and theres an ftp tutorial of how to get to it.
Can someone please link me to the ftp page where I can download the instructions on how to replace my wizard's housing? I can't find it on the ftp site.

That's my auction
They are both original BTW, mine are t-mobile UK 'MDA vario' cases and Che_sir's are US spec - the only difference being the placing of the logos.
I only have limited quantities ( 2 left for now) and che_sir seems to have loads of 'em.
Che_sir also has digitisers and other parts that I simply cannot get hold of :-(
But I'm cheaper
Richard
HAHA, I think i messaged you on ebay asking about other parts for the wizard. Well i might have to buy one of the cases, depending on the damaged wizard i just bought on ebay for parts. We'll see.
Cingular 8125 & T-Mobile MDA
Even though these 2 are the varient from Wizard, but is the housing interchangable? What I mean is buying a Cingular housing for T-Mobile MDA. Is there a good place to buy T-Mobile MDA housing other than ebay? Thanks!! 8)
Check the FTP.

Disassembly of the 8125 (Dopod 838 case) is a little bit different from the Tmobile mda (Qtek 9100) casing. I still haven't found instructions for the 8125 but for the mda, its on the ftp site.

i didn't realize the that the 8125 was the wiza 100 (and it looks imo)
how different can it be, is it not just the shape of the housing, meaning the clips and principles must be same/similar
anyway here is another guide to disassembly (actually the stylus fix) still of the wiza200 but the pictures may be clearer if it may help

In case anyone was wondering... the cost quoted to me by PocketPCTechs to replace the system board on a bricked JASJAM is $590 USD, plus $60 labor.
Yeah. So I'm having them send it back.
There is also a shortage of the JASJAM/TyTN/Hermes system boards. They've had it a month, and a lot has happened in these forums since then, including some stuff that looks like I'll be able to unbrick it myself... maybe. Hopefully they didn't mess it up any worse (when I sent it, I could still get into the OS).
Unfortunately, when I managed to screw mine up, none of these recent cool programs were out -- and I had to go on a business trip in a week, so I figured I'd send it to the warranty provider and hope they could figure out how to get the radio working again.
How did you brick it?? also what was it doing??
$590+$60 labor? You can get a brand new Softbank X01HT on EBay for less than that.
I had PocketPCTechs replace the LCD on my old XDA IIs. When it came back from PPCT, there was an annoying hum in the earpiece whenever I used the phone. Made the IIs pretty much useless.
IMEI CHECK fixed mine for $40 US. plus shipping....No GSM type brick

Yeah, really. I got a TyTN on eBay from Expansys' open box deals they have there every once in a while for less than that.
My battery cover top edge broke off after just two months of use. Have been searching but can't find replacement. TMobile UK version is different from Original HTC. Any help please.

And it didn't take a lot of effort to google your answer!!!!!!!

Yes I knew that, but, service parts for case moldings come as a complete set so you might be stuck with having to purchase the lot.
If you did, I'm sure someone else would want the other pieces so you could defray the cost.
I found the real problem with signal issues of the HTC Titan.
I have 2 HTC Titan
I bought a second HTC Titan from AT&T for a penny & I thought of trying the back cover on my first Titan.
The results are astonishing. The back cover was all that was wrong on my device. With the second Titan I purchased from AT&T on the Web, there is no problem with the sigral.
I have now ordered a new cover from Ebay & will try to get a replacement from HTC for my original cover that was defective.
I really think there was a bad batch of those back covers for this Titan & we where the unlucky ones to get them.
If you know someone that has no issues with his Titan, try his back cover on your phone.
Hope this help someone.
Good luck.
Hi, could this solve the WiFi issues?

How can you tell the difference between covers?
Photo please..
There is no difference at all between the covers that I have. The only thing I can figure out is that the contacts tabs on the inside of the covers that does not work, do not make a contact with the antenna that is embedded in the bothom plastic of the cover.
I do not know if the WiFi problem is related to this, (as I think the WiFi antenna is located in an other place on the cover) but for me the slow download speed I was getting before I change the cover, & the low signal or no signal was directly ralated to the lack of good antenna.
In order to come up with this solution, I went great lengths in order to find the right tab that was the antenna. I even install a temporary antenna (See immage) on the outside of the thone & I was getting better signal.
But after receiving my second Titan from AT&T online order I tried the cover from that secont Titan & Voila !! Very good service & signal.
Hope this help.

If someone want to buy a replacement on eBay, I think he should be carefull on choosing the right cover, because on eBay, they sell a BLACK cover & a SILVER like on AT&T, & I think it is because in the USA, AT&T has a different frequency than in Europe.
I was hoping to get HTC to provide me with a new cover, but having install an exterior antenna on it, kind of ruined the warranty. That is why I order one on Ebay from China.
I sure would like HTC to acknoledge the problem & provide us with a replacement back cover. But we could be wayting a long time.
Regards

To answer your direct question, & not to confuse anyone, the new cover that I have installed on my Titan comes from an other AT&T Titan phone.
But for those people in Europe, I know that they have a different Back cover because of the Carrier operation frequency.
Hope this help.
I have 2 back covers at the moment, i got one from china that im using at the moment and im removing the paint and polishing the original, and after reading this ive just tested both of them and found the one from china does give worse reception than the original. But ive found that if your very very gentle and careful you can tweak the contacts on the phone so they make better contact with the case, and now both backs work fine. This might not be a permanent fix as taking the case on and off may push them back but it may be useful if anyones stuck while waiting for a new back .

Hello there,
I just called HTC & they are shipping me a replacement back cover for my HTC Titan.
They do replace one accessory during the warranty period.
So if you still have a problem with your reception, maybe try a different cover that HTC can ship to you.
Hope this help.
Thanks pjodm

HTC Customer service told me that we have 15 days after receiving the new cover to call them back if things have not improve or else.
My hope is high because I have something to compare with.
I took a long time to explain them all what I did to find what was the problem, & told them that there was lots of other Titan Fans that where fustrated with this issue.
Hope the message get across higher echelons in HTC Company.
Spread the word if this fixed your problem.

It is a great phone, i would say go buy it, i'm sure you'll like it. I am very impressed of mine.
I bought mine on AMAZON. It's the black cover (and not from China!).
The frequency doesn't have anything to do with it as it's in the phone's configuration, not the back cover...
Anyway, I'm using it since yesterday and all I can say is.... WOOWW!! What a huge difference. I'm starting to love my phone again !!!
(Before that, I was about to throw it on a wall ....)

At least it solved mine.....
Humor me...
Take your old backplate... at the bottom (shown on this pic)
http://wmpoweruser.com/htc-titan-having-antenna-issues/
scrape it with a file.
I did this... (even accidentally scraped one completely off) and i went from 2-3 bars to 4 and 5, never dropping below 4 on ATT 3g plus (says 4g on US version of titan)
Will test tomorrow to full confirm but i think i just saved myself from buying a new back.
If this improved i may to in on all of the connections to backplate.
Hello,
I got my Lumia 800, and it's charging at the moment. But when I bought the phone from Amazon through FGS Trading, the box it came with has a sticker on it in German. It says:
"Neuwertig, gebrauchtes
Ihre Qualitätskontrolle 35"
Gebrauchtes means used...so does it mean I bought a new phone, but was given a used one?

But why is Gebrauchtes also printed on the label?
For me this sounds like it's not new. Looks more like a refurbished one that has gone through quality control to assure it's like new.
Maybe Nokia support would be able to tell using the phones IMEI?

That's what I'm thinking. I contacted the seller and we're going to sort this out.
At this point, it doesnt even matter right now because the phone won't turn on anyway Spent eight hours yesterday doing every trick/button combination possible.
I'll take it to the Microsoft store to see if they can do something.

Try a Nokia store, or you can arrange a repair if your phone has a warranty (which it should have). Check Nokia care online.

Unfortunately, the U.S. doesn't have Nokia stores. I went to the Microsoft store and they weren't able to do anything.
I've contacted both Nokia and the Amazon seller. We'll have to see how this works out. I waited all of my spring break for a phone that won't turn on!
At least I'm still very satisfied with how well it's built. It's like an Alfa Romeo. Won't work, but take one look at it and all the negatives will be forgotten.
Meanwhile, I'll live with my HD2.

Of course, I'm waiting for Alfa to make its return to the U.S.
I tried doing a search, and this popped up:
"Device was not designed for the US market:
We do not have the capability to repair devices that were not designed for the US market. Please check the warranty information that was included with your device and/or please contact your point of purchase. If you purchased the device in the US and you determine that your device came with a US warranty, please contact Nokia Customer Care at 1-888-665-4228 for information. Please include a copy of your proof of purchase that confirms the device was purchased in the United States and a copy of the in box US warranty documentation when you send your device in for repair."
It makes sense, since my particular unit was imported from T-mobile in Germany by the seller. Maybe I should've shelled out the extra $50 for the Amazon-certified international one.

The Lumia 800 is sold in the U.S. at Microsoft Stores, but it only comes in a bundle with speakers and headphones for $800 (about £500). Amazon sells the international unlocked version for $550. As far as I know, they're the same version, except Microsoft won't sell the phone separately.
